  1. The only person on this show that should be allowed to sing is the incredible Rita Ora. I loathe Robin singing, but Ken singing might even be worse. Jenny is not a singer and knows it, so she spoke/rapped her line, and seemed fine. I liked all of the singers tonight except for Fuzzy Peas. He was better than last week, but not on the same level as the other three.
  2. I must not have been paying attention because I completely missed that. I thought this was an exciting episode. Although I feel like I also missed what happened at the end, or perhaps editing cut out a lot? Evie and the guests all got their bindings snipped with one pair of scissors in about 10 minutes. Then suddenly, they are all free. These unarmed civilians took out 11 terrorists with punches and a champagne bottle? Evie sees Fake Captain shooting at JD and tackles him overboard. Deshawn dives in and saves her. Then the next scene, JD is using an axe to chop the chains so he can turn the helm. What happened to all of the terrorists? What happened to Fake Captain? Did I miss a scene of them pulling Fake Captain out of the water, or authorities rounding up all the terrorists? The scene seemed to cut from JD turning the ship to him arriving back at the NCIS office.
  3. So now my question is that if Will dumped Em to stay with Julie, only to get dumped in return by Julie, why does he act like he doesn't want to talk with Em? She seemed receptive to being with him so why didn't he go back to her? Embarrassment? Shame? "Hey, sorry, I made a mistake. Can we start again." Then see what she says. She admitted to Adam Noshimuri (still don't know his name, but he seems to be a complete sad sack on this show) that she is not over Will and that she only used Adam to get back at Will. So why doesn't she just go to Will and talk to him? So irritating. These people are pushing 40. They're not teens in high school.
  4. Great news about the renewal! Ugh about Phelps returning, why? We don't need him and his poor "it should have been ME" attitude. Disappointing that they don't list Evan McCabe / Fitzroy among the returning cast. But they don't list Felix Scott / Nash either, and in the plot descriptions later, they mention Nash, so I'm hoping he will appear.
  5. I don't remember who Salazar is but I guess he is going to be the bad guy for the rest of the season. I am dreading for when Fisk returns from the dead, I truly cannot stand Fisk and Donal Logue. To the point when Donal Logue showed up on another show (Murdoch Mysteries), I took an instant dislike to that character. I agree. I didn't know how much Robyn views that car as one of the last tangible connections she has with her deceased father until this episode. But Delilah was dumb for allowing Cam to drive the car. She should have firmly told him that it was for looking only. We saw some of it in progress, it looked more like a modern art interpretation. I know we've seen examples of Vi's paintings before, this was definitely not the same style. Same. I just don't care about Dante at all anymore. Don't care about his issues with his father. Don't care about him and Robyn together. The worst part about Dante being back in New York is that we are going to see this captain all the time. The captain being angry and irritable is beyond tired.
  6. I've always been fascinated with Automats. I wish we saw more detail of it in the show. When the characters entered the back area, it seemed like the cubby holes were just open shelves. I thought from the description of the owner that these were sophisticated machines that kept the food at proper temperature. Or did I just miss that each hole had a back door? I know that Murdoch Mysteries has a history of casting minority or LGBTQ actors in minor bit roles. But how historically accurate is the Indian restaurant owner? He had no accent, implying he was at least second generation Canadian. And I thought at that point in time, almost all Indian immigrants settled in British Columbia. Since when did Effie and Miss Cherry of all people become the two lead actresses on this show? Why are they on practically every week? I thought their storyline was extraneous. The morality officer is beyond irritating. Effie at least could mention hearing from George or letting us know where he is. Is Jonny Harris ever going to return?
  7. Ah my bad, you are correct. These two are so wishy washy I got it wrong. Will decided that Em was his person and he was going to dump Julie. Then Laka said something about money. Next we know, Will is telling Em that he is staying with Julie. He goes to see her and she tells him that she knows he was with Em in the week she was gone and she dumps him. Sorry, I must have been tired when I watched. It was Laka and Kainalu that rescued the cliff jumpers, right? Then Will rescued the two paddle boarders. He sent the male one floating in on the board on his own and then went to rescue the woman. How can the woman be blaming her boyfriend for not saving her, they were both in trouble?
