  1. Yeah no way should the witchfinders gave gotten downstream faster than the raft.
  2. I’m thinking the kicker hated that his mom worked and wasn’t home to feed him a snack after school.
  3. apparently all the queen does is have orgasms and give speeches. i do wonder how the twins were able to teach themselves to read. i guess for the most part, people used the same words for things and they found them in the picture book and from there learned how the various letters must sound. works for hard sounds, but more difficult for softer or silent sounds/letters.
  4. Well someone had to be the connection between Pavich and the group, and after Millar was killed Henry was the only character left we knew other than Ruby. Millar getting whacked was a bit unexpected. How did Sugar know which CD to grab? id love a second season
  5. It would seem that Calvin’s mother did not realize that Calvin was getting letters from all sorts of money grabbers. She thought she was the only one writing to him and he read her letters and rejected her. So she never thought to involve the attorney. seems like an unfinished story with the cooking show looking for a new star and the neighborhood on its way to being a freeway. took a bit of digging but I finally found information about the extension of Interstate 10 west of Los Angeles. Apparently the two choices were bulldoze through West Adams or fraternity and sorority rows at USC. Yeah we know who won that fight. but recently that area has had some restoration of the old houses and mansions. not surprising since home values have soared in California. still can’t find anywhere that remotely resembles the lake or river and park area where they rowed. We didn’t hear anything about Calvin’s father. Was he a boy his mother had a crush on? A teacher that took advantage ? Did she ever tell him about the child or the man? Another missing part of the story.
  6. I will assume that Hastings accountants just saw the order for equipment and never looked at the delivery address. They would just assume the chemists needed a restock of equipment. nice fake out on the girl and then using it to explain how Elizabeth got the cooking job. At that time, men worked all day and did not cook much at all, unless maybe divorced. Very few would watch a cooking show likely in the late afternoon. i still want to know where they are rowing in the fictional river in Los Angeles
  7. i thought it was pretty clear that Elizabeth was relatively normal* at college and became emotionally flat and closed off after she was assaulted. she probably (at least partly) blamed herself, that she was "too friendly" to her professor and he "misunderstood." At a minimum, everyone else likely told her that. so by shutting off her emotions at work, she would not accidently be "too friendly" to another man who might "misunderstand" and assault her. we see that when Calvin closed the door that one time, she went into panic mode again afraid she had been "too friendly". she lowered her shell to Calvin once it became clear that Calvin was not like that, he respected her as an equal, and did not assault her. the shell was still there at work with everyone else. we now see it more now because Calvin is dead. *it also sounds like something occurred in Elizabeth's past that contributes to her shell, with her brother dying and her not speaking with her parents since she was 17. I'm trying to figure out where this show is located. I know Los Angeles, and likely somewhere near where I-10 runs between downtown LA and Santa Monica. but i am not aware of any rivers in that area (or in most of LA) that would be suitable for rowing, or boat houses.

    Season 01

in general, i thought this was pretty good. the hijak itself was suspenseful as well as Sam's working both sides to resolve problems. the reason for the hijak along with need to "clean" the others involved and their family seemed a bit too far out. did they have cleaners on the families of Amanda and the guy who brought on the guns? and i guess had a spare set to go after Sam's family? they didn't have one at "mum's" house, but maybe they felt sure she'd keep quiet? not sure why though if her sons were under the impression that the plane would eventually land. so i guess technically pilots are not supposed to open the door no matter how many passengers a hijaker killed as a threat? the captain sure blew it, but there wouldn't be a movie if he didn't open the door. and stock shorting is still confusing to me. I think i get the mechanics. Person A "borrows" high value stock from person B and sells the stock while its high, then buys the stock back when it falls low and keeps the profits while returning the borrowed stock back to Person B, who now owns stock worth a whole lot less (and person B was unable to sell his stock while it was high, before it crashed, because he had loaned it to person A). So why would person B ever "loan" their stock to A? wouldn't someone know that's the scheme when someone asks to borrow their stock? or i think i've heard that person A "pledges" to buy stock from "the market". and based on that pledge A "sells stock" (that he technically doesn't really own yet) at the high price, waits for the price to drop, then fulfills the pledge by actually buying the stock now at the low price, and thus has the stock to transfer to whoever bought it from him when the price was high. again, this sounds like a total scam.

    S01.E10: Outside

I too think Bernard had no idea about the big metal door until Juliette told him. He knew there was a hard drive, but not what was on it. If he did, he would have told the IT people to close their eyes before the green landscape video played. there are at least 18 Silos, for hard drive 18, info on the Silo and Bernard’s key fob. The hard drive must have gone missing since the rebellion. So the silos were always intended to keep people in and punish them by cleaning. maybe during the rebellion when this hard drive was lost, so was the info about connecting silos. But there is no indication any other silo tried to connect to this one, so either other silos failed or they were intended to be separate. it did seem like a smaller space for the silos outside rather than inside considering the space needed for crops and animals
  10. I’m guessing Sims and/or his wife have some relics in their unit they don’t want the raiders to see. That is why she refused their entry. but she has a heart of some sort, more than her son. the cleaning video looked exactly like what Holster saw, the birds were the give away. Clearly video is possible. So what does the outside really look like? I guess the power/Bernard are “for the Silo” because that is where their power is. Wouldn’t have it if people knows more about outside or the before times. i wish Paul had hid the book like Jules did.
  11. So yeah I believe Bernard is the main bad guy. He tried to push Juliette away from the judge, who is just a figure head. but why? Sure population control is important, but why give some false hope? Maybe that is why there used to be a rebellion? And the rebellion was trying to keep books and relics not destroy them and the water drugs made everyone else forget.

