  1. I thought this was a great episode, too. Everybody showed up, and they all got some good stuff to say and do. Loved Linder and Eva. It makes me totally antsy thinking about anything bad happening to either of them. As much as I'm always on board with revenge, I hope Linder will listen to what Eva wants, and will go for a possibly happy future instead. I, too, wondered why Sonya wasn't a bit more forthcoming with her mother - why she didn't say she wanted mom to leave for safety reasons, and why she didn't take her to get cleaned up and make sure she left town. Then I realized that first, she's probably tried in the past to get her mother to change, and probably got some nifty cussing and cat-scratches for her trouble. And second, because Sonya inadvertently led Eleanor to mom already, and someone could still be watching and following Sonya and would see her sending her mother away, thereby making the whole thing futile. So she did the thing that was as low-key as she could manage. Fausto's henchman's affront at the hostage rejecting his cooking and failing to appreciate how hard he works was hilarious. Their indie movie attempt was a hoot, too. When Fausto approached the festivities and the music stopped and everybody stared, it reminded me so much of the old spaghetti westerns. How is it that Marco was able to get some Marine backup, but Sebastian was denied any Marine help to free his daughter? Since both involved confrontation with Fausto, I'm not sure why TPTB would go for one but not the other. Did they think Marco had a better chance of succeeding? I missed something there. Daniel was funny as hell breaking the lock on the garage door. What I wonder about is with all the information he and Adriana are trying to put together, who do they intend to take it all to? His former boss didn't want to publish the stuff they had before. Who will break this story if they live to write it? The stuff from the garage is obviously stolen, and I forget how much of their other stuff is stolen or unsubstantiated. Hank is alive, sort of. Yay!
  2. I was hoping for AcroArmy but like Mick Jagger said, you can't always get what you want. heh Mat's tricks earlier in the season were very good, but I didn't like the later stuff as well. Regardless, they all get to go do more performances for more big audiences, and I wish them well with future opportunities.
  3. After the firefight and chase scene with the Chinese, when the Sons had their latest dead body collection all lined up, and Jax turned the suitcase over to Jury, Jax and Chibs walked over to the two helper guys. Jax told them he was going to bring them some nice money and, by the way, what was their address? I turned to dh and said, "Jax is going to kill them. They're outsiders and loose ends." How come those two guys couldn't figure that out? Jury recruited them, and Jury would be the one to settle up with them. They had to know that. Why in the world would Jax make a special trip to their place to give them money. Well, he wouldn't. Now, if I'm remembering this right, after the Sons killed the two helpers and set up the scene to make them look like they had whacked the Chinese, Bobby called Lin and told him the Sons had found out who did the deed, and that the intel was good solid intel, and gave the location where the perps could be found. Obviously we assume Lin & company will be going right over there We see Jury going in and finding the two dead guys and getting all broken up, then picking up the gun and giving it a close look, and getting even more broken up. At that same time, there is a knock at the door. I didn't imagine this, right? There's a knock at the door and Jury looks toward the door. I think this is Lin and his guys. If it's Lin, Jury is going to die, unless he can talk faster than a speeding bullet and tell the Chinese that this is a setup, that Jax set this up. Jury is wearing his cut, isn't he? Even if he isn't, I'm sure Lin knows who he is anyway. I can imagine how this would play out if Jury dies. Lin confronts Jax about who they found at the house. Jax won't have to fake shock, he will be shocked about Jury. Jax will be able to say he's been betrayed by Jury and his chapter, that he had no idea, no idea at all, and that will be why Lin will buy the scenario of who took out his guys. Because the show must go on, my friends.
  4. My comments are based only on the new performances because I missed the first half of the show. I thought all the acts did their best. Even Miguel gave his best performance to date. AcroArmy was fun and exciting, and dh and I said "wow" again. Really can't guess who will win. My head says Emily and Quintavious have the biggest talent, but my heart goes to AcroArmy.
  5. Oh panthergirl13 thank you for talking about the SALT BRAND SALT. After the show ended I dropped a fifteen minute tirade on my dh about that salt and how ri-dick-ulous it was. It looked ancient and dirty (well, Tara was a doctor and you're not supposed to use added salt on anything, so it was never used, right?) and the style of that (lousy, fake) label would be from the 1940's, or 1930's even. Why did this stupid thing cause me to have a fit? I don't know, but it must be a metaphor, some kind of metaphor for this whole show, but I haven't been able to dig the meaning out of my psyche yet. Maybe it's the moment where all the sticky drama builds and builds to the point where you tumble over into laughter, and you laugh and you laugh, and you laugh forevermore.
