  1. I missed seeing whatever Joe showed about the flag at the White House -- sounds like it was briefly lowered? I can't think of any other Senator/Rep who would get such wall to wall coverage. And this is way more than Gerald Ford received on any network, and he spent his whole life in public service.
  2. Yes, even Greta van Sustern (the Fox interviewer) was incredulous, and gave him several chances to back down. As Rachel called her: "my good friend Greta, and she really is." Rachel was mostly amazed that he would not back down. She also showed a Homeland Security statement that said this was false. Rachel gave a lot of time to the different activities of both father and son. I don't save most podcasts, and must have saved this because Rachel was having so much fun.
  3. Rachel mentioned the Duncan Hunter scandal briefly last week in the middle of all the other news -- and I just found a whole opening segment about both Reps. Duncan Hunters (father/son) when I was deleting old podcasts. November 12, 2015. She was amazed at both of them, and actually said "Ha!Ha!Ha!" at one point when the newer Hunter was trying to claim (on Fox News) that 10 ISIS agents had been captured at a border. I have to applaud her early radar about his lack of trustworthiness.
  4. I just saw a MeTV promo of Columbo impersonations, by other actors-- it is hilarious. Looks like it has been on the air for a few years, but I never saw it. Ed Begley Jr is particularly good: Yes, I saw a commercial for the Christmas movie season that will last two months! ?
  5. I'll check about Cozi -- I did not think I could get online access. I kind of liked having it as a late -night option on the actual television!
  6. I love it when David Cay Johnston is a guest on the show; I count the seconds until he calls the president "Donald", and tonight it was about 22 seconds. It is so disrespectful, and makes me laugh every time.
  7. "Rachel will be back on Monday." They are trying to keep us from freaking out! It worked! ETA: And Lawrence piled on by saying to Ali: "Thank you for filling in so Rachel could have a well-earned Friday off, FOR A CHANGE." Not ironically. (Rachel has hosted one Friday show this month, the Brennan interview last week. Three Fridays off. She did one Friday show in July. Good for her. Just sayin', it is not that unusual.)
  8. That was not a real chyron -- someone invented that on the interwebs and put it on an old image of Nicolle. Just to keep the record straight! The person who originally posted that on Twitter has taken it down, but it of course copied and circulating.
  9. Thank you; I really appreciate knowing in advance!
  10. She does a great job on her daily show. Today, she started without her intro music, and I thought she was going to announce that Senator McCain had died. But it appears to be her tribute in advance of his passing, which appears to be imminent. She is watching the conservative-middle party she worked for break apart, in the current Congress and with each passing figure she worked with, like Barbara Bush (lovely tribute to her a few months ago) and now Senator McCain. And she played famous clips we have seen, like McCain telling a woman that candidate Obama was not a Muslim (because it was an incorrect statement), then Nicolle said about those clips: "I was there for all of them". The past Republican leaders are deep in her history. I try to see her show most days. Yes, she has an easy laugh and great contacts in D.C. -- and has a good heart, which we especially see today.
  11. She actually was parodying the tongue-twister sentence, and what she said was "the pickle Pecker put the president in". So, in this case, it was the measure "peck", not the schoolyard joke. (A peck is one-fourth of a bushel. "A peck of pickled peppers" "I love you, a bushel and a peck." [Guys and Dolls!])
  12. I didn't even mind, just was trying to figure out if I missed that on her show! Thanks!
  13. Was that actually on the air?! ETA: She wore purple today, so I'll guess this is just a brilliant invention!
  14. Just when you thought Rachel reading transcripts was the height of entertainment, she elevates our culture by reading a year's worth of National Enquirer covers. That was terrifying and hilarious-- how is that possible? And all day I have avoided making any jokes about the name Mr. Pecker, because I am not nine years old. And Rachel have us permission to be nine times whatever, which is now a fine age for jokes. And so we have the pickle Mr. Pecker put the President in.
  15. That is a super idea. Or someone should tweet a thread of images with thought bubbles. One should be in the form of a hostage plea for "Help me".
  16. "Whether you call it narcissism or intense self-absorbtion." Um, those are exactly the same thing. That from someone named Jeremy, I think. If they are going to run the show as eight necklace locket pictures, they need to find a better way to display them on the screen. It's just not attractive. ETA: just saw Katty Kay, whose face is stretched so tight that she has no facial movement. Oy.
  17. I said over in the Rachel thread earlier that he must not have slept at all, because his mid-day interviews were awful. Chris could have waited another day or two, and would have been better off waiting for a more alert Lanny. What beach did they troll to find Charlie Pierce? He looks like he can hardly wait to get back to looking for objects with his metal detector. Fitting that he said "a lagoon of money sloshing around" (campaign slush).
  18. It was great that Rachel was the first to interview Lanny Davis, aside from the fandom, because she got him while he was fresh off the courtroom event and was full of energy and a story to tell. He has been on many shows I have seen and not seen today, the day after Rachel's show, and I am guessing he has not slept, because he is very, very labored in his answers, and looks like twelfth-generation copy on an older photocopy machine. The excitement and crispness are gone. Emily Jane Fox, on the other hand, looks as fresh and is as articulate as she was on Rachel's show, although she also could not have had much sleep. Barbara McQuade always looks like she is ready to present her case to the court; she has also been on many shows in the past 24 hours. I appreciate that the studio where Barbara McQuade does her interviews swaps out the daytime and evening backdrops of Ann Arbor, depending on the time of day. Rachel gets the evening backdrop.
  19. It has been a while since I have wanted to download a podcast of an episode, and it was a good surprise to find out that they are now including two hours' worth of show (one hour and 31 minutes without the commercials, yeah!). But today's show was a keeper.
  20. Emily Jane Fox must have slept in someone's office -- she was in "The 11th Hour" and first up this morning.
  21. It's alive! The show is breathing again! "Joe is tweeting." Um, whatever.
  22. I heard the voice, somewhat familiar, and thought, "could it be?"! Yes, Meeeka!!!
  23. I have to say that Avenatti is being very smart by being subdued, and handing credit to Stormy Daniels for being willing to step forward. "Second quarter of a four-quarter game," he said twice on Lawrence's show, and I think he plans a few touchdowns in the second half. Jill Wine-Banks's pin tonight was a pen, which she said on twitter could represent "Cohen signing a plea deal, Manafort signing back in to jail and Trump thinking about signing pardons to save himself". It must be so amazing for her to have Watergate over forty years in the rearview mirror, and to find herself in the center of commentary on such a presidential series of courtroom and plea scenarios.
  24. If your carrier still has Cozi -- which Comcast has dropped in my market in the past year. :(
