  1. Thanks @tv echo for your transcription work. Really interesting to see what he says about Sara. I think they'd have recast Jaqueline McInnes Wood even if she had been available. Interesting that he mentions the idea of possibly bringing Sara back to life via LPs even if the spin off didn't need her (as ATOM). It kind of lends more weight to CLs assertion that she was going to be a regular in S3 until things changed BTS. Although whatever did happen, they certainly didn't *have* to kill her off to kickstart Laurel's journey even then. And the plan was always to have death stop meaning anything on their oh so dark and gritty show in S3. Except for E1LL. So way too much emphasis by the interviewer on what Pagey thought of the intro of Mia to the story. It was never just spin off related but incredibly entwinned with Oliver's swan song as well, getting the gift of seeing his kids for a few weeks and they him. Still doesn't look like they have any concrete plans to make any more of FTA regulars if the spin off is picked up, which is pretty unlikely now anyway. I get that he said they'd been lucky with actors being willing to recur but, it will theoretically be a very frustrating show for me if it's only/mostly about the relationship between those three unless they do some serious quick work on BS and her attitude. They did have 20 Canaries, including all the ones assumed for the CN in the FFs. Which pretty much devalued the whole brand, especially when the first one was by far the best.
  2. It does make sense and they can't go on as usual. I hope they can come up with something that works both as a comedy and something meaningful. I thought Moo-Moo was good the last time they tackled the subject in a big way. Jake and Amy's panic over discussing race and Terry not being in trouble with Cagney and Lacey and then doing so was both funny. effective and true. It was especially good with Holt and Terry, two black men discussing the issue as both in character and within the wider context - Holt wants Terry to not make a fuss so he can become a captain and make a difference, as was his own mantra over the years. Then realizes he is a Captain now and in a position to help and support his Sargent. Terry saying he knows the risks but he needs to make the official complaint anyway, because the next black person the racist cop stops probably won't have a badge to save him/her and how inhuman the whole incident made him feel.
  3. I assume he's stopped it now? Probably a good idea. Especially if a lot of his friends/ex friends/ex colleagues were going stay clear of it. I'm not sure how much money it would actually have made when more interesting celebrities are producing content for free. Not to mention podcast use is/was way down in general. From his and his advisers POV I would say drop it for now and concentrate on getting the new show filming (assuming it does go ahead) and have less time to go crazy/self pitying not doing anything. And have something new to talk about on SM. This is the time of year the problematic stuff he said during the hiatus used to start dying down because the show was back to filming and spoilers etc. That's not going to happen right now. It would be great if he could show some growth and/or self reflection and apologise but I'm not holding my breath at all at this point.
  4. Reading this it struck me how things have been changing in the last few years in Hollywood in a good way. A few years ago "emphasize how you sweated blood, got rejected so much, put up with crappy jobs, gawky teen years, bullying and how no one liked you and even more" would have been great advice for a good looking, athletic, straight white guy in Hollywood, even if that had to make half of it up, because no one likes to hear how easy you've had it. Humble brag basically. Now people want to hear someone like SA definitely acknowledge their privilege and how much easier they've had it than any other group of people trying to make it. Even just because of the sheer number of roles available in that category compared to everyone else. It's an interesting shift. I do think he's worked hard, and I do think he's actually insecure in some ways, No one who's actually secure in themselves has "well fed artist" as a tag because of something his ex wife once said in an interview. His can't let anyone have a different opinion or acknowledge different experiences and points of view -especially if it's worse than his, can't/won't really see how privileged he is and how lucky or apparently relate to anything that doesn't tie back to him and his comfort zone, is a reflection of that but that doesn't excuse his attitude or behaviour in any way, AT ALL. That has been consistently awful for a while and has only got worse.
  5. Yeah it seems like it's done if MG is the one offering multiple suggestions about how it might continue/be un-cliffhangered in other media/shows. I think he'd still be on the "wait and see" train if it was likely to still be ordered. Oh well, I was much less interested when it turned out that only KM, KC and JH actually had contracts. It didn't seem very well planned for the part I was actually interested in - FTA. The one thing I really don't want is KC to turn up in any sort of recurring capacity on LOT, just no. I'm sorry, ever since she got that "all Arrowverse contract" in S5 there have been calls for her to join LOT and I get really irrational about it. Especially with so much of Sara's story kind of up in the air I have visions of CL leaving an "badass" BS Laurel taking her place (again!). It's not based on any facts just the completely unsubstantiated feeling that KC always rises from the ashes on the CW (and nowhere else) and will be the last one out the door one way or another. That or she'll pitch another Canary show next season I guess.
