  1. Why didn’t they go to Dodi’s apartment straight from Villa Windsor as was told the driver initially? Why go to the Ritz at all?
  2. I think Swan figured out something bad was going on and brought his army buddies in on it. But they were all discovered. I can’t see anyone owning a dog they care about letting it die. Even if swan was away he’d have someone get his dog. Swan is dead.
  3. I presume women took every clothes changing as an opportunity to use the loo. This explains why rich women changed clothes a lot. they probably kept visits and outings short, ate and drank little while away from home
  4. How did Maude receive these invitations to parties and other events? aren't those delivered to an address, oftentimes by livery/footmen? i don't think they had PO boxes back then. i would think it odd if the only address provided was this rented business office. like others, i am amazed that there was just this acceptance of a person nobody knew, because of "rumours" of whose daughter she was (on both mother and father side). and Oscar's acceptance that this woman would just be waiting outside for him because she 'wanted air.' And wouldn't this young unmarried woman have had some sort of 'companion' accompany her places? i wonder if it was because of his homosexuality, and never dating women previously (other than his neighbor), that he didn't see these red flags. How did Aurora meet her in the first place?
  5. the only possible reason i can come up for this story line is that the actor only wanted to do one season, so they had to write a plausible reason that he isn't there next season.
  6. Or the staff doesn't know yet about Mr. Forte's imminent death, and are just thinking that if Ada and Marion are no longer in residence, does Agnes need as many staff.
  7. Yeah Maud waiting outside for Oscar is a clear sign she’s in on the scam. She and the banker are skipping town now.
  8. Monica Aldama retires from Navarro Cheer
  9. And clearly being a member of a district family would not save him. It did not save Sejanus. and from such a crime as murder of the mayor's daughter. certainly Snow seemed to fair no harm or punishment by being late to places, being gone for an entire day without notice and such in D12. I presume Snow only meant by recording Sejanus and sending it to Gaul, that she would pull Sejanus out of D12 (or tell his parents to do so). But then the incident with Spruce, Mayfair and Tam changed everything and the mayor pulled his own weight, which was a lot closer to home, to have Sejanus executed immediately. And Sejanus was in some respects, the only "conscious" that Snow had that the system could change. Once Sejanus was gone, Snow felt secure that he could no longer be implicated, and Lucy Gray's abandoning him (because she could no longer trust him), he became the man we later knew.
  10. Yes, Bill, as long a companies make their political positions known, some people will make their decisions on whether to patronize those companies based on such positions. It may not be much, but its what consumers can do, "vote with their checkbook." I will say that at least one political party does not make it a point to actually purchase, then destroy a company's particular product, we just don't buy the product. Its not like we don't have a choice. I can choose to patronize other chicken sandwich places if i want to. I agree that it was very hard to understand Albert and Rob, and I didn't think either of the panelists contributed all that much.
  11. Start off with Sheryl Crow, accompanied by Olivia Rodrigo (this gen xer likes Olivia a lot). Sheryl looks and sounds great! Laura Dern does Crow’s induction intro. sounds like Laura lived with Sheryl for a time. Sheryl then sang with Stevie Nicks, and they definitely upped Sheryl’s mike, could barely hear Stevie (but maybe Stevie lost some of her voice). Next joined by Peter Frampton on the guitar (he still has it). Very nice speech Sheryl LL Cool J inducts DJ Kool Herc, the father of hip hop. New information to me, always good. Next, Jasmine Sullivan introduces Chaka Khan. I recognize some of her songs but most of the music and information was also new to me. She still sounds fantastic and dang did she say great grand mother? Performs with Common, Sia and H.E.R. Sia’s act is … interesting. Andrew Ridgeley, of course, inducts George Michael. “Over egg the pudding” is my new band name, lol. Tribute songs sung by Miguel, Adam Levine and Carrie Underwood. The Spinners. Lots of songs I remember. New Edition performs some of their songs. Don Cornelius, award for Soul Train. I remember watching the show as a young child. Link Wray inducted for a guitar lick. Okay. Sure its memorable, but this is getting a little too in the weeds, imo. Big boy inducts Kate Bush. Definitely a unique artist, who I think got lucky that her song got a lot of exposure in Stranger Things. Al Kooper up next. Recognize the music but never knew about him, Dave Matthews inducts Willie Nelson. Amazing how he is still doing so well. Elton John gets to induct Bernie Taupin. About time. Ice T inducts Rage Against the Machine. Great speech by Tom. Sorry we don’t get a performance , but not surprised that not everyone in the band appreciated the induction. Queen Latifa inducts Missy Elliott. Super performance and great way to end the show that celebrated a lot of black artists.
  12. Unfortunately, the people who have seized control of Israel and Gaza care more about their own power than the people. John provided a lot of good information about the history and current situation. i wish more people would listen and do something other than wring their hands.
  13. I'm not great at remembering past musical artists, past sketches by a particular host or characters that we see maybe once a season. seems to me like lazy writing to have to retread such things and anyone new, or who doesn't remember a particular sketch from a year or more ago, has no idea what the "joke" is. am i the only one who really doesn't care for PDD?
