  1. Just starting to rewatch... “Darlene won’t commit to being serious”— I wonder if the finale will be a proposal?? (Also I do still think she and David are getting back together eventually) oh oh wait I think Ben meant serious like stop goofing around- but a proposal sounds like such a season finale type of thing, doesn’t it lol
  2. Wow I LOVED this ep!!! I need to rewatch but I had so many genuine laugh out loud moments- including the giant fish dumped on the table. I wasn’t expecting that lmao. Becky and Darlene!!!! Omg I love them so. I loved their talk. I’m SO INTRIGUED with the backstory- glad we got some more. Dan and Jackie’s storylines were excellent too. Jackie finally got fed up and Dan broke and strengthened my heart in one go. I even loved the bit with Harris. Darlene apparently has some very intelligent kids (at least school-wise). Makes sense.
  3. I really hope he does get therapy and it helps. David is such a good guy with so much potential. Again you see it in his episode. I’m not saying this is amazing for any real life person, but in past Roseanne eps there are jokes about Dan not knowing the kids teachers names. David never met Mark’s teacher but made it a point to know her name. The ep was littered with things like this that show he genuinely wants to be here for his kids. Even the “I need this job” comment was said helplessly, like he needs to make money but he wishes he could be with his kids. But he needs more help than him just trying to navigate yet falling victim to being pushed around by others.
  4. This reminds me of the David ep actually- He said it will be weird not being married to her, and she said something about the fact that he was living with another woman would have made it weird. It does seem like he thought separated meant separated and she thought separated was still married.
  5. Honestly I think after Roseanne got canned and talks resumed about continuing, someone must have pitched “Darlene”. But I’m guessing that Sara Gilbert herself said no, let’s make it about the entire family. But yes, Darlene is very much the lead. And it works, I just wish we had more episodes to focus on more characters.
  6. I think both Neil (like David) and Ben (opposite of David) are reactionary- It’s more that she wants a relationship and to move on than being interested in those particular guys. She even says it herself in this episode, thinking that’s what Becky is going to tell her.
  7. I think she genuinely doesn’t like red wine (lets be real, it’s like drinking Robitussin), but also she’s used to acting a certain way and getting away with it. You do see her concede a few times, which I give her props for, but I think it was just adding up where she thought ok, I gave in with the shows, I changed the subject with the wine, now he is bugging me about the salt too?? Meanwhile Ben is like why is she fighting me every step of the way. So I see both points of view and it’s a learning lesson for both of them. Relationships are oftentimes difficult and take work, especially with 2 bullheaded people. It’s nice that by the end they decided to work at it.
  8. I don’t think she ordered meat at the restaurant but she did joke about it (the tilapia?) bc it was making Becky queasy. It’s possible she is still a vegetarian but she isn’t vegan- she was eating pizza and ice cream in this episode. Which Sara Gilbert was snacking on during breaks in filming too, it was pretty cute.
  9. He’s definitely not a vegan, remember he wanted shrimp in a previous ep.
  10. Haha you are welcome, and I wish!!! 😂
  11. Not sure if I said this already but when they filmed the scene, Darlene said she likes to flavor the food while it’s cooking so it blends together versus just adding it to the top at the end. It’s funny how much more they film than is shown, it kinda makes me want them to release a directors cut dvd lol And omg one more thing that I totally forgot! When she was leaving after she put her shoes back on she rubs them all over his rug lol. I guess they didn’t use that bc it was too childish.

  13. I think it was more the overall tone all around- I mentioned the scene at the apartment was more aggressive first time around, and then with this line too- it just seemed like he was a jerk. I mean she definitely has her moments too (and when she was a teenager she was downright abusive at times). So when he said this after they made up, it sounded like he was disrespecting her. Just seeing this big man in person being a jerk to this tiny woman didn’t feel like we should be rooting for them to make it. I hope that makes some sense. But also I know this is a sitcom with cutting humor and that’s one reason I love this show.
  14. Yeah I don’t know. I want more detail than this show is giving us lol. If she really only ever did sleep with David until now, that really says a lot about her characterization, and possibly Sara Gilbert’a headcanon-becoming-canon about her.
  15. Same!!! She’s definitely on the top of my “If I was into girls” list. I don’t know, I always thought she was cute, fit, pretty green eyes, but mostly it’s her aura? As far as personality, she is smart, witty, and just.... Darlene! I don’t know why but I just love her, always have, always will lol
  16. Yeah it doesn’t bother me either- it’s like he stuck out his tongue but with the sausage. It makes me laugh. So with the Jimmy eps she basically said she MIGHT in the future sleep with him. Then later she mentions sleeping with him but by that point they had already broken up so she was lying. She was trying to save face bc David had a string of pretty girls at that point. One more thing about this taping- Juliette Lewis had SO MUCH trouble getting her lines out. She didn’t seem to have them memorized and the funniest thing is she couldn’t say “anesthesiologist” lol. You can see her smile when she finally gets the word out in the ep! And there was another funny bit that was cut when Darlene was ordering her coffee- she wanted it to be a specific distance from the top of the cup but was trying to act like she was chill about it but she wasn’t chill at all lol. So then when Blue shows up and she’s like “just bring me whatever”, it’s even funnier.
