Bethy, I think that depends on whether or not they are going to use (what I believe is) Kripke's original ending of the "five year plan". That would be a "Butch & Sundance" end with both brothers sacrificing themselves to save the world - yet again. I believe that that scenario was the original concept of "Swan Song" with both brothers overcoming their vessels to sacrifice themselves to save the world, thus redeeming themselves for starting the Apocalypse. But since Kripke's not in the picture, but Bob Singer is, who knows? My personal headcanon is that they are in a TV show called "Supernatural" since the end of "Changing Channels" when they said that they wished they were still in a TV show. Wish granted by Gabe, aka The Trickster. Don't mind me, I'm a little crazy at times...

Supernatural Bitterness & Unpopular Opinions: You All Suck
FlickChick replied to mstaken's topic in Supernatural
Wow, pawneerangers, that's a lot of reading at one time! Welcome to our crazy site. :) Everyone's opinion is welcomed here. Actually, I agree with many of your opinions, especially liking S4 a great deal because it actually had a fairly good progression of the mytharc. I thought Castiel was a wonderful addition to the cast, and I, too, have always liked Bobby. I think they did the character a terrible disservice by killing him off and then adding the "ghost" storyline. I too, liked Bela and Genevieve as Ruby compared to Katie Cassidy. Although "It's a Terrible Life" is one of my favorite episodes, I think that "What Is..." is probably my favorite of the series because it gives us an early glimpse into Dean's psyche and RealSam's determination to save his brother. Also, the positioning of that episode right before Dean loses Sam drives home its meaning even more IMO. -
SueB, loved your costume and the two of you probably should have won the contest. I've been to the cons, and yes, very poor scheduling on Saturdays. Your daughter is beautiful and now the fancy dress makes sense as Rowena. You're beautiful too, but you should probably shave just a wee bit closer. :)

Omegamom, back in the day when it first aired there was much laughter over at TWOP. This is what happens when the writer doesn't research his "location". :)

I'm right there with you, Dot. I thought that S10 was better than the other Carver seasons. I appreciated that Sam really loved his brother and actively tried to help him, albeit unwisely. Also, the myth-arc was front and center throughout most of the season (my preference) including a lack of "comedic relief" episodes (aka often poorly written trash, in my book) toward the end of the season going into the finale. I hate to get my hopes up for the next season, but I'm more optimistic that maybe Carver has learned a thing or two about pacing. I know, I know...

Hey, catrox, totally agree with you. Ten years, wow!! I certainly hope that they give Jensen the souped-up Impala that he now drives when the series ends. I think he's earned it. On another topic, (but including Baby) in the Fan Fiction episode, right after that ingenious title card, Dean polishing her engine and then that slow walk to the back of the car is a real fan tribute to Dean girls especially. When I was re-watching recently, it struck me how "un-Supernatural" like that shot was. And thank you!!!!

You got that right!!!!

Yes, we've had some great one-off kids! Where we hit the jackpot, IMO, is with Colin Ford as young Sam. Each time he appeared, he really did seem like the younger version of Sam, regardless of the age he was portraying. I also think that Dylan Everett did a great job playing Dean as a teen, and especially as adult Dean in a teen body in "About a Boy".

Well, that is how they advertised the show after all. ;) And I think at the time they had the second highest ratings on the WB after Smallville. Man, how things changed when the CW and the SN-hating witch took over in season 2. :(

If I'm not mistaken, the seasons it was on Fridays, they replaced it with "Whose Line.." and other programs during a large chunk of the summer reruns. In other summer seasons, it was replaced by "specials", the "I *heart* Radio", et al. No matter which night the show was on, that was the night that the replacements were made in our time slot. I'm not saying it was off all summer, but if this is starting now, that wouldn't be all summer either.

The CW has been doing this to Supernatural since its beginning. Red-headed stepchild you know. I'm surprised they're taking Arrow repeats off, however. Maybe it's becoming like our show now - a steady fan base, so no need to worry about when/where they schedule it, or take it off altogether for awhile. Its fans will come back in the Fall.