  6. Congrats to JH, I thought she'd only recently separated from her husband. Though it does seem to be fairly quick from what she posted. I wish them well. I obviously shouldn't laugh but I cracked up at the mental image of people queueing to take a dump on his property. And then him taking photos of the evidence to prove to people on social media that it happened. I mean whatever personal, professional or political beef you have with him there are a million better ways to handle it, but it's just surreal.
  7. I hold out hope that BL might be a regular in the end if it does get picked up. It does seem very stupid though, especially as he, CB and JDJ would seem to have pivotal roles in the backdoor pilot and all bring diversity and eye candy. I can see why CB might have bigger fish to fry, he had another pilot after all, but they still gave him a big potential role by being Mia's fiancée who also gets the dual memories of Deathstroke. Not to mention being a Diggle. It seemed like that would be a huge part and it's crazy they didn't lock that down, even if they do intend to. However if they aren't contacting agents/actors as part of negotiations with the CW how likely is regular status going to be post pick up? They can't just have the three women as their only regulars, even if it's not FTA and JJ. And those regulars would be friends and love interests and extra Canary or two...which are the characters we've already been introduced to. Dinah has a personal mystery to solve but Laurel seemed to be slipping into the antagonistic mentor role for Mia. I suppose William being kidnapped could be a season long thing so only a few appearances but that seems boring. But they definitely wanted JJ and Connor around and made BL and JDJ regulars on Arrow so I don't get why they allegedly don't know what their involvement might be if that's the case.
  8. That's a really good interview with BL, he comes across hilarious and humble. I like that he said to Beth "I can't possibly be the GA I'm the most uncoordinated person ever!" Interesting that it took three weeks of contract negotiations before he got the role, even though he was a jobbing actor before. Also interesting that he isn't officially signed on as a potential regular on the spin off, I thought that he would be, even if it's just the three leads that were official. I've always thought it was ironic that almost all their gay actors were playing straight and visa versa (apart from Ruby last year as well). I think gay actors do have more insight into the nuances of being queer than straight ones for obvious reasons, although many straight actors have done very well. We might not have had that scene where William comes out to Oliver if he hadn't asked for it as a hugely important moment for both of them. Although on Arrow the only way that a same sex couple was going to get the same depth and attention Olicity got was if Oliver came out. That's obviously not the case with LOT or Batwoman. If GAATC goes to series I see Mia's relationships taking centre stage (possibly *both* her triangle ships would be interracial assuming all the actors haven't got other work by that time which is also not common) then DDs and maybe even an attempt at giving a Laurel another love interest again. So William might be 4th important in the current line up unless they do some rejigging or the canaries are mostly single. He's more optimistic than I am about it being picked up now, but maybe he's just putting it out into the universe. Interesting that he could theoretically get rescued in a LOT ep if it's not picked up, and then KC would stay on as a new regular because she's never leaving.
  9. It really is a gift at this point. First off he seems to have thought EW's words were GGs and then "corrects" by saying he knows this but he was "just supporting his friend and that's it" coming off like the only reason he posted anything in the first place was to support and praise his white friend and he has no other opinion on the issue. I actually don't think he meant it like that but it's difficult to give him the benefit of the doubt, he seems to be working hard at becoming an unfunny parody of all his previous asshole behaviour at this point. On another note, is this the first time Jack Moore has really done an interview or con? Interesting to hear his opinions. I love Paul Blackthorne.
  10. Reading her Instagram as well as the article I think she's basically come out as somewhere on the queer spectrum without actually saying the words, which is completely her prerogative.
  11. Well that's something and I'm glad to stand corrected and that she's probably not dying and simply being replaced by another lesbian. However "where's Kate disappeared to?" as a core mystery sounds like it has a high chance of being awkward if she never reappears and they find out she's happy and fulfilled...somewhere else okay lets carry on with Ryan, as we get a shot of Kate from behind giving her blessing or something. Long game of wait and see I guess.
  12. Someone first told me about them last year I think when I was talking about how I wasn't a Ralph fan due to his S4 behaviour and the obvious frustrating big white guy zero to hero arc when there were so many other characters that needed much better storylines and screentime but that I thought HS seemed a good guy and was a good actor and that obviously really changed my mind. It was seems to have been an internet outrage thing not long after he joined apparently and I don't think anyone from the show commented and it got (mostly) forgotten and/or glossed over until now, I admit I'd kind of forgotten the details except "asshole tweets". But someone on the production team must have known about them after the original kerfuffle.
