  1. Hello, everybody, I just found this forum... Gotta say, I'm not missing a host for this ceremony.
  2. One things for sure, if Show ever decided to do a story where Drew gets full custody of Scout and then gets together with Liz, the Liz/Sam fanwars would go OFF THE CHARTS.
  3. Say what you will about RC, he could at least move plots along.
  4. I remember reading in Carolyn Hinsey's book where a fellow castmember on GL described LW as a "smart cookie" who figured out before anybody else the show was doomed and left for GH. Ever since then, I've seen her as the "tell". If she suddenly starts making noises about leaving GH for greener pastures, then we'll know for sure the cancellation is coming down the pike.
  5. And doing an excellent job on it, further proving that the GH folks were idiots to let this guy go.
  6. It has to be something structural in how GH is produced/filmed or something in how actors minimums work. We've had multiple writing regimes and still the same problem.
  7. Jordan just got married, right? Maybe she conceived a honeymoon baby.
  8. I'm always torn on stuff like this. On the one hand, MB IRL seems a very decent fellow, and I will always admire him for his openness about his struggles with being bipolar. Anything that helps to reduce the stigma of mental illness is a good thing. On the other hand, the character that MB plays is a loathsome POS that has been dragging GH down for decades now and should have been killed off years ago. It's a bit of a conundrum.
  9. That would be a true game-changer, a classically soapy development that would realign the entire canvas and create endless possibilities for compelling drama. Therefore, the writers will never do it. BM going back to Y&R and reclaiming his rightful role would be an awesome development. But there is no place for Patrick Drake on the canvas anymore and JT is too untalented to make any scene work unless he has KMc in it to carry his sorry ass.
  10. From the spoilers: Oh, goody, another woman Griffin can fuck and then judge.
  11. For a guy who is supposed to be the key character the rising generation of the show is built around, Michael is awfully disposable.
  12. My Bests (grading on a curve here) and Worsts of 2018: BEST ACTOR Max Gail/Jon Lindstrom (tie) Max Gail was only brought on the show to be in a storyline expressly designed to win an Emmy for Maurice Bernard, but he totally stole the show with his heartbreaking portrayal of a man slowly succumbing to the ravages of Alzheimers. Meanwhile, Jon Lindstrom showed exactly why vets should be cherished as he rocked the house as gleefully psychotic Ryan. BEST ACTRESS Maura West Over and over again, Maura West spins gold out of the dross the writers constantly dish out to her (and other characters as well). But when the writers finally deliver something good - the scene where Ava is confronted by the body of her dead, murdered daughter - she is heartbreakingly, devastatingly great. WORST ACTOR Steve Burton C'mon dude, you can at least try... WORST ACTRESS Kelly Monaco This is the performance of a woman who has just given up. BEST CHARACTER Liz 2018 was the year the character of Liz finally came in to her own, as the loving mother raising three appealing children, dealing with their isuues while also balancing the demands of her career and her romance with Franco. (Hey, I'm not claiming she was perfect or anything). On a properly written soap, she would be the shows central heroine. Instead she's a side character, and we are all forced to sit through the show expecting us to root for uber-shrew Carly. WORST CHARACTER Jim Harvey GH tried to make Jim Harvey the Swiss Army Knife of soap villains in his short time on the show - not only was he spearheading in a dastardly fracking scheme that caused a (supposed-to-be-but-not-really)) devastating earthquake to rock Port Charles, but he also turned out have molested Franco when Franco was a child. But his role never came together in any meaningful way, he had no character beats beyond "I'm evil", and he was a total waste of the talents of Greg Evigan. Just a dud all around. BEST STORY Nelle gaslights Carly, then gives Michael's son to Brad Nelle finally became the schemer that the show kept insisting she was supposed to be in this storyline. The highlight was when she flung herself down the stairs than claimed that Carly had pushed her - a callback to when Carly had tripped and fallen down the same set of stairs then claimed that A.J. pushed her all those years ago. Even after she was discovered and her scheme revealed she had one last trick up her sleeve - she gave her newborn baby to Brad to replace the recently deceased Wiley, then passed off the dead baby as the one she had conceived with Michael. On a show that keeps flubbing one story opportunity after another, this one stood out as a storyline that actually hit all the beats it was supposed to, and had forward momentum, a decent plot arc, and continuing fallout. WORST STORY Jim Harvey fracked Port Charles, molested Franco, and (worst of all) kicks off the Croton mess Speaking of a storyline that hit all the beats it was supposed to, and had forward momentum, a decent plot arc, and continuing fallout, this had none of the above. It was just a bunch of disconnected scenes that added up to less than nothing in the end. BEST COUPLE Anna/Finn They were fun, flirty, and cute on a show that desperately needed some lightness to balance out the grimdark crapfest everywhere else. WORST COUPLE JaSam Whatever chemistry or appeal this coupling has had, it is long since gone. Besides the fact that the two actors involved look actively repulsed by each other, the pairing also had to decimate every smidgen of character growth Sam had shown to happen. It's just not working on any level any more. Put them out of our misery and break them up already! WORST POTENTIAL COUPLE Sonny/Margeaux "Hey other writer guys, this Croton storyline is nearly misogynistic enough. I mean, we haven't hideously degraded one female character in the course of it yet! So, I've got a great idea - let's have Margeaux get fucked by the very man that murdered her father and also have her throw away every moral, scruple, or even what basic decency she may have possessed to have it happen!" "Wow, that idea is vile, disgusting, and shameful... IT'S PERFECT!!! MarSon, here we come!" MOST WASTED ACTORS James Patrick Stuart/William de Vry Both these actors are talented and both of them try hard, but the show seems to actively hate their presence and constantly gives them shit to do. Stuart is stuck in the Wash-Rinse-Repeat cycle of his relationship with Nina, while DeVry's genuinely compelling story - that of a bad man trying to put his past behind him and become a better person - is barely even touched upon. Both these actors are way more gifted than the shows' supposed "leads", so naturally, they are ignored and their opportunities to contribute to the canvas bungled at every turn. MOST WASTED ACTRESS Tamara Braun/Elizabeth Hendrickson (tie) These are mutliple Emmy-nominated (Braun actually won one) actresses, folks. Bear that in mind as you watch the show contemptuously stick them in unactable dross. MOST WASTED CHARACTER Drew A man with no memories of his mysterious past, who has been given someone else's memories and must cope with emotions he knows are not really his. This should be a major story, as Drew tries to find out who he really is, as things pop up out of a past he can't remember, as mysterious shards of memory pop up that lead to more questions ... Instead, it's a side note to a character the showrunners clearly can't figure out or don't care what to do with. On a show full of wasted talent and wasted potential, this stands out as the biggest waste.