  8. Portia wasn't around in Season 1, so Belinda never met her. If Tonya had an assistant in Season 1, she didn't bring her to Hawaii. I don't think Tonya ever shared with Portia her suspicions that the English guy was conspiring with Greg to steal her money. Portia knew there was something weird going on with the "nephew". I wonder how much, if anything, we viewers will learn about what the public was told about what happened on that yacht. It could very well be that the police attributed the deaths, including Tonya, to persons unknown. Belinda clearly recognises Greg but she only knew Greg as Tonya's boyfriend. None of the swindling plot happened until long after Tonya left WL Maui. Carrie C00n's character isn't unattractive, but she's definitely being made to feel by the other two like she is the third wheel who isn't good enough for them. They have been friends since they were 9 but whatever she has done in life doesn't seem to measure up. Her hair looks bad to me. The Queen Bee friend's hair looks glamorous, like the TV star she is. The sidekick friend's hair looks short and professional, like a successful rich mom. But Carrie C00n (Laurie?) has hair that looks like she stuck her finger into an electric socket. I wonder if they are intentionally trying to make it look like she cuts her own hair, like she is trying to keep up with her friends but can't afford it.
  9. Agree. It seems to me that this is not a rescue show at all, there's hardly any rescuing. It's a relationship show. And unfortunately, I don't feel strongly about any of the relationships that this episode was devoted to. I don't care about the relationship between Hina and her mom or her cousin (or whoever the teen girl was supposed to be). I did enjoy seeing Hina teaching the hula. I can imagine that this actress is from Hawaii and grew up going to a dance class like this. I like that she and her mom are committed to keeping tradition alive. I don't care about the relationship between Sonny and his daughter. I pretty much don't care about Sonny, at all. Although I like both Will and Em, I am sick of this show being 80% focused on their relationship. Em was acting like a wronged woman. She's jealous that Will is talking to other women, when she is the onoe that dumped him. She found out after the fact that Will dumped Julie, and had every opportunity to talk with him about this, but did not. Will for some reason doesn't want to talk to her either. Instead, Em uses the fire guy, who is a chump for full well knowing what she is doing but then goes through with it anyways. Will went on a bad date and then has a random hookup with a woman who tells him she has a boyfriend but doesn't care. Show needs to just decide, because it's beyond old. As for the rescue itself, ehhh. The friend shouldn't have pushed Will's fling but it was hardly her fault that a wave knocked her into that rock. Boyfriend jumps in and hurts his ankle and then just clings to a different rock. His girlfriend is unconscious and he can't even try to swim the ten feet over to her? Um ok. But she was wrong to blame him for doing absolutely nothing, he did jump in after her, but then he failed. It would have been better if he too had been knocked unconscious. I wanted to see if Kainalu got together with Hina's friend. I thought Hina and Kainalu were going to get together after he almost died, she seemed very concerned about him, but this week they act like they're back to being co-workers and roommates. Hina seemed jealous that Kainalu was talking with her friend.
  10. I don't think Belinda should care. She spent all of Season 1 befriending Tonya and listening to her problems and enduring the endless crying about her dead mom. She talked to Tonya about opening her own spa with Tonya as the primary investor. Tonya was very interested and they bonded. Then Tonya met Greg and completely blew off Belinda and focused all of her time and attention on him. Belinda was devastated when Tonya told her she wasn't going to invest. She might have heard about the death of a guest at a White Lotus in Italy, and made the connection, but she probably meets hundreds of people every week. She had a brief bond with Tonya, but as with most guests, the guest leaves and Belinda never heard from her again. I don't think Belinda met Greg, did she? Even if she did, at that point, Greg seemed like he had nothing but good intentions. Belinda wouldn't have known anything about Greg's plot to steal Tonya's money.
  11. I enjoyed the season finale, I only wish the season wasn't so short. I know British shows tend to have shorter seasons, but why can't they at least have 10 episodes? I don't understand how Phelps was back in the fold. Last time, he was on suspension and not working. How is it that he was there working as if nothing had happened? Because Eliza vouched for him in the last case? Unfortunately, it looks like he is sticking around. I can't believe the British secret service lady allowed Fitzroy to be beaten so savagely. They could have just robbed him and run away, they didn't have to put him in the hospital. Blake invited Eliza in, indicating perhaps the start of their courtship. Hoping the show is renewed.