I absolutely, positively, cannot watch the warehouse scene with Dean's "family" in What Is and What Should Never Be without crying. And that's only after I've recovered from the earlier scene at "John's" grave. I almost always cry when Dean is holding Sam's body at the end of All Hell Breaks Loose, Pt. 1. Also, the first time I watched it, I cried when Sam said "I'm supposed to wake up" while holding Dean's body on the first Wednesday in Mystery Spot. To be honest, I've cried in more episodes of this series than I have in any other in my long, long TV-watching history. I guess these characters really tug at my heart.

Nope! The greed at Creation is too great. I did attend one convention at which Jared auctioned off a watch he wore in the show to support his Mom's school in TX. Got a good amount of money, too. At another convention, the boys actually auctioned off a couple of jars of rock salt for various charities. But, it's always the cast members who have to do charity auctions with their own "offerings". Really rather sad when you consider how generous both the cast members and the fans are to various charitable causes.
-
The signed banners are auctioned off to the attendees at the end of the convention. Actually, several banners that are signed and hung about are auctioned off. However, none of the proceeds goes to a charity, just to bolster the coffers of Creation Conventions who put on the convention. That always irked me. Creation's prices are outrageous and they can't give a little to a worthy cause.

Aeryn13, I could not agree more. Kim's death IMO was the greatest loss on this show. I agree with all of you that Carver should not be the show-runner for Supernatural. He must just enjoy the power and the paycheck, because I'm not seeing any positive creativity from him or the staff that he oversees. And I am so glad the the CC audience wouldn't accept his bullshit answer for why he killed Charlie. Too bad he doesn't have to answer to anyone in authority over him. :(

Supernatural Bitterness & Unpopular Opinions: You All Suck
FlickChick replied to mstaken's topic in Supernatural
I've been watching since day one. I agree with you catrox, that Jensen has developed the character of Dean Winchester into one of the finest on TV in any series as well as equal to many on the big screen. That is something that not all actors can do and it is a testament to his exceptional natural talent. It will be a great loss when the show ends for the loss of Dean Winchester. However, that said, with the poor writing these last several seasons, Jensen isn't getting a chance to sink his teeth into much with the exception of MoC/demon Dean. So tired of the rinse and repeat of storylines, emotions, fights, drama, etc. And I personally blame Singer more than Carter for that since he's the one who's been here since day one. I also agree with you 7kstar, that each season brings at least a few episodes that are good. The problems seem to lie in the overall storytelling, the arcs, and as mentioned before, the rinse and repeat. And let's not forget the obnoxious, frat-boy so-called humor instead of the more subtle humor within an episode that we used to get. But I can't quit the show either because of Jensen, but also I do want to see how it ends - Butch & Sundance or Hollywood Happy. -
Catrox, I share your desire to see Jensen in a good movie or series of them. Unfortunately, every time he puts his name on a renewal contract with Supernatural, his future success in those endeavors fades away a little bit more. :( I sincerely hope the coming season is the last or I fear that neither of the boys will be burning up Hollywood. And with Jensen's father in the voice business, if nothing comes up for Jensen, he may follow in his father's footsteps. What a loss that would be!

Let's face it, the Emmy wins have become almost exclusively cable or premium channel shows - both of which have a different base for the productions of their shows and don't rely on advertising dollars. Only network comedies have a prayer of getting a nod or maybe an occasional drama. The whole thing has become somewhat of a joke. The original concept of honoring shows that were above the rest - on equal footing - is long gone.

Mick Lady, I think it's Archive of our Own - a place where people post their stories in various fandoms. http://archiveofourown.org

Supernatural Obsession: Quotes, Memorable Moments, etc
FlickChick replied to mstaken's topic in Supernatural
I started watching from the "Pilot" and enjoyed how we learned more about each character (personality, motivations, general backstory, likes/dislikes, etc) in each of the early MOTW episodes. But what really hooked me was the initial myth-arc of trying to find their missing father and solve the mystery behind their mother's death which was later intertwined with how/why of Sam's visions. There was purpose to the storytelling; there was humor and tragedy; there was real drama that evolved from the story (Faith) instead of manufactured angst of brotherly fighting. They were heroes then, saving people, hunting things, the family business. There was, IMO, Kim Manners who kept a close eye on everything, more so even than Kripke. RIP Kim. Nonetheless, I'll be here until the end even if the show isn't what it used to be.
