    MSNBC

July 4, 2021. Four hours of Chris Hayes in a row is a whole lotta of Chris Hayes, especially when it is a lot of repeated material from past issues. Especially when hours three and four are repeats. They have all year to plan for the holiday "breaks" they want to give the main hosts -- I would certainly tune in for a new hour of Chris Jansing. I have no interest in old "news", and I just go to CNN when they do this.
  2. I keep seeing them on other MSNBC shows -- I wonder why they are on Rachel's show so infrequently (if at all -- have not seen Barb there since the election). Rachel trained me to rely on their insights about these major and intricate legal issues.
  3. The "Frasier" opening came while it was still warm! And yes, it was perfect! We are already back in the 60s in the early evenings, too chilly even to keep the windows open. This is "normal".
  4. I was thinking that I would happily watch The Manchurian Candidate with commentary by Rachel, even if the commentary is about her favorite moments in the film. Rachel telling Lawrence a Dad Joke was a moment of relief in a serious, serious week.
  5. Prize question from Mika to a physician: “Is this a risk that we are risking to risk? And what is the risk?”
  6. I hardly ever saw the show until the pandemic time, so I have seen well over 100 (?) shows from tiny spaces. It became a lifeline for me, and I laughed as much as I would for an audience show. It was indeed intimate, and it is going to take me a while to get used to the "regular" show in the theatre. Right now, it feels like they took a pure little art form and made it into a glitter Funfetti cake: glitzy, and somewhat familiar, but with me looking for the perfect cake I had been enjoying for the past fifteen months.
  7. Glad Joe is not negotiating for me. Joe: “If you cross me, YOU WILL FEEL PAIN.” I know this is one type of negotiation, but Joe just sounds mean.
  8. Why would they have Rachel's show's first episode back in the studio without Rachel? Did I miss something? Was she back in the studio a night or two ago? It is amazing to see Katie Benner sitting at the table. Less amazing to have it as an interview by Ali Velshi. (Is she over at the Colbert Show??!!)
  9. Yes, on the checklist of traits of a good father -- fought back the impulse to smother the baby to stop the crying.
  10. Or, as I started calling it when we saw Mare delete some footage, "Chekhov's backyard surveillance system." I knew it would come back to bite her or help her.
  11. I have no particular attachment to this show, and sneer at the hosts. But seeing them all at the table today was a Moment that made me think we may be actually getting past this virus.
  12. Wow, dress code is coat and tie. And they all looked so proud and shiny, Mika, Joe, and Willie, then Joe got a look of disgust, and snatched the glasses off his face.
  13. I have to wonder if she understood what role he had on the MTM show. You'd think a KYV expert would be familiar with one of the great early television shows about a woman pursuing a career. They said something on Friday's show, at the very end, about working on Memorial Day, but I was still surprised to see them today.
  14. Yes, I figured they were taking five days off. Tough gig.
  15. "Rachel has a well-earned night off" (and I would guess a long weekend off, well-earned) But hey, 1993: How old am I? That film clip of the 1993 "Ice cream party on Capitol Hill" looked like a colorized newsreel from World War II. I remember 1993. It was not as grainy and out of focus as that film would have you believe.
  16. Boy, Mika will not let go of the incorrect pronunciation of the name she calls “Weeeeselberg,” even after the legal guests say “Whyyyselberg.”
  17. I continue not to find it charming that Rachel thinks it is a jovial moment when she cannot pronounce a foreign name correctly. Last night, it was the newly elected President of Samoa, "I'm probably not getting this right," said Rachel. Yet, on NPR this morning, they said the name crisply with no hint of giggle. She has degrees from Stanford and Oxford, a staff who can get almost any expert on the phone, and there is no excuse for not getting the name right for the *subject* of a story she is reporting on. It is a sign of respect to acknowledge the correct name even when the language is unfamiliar, and exclusionary to draw attention to the "foreign" pronunciation. Some brave person on staff should volunteer to vet the names Rachel has to say on-air. Generally, you need to say a name a few times to get it right.
  18. Yes, same date announced on CNN, also! All vaccinated, masks optional. Who will the Guest(s) be?
  19. Joe gets a good paycheck; can’t he ask a tailor to make him a comfy blazer so he does not have to wear a sweatshirt with zipper?
  20. OMG, Rachel, you squirted lighter fluid into the engine of Susan's can while she was trying to start it? Multiple occasions? Is this a thing I have never heard of before? As she was raving about the Ford F-150 pickup, I was trying to recall the times she had mentioned having a pickup, like a Hallowe'en parade this past year, if I remember correctly? I loved that she then switched to the story and interview of Linda Zhang, the chief engineer of the new all-electric Ford F-150. HOW GREAT IS IT TO HAVE AN OPENING GUEST THAT IS NOT RELATED TO AN INDICTMENT OR CORRUPTION OR IMPEACHMENT? Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.
  21. They just wrapped the filming of the new Mystery 101 in Vancouver CA yesterday -- three weeks of filming. I know that is the Hallmark system, but it seems so fast!
  22. I am sitting here crunching my way through cut cantaloupe, and thinking that I agree with her about the uselessness of this and honeydew on a platter (love melons in season!).
  23. In the handoff from Chris to Rachel, she asked him if they could discuss the fact that Lawrence O'D got the first presidential interview. Chris: "you want to talk about that HERE?" Rachel: "Oh, I don't know -- but LAWRENCE?" (with incredulity in her voice). Ouch. I am sure she will smooth it over when she hands off to Lawrence, but that was quite an uncharacteristic show of envy from Rachel!
