  1. Growing up we lived in a great trick or treat area. Then the the 1970s the town outlawed trick or treating due to the (largely made up) killer Halloween candy scare. Later I lived in a fairly large apartment building and kids would only come in if it was snowing, raining or freezing cold. They knew single-family houses were more productive for candy.
  2. It's the OCD ad with Howie Mandel. I don't know that much about this issue, but saying general therapy is harmful seems counterproductive.
  3. R.I.P., Lara Parker (Angelique, from "Dark Shadows" After two centuries, Angelique is gone. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/lara-parker-dead-dark-shadows-angelique-1235619789/
  4. R.I.P., Mark Goddard. (Maj. Don West) https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/mark-goddard-dead-lost-in-space-actor-1235617996/
  5. Skilling is one of the top Chicago TV weathermen, but IMO Harry Volkman is the GOAT. Also high up are P.J. Hoff (for us oldsters), Jim Tilmon, and John Coleman (who help pioneer the "happy talk" news in Chicago and founded the Weather Channel).
  6. They've been doing it for a while, so I don't think there's more egging or window soaping than usual.
  7. One local community here distributes red and green signs you can put on your door indicating if you want trick or treaters or not.
  8. As a kid I didn't mind pennies, but today you can't get much for a few pennies (we could get a comic book for 10 pennies).
  9. When this came out I was a teenager obsessed with everything spy related. It wasn't Bond, much more realistic. Plus it had Michael Caine starring.
  10. For some reason, for the last month and a half or so H&I has been running almost exclusively Bart episodes in "Maverick" run. I wonder if they are saving the Bret for some reason? I didn't notice that they've run The Dick van Dyke Show "The Ghost of A. Chantz" episode.

  12. Tomorrow 10/10 features a great triple feature: Leopard Man, Cape Fear, and Night of the Hunter
  13. I watched Khartoum, which I had seen in more than 30 years. People complain about Sean Connery in The Wind and the Lion, but Laurence Olivier didn't come off any better in this movie. It was probably more embarrassing than Connery's portrayal
  14. I got a large Frosty recently and was surprised that it was significantly downsized.
  15. That didn't bother me. WWW was supposed to be set in the real world, so the story would have been outside the world of the show. I hate it when supernatural shows do this, though. I think it was the network who were the snowflakes. Kids of that era, like me, were obsessed with monsters, they watched monster movies on TV, collected monster trading cards, read monster magazines, made monster models, etc.
  16. And ASPCA isn't a no-kill shelter, so some of those animals are going to their deaths.
  17. For those interested, Russ Tamblyn has his autobiography due out next year.
  18. The Irish Egg Pot ad makes me want to rip my ears off, and usually I find Irish accents appealing.
  19. I was wondering why they were rerunning an episode that already ran.
  20. What's with Gen. Schwarzkopf having a hair dye company? Go Stormin' Norman Blonde! 😈
  21. Apparently they spend $1,319,195 on advertising and $118,235,759 on patient care. Total revenue: $1,385,684,376 Actually that doesn't look too bad. https://www.stjude.org/content/dam/en_US/shared/www/about-st-jude/financial-information/st-jude-financials-990-irs-form-2022.pdf
  22. Yes, I like they got Montezuma's revenge worked in.
  23. My favorite clip is "Life During Wartime", available on Youtube if anyone hasn't seen it.