  17. Ok I just watched and ouch, it hurts when so many moments were cut! They had a really funny bit of Becky basically doing her grocery shopping at the house (DJ later commenting that he can’t find the mini doughnuts he bought for the kids lunches), a hilarious bit where she walks in with that huge playpen/death trap, and this might be a cut folks appreciate, Geena actually DID mention God at one point too. Also in one of the takes when Mary complained about getting crayons to Jackie, Jackie said “oh that will be perfect with the loose leaf paper I am getting you.” Lol Also a line that I had mentioned earlier that kinda soured me on Ben was also not included- at the end in the office, Darlene asked him why he is such a germaphobe at home, yet he had sex on the office desk, and he replies “well I wasn’t the one touching the desk.” Which is funny but also kinda yikes.
  18. I do think this is the case... demisexual is it?
  19. Yeah I rewatched these episodes and she did say she did but then later you can tell she had been lying. Well she didn’t necessary need to be lying but she definitely lied about certain things and was insecure, so once I knew that David had been the only one she ever slept with, it didn’t feel off that she lied about that too.
  20. Thats what I thought too! But I guess they just talked and maybe petted? Haha. And all those years at college and all those years separated.... color me surprised but I do like that narrative choice.
  21. So I haven’t watched this episode air yet bc I only have Hulu so I will have to watch tomorrow, BUT this is the episode that I saw taped. I am super curious about what was left in and what was cut and how it was all edited together. I can say this- my reaction to Ben and Darlene was more “wtf?!?” than “omg yes!!!” My perspective is probably a bit skewed but I was taken aback bc I had no idea who this new guy was or what Darlene’s new job was (since I saw this before the previous couple of episodes had aired), so I was trying to piece everything together- but my immediate reaction was that Darlene isn’t actually as much into this guy as she seems to WANT to be, but is rushing into him because he is the opposite of David. So then the other week when she dumps Neil bc he is TOO much like David made me go “mmhmm, I see what’s going on here.” At the very least, they are playing with her relationship dynamics and getting her to try out new things, to see how it feels to be bossed around (not so good but maybe sometimes ok to let go and not always have things her way). I don’t know if this was included in the episode but did Blue say she is tired of David never making up his mind? And then she said that he needs therapy (god yes please get that poor guy some therapy), and Darlene says she doesn’t want him to change too much? I am seeing both David and Darlene (if David actually gets quality therapy) possibly growing and seeing things from the other side. Also did they include the line that Ben is only the second guy Darlene has had sex with? That surprised me! Ok enough of my shipper-colored glasses (for now). Just 2 interesting things from filming. The first time Sara Gilbert went to jump up on Ben, her pants didn’t follow- luckily she grabbed them about 3/4 down lol. Second thing, and this was inadvertent I’m assuming since everyone converged and they reshot the scene much less aggressively, the first time they did the scene at the apartment, it seemed like Ben was going to possibly go down the Fisher route. But I think that was just due to the actors size difference, and like I said the second time they did it it was much less aggressive. But I was thinking “oh no, not my Darlene!!!” 😭 So then at the end when he makes the comment that she was touching the desk and not him, I was like ugh, what a jerk. So I was surprised to come on here and see folks siding with Ben more than Darlene. But perhaps when I see the aired episode I will feel differently. I just feel so protective of her!
  22. Thats how I feel lol, I’m just like lalalalala, where’s David lol
  23. I am fine either way- but it’s hard to wrap my head around either character. Like Andy would be the most important person in Jackie’s life. Jerry would have a close relationship with his parents especially bc the other siblings were pretty much grown up when he was born. It’s just hard to visualize right now.
  24. OMG I LOVE your real life story!!! 💗 And yes, this is exactly what I think they are doing. I hope I’m not wrong. But with Sara Gilbert’s comment last season of her and Johnny’s “indescribable chemistry” and crying in the car when she thinks about David and Darlene.... I feel like she is as much as a shipper as I am, haha. I too cry in the car when I think about them Sara! 😂
  25. This is why I don’t buy “I think I found my soulmate” from him. I think David and Darlene are trying to move on but I think they still love each other. Their problem is she needs to stop bullying him and he needs to stop cowering. If you watch “Tangled Up in Blue” closely you can see that David and Darlene are actually in sync for the entire episode (both concerned about Mark, David says he had the same reaction as Darlene when he found out about Harris), and Blue is the odd person out. I think David is trying to move on because he knows he blew it with Darlene and Darlene is trying to move on to make David happy. They love each other they just need to be able to approach their relationship as two mature adults and not as messed up teenagers. If this was real life I would say they are absolutely over, there are plenty of fish in the sea, etc. But since it’s a fictional show, I think they will go for the “surprising” conclusion. Again, this is just my perspective from my crazy shipper glasses, I could be reading it very wrong. I just think the David ep was scripted very carefully.