  6. Sheesh, now all Hank needs is for the ambulance they'll put him in to have an accident on the way to the hospital. When Eleanor is told to get down on the ground she sure takes it seriously, doesn't she? Whump! I loved the way Sonya just plowed into that car. She was going to get Hank back dead or alive, even if she was the one who actually killed him. heh Poor Jaime. He just stops to have a little lunch and the world ends. Cesar enters the Desert Marathon. Daniel: "She looks like a boss to me." What a great episode.
  7. After this awful season I'm just relieved that five of the final acts are reasonable choices. I'm okay with Emily, Quintavious, AcroArmy, Sons of Serendip and Mat. If Miguel wins, I will send an invitation to Godzilla to come and eat Radio City Music Hall. And snack on Howie, too, while you're at it, Godzilla.
  8. What I don't get is why Gemma had to make up any story at all about Tara's death. Apparently no one suspected Gemma of having any part in it, so why is she in such a mad rush to find someone to hang it on. In the real world, when you tell an iffy story about some suspect you saw, and that story places you near the scene of the crime, you usually become a suspect yourself. Ask Michael Skakel about that one. Remember after Tig killed Donna and the club selected some random gang guy and told Opie this gang guy was the one who killed Donna, so they could give Opie somebody to work out his rage on? And they were also hoping to shed some of their own guilt? Is that what Gemma was trying to do with Jax? She must be way, way off the rails to ever think this was a good idea.
  9. I know I'm shirking my duty as a poster, but I can't muster the strength to do individual comments on these acts today, so I'll do three groups: Liked: AcroArmy, Sons of Serendip, Emil & Dariel, Emily West, Quintavious, Mat Franco Gray Area: Mike Super, Christian (unfortunately) No: Mara, Miguel, David & Leeman, Blue Journey Is it true that there are no Snapple Saves or judges' picks this time? It better be true.
  10. When Eleanor said she wanted to read the next vampire book, and Cesar said his wife was reading it, I held my breath waiting for Eleanor's reply. Then when she calmly and primly said that then she would wait, I thought it was just too funny, and I also thought, why doesn't she just buy a copy for herself? There is something so absolutely crazy and endearing, of all things, about them sharing these books. Well, I said last week that McKenzie was too happy and smug to live. Regarding Cesar helping to kill Chip, I think Cesar has killed, or helped to kill, more than a couple of people in the past. He did preside over that tunnel for quite a while, and I think he's a man who doesn't enjoy what he has to do, but he definitely does it. Wow, sure hope Hank can survive.
  11. I'm just glad that several egregious long-term offenders are gone. Most any of the remaining acts would have been okay for me. I am happy that AcroArmy made it because I thought they gave the best performance of all.
  12. Shermie: Thank you for the correction about Wendy, and the complete lowdown (and I mean low) about her. Now I despise her even more than before. hee hee peggy06: Totally agree with everything you said about Wendy and the judges.
