  1. Donna's ending is the reason why I absolutely hate RTD's writing. Seriously, nothing he ever wrote after Journey's End earned a single iota of respect from me.
  2. Hi everyone, Valerie here. I was tennyoaisu on the TWOP forums although I wasn't that chatty there. Nine is my Doctor since I started with him, but Eleven is my Doctor because he's my favourite. I am in the very small camp of people who disliked the Tenth Doctor, but this isn't the place to get into that, ha. I generally prefer Moffat's era because it's more entertaining to me, but I loved Series 4 because of Donna, and Series 1 was great because of the Nine/Rose dynamic. I'm still warming up to Clara as the newest companion but she's growing on me and I'm excited to see her interact with Capaldi.
  3. This is probably my favourite thing in the entire world: Stephen Colbert and Paul Dinello perform 'Devil Went Down To Georgia.'
  4. Love that we have a spot to hang out in! And I'm happy for a safe spot to discuss the show. I'm on Tumblr and there is so much TBBT hate there that it gets uncomfortable. On tumblr, if you enjoy anything other than the NBC trifecta (Parks, SNL, etc) you're pretty much considered not smart enough to enjoy the right type of comedy, a misogynist, into abusive relationships, etc etc etc. It's nice to just have a forum amongst other fans who enjoy the show for what it is -- clever entertainment.
  5. I always marvel at tv shows where they actually get to eat the food, but then again I'd be like wow how sick would you be after ten takes?
  6. I agree. With Sheldon, his progress is quickly shoved aside and forgotten in favour of more laughs. At least they acknowledged the kiss happened a few times after, so they clearly haven't forgotten it happened. With a show like TBBT I find they don't focus too much on continuity -- you can watch an episode without having seen any others and still enjoy it/not get lost, but at the same time I think they'd benefit from stringing the episodes closer together every once in a while. The only plotline I remember doing that was when Howard went into space.
  7. Howard is probably one of the characters who has changed the most since the show's inception. In fact, two of my favourite episodes are Howard-centric and involve them delving into his backstory -- the one where Penny insults him and he becomes depressed, and the episode where he finds the letter from his father and doesn't want to read it. I got pretty choked up by the end of that one, too.
  8. I almost want to believe that the remake was terrible and gimmicky to prove the point that most remakes are? Because that was an awful episode.
  9. I knew it was coming, but it was still pretty difficult to watch. Maggie had some incredible scenes in this episode, really. Her goodbye with Shawn, her goodbye with Lassiter (my heartttt) and that last scene of her driving away. On a shallow note, Tim Omundson rocked the 60s look. Hnnnnng. I think it was the glasses. Although seeing him dead on the table was pretty creepy. Apparently Steve Franks wanted to tweet that shot to everyone before the episode just to fuck with them.
  10. The musical was supposed to air before Deez Nups but due to scheduling it couldn't end up that way, which is why Shules is still together.
  11. If we're admitting to tears, I started when we realised that Shawn's video was for Gus, and I didn't stop until the end credits. The DVD scene especially made me emotion, as did Shawn proposing. Finally!
  12. A beautiful finale, through and through. Funny how they filmed the show right here in my hometown (Vancouver) but we didn't actually get the show available to watch on TV until last year, haha. I had to rely on DVDs and torrents. In any case, while most finales leave me with an ache in my heart, this one just left me feeling warm fuzzies. I'm happy that everyone ended up truly happy and fulfilled and looking back on how far they've gone since the pilot, I love these character so damn much.
  13. Wow, I haven't read the book in a while so I didn't remember that the purple wedding happened quite so quickly! Also I'm embarrassed to admit I only just realised why it was called the purple wedding a few weeks ago. Shhhh.
  14. Not going to lie, I only started watching CTM because of Miranda. I adore her sitcom (I'm unhealthily obsessed with it) and I am glad that she's getting some exposure here in North America as a result. Chummy is my favourite, probably a close tie with Trixie. I love how she's changed over three seasons, becoming more confident in her own skin and her abilities. She's a wonderful midwife and a great mother, and seeing her face light up when she has those victories makes my heart melt.
  15. So now that the finale has blown the possibility wide open, what are your thoughts on a possibly Jamy relationship? It's not so simple -- after all, she has a boyfriend. And I love that he acknowledged that and didn't even ask her for an answer. He was matter-of-fact about it and I was really impressed with Samberg's delivery in that scene. It was sweet but uncomfortable, because that's exactly what it's like when you point-blank tell your crush 'I like you.' I think Peralta is too childish for Amy, personally, but that's what makes them so sweet. Maybe six months undercover and away from her will help him grow up. Not too much, because he's Jake, but enough to realise what it means to make sacrifices because that's so important in a relationship.
  16. Hey everyone, I was tennyoaisu on TWOP for 13 years but I don't think I ever posted in the B99 thread, being a relatively new fan to the show.
  17. I felt like River's story concluded beautifully in The Name of the Doctor but I would not be opposed to seeing her again. She and Matt had such amazing chemistry that I really don't feel like it would be the same with Capaldi. Prove me wrong, Kingston!