  14. The difference between “defund the police” and “anti-abortion” (besides the fact that it was never a party platform) is that democratic states did not remove all funding from the police or try to pass laws that did so, unlike many republican states and abortion. And yes it can be hung around trumps neck, it should. people aren’t stupid, you take away one right, it’s a slippery slope to taking away more. The gop should know that argument, they make it all the time against gun control. Everyone is talking about these polls. All it means is people aren’t thrilled about voting for Biden, but they will if he’s the final choice. please blaming Biden for these wars? sure. What a stretch. Bill is right that if you want to blame a president for pulling out of an agreement try trump with Iran. Considering how expensive phones are, how can any parent give one to a child? They break things. yeah this is why we have a teacher shortage. But god forbid the school disciplines kids, they get sued by parents who don’t parent, but are thrilled to get money. and yes don’t follow the rules in catholic or any other private school and you get kicked out. Plus, generally only richer families can afford private school. and before he starts singing the praises of homeschooling, maybe bill should watch John Oliver. Pamela Paul was good. Really didn’t need the rest.
  15. part of the current problem is that not only do the laws ban abortion, they impose significant prison time for both the woman, anyone helping her and the doctor. expanding the punishments is how they hope to restrict any ability to go around the law. and we all know, it really isn't about saving babies, its about controlling women and taking away their rights/autonomy
  16. i don't understand the change the show made to Nicky from the book. maybe the best actor for the part would never pull off being italian, so they made him irish? gotta admit, the greek scenery was beautiful.
  17. well, yeah, of course. they are actual muscians and singer/songwriters. The actors in this show are not, nor are the writers. that is always a problem with shows about fictional bands/singers, they usually cannot be adequately compared to the actual bands/singers they are trying to emulate. I get the comparisons with FM, because clearly the author was inspired by the true life story (and we don't know everything about FM either). but its the author's right to write a different story that also involved relationships between bandmembers, but in a different way. I'm not sure most rock stars are likeable people.
  18. I doubt we will get a Fleetwood Mac biopic until they are dead or way too old to care. I’d love a Heart one too. This show was decent and a reunion sequel could be good. Could the two be as good fully together. Break up songs are almost always better.
  19. they put in the "exception" to make the law more palatable, but in reality, its not enforced. there are stories about women being denied abortions because they were not "sick enough" or close enough to dying to justify the exception. as for rape, there are so many hoops one has to jump through to qualify, again, its words without actual meaning. the words are in there, but no one follows it and the politicians know it.
  20. i have no problems dumping the superfluous 6th band member from the book (who is virtually absent in the narrative and adds nothing to the story), i have to laugh that any band would include the girlfriend of a band member to such an extent that she is considered the "6th band member." frankly, the 6th member was a weakness of the book as well, she should have just found another band name. and yeah, the interview appearances are hard to reconcile with the flashback ones.
  21. I agree that schools are not teaching how Israel came to be, which would go a long ways toward educating young people why this war is happening and why Biden supports Israel.
  22. So far, we have seen 3 distinct sets of groups that all want to battle for the light against the dark, yet they are all directly opposed to each other. will these crazy groups eventually realize they have to work together (the enemy of my enemy is my friend) to defeat the dark, as I suspect is needed. Will Egwene's "training" under the Seanchan help the white tower realize that they need to modify their own training, create more Aes Sedai that can fight? i thought it interesting that the Seanchan knew more about the Aes Sedai training than vice versa. I still wonder how Naneave could "graduate" to be an Aes Sedai when she has such trouble channeling except in times of great stress. Yes, Liandrin needed her to graduate so she could get to Eqwene and remove both of them from the white tower, but do the Aes Sedai really just rely on the word of one sister that so and so is "ready" before throwing them to the arches? I liked how the five (plus one) had to work together at the end to defeat Ishmael. Someone mentioned Mat having eyes for Elayne, i thought it was Rand and i started to think about the whole love-triangle that created Lanfere. I'm sure that the five will all be tempted again to go to the dark side, because that's how plots work (the series wasn't 14 books for nothing). So what happened to the horn? I saw the one female hero sortof spirit it behind her, is it gone for good? i might have been nice to know a bit more about the heros of the past (other than Uno), i presume the books gave more details. the show does interest me in reading the books at some point, when i feel like starting a 14 book series (at least i know there's an ending, which gives it a plus - compared to others).
  23. I love John bringing to light these topics that one can go their entire life never having heard of it before. Yes, greed and corruption really are everywhere
  24. Bill complained about “liberal left woke” colleges but then gives examples of extreme right wing politicians that went to them. Yeah that computes.
  25. I agree that it does seem that fewer people are as prepared for Survivor as they used to be in the past, and yes people do seem to just hope they survive long enough to get to the rewards. i guess with a shorter season, the number of those days are shorter so maybe the lack of food doesn't last all that long. And yes, I'm sure production would absolutely intervene if someone was really in trouble, we have seen them provide water to severely dehydrated people. but i am not sure production would do much more than that, they won't give food i don't think. if a contestant's condition gets too bad, they will just have medical pull them.