  13. Jonah: For me, this was his best performance so far. Baila Conmigo: The actual footwork in this routine was even less complicated than their previous performances, and they have never done any intricate footwork in this whole competition. They shuffle their feet back and forth, back and forth at a fast pace, and this is the only move they do for the greater percentage of time they are up there. Jaycob: He's a sweet kid and he likes to do quiet, heartfelt arrangements. I said before that I think he must have a big following among tweens and early teens, and I think they will vote him through again. Mat Franco: Liked his previous tricks but not this one. This was a lot of fuss and bother and running around over what is really an old trick. Messy and not outstanding. AcroArmy: This was good, entertaining, and the throws at the end were thrilling, actually. One of the few performances this season that made dh and I say "wow". Kelli Glover: Visually she was lost among the stage props. Vocally she was just plain lost. Horrible song choice and horrible attempt at dance moves. Wendy Liebman: Howard did not do this woman any favors at all by bringing her back. All she did was reinforce the audience's decision to vote her off. Her sob story sucks. She had a career that was doing well, she chose to get married and she chose to have children and she chose to put her career on the back burner to raise her children. Now she's crying the blues and wants to be able to pick up her career exactly where she left off. Well, times have changed, lady, the zeitgeist has changed, but your act hasn't changed a bit. It's like she can't believe the world didn't stop for her to take a time-out. Her ego is massive. Blue Journey: Yikes, the setting was funereal, most of the time it was a big blob of black, with the guy almost invisible. Yeah, I get that that's what they were probably going for, as I think he was supposed to be dead, but it was a total downer, and the music was a downer as well. America's got the talent to depress the hell out of us in the name of variety. Can I say that this was beyond the pale? Emil & Dariel: Really sorry that their grandfather couldn't join them because I think that could have been very good. I didn't like last night's performance as much their other performances, and am not sure why. Smoothini: I like this guy and think he did a good job last night. I do understand the complaints that his act isn't suited to a big stage. Christian & Scooby: Scooby made a hilarious Top Gun in his little jet. The ending was a major problem. Of course, we hope for a big ending, but there wasn't any ending at all, it just stopped. It took me a while to get what Christian was going for at the end. He had Scooby's little carrying case that Scooby usually runs to and jumps into at the end of the act, letting the lid come down and shut him in the case. But when Christian gestured for Scooby to jump in, Scooby refused (on purpose, as part of the act), then Christian acted puzzled and gestured again for Scooby to jump in the case and Scooby stood up on his front legs and sort of ran to the side, again refusing to get in the case. That was when Christian held up the lid of the case and the second little dog popped up. And that was the grand finale. In other words, the joke was that Scooby was smarter than Christian and knew the case was already occupied, great joke, ha ha, except nobody seemed to get it. They were delighted by the second dog, but didn't get the narrative, so it was all a confusing mess. However, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the act goes through anyway. Quintavious: I like this kid. The song choice and arrangement were both bad. I think he'll probably go through regardless.
  14. shapeshifter: Yes, I was including Ava/Linder in my wish list for killing Robles, also Fausto, and maybe even Marco or Eleanor. I couldn't decide between who might kill him in the nastiest possible way. That's who I would want to do it if he can't be killed more than once.
  15. I so agree that McKenzie is far too smug and happy with himself, and the reaper's coming for him. Wonder who will get his huge collection of hand-painted figurines? It would be so cool and strange if Eleanor saves Sonya. Eleanor said Sonya is an interesting person. She'll find out just how interesting if she saves Sonya and Sonya promptly tries to arrest her. heh I felt so bad for Marco when Sonya said she didn't trust him anymore. You could see that there were so many replies he wanted to make, and they all played across his face, but ultimately he couldn't say anything. I'm having a hard time deciding who I want to see kill Robles. He really deserves to be killed a couple of times. May Linder and Eva get completely away with their spree. Love the idea, SimoneS, of them having vigilante children.
  16. Well, break out the crying towel, although I don't think it's had enough time to dry out since the last go-round. My fellow couch potato masochists, we are getting more than our fair share of pain this season. But buck up, all is not gloom. We have been given another priceless opportunity to enjoy another performance of the vocal stylings of our icon, Mara. Let the judges and TPTB have one more chance to offer us the purple Kool-Aid. They cannot break us, but they can and will surely, surely, surely try.
  17. Totally agree about Howie being a rude, childish ass. I would love to see him kicked to the curb. The one thing I loved about Miguel's performance was when he ripped that hideous hat off. Howard was right that he wasn't invested in the song at all. When your are a singer you have to be an actor as well, you have to channel and project whichever emotions are implied in the song, otherwise what the hell do you think you're up there for? Make some lame sounds come out of your mouth and have everyone hand you money? But of course he will go through anyway. Agree that the soldier singer was really no different than he has been all along. I like the guy and I think he has a nice tone to his voice, but at the least he needs lessons and a lot of practice. Mara was as awful as ever. Emily was wonderful, strong and emotional. I like SOS so much, they make such pretty music. Magicians - both acts - I haven't liked either of them since the auditions. Can't help it, they seem about twenty years behind the times in magic. Can't see them doing anything beyond county fairs and birthday parties. I agree with those who like the aerialist but were disappointed with last night's performance. The part where they were completely off camera for a few seconds was not good. Was that her intention, or was that lousy camera work? I still want her to go through, but I think this put a big dent in her chances of winning. Hand balancer was as beautiful and amazing as always. Hope he makes it. Jump ropers - I like them but think they blew it. Ballet, likewise. Comedian - I like him but don't think he has the right stuff to win the competition. Thought Heidi was bonkers in her criticism. All in all, pleh. I feel like I'm crawling across the desert looking for water.