  13. And yet, Kim/Julian had real chemistry and charm. So naturally the writers trash the pairing that was working in favor of the one that doesn't. Which clearly came through, since now she is cursed to be stuck with Jason again!
  14. Whereas I kept wondering why they were wasting all those good female characters on that sucky-ass male character. I still wonder that. One of the main reasons I don't want the truth about Wiley to ever come out. I don't want Sonny and Carly stealing yet another Quartermaine. I would love for this to happen. Michael shouldn't have any children as long as Sonny and Carly are around to steal them. Yes, but then which female character gets saddled with Jason next? There's not a single female character I hate enough to get saddled with that dud, not even Carly. Had the writers of this possessed even an ounce of sanity or sense, the show would be focused on Liz as the lead heroine and her boys would be firmly placed as the future of the show. Instead we're stuck with the loathsome Corinthi and their hangers on hogging the spotlight. 15. Kelly Thiebaud in that picture reminds me a great deal of Nancy Kerrigan.
  16. GH can say bye-bye to Billy Miller. Y&R will now move heaven and Earth to get him back. (Right after they unceremoniously usher out the hated JT).
  17. Y&R would leap at the chance to get BM back as Billy, to try and reverse the plunging ratings that the hated Thompson is in part responsible for. Thing is, BM and JT are friends, and friends don't bounce friends onto the unemployment line.
  18. GH had it's own Dr. Romano in Katherine Bell, the recipient of the infamous Kat Splat and Kat Splat 2: Electric Boogaloo. The writing on this one was so lazy that not only did she get pushed off a parapet twice (the second time was fatal), she got pushed off THE SAME PARAPET by THE SAME PERSON! I nominate Sam. If all she is going to be is Jason's doormat, kill her off and least create some short term drama over Jason and Drew either a.) at loggerheads, b.) coming together, or c.) a. followed by b. I'd nominate Jason, except as we all know he's fucking indestructible. Oooooh, goody! Then we can place bets on the over/under of how long it will take for Sonny and Carly to rip that child away from her and add to their collection! Oscar is a teenager. Those kinds of life lessons tend to fly right over their heads. Eh, having loved ones/relatives/SOs/etc. deeply involved in criminal investigations/trials/operations/the like that IRL they wouldn't be allowed anywhere near is a well-established soap opera trope. I'm inclined to let it slide.
  19. It's a sad commentary on how far GH has fallen that the only character in this photo still alive is the lady on the right.
  20. From the spoilers: They steal yet another person's child to add to their collection.
  21. One of Guza's tropes was scripting breakup scenes of such brutality and emotional violence (generally by the male half of the couple toward the female) that you never wanted the female character to come anywhere near the asshole who broke up with her so viciously ever again, or at the very least the male half of the couple should have had to do some serious grovelling, apologizing, and working hard to earn forgiveness before she even begins to consider a reunion. Yet the woman always came running back whenever the man who had emotionally/verbally abused her so badly so much as crooked his finger. Guza did this again and again, and it never seemed to penetrate his thick skull that this was why the enthusiasm for so many couples just died amongst the fans.
  22. I had originally thought that JT was deliberately tanking scenes with TCa because he didn't like the story - it seemed to be the only logical explanation for why this guy who was supposed to be the fabulously great actor was so terrible. But after watching him stink up the joint on Y&R, I have come to the conclusion that real explanation was right in front of everybody's noses the entire time - he's just a shitty actor who can't carry off any material whatsoever without KMc to carry his sorry ass. (Chad Duell has the same problem, except he was never lucky enough to get a KMc to make him look good).
  23. What really gets me about this shitstory is that before, the writers at least attempted to conjure up some slim justification for Sonny's kills, no matter how dumb or horrid they may have been. ("He thought A.J. had killed his girlfriend", "He was getting revenge for the death of his unborn child", "They came after him"). But in this story, we have Sonny gunning down a complete stranger over a beef he has nothing to do with - and they are STILL INSISTING on presenting it as a righteous, noble act! The idiocy on display here is just mindblowing.