  13. Yeah me too. Fandom, especially LOT has always been my escape time from depressing and anxious real world issues but all this Sara speculation is just not enjoyable so I've been staying out of it and popping in to check every now and then. The disengagement is working and by the time the next season airs I might be completely over caring what happens. That said right now: Sigh I really hope we're just over reacting but after Ray..... Nate I kind of get, even if I don't agree because he's a good looking dude bro substitute for male writers but I really don't get this obsession with Ava. JMAC is attractive and a good actress but Ava is pretty boring on her own and they don't even use her to best advantage in playing off the rest of the cast. A whole season or more of her being Captain sounds dull to be honest, even if Sara wasn't an issue for me.
  14. The tweets were originally uncovered at the height of #metoo but nothing was done. They resurfaced now and got him fired. Which is one of the reasons I'm cynical that they fired him now. They want to be seen as doing something about racism (and misogyny) as they said they would but this season unlike in S4&5 he had nothing to do so he was far easier to let go now than then. I thought ND would eventually get upped to keep her around because the love story was the only thing they were interested in with Ralph and that's no good if she suddenly gets a better offer elsewhere. Now baring recasting she'll probably go, maybe after finishing Ralph's story with a suddenly shapeshifted version and maybe Blackhole. There's no particular reason to keep her around once that's done unless they desperately want to use her at Team Citizen. With DP I haven't seen a lot of her SM in the last few years but what I did always seemed to be a lot of the unfortunately very common snide/sly nastiness of actors who were jealous of their co-star's role and trying to make it theirs and so I was one that saw that as her big primary motivation, but I bow down to those who have seen more of her SM and know and experience a lot more of microaggression than me. As for whether they'll want to renew her contract? Who knows, both KF and Caitlin are more than played out at this point and she also might decide it's too much with a baby. However like KC on Arrow I have a feeling she's going to be one of the last ones out the door one way or another. We also don't know how much of her attitude actually shows up behind the scenes and with the people in charge.
  15. Those scenes read very Evelyn Sharpe/Baby Canary/Artemis in "Canary Cry". I know the scenes are often deliberately wrong to throw people off spoilers so take with a giant pinch of salt but they're definitely leaning towards the Kate is dead not just left Gotham option. I haven't watched Riverdale in years so I don't know much about her apart from recently calling the producers out on their treatment of black actors and characters so I don't know if she'd be a good fit. Is she LGBT? Assuming "CinemaSpot" actually does have the correct info it doesn't seem like she's got the part, just that she's testing for it, probably alongside others This I completely believe after whatever went down with RR. Meaning already experienced with spending months in Vancouver for scale pay on shows with insanely long hours and that don't necessarily have a great safety record.
  16. The headline is misleading but reading it again it does sound like a roundabout way of coming out, even though it's obviously not 100%. "Variation of my truth" "some truth to what she said about me" "it's been a long and lonely road for my husband and myself but we are still discovering ourselves and how to be proud of who we really are." I know that can mean a variety of things but on an LGBTQ website that's a coming out story. Obviously she's a strong ally but it could be more then that. Whatever issues she's thinking about are obviously deeply personal. I'm personally acquainted with a lot of "almost but not quite" coming out publicly issues so if it's that I definitely understand not spitting it out with other things going on in her life.
  17. Weren't she and her husband involved with a fairly fundamentalist church movement at one point, that they both credit with helping them get/stay clean? Those might be some of the friends/family she's talking about.
  18. Pretty much this. She could take over his business and join the girls at Team Citizen and if she had been announced as a regular already I could see this being tweaked, but she was there 99% to be Ralph's love interest, which is the only story they were interested in telling for him last season anyway. The main reason I assumed they'd want her as a regular was to make sure they could tell the love story. She and Hartley did have chemistry and it seemed like the show enjoyed the "old time PI caper" they had going but it's very easy to lift out of the show considering it had only been in 2-3 episodes, albeit foreshadowed a lot beforehand. If they did recast another regular as Ralph I can see them wanting Sue but there's absolutely no guarantee they would work together. Though they probably would try to chem test. It would be awkward if she had actually signed a contract that they were waiting to announce but considering that was wasn't upped with everyone else, the extended break and sure to be messy start of the season she may well have still been recurring.
  19. I said up thread he's going to have to be very careful going forward about what he says and how he reacts on social media. Now doesn't really seem like a great time for him to be taking fan driven questions. He should really be less podcast-y for longer, especially if he's not going to be making an effort to show he's educating himself or at least realising people have legitimate other experiences or POVs. It won't take much for him to say something that he might not mean exactly but won't be as easily ignored as everything else. Especially when companies start scouring social media history before hiring anyone for a big role or people can send lists of deleted tweets or posts to employers. I said on The Flash thread HS was easily let go-able but SA should be careful for his own job's sake if nothing else, like actually learning his lesson.