  18. Sonya seems almost incapable of seeing that there are so many gray areas in life, yet she has been surprisingly accepting of Marco's ways, and he is a walking gray area. 'Tis a puzzlement. Jack did The Right Thing by showing Sonya (the police) the body, which makes me suspect his motive. Why did he fully excavate the body himself before showing it to Sonya? (Bet the cops loved that.) Perhaps making sure there wasn't anything there to incriminate himself? I feel sorry for Hank.
  19. I was gobsmacked to see Nina Burri eliminated, but then I realized she made the mistake of having too much class, skill, and beauty for this stupid show. She indeed cast her pearls before swine. I loved seeing the discomfort of the judges having to choose between two (terrible) acts they had slathered so much unwarranted praise upon. We got cheated out of seeing the faces of the children's choir when they were given the boot. I dread that Heidi will pick them to come back. When they choose people to come back for the semi-finals, don't they usually pick acts that were caught in the fifth/sixth place decision? Not always, but usually? Well, we couch potato masochists are in for another punishing show next week.
  20. Oh goodness gracious me. I agree with everything that's been said, even where one person's statement contradicts another person's statement. How in helly hell is that possible??? But it's true. America's Got Talent: Now with Rod Serling as host. do-do-do-do do-do-do-do I'm not sure, but I think I hope that Nina Burri, Quintavious, cello bros (despite), and Smoothini (despite), go through. I am sure that I do not want children's choir, Kelli Glover, or card kid to go through. So glad this round of eliminations will be over. Sheesh.
  21. Sonya, being the unsubtle literal-thinking person she is, tells Jack they aren't boyfriend/girlfriend because Sonya knows that a boyfriend takes you to dinner, movies, etc., and while they are sex partners, and now they co-habit, Jack doesn't bring roses and candy, so he ain't no boyfriend. Eva, I think you got him, and good for you. Loved how the cop, with his head half chopped off, still manages to move his head to look at her and keep talking. But not for long, heh. Every time she whacked the guy, Linder fell ten times more in love with her. Agree that Jack was expecting to find something else entirely when he went digging. I think he's still hoping to find something else his brother possessed. Still not sure whether he was surprised or not surprised that his brother had stashed a body. Am freaked out at the idea of the massacre scene being a flash-forward. Wow.
  22. The three acts I most wanted to go through did make it, so yay for that. My dh gave out a loud laugh when they showed that pic of Nick and Mariah during the skit. Great idea there. Wonder who wrote that skit. Taylor???
  23. I agree, helenamonster and bluepiano, with what you both said about Anna the singing girl. I thought the panic attack we saw in the past was staged, too. Then last night the producers had to drag her parents into it to try heavily to convince us that all that has been presented to us about her is genuine. And on top of that, the producers had to use dopey, clumsy, Howie to try to turn audience sympathy for Robin Williams into votes for this girl. Truly disgusting. And what I cannot figure out is why - why are they so hell-bent on pushing this girl along? After all of that, I couldn't muster much enthusiasm for the rest of the show. When piano boy got into the serious part of his playing I honestly thought the piano was out of tune at first. For me, the magician was not impressive, and agree with all of you who agreed with Howard about Desmond. Acts I would want to go through: Sons of Serendip, Scooby and maybe the acrobats.
  24. Yes, scrb, I agree that the writer's can't allow the Juarez PD to be cleaned up. I'm really wondering about those drawings. I agree that Jack seemed to be trying to make sense of them, mining them for information or something. I wonder if there could be something not even associated with the murder of Sonya's sister that Jack is looking for. Maybe something he and his brother were involved in before his brother's brain was mangled by the bullet, and his brother never got to pass along some crucial information to him. Oh well, it's fun to speculate, anyway.
  25. bluepiano: Regarding the singing orphan boy, when it was announced that he was going through, Nick came over to talk to him and asked him how he felt. The boy said (paraphrasing): "I'm so happy America voted me through, even though the judges said my performance wasn't good enough. From now on I'm singing for America."