  12. I enjoy the frenetic pace of this show. I love seeing them grab stuff and then try and figure out what to do with it. I was fine with Ilena going first. Incredibly irritating. She's a grown ass woman and weeping the second she realises she didn't get anything to make a sauce. She could have made a butter sauce or something, isn't there a pantry with staples like salt etc. She said she wanted to be an example for her kids but what she showed us was just not good. I was fine with Jake, the former child actor, going home. His efforts didn't seem great. Who was the one that one that was going to make something with a creamy garlic butter sauce? That sounded gross. Was that Misty? I was disappointed that Keith was eliminated over Misty. I didn't think his steak was great but her dish was equally lackluster and given that she was in the bottom two on a previous round, I would have sent her home. So many of these contestants have absolutely zero personality, so I appreciated Keith's exuberance. I also liked his story, he's from Watts and he runs a food truck. I think of it as a season with 24 contestants. 8 each round and we get three eliminations right away. This at least allows for 24 people to get chosen out of thousands, as opposed to 15, and it allows for the mentors to see who they want for their teams. I don't think there is a Jack. There was a Jake who got sent home in the middle floor. I think the entire chicken guy is Jeff? The Asian guy.
  13. I got Blake as well. I guess Blake likes history and Agatha Christie!
  14. Apart from the rich family, I was having trouble keeping track of all of the characters, especially their names. The three blonde friends, it's like they are the Crawley sisters on Downton Abbey. There's the Lady Mary main character hot one (Michelle Monaghan, the TV star), the just as hot one who is just as rich (Leslie Bibb), and then the sad sack woe-is-me Lady Edith frumpy one. The show purposely makes Carrie C00n look frumpy, that trapezoid haircut is definitely not flattering. Then there's guy who wants to meet owner's American husband to do a business deal and his much younger English girlfriend. There's the lady the English girlfriend met at the bar who apparently is dating Greg. Is this the same lady that Saxon hit on at the pool? The Ratliff family does seem all kinds of messed up. Dad's business is failing and in trouble and he appears to have made some sort of illegal deal that has backfired. Mom pops pills and is generally trying to keep up her image as a perfect Southern rich wife. As for the siblings, that tweet posted above seems to imply that there will be incest. The "other HBO show that got away with it" seems to be Game of Thrones. I really hope the sister is not involved. Saxon seems like a player, he is telling his younger brother that you have to play the numbers, i.e. keep trying and at some point you will succeed. Don't see why he would turn to his sister. The younger brother seems to idolise him and probably wants to be him. Saxon knows it, that's why he sleeps naked in the same room as his brother and doesn't care. But he does see Locky creepily staring at him in the bathroom and closes the door. I think it will be a threesome where Saxon invites a woman back into their room for Locky's benefit. Then Locky indicates he is more interested in Saxon? I knew that Greg was going to be alive. I assume he got all of Tonya's money. I hope he gets his just desserts this season. He's not a particularly entertaining character so I don't know why the show has to keep him around. I don't know what is going on with Natasha but I hope she survives.
  15. Saint Maroun: "if you don't respect my opinion on this issue, then I don't know what the hell I'm doing in this office" Me shouting at the screen: "Me neither! It's about time for you to GTFO!" I think Maroun and Olivia Benson both need to quit their respective jobs and open up their own defence firm specialising in the defence of abused women. This issue clearly sends both of them over the edge, consistently. Maroun should not be allowed to try any case involving this issue, she is too emotional about it. This really should be the episode where the show producers decide it's time to get a new ADA. How did Maroun survive Baxter's housecleaning? I would think he would have done interviews of everyone in the office when he joined and he should have been able to determine that this woman is a public defender masquerading as a prosecutor. I felt badly for Abigail Spencer, but her actions directly led to the death of her daughter. She didn't deserve such a light sentence. If they were basically going to give her a slap on the wrist, there at least could have been some additional element. Like making her give all of the profits of her films to a charity set up for abuse victims.
  16. I would have kept Honeypot over the Peas. I don't know what the judges are hearing, but I thought Peas was pretty awful. It's very easy to do karaoke to "La Bamba", that song has no range and it is very repetitive. All he had to do was just throw in some yodelling and the audience is impressed. I loathe both Lea Michele and Lindsey Lohan, so I'm really hoping that Ant is Kesha or someone else besides those two.
