Funny, Shriner's Hospital says the same thing. Maybe you can go to the hospital after eating at Chuck E. Cheese. -
Retro TV Channels: ”The Good Old Days of Television”
Tom Holmberg replied to Actionmage's topic in Network Talk
We have MeTV, MeToo and H&I, but none of the others, Antenna, Cozi, Decades, Buzzr, etc. Comcast, my former provider, carried all of them. AT&T notoriously refuses to carry the rest despite numerous requests. Not sure what they are thinking. -
But you can have all the ice cream you can eat!

It's supposed to be heart-warming. For heart-warming, I prefer an Italian beef with plenty of giardiniera. -
Joe and Mika were off, recovering from their extremely grueling Miami stint!

Retro TV Channels: ”The Good Old Days of Television”

Another channel my cable provider (AT&T) doesn't provide. FETV has dropped "Route 66" starting July 1 and replaced it with extra showings of "Perry Mason". It was only on for one month and they got through 60 episodes (2 a day), leaving the last 2 episodes of Season 2 unaired. If they'd shown it another month they could have gotten through all three seasons. :( -

Some towns and cities have "safe areas" set up for this, often at police stations and the like. -

I was aware of Ovation and its "The Artful Detective", but my cable package doesn't include it. MeToo runs it but they keep moving it around the schedule without warning, making it hard to keep up with where it is. A lot of "Corner Gas" is on YouTube. For those who watch it, there were ads for the animated "Corner Gas" series on Canadian TV. -
Tomorrow afternoon, June 29, TCM will be showing "Point Blank", the 1967 Lee Marvin adaptation of a Donald E. Westlake "Parker" novel ("The Hunter"). This has been remade a couple of more times, but this version is the best. Worth catching if you haven't seen it, or even if you have.

But if everyone has Medicare for all (MFA) there will be a great deal of pressure to make the plans as good or better than private. If only "poor" people are in it, the plans will be bad. The trick will be phasing MFA in over time, not trying to do everything for everyone at once. Private insurers probably could still offer "Cadillac" plans.

It's fun to watch these series they run on Sat. mornings. I hadn't watch any of the Dr. Kildare movies before and really enjoyed them.

I was on vacation in Canada and got to catch some "Murdoch Mysteries", which are hard to find in the US (apparently Canadian FX shows reruns) and "Corner Gas", which some US cable channel should pick up. -

R.I.P. Max Wright the father on "ALF." Of the non-puppet regular characters on the show, he was the only one who I thought held up his end (and Anne Meara, to be fair). https://variety.com/2019/tv/news/max-wright-dead-dies-alf-1203254258/ -
This Ends Badly? I think that's already being used.

There was a bank Washington Mutual which had branches on every corner. They did sort of the same thing, they didn't have windows or counters. The bankers stood at kiosks. My boss wanted the Ref. Librarians to emulate this and get rid of the desk. Then the Great Recession came and WaMu disappeared, bought out by a real bank. If I go to a bank I want to give my money to somebody behind a window or counter, with a big honking safe behind them, not some random person standing around. I won't even use the drive-up. -
I think he knows if he publicly testifies that the GOP and their media attack dogs will hound him for the rest of his life. (I think that's why Comey released that statement about Hillary but didn't mention the investigation into Trump. He figured Clinton would win anyway, but he'd have to put up with years of biased Congressional hearings.) Fundamentally it's cowardice.

One of yesterday's "Route 66" episodes featured a dark-haired Robert Redford as a young Polish-American student accused of killing his girlfriend. Redford lost the Tod Stiles role in the show to Martin Milner. (We could have had Paul Newman and Martin Milner in "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.") -
Strudel-Boy and Cawowine: Irritating Kids in Commercials
Tom Holmberg replied to OriginalCyn's topic in Commercials
Don't blame the kids, blame the adults who made the ad. It was discussed earlier that Kars 4 Kids benefits some fundamentalist Jewish organization that's kind of sketchy (starting with the ad). But I hate having to hear that song over and over. -
But he didn't name a post office after a deceased intern.

I was in Rome when Joe visited the Pope. They were up on the balcony of the Vatican together and an elderly Italian gentleman asked me, "Who's that up there with Joe?"
