  1. I agree. Lorelai has done several things for various people (even trying with her parents), but the balance sheet skews towards most people doing stuff for her.
  2. I feel like Michel and Kirk were done rather well. I also feel the same about Mrs Kim, Patty, and Babette. But they are pretty much comic relief (you can argue Mrs Kim was not, but she always cracked me up bc I'm of asian descent). I think the problem with Sookie was trying to make her a serious character and comic relief. Lots of times you make friends at work bc of all the time you spend together and for all they don't have in common, Sookie was very kind-hearted (especially to Rory). I can see younger Lorelai hooking up with her bc she would be supportive and helpful. Most of her friends were people who helped her rather than the other way around.
  3. Possibly. We have not finished the series. I was just impressed that a 6 year old came up with the parallels spontaneously. He saw a bit of Leela in Bean.
  4. 6 And I respect trolling the spouse. I'm totally the family troll. I get it from my dad. Dad jokes, April Fools, etc.
  5. My son was drawing parallels between Futurama and Disenchanted characters. Luci = Bender Elfo = Fry Etc
  6. I think it's because if I were asleep all cuddly warm and someone dragged me out of bed so they could go on some narcissistic rant anthropomorphizing the weather, I'd want to shoot them. I'm a pretty laid back (except at work) and positive person, but I need my sleep.
  7. Agreed. Comparison makes six shine. In fact, I dropped out of season five pretty close to the beginning and then just watched the last episode before season 6 started. It was just so boring and tedious. Everyone who said bad stuff about Badison echoes my thoughts. That is the kind of character I loathe - the rando psycho. It's lazy and irritating.
  8. 14, 14 Also, 14. The rest are great!
  9. Felony Murder: A rule that allows a killing that occurs in the course of a dangerous felony, even an accidental death, to be charged against the felon as first-degree murder. I don't know about the actress (I'm sure all the folks in the show look better when they aren't dressed up and coiffed like jailbirds), but the character in this case always skeeved me out. Kinda dumb, too naive, not particularly good-looking as to incite so much lust, etc.
  10. I'm going to go as far as to say I've always found her kind of gross. So, yeah...I don't get it, either.
  11. So weird. I've always seen her as one of the more annoying and least interesting of the characters.
  12. I always thought of it less as her growing (although she had to grow to accept the non-Korean boys) and more of it as no one gave her enough credit for having had experiences of her own (her own band, her own tour, getting the "knockers" joke, knowing the E string is flat, etc).
  13. Yes. Remember in the episode where Lorelai says she can't come up with her share of the money for the inn? I agree. If Sookie just wanted kitchen time (and not the effort/responsibility and adventure of starting a new business), why not just become executive chef somewhere?
  14. Yah, but 1. When you don't know enough to take initiative (or shoulder some of the burden of mental management - a job in its own right), then you should be volunteering to be in the trenches doing the stuff you can, even if it means being directed by the more knowledgeable person. Not just check out and make excuses. 2. At the time Lorelai was upset about the sink, they were rebuilding/fixing up the inn. I don't know about some inn-specific items that may have needed to be addressed in the build, but surely there were basic general contracting issues Sookie could have handled. Or, you know, just show up, because if you own part of a business, you should learn the ins snd outs. Npi.
  15. I think it always rubs me the wrong way when someone effs up and instead of apologizing and trying to do better, they get defensive and lash back out.
  16. I think the Russian theme was just an old, reused thing the writers had. This party will be Russian. This DAR thing will be Russian. This wedding will be Russian. *snore*
  17. Lol. Touche. Although by definition tightening a valve is shutting it off. I think I'm touchy about this bc I hate the stereotype (or perpetuation of the stereotype) of the mechanically inept female. Look pretty and read a book!