  20. I haven't read them personally but I remember them being described a while ago and it completely soured me on the whole "Ralph is a complete asshole but Hartley Sawyer seems like a good guy and is a good actor" thing I had going. Considering the rest of the recasting they have had in S6 and Ralph's shapeshifting I think there's potential for recasting but like with Batwoman where a recast makes sense they're more likely to just close the door on the character, especially as they have a lot of regulars for next season and Ralph had very little to do. Or have him shapeshift to finish off his story then leave. Had ND been made a regular? I thought she was still recurring. If she's still just recurring it would be easier to write her out as well. [cynicism] I guess part of it is they wanted to be seen to be doing something positive and proactive in the current charged climate and they have time to re plot things. If Ralph had been more prominent they might not have done (people who have said even worse still have high profile jobs in Hollywood) but he's only popped up once every few episodes recently. [/cynicism]
  21. No, nothing about Kate's exit has been confirmed or even strongly rumoured. People are speculating killing Kate is the way they'll go because a) it draws a line under Kate and Ruby which is what CD said GB advocated and there won't be any "Kate would definitely not ignore this injustice/threat". b) it's easiest to film - have someone in a Batsuit get killed in a huge fight. c) It gives the supporting cast, including Alice a reason to stick around and avenge/honour Kate. d) It gives nu!Batwoman who admired her a reason to put on the suit when it seems she's otherwise not really the type at all. They could do a voice over with Kate leaving everything behind for some reason but it's harder to do, especially with "Bruce's" arrival and Alice still causing chaos. Unless they have "Batwoman" kill Alice in the first ep back and leave in guilt and pain. I think so too, but I've seen a lot of "CD confirmed she's made up an original, non comics character!" which isn't what she said at all. Maybe, there might be some curiosity but most viewers are now set. I think the only reason they might hope for a bigger audience is if they cast a big name but I can't think of an actor who is out, a big name and willing to live in Vancouver 6-7 months of the year run ragged for CW scale pay. I mean RR was that person and it obviously didn't work out. I think this will turn more people off than get or keep more viewers but internet fans are only a small % so we'll see.
  22. DC would have had to sign off on this, they can't do anything without approval so they're OK, and possibly offering them another character to take over. I can actually see the CW having more reservation but they must have also signed off on it. There is no way to go about this that would be ideal or get everyone on board but I do think a recast of Kate, not just Batwoman would have been the better solution soap opera-y or not. So many of the plots are soapy. Not just from the storylines they have already set up but for their supporting cast and actors, many of whom are now potentially surplus to requirements if a new character brings in her own nemesis, family, potential girlfriend etc. The only one who's easy to transfer over is Luke. A part of me thinks they'll want to avoid the Dead Lesbian Trope like the plague because they've been there before and they've lampshaded other tropes via Parker's character. And the storm would be huge especially after so much bragging about the show. However I do think the easiest way for the supporting cast to stick around would be via avenging Kate's death and honour her and then boom, they've all bonded with nu!Batwoman. And they'll say it's actually honouring Kate's character by killing her off instead of leaving town because Kate would never abandon Gotham like that. Especially as they almost certainly wouldn't have RR on screen to explain why. And they'll point to Oliver Queen as an example of a straight white lead character they also killed off, even though it was the end of his show. And hey, look, it's Real!Batman come to visit.
  23. There have been various attempts to do something with Blue Beetle in the last few years either with Ted Kord or Jaime Reyes which I guess is why he was off the table. And hasn't he been in some animated movies? Also allegedly he was "too big a character" for an Arrowverse spin off at that point. Which never made any sense. Things do seem to have changed since then though. I assume she will be someone known at least in name, if not in anything recognisable about the character to attempt to pacify fans ala Dinah Drake vs "Sara" Lance who cannot possibly ever be BC even though her middle name could easily have been Dinah. Apart from Helena Wayne are their any other possible candidates?
  24. Apart from you know, every other reason why he should have thought twice or 10 times before what he said initially and how he responded to people, he's going to have to be careful otherwise this might end up costing him jobs in an already very uncertain time if it picks up steam. There's no guarantee what's going to start filming any time soon, especially a series that was sure to involve a lot of close contact and some new series already getting cancelled.
  25. I think you just revealed the storyline for next season. ☹️ They have a way to keep Alice and make her frenemy antagonist for a while and everyone else bands together in Kate's honour. Plus insert new Batwoman. They've done variations on that storyline before. Albeit not for a title character.