    S01.E06: The Relic

Heh,Holston told her to double the flowers in front of the mirror. still wondering where he hid the hard drive and papers. Why not with the file?
  13. “They” decide who gets a sanctioned marriage and who gets to have a child. And the opening credits turn the staircase into a dna strand. Is someone running a breeding program?
  14. The apples are probably to help with the organic breakdown of the body and it looked like they were in an apple orchard so planting new trees. Judicial still needed a patsy for the deaths and Trumbull ended up it. Though no explanation is given as to why. And we still don’t know exactly who killed Narnes and Jahns though I’m guessing it’s Sims who did it to help get nichols off of being sheriff. maybe billings will be too much of a good guy and go against sims

    S1.E04: Truth

Looks like a lot of kids do apprenticeships which are probably needed more then book learning. glad I waited to binge this.
  16. heh, didn't realize the whole season wasn't out when i binged over the weekend. at least it just until friday. i don't get why the politician's son would risk kidnapping the granddaughter of a famous director/producer. he had to know someone would come looking for her, unlike an anonymous migrant (whom i assume he killed before - getting the girls from swallings). and don't get how this politician found out about Sugar's people or how Sugar's people found out about Swallings. hopefully some of these questions are answered in the finale. seems like someone in the group did something that brought them to the politician's attention, which is more than just 'observing.'
  17. Just started this show. certainly more realistic than Fallout on having people and facilities in one place for a catastrophic world ending type event. the show deliberately not showing us what Holston saw after he took off his helmet. but we saw that he did not see his wife's body with the helmet on, yet seemed to see it when he took it off, since he was able to reach her body. so is the outside something in between? or as desolate as it shows, but the blue sky/green grass is shown to the cleaners to encourage them to clean the screen/camera lens? if the air is toxic, and clearly people are dying from something, there is no incentive to make the suits better?

    S01.E03: Machines

interesting that the exterior screen view glitched there for a sec when the generator was turned off. so what is the real view, desolate or green. so they have some tech, but clearly no cameras in the silo. was the mayor the target or the deputy? sure didn't seem like the deputy poisoned her, but i didn't see anyone else around their water bottles. Now Juliette has two murders to solve. the computer guy was careful, how did someone find out what he did/was doing and killed him just before he divulged his secret to Juliette?
  19. So I get why Jo flip back and forth and why Henry/Bud bleed into each other, but why does Alice? She never went to space. And how did Henry/Bud flip at the end? And I got confused on which was which of Henry/Bud. Henry fixed Apollo 18 and saved his crew but transferred to Buds body where the crew was dead so he created CAL? And Bud had his crew die but woke up in Henry’s body with them alive, became a hero, wrote a book someone “helped” him with, became an alcoholic and lived in the small apartment ? And then somehow switched when henry came into proximity with the CAL and Bud stopped taking the meds?
  20. So I can sort of understand how Paul and Jo flipped universes but why does Alice? and I do not understand why Paul’s wife has a different name and she’s not mad a Paul for forgetting it
  21. At first I thought flipping back and forth in timelines and there is some of that but it looks now more like parallel universes?
  22. i think you mean Vault 32, which apparently was a lot like vault 33, meant to be happy sunny obedient people who would breed with vault 31 and do whatever the managers told them to do. not sure how being happy sunny obedient people would help them take over or lead the outside world though. it also doesn't really explain the storm trooper guards in vault 33 that forced the chosen people to vault 32. i am presuming there were similar guards in vault 32 and that is who vault 32's happy sunny obedient people fought with when they found out the truth. how/why are the guards not also 'happy sunny obedient' people, but just 'obedient'? maybe when the children grow up the managers can figure out who is 'happy sunny' and who isn't, but will still be obedient.
  23. one would think, but if a parent does not know what section the book came from, how would they know if its explicit or not?
  24. almost to black jackets in S5. I just finished the king crab episode and had to laugh how Gordon rejected both teams "selected" crab dish instead told Paula and Daniel to bring their's up, and Gordon loved both. I notice that the show gets a lot of talking heads from Daniel, but not that many from Paula, who are my picks for the final 2 (and clearly Gordon knows by now who can cook and who can't). this leads me to suspect Daniel is the ultimate winner. he certainly has the arrogant attitude down pat.
  25. I do not agree with book bans. i note a similarity between the bruhaha over "explicit" material in books and the bruhaha over "explicit" material in songs/music back in the 80s. the result was merely requiring music publishers to print an "E" on the albums. So why not do the same thing for books? Putting the "E" on albums really didn't do a whole lot to keep it out of kids hands, but i guess at least the parent could easily see it and, you know "parent the kids." So do the same for books, if that is your concern, that kids are getting books that parents don't always know contains "explicit" material.
