  1. I don't like how Dany met her end. I cried my eyes out when Drogon saw she was dead. I will miss Dany's awesome outfits and her dogged insistence that the throne was hers. She made all her decisions based on her identity as the "rightful Queen." Not my favorite character on the show but I'm bummed she had to go out that way.
  2. I'd actually like this as a slick animated series for adults. I think it would be interesting as long as it isn't too children-oriented in the way it's written. Just a thought.
  3. I mentioned this in the episode thread but I really loved the way clothes were used to mirror what's going on with Sansa. She has emulated those around her in the past. But this dress integrated her family history and her own personal life experiences. She has created herself. I absolutely loved it. I will miss Sophie Turner's playfulness behind the scenes and her fierceness on screen.
  4. I'm not really getting how different things will be now that they've "broken the wheel." Yes, they questioned the crown being passed on through birthright. But what about when Bran wheeled into the small council room asking about the other 2 traditional council spots? So the council setup is still the same? Anyone understand this part? TIA! Also, it feels shady that GreyWorm is fobbed off with the promise that Jon is "going to the Wall."
  5. oh absolutely, Sansa is closed in a way that Margaery wasn't. But the dress seemed like a way for Sansa to reflect her influences. At least, this is my opinion. Doesn't need to be anyone else's. 🙂 Remember, Sansa knows how to design and sew her own dresses. Not saying she made this particular dress. But I think it's not for nothing that her coronation gown has so many nods to not just her family heritage but her life experiences.
  6. Up thread, the opinion is that Sansa's coronation gown looked like Cersei. But I think it was a dress that showed all the female influence in her life. I see some Maergary in that gown and your post reminded me. I think the dress and her throne chair, all of it, was very much Sansa creating her own image of herself as QitN. She has learned from so many and now she is taking all that she learned to rebrand.
  7. I cried. I admit it. Cried when Drogon was so upset over his Mommy. Cried when Brienne put Jaime's deeds in The Book. Cried when the Starks said goodbye. ETA: How could I forget the Very Good Boy Ghost. I cried when he got his pats from Jon.
  8. All of this. Ditto. I have read the spoilers/leaks and there doesn't seem to be much happening. I hope we get a few surprises still in this last episode. I can't wait to hear juicy behind-the-scenes gossip. Hope someone writes a book or something.
  9. eh. I'm not concerned with whether her bell-induced killing spree was telegraphed or not. I just think the acting direction and the execution (no pun intended) of the scene was subpar.
  10. Oh I get what you're saying here. It sucks to reduce women to mother/not mother categories.
  11. In an article linked in the Media thread about Bryan Cogman, Liam Cunningham was said to cursing up a storm at the table read for Season 8. I wonder, specifically, what pissed him off so much?
  12. Yeah, Euron swam ashore right at the spot Jaime would be in? Ok, show.
  13. This is my thought too: IF magic is obliterated, what is the point of the wall? Are direwolves, dragons, and the Others considered magic? If so, and if magic is gone, why would there be a wall? ETA: in the past few days (here and YouTube), I keep seeing a slightly different "leaked" ending. The one about Sansa being on the throne, Bran rebuilding the Wall, and Jon seeing a spiral in the North. It's weird that up until a few days ago, there were accepted leaked endings and now suddenly, we have a new one?
  14. Did anyone laugh out loud at Qyburn being just shoved? And then Cersei slinking by? That cracked my shit up.
  15. Yeah, no flashback to why Jon's identity is so important bums me out. I was looking forward to some Robert's Rebellion stuff.
  16. Re: Varys Curious: How many of those messages had he sent out during that day before Grey Worm came to take him to his death?
  17. also, D and company executed Varys in the dark. That's sum bullshit. She was all, Dracarys, as if she were ordering a sandwich at Subway.
  18. why was Varys removing his rings? I know he knew he was going down but what was up with the rings?
  19. what is the point of a 3ER in this universe? I feel like Bran could be used as a Google search if you ask specific questions. He can see the past and parse that code to give you all options for the future. I don't see how having a 3ER has done anything except reveal Jon's parentage and create Hodor. ETA: yeah, I obvs forgot the dagger. How about previous 3ERs? What is the point of one for this universe?
  20. I just found this show! LOL Man, it's weird. I read ahead here in the forums cuz I don't mind being spoiled. I think when William choked the lady doc in the barn, she died right then. And came back. But I don't get what she found in his open grave beside the cemetery. What was that metal thing? And why is James sometimes hot and sometimes looks like Gilbert Gottfried?
  21. and don't we see the dragon skull from the tunnels in the new season 8 opening sequence? That has made me think we'll def see something happening in the KL tunnels.
  22. I find it baffling that these two female characters are so polarizing. Sansa and Dany are both strongly written and sometimes do dumb shit. They are layered, complex, and interesting. I am a Sansa fan mostly but I give Dany props too. I don't know why it has to be either/or.
  23. just a quick note on Emilia's acting: I love that little stumble after she walks away when Missandei is brutally murdered. I loved it better than the scrunchy pissed off teenager face she made with the swelling music warning us she was "going mad." God, even the acting direction is lazy now.
  24. wait. Brienne dies at KL?! Now that pisses me off. It would have been better to kill her off at the Battle of Winterfell. I hope she doesn't go to KL to go seek out Jaime. Fuck that, the greatest knight chasing a guy to her death.
  25. I think it fits Jaime's character arc to feel he will never get/doesn't deserve a happy ending so he might as well embrace the shitty parts of his nature. Sansa's parting shot made him realize he'd never be able to just stay in the North with Brienne. My .02 on this episode: why is the title The Last of the Starks? one of the worst-written episodes of the entire series some cheesy acting from some good actors. What's up with that?! Fuck Jon. Seriously. Poor Ghost. The Rhaegal thing happened so fast. I barely had time to register what was happening.
