I agree that he seems to want to move on. I commented on that point a while back, as well. Like we who have followed him a long time can kind of 'sense' that he's ready to go (and isn't that a weird thing? That some of you can nod and know exactly what I'm talking about, through a medium that is only little black letters.). I think though, that some are forgetting that season 8 Reid was very prevalent with the Maeve arc and that in season 9 he took a big swoop towards the actual heroic again. The last time he was treated abysmally by the writers was season 7. He was consistently shunted to the background, marginalized to a talking head, and the butt of everyone's jokes. Aside from the generally shitty writing, it is the main reason I refuse to buy the season. The appearance of Alex and her respect for his abilities served as a reminder to the rest of them of his value, and his loss of Maeve reminded them all of how much they love him. Nobody shushed him in 9, and his bravery and heroism was re-established as he saved other team members and victims lives again and again, became much more physical with and mentally outwitted UnSubs, delivered a baby while talking the UnSub down, and surviving his own gunshot neck. All us Reid fans, and probably even others, want to see that continue in 10, and unless Matthew has deliberately asked to be dialed back, I'm hopeful they'll continue this path, even if they revisit his addiction. Concerns are not unfounded, however, and I hope what we fear the most for Reid does NOT come true.

Me too, guys. I'm actually writing a thing now that has her returning to work with the BAU as a P.I. because I can't get the idea outta my head. They seek out her help and Hotch doesn't tell anyone until she walks into the BAU, bag over her shoulder. Reid is thrilled, as are JJ and Morgan. If enough people politely request, and since this is season 10 where they could easily revisit people/cases from the past... well, I hope they'd take it under consideration at the very least. Especially with Lola liking the idea.

Season 10 Spoilers, Speculation, and Stabs in the Dark!
Wilowy replied to Wilowy's topic in Criminal Minds
Matt said in the Japanese interview that they pretty much just let his hair alone now. So I guess however he wakes up is how it stays, who knows. :P I'm just afraid he's gonna cut it. -
normasm I'm not saying she was swooning with undying passion in that embrace, just that to me and others it was much more than just a friendly clinch. That was just one example, I'll pm you some others when I get to my computer - not to try to change your mind, just to illustrate my frame of reference. :)

Season 10 Spoilers, Speculation, and Stabs in the Dark!
Wilowy replied to Wilowy's topic in Criminal Minds
I don't see why the "limb " angle is premiere -worthy. They've done that twice before, already. -
Ha, well she appreciated Sean Hotchner. His backside, anyway. :) I never got that she saw Spencer in a 'little brother' way. She was dismissive of him at times, but she was and is also very affectionate with him, and I've posted many pics to that effect the last time someone asked for proof of her touchy-feelies with her Spence. I'd be pleased to post them again if you'd like - it's always awesome for me to revisit their hugs. ;) Also check this out, something I noticed when that Japanese group visited the set earlier this week. No pics of Will anywhere, just her little man Henry. :D

Agreed on some of your points, normasm, but as far as the Hankel incident goes, she was consumed with guilt for letting him separate from her at the farm, caring not one whit for her own injuries and nearly losing it in the dirty bathroom as she leaned on the sink and bent her head to get a grip on her emotions. If she was flippant to anyone in that ep, it was Morgan when she flung that look at him after giving Spencer this hug: And it was still on her mind much later as the team was preparing to head out for another case and she made a point to stop him in the hall and say "No matter what, we stick together, is that clear?" She has shown more chemistry with and more gentle caring for him over the years than she has shown for her own husband. If they ever did get them together, in an epilogue or however, I've no doubt that their roles would continue as is - she the stronger, tougher one of the two, he the thinker and planner. What she lacks in brainpower he has in spades, what he lacks in physical and tactical skills, she has.

JMO, I do think that they have hinted at it (two recent instances were the end of Magnum Opus, and in Gatekeeper when he delivered the baby), and maybe tease us a bit with it from time to time. I like their friendship aspect too, and that makes for an even richer bond, imo. I also don't think him being committed to JJ would mess up his story, because right now it's just a void as far as any romance goes. If they were to go there, I think it would be compelling and very sweet... yet they'd still have cases to work every single day so it couldn't become the focus. What I wouldn't give to see her grab his hand as the elevator doors closed, hers being the only one he liked touching.