  17. I've complained before that the rescues on this show are so boring and lackluster and over so quickly. This episode did not disappoint. I thought this was the most exciting episode yet. The bomb explosion and rescue was exciting. I also loved the extensive underwater camera work in this episode. The turtles, the bombs, the recruits carrying the rocks. I agree that the recruit storyline was a waste of time. The storyline with the influencer (how I loathe that word!) was a waste of time. We didn't even get any payoff. I at least wanted to see Hina being made into a social media sensation when her ripping into the 40 million viewers lady was posted and re-posted everywhere on social media and that the influencer was exposed as a fraud. The previews last week made it seem like Will was going to die. Obviously it wasn't going to be Will, since the coffin was draped in a U.S. flag and the lifeguards are part of a state not federal agency. I knew it was going to be Kenny since he was the only one of the Navy guys who received a name and they mentioned his wife so they were going for a big emotional impact. But I was still hoping for Laka to save him and then they have a laugh about the pickleball bet. It was one week later, but it did seem awfully quick for him to look like nothing happened. They at least could have shown him using a cane to indicate he wasn't 100% steady on his feet.
  18. I enjoyed this episode, although for some reason, I had the hardest time keeping track of who was who. The dead guy was Barrett. His partner was Kapoor. Barrett's wife was having an affair with Kapoor. Barrett's brother wanted attention so he stole the manuscript that Barrett had written and was going to pass it off as his own. Barrett's wife didn't like either her husband or her lover and wanted to be rid of both, and wanted the manuscript so she could "discover" it after husband's death and attain glory for herself. Kapoor's wife didn't really have anything to do with it. She was just a self-obsessed red herring. I liked the advancement in the relationship between Blake and Eliza. The daughter likes her too, it seems natural that these two will end up together. However, I really hope the show avoids this protracted "will they or won't they", assuming it comes back next season. Show has already done this with William and it dragged on for far too long. I groaned when Phelps popped up. I haven't missed him at all. I do hope he gets that job in the other station, so he can be off the show. I don't care about his sob story. Eliza was far more charitable to him than I would have been. She lied for him so he wouldn't get in trouble, and when Blake said "is this true", I think he full well knows that it was not. Although I missed Ivy, the best part of this episode was that the absence of the sputtering and irritating Mr. Potts and the absence of the overused Clarence.
  19. Thanks! To be honest, after this season's first episode, I too had mostly forgotten everything that happened, especially why Nash was in prison, so I went back and rewatched last season's finale! Mr. Potts is incredibly annoying and overexposed. Not sure why he and Ivy are together if as he says, they have been engaged for two years but she has no desire to actually set a date. It was revealed in this episode that Ivy was afraid of leaving Lizzie alone. Which I completely understand. But really, over the course of two years and Ivy and Mr. Potts have never had this discussion where she explains why? I get that he is the morgue guy so will need to be seen on the show, but can he be only the morgue guy? I don't need to see him intruding upon Eliza's home life, bickering over who will wash dishes or cook. And now he's going to be living there, probably forever. Ugh.
  20. I think the writers are aware of the suicide clause, and so were the father and daughter. That's why they tried to make it look like a murder, so the insurance company would pay out. Now that the scheme was uncovered, there's no way the insurance company is paying. The daughter is going to prison for 5 years for manslaughter and the son doesn't get the insurance money. Presumably the son was kept in the dark about the plan to get him some money. Otherwise he could be charged with insurance fraud as well.
  21. On another note, does anyone besides me really hate the opening credits? I know the days of extended credits and theme songs are long gone (like with "Baywatch"). But the credits for this show seem really disjointed. I especially hate the stupid voiceover clips. Sonny: "welcome to the North Shore". Will: "it's gettin dainjurruss". And I especially loathe unidentified voice: "gogogogogo". So stupid. They could have at least composed a short but catchy instrumental track like "Hawaii 5-0" had.
  22. Me! I'm with you, I thought this was a fairly boring episode. So much build up and then nothing happened. Was it because there wasn't enough budget to show a tsunami? I wanted to see the characters being heroes in the face of deadly danger. I wanted to see them being the last ones on the beach trying to rescue the stragglers while the big wave is approaching in the far distance. Yes, I could tell right away that the actor who plays Sonny is from New Zealand. He sounds like Phil Keoghan from The Amazing Race. He's not making any effort at all to hide his accent. Maybe Sonny is originally from New Zealand? I don't think the show has ever said one way or the other. Everyone else sounds American to me. Laka has what I think sounds like a Hawaiian surfer accent.
  23. I hope Nash isn't really gone, he is such a great character. Last season I thought they were going to set up a triangle with William/Eliza/Nash but it didn't happen. Then this season I thought that there was going to be an eventual triangle with Blake/Eliza/Nash, but she doesn't seem to even consider Nash a possibility. Now he is leaving (at least for now). Clarence is a decent supporting character, but I would rather have Nash, Fitzroy or Moses on a more regular basis. There's been an overload of Clarence and Mr. Potts this season, and not much from Nash and Fitzroy. I miss Moses, don't understand why he is gone since we never got an in-show explanation. I'm assuming the actor had a conflict. In the season finale of last season, he was found standing over a body and then he fled. Turns out the body was one of his informants. Eliza and Fitzroy try to figure out what is going on while looking for Nash. They find Nash in an abandoned factory. He tied up the real killer, who also happened to have killed Nash's brother some years before. Nash is about to kill the man and get his revenge, but Eliza steps in front of the gun. She doesn't want Nash to become a murderer. She talks him out of it by reminding him that he is the only one who ever believed in her. This touches him and he agrees. But the killer escaped his bonds, he is about to attack Eliza, so Nash shoots him in the arm. Nash isn't a murderer but he did kidnap the guy, so he goes to prison for kidnapping. He loses his detective licence and the office closes, which is why Eliza was back in her father's old office. The last scene of the episode was her admiring the newly painted sign that has her name on it.
  24. I was pleasantly surprised when this episode opened in London. I thought we were only getting one episode with Helene Joy, so I was happy when I realised we were getting another. However, it seems William is returning home, so that's probably it for her for the season. If the show gets renewed I do hope that she will return. I liked the second Julia episode better than the first one. Mainly because I can't stand Donal Logue and I was annoyed that what I thought was Helene's only episode this season seemed more like her taking a backseat to Donal Logue and William. I liked that in this suffragette episode it was more of her storyline than William's since she was the connection to all of these people. The Violet storyline... ugh. She has been shady, then good, then bad, then good, then bad, then good again. I'm glad they finally decided she is on the side of good, but why the manufactured drama? I call BS on this husband, they just wanted to create yet another issue for her. I guarantee that at the time she was married to Arthur they never even contemplated that she was married before. It's 1912. She has been on the show for years now, and I think each season is a new year. An American Black lady with no formal medical education becomes the city coroner for Toronto, and nothing is ever written about her? Wouldn't this husband of hers have been searching for her all this time? I feel like he should have found her almost immediately. I have to assume budget is still an issue for this show. Makes me worry about its future. Choi and Brackenreid and Watts didn't appear in this episode. Higgins hasn't appeared in several episodes. I miss Higgins. Why has Effie appeared so many times this season? Why can't she be offscreen like George? I'd rather see Higgins and Ruth instead of Effie. Is the Tucker storyline done? He got fired by Choi, went to the mob guy for a job, who declined to hire him. Is that the last we have seen of him? I assume he has to come back but I hope whenever he comes back, it gets resolved neatly.
  25. I thought overall this was a good episode. I wasn't prepared for the daughter being the killer in an assisted suicide way... I thought it was going to be another one of those where the brother got immunity but then revealed on the stand that he was the actual killer. I didn't mind the juxtaposition of Nolan's issues with his dad versus the parallels of the dad in this case. The woman expressing that she just wanted to follow her dad's wishes and let her dad go made Nolan realise that he needed to let his own dad go and it made him agree to the plea. It was purely to defraud the insurance company. I don't think she should have gotten a plea. She could have let her dad go in other ways, like letting him take pills that would have ended his life quickly and painlessly. Instead, she schemed with him to deceive the police and the insurance company into thinking he was the victim of a violent robbery. I was annoyed that nothing was mentioned about the insurance fraud. Yes, she got five years for manslaughter, but I think there should have been additional years for the fraud. Why take pills and make it look like an obvious suicide when you can defraud the insurance company and get a free $10 million for your deadbeat son? I'm wondering why the daughter was the one to kill him. She didn't need the money. She is now paying the price for a scheme that primarily benefitted her brother. Did she even appear in the courtroom for the trial? If so, I didn't notice her. I think her only role was to be a red herring, to make it look like she was a suspect. Why the need to even make him married at all?