Found this on tumblr, geez Ian looks nothing like Al here!

Being a JJ/Spence shipper I have my own theory about this one, but I'll try to leave that out of my reply and just speak to Will and JJ's dynamic. To me, it was very telling all along that she kept refusing his proposals, over years. She obviously cared about him, but was not 'in love' with him. At least not the kind of love that belongs in a standard marriage. When Henry came along she made a decision to be with him, and one could argue that that decision was made out of convenience and necessity, again sans passion. Whether it was that the actors have no chemistry, or just that was how she chose to play it (I happen to believe it was both), JJ always seemed to relate to Will like a pal, a buddy, much more than a beloved husband; like someone she'd be more comfortable chucking on the shoulder rather than kissing. Her varying and seemingly constant degrees of irritation with him were evident in her answers anytime anyone inquired about him. When he got shot, kidnapped, and almost blown to smithereens, I believe she had a knee-jerk reaction to the possibility of his death and reacted like anyone would at the near-loss of a friend. She finally accepted his proposal, saying "Let's just get it over with" (hardly a declaration of true love, and lacking any enthusiasm whatsoever), because she realized that if she didn't have him around, that she'd probably be alone for a very long time, and I don't think that appealed to her in the least. It felt to me that she set aside her reservations and natural resistance to their legal coupling in order to 'give him something' after his ordeal. I do wish they had stayed on the track of getting her and Spencer together, but when AJ got pregnant and they chose to write it into JJ's story, that derailed that. Will was the only viable candidate at that point, so that's what we, and she, got. I like the actor okay, and think that Will is a good man. But my lil shipper heart aches sometimes for what might have been.

A Tribute to the Late, Great, Robin Williams
Wilowy replied to BizBuzz's topic in Everything Else About Movies
I had a teacher like that. His name was Mr. Arduser. I never even knew his first name but it was all about inspiring creative thought in students, not just mindlessly following the established norm. He was awesome and all the students loved him. -
That's exactly why I hope, if they revisit this storyline in 10, that they acknowledge it and help him. Even if it's on the dl. Our team is a tight family now, and for fuck's sake, keep Callahan out of the loop. She hasn't earned the inner-circle stuff yet.

I just finished mainlining this show, both seasons in a week. Fucking amazing. Kevin Spacey is a National treasure and I'm stunned and captivated by his unflinching performance the likes of which I haven't seen since Al Swearengen. Robin Wright is at her steely best as Claire, a character as far from Buttercup as there are measurements, and the supporting players are all BEYOND EXCELLENT. This show is 'Deadwood in Washington'. Fuck.Yes.

I have mixed feelings about this one because even though Sarah did sacrifice herself so her son could continue to believe his life was real, and it was earned by him, and I'm glad Gideon went along with her wishes... I always wished the adopted father would have come forward. I thought his declaration, with all he (and his adopted son) had at stake, would have been more devastating, more real, more heroic. I did want the murderer to fry. But I didn't want Sarah Jane to. And the perfect person to come forward would have been the dad (or the mom) of the boy. Did Gideon have a responsibility to come forward? Yep, legally, he did. But that doesn't always happen in real life, and I'm glad he chose to honor Sarah's final wish.

Three, Four, and Five are all tied for me. I like that everyone is basically featured the same size, and the layouts were more creative. The negative space ADDED to the art rather than intruding on it, and the color balance of the red/black was dynamic, though very different, on each. The covers for 6,7, and 8 are laughably bad. And 9, while not the worst, is washed out and desperately needing that splash of red. I don't like Gideon's huge head on season 1, and season 2 has all the women clustered together in the very back. I was told that the marketing department does these, not the art department. Figures.

Molly says the season 9 extras are "...More than we've ever done. There's a piece on every episode!" Nice!

Here's something cool for all us aspiring writers out there. Toss your 100 word story in the ring for a chance at TWENTY GRAND! http://www.aerogrammestudio.com/2014/08/11/museum-of-words-flash-fiction-contest/ It's far more difficult than it sounds, writing a good story with only 100 words, but why not give it a shot? Somebody has to win!

This is one of my favorite Reid scenes, oddly enough it occurs in one of my most disliked episodes. Get a load of our boy explaining The Golden Ratio:
