  1. I like it that way, it looks pretty. Reminds me of how we kicked in the 80's. Jump split is dangerous, especially if someone next to you is off. My almost 50 year old knees are shot from all the jumping and dropping to the floor we did way back.
  2. So I guess we should just cancel Halloween now. Can't dress as pop star, person of color, can't honor another culture, etc. What happened to copying is the sincerest form of flattery? Too many rules and people wasting energy being offended. Eddie Murphy made fun of white people ALL the time, I laughed. PS. Rachel looks lighter in her Halloween costume than she does in her DCC uniform.
  3. And those are all assumptions, you don't know any of that for sure. If that is true than of course they are wrong for doing that. I would also encourage more POC to try out.
  4. In some cases yes, and that is not solving anything. Moving forward is having good conversations, not putting down other races (any of them) to get your statement across.
  5. This is not my frustration at all, it's making comments against white people that would be completely unacceptable if turned around. Race issues are never going to get better if one keeps putting down the other to get there. I'm for an all POC team if they are the most qualified...I'm not for picking POC just to fill a quota. There are so many variables here, the only ones that can truly answer how they come to their decision is to question the judges (some of which are POC). If you want to truly make things fair in life, then make it like masked dancer. But that should also apply to job apps and college apps too, remove sex and race from the form altogether.
  6. Spot on.... Can you imagine if the opposite of "so much whiteness" was said? Nope because it is not ok.
  7. If I looked like this I wouldn't wear clothes either...IJS. I wish I looked this good.
  8. Was reading an article about the tornado in Tyler yesterday and saw a familiar face in the ads....
  9. It was extremely infuriating! I can't imagine trying to tell someone your truth and repeatedly being told your a liar. I'm still not convinced that the Ex didn't have some part in this. The kidnapper(s) knew too much about these people.
  10. Yeah, it was pretty awful how they handled this - from the lack of investigating, to the public put down press conferences basically stating they were liars. Just couldn't believe they didn't do more. It really bit them in the end, you can't blame the couple for filing a lawsuit after they were so publicly defamed. I am amazed after all that trauma they were able to stay together and start a family, most people wouldn't make it through something like that. I was so glad this one ultimately had a happy ending.
  11. Yeah, I find her statement to be slightly obnoxious. Even though she is not my fav I do hope whatever is going on is nothing too serious.
  12. Just commenting because of all the Blonde hate on this thread and continued mention of lack of diversity.
  13. She's blonde and not diverse enough, are we allowed to like her?
  14. I almost spit out my water! lol. It's ridiculous, the guy is so totally guilty. What a waste of time and resources. I was shaking my head the whole show, he is just gross. That is what I don't get...don't people watch crime shows? lol. How often do they actually get to run off with the mistress and insurance money? The one that still kills me the most though is Chris Watts, so awful.
  15. That is awesome! Hopefully you are changing their idea of how someone in your field should look :) When I started in Banking in the 90's I mostly worked with men, you definitely see a lot more women in Leadership roles now and it is nice to see.
  16. I wasn't criticizing your post per se, it was the last after a series of similar comments. Just felt the need to say something and I'm sorry if you thought it was directed at you. Honestly if people really want change they need to write letters in force to CMT or to DCC/Dallas Cowboys organization directly. Maybe then they will know how people really feel, maybe it is time for the Old School folks to move on down the road (Kelli/Judy). I was a Strutter in 90-91, Ms. Tidwell the founder was still the director. It was somewhat ridiculous, her mentality was stuck in the 50-60's. The team since she retired has progressed tremendously.
  17. It is not a matter of disagreeing, I want more diversity as well. I appreciate your perspective. My point is that you can't sit at home and complain if you don't even try. You have to be like Briana, Jacie, Robin, Jasmine, Jada, Armani, Yuko, etc. and show up. All very beautiful, talented, strong women of color. I would think that would encourage others to follow suit. I hope it will get better the more people try and time passes. People like my Grandfather that actually were racist are dying off.
  18. This is something I have drilled into my own children. I've always been a realist - I have and never will tell my children "you can be or do anything you want". That is the biggest load of BS. I tell them to be responsible, be on time, be ACCOUNTABLE, if you want something work hard for it. When something goes wrong, what was your part in it? What could you have done differently/better, etc.? The sooner someone moves on from blame the better off they will be. When I tried out for HS dance team, I came from band - never trained in dance but always wanted to do it. I couldn't even do the splits when I started. I worked my a$$ off and ended up being the most flexible one, I stretched any chance I got. Many thought I couldn't do it but I never listened and I am so glad. It was some of the best years of my life.
  19. I'm sorry, I've read a few of the posts and just keep reading a lot of excuses. Dallas is extremely diverse, if the girls aren't trying out that is on them. Nothing is ever going to change if people keep blaming others. This has been going on since I danced in the late 80's in San Antonio, also very diverse. Many black girls didn't try out for dance team because other black girls at my school accused them of trying to be white. That is when I really learned about within race discrimination, I don't get it. Then when I made officer, the 3 girls that didn't make it (2 black, 1 latino -) blamed it solely on race. Seriously? So that makes those of that did make it feel great, like we didn't deserve it. I'm all for diversity but if the percentages aren't there at tryouts than you can't pick someone just to fill a spot. You already said you assumed your DCC tryout would be more challenging, how do you actually know that if you don't even try? PS- I'm a 5'5 thick thighed curvy girl, used to be blonde. Being a blonde was boring, been a brunette or redhead since the late 90's.
  20. I could be completely wrong but I just get a feeling there is more to this story....we saw Tiffany outright lie that Kam had not reached out to her as a new housewife. This is unusual behavior, I think something else happened.
  21. I just don't think she added anything really. I will not miss the Kardashian voice...
  22. I will have to look up Ryan Ferguson, not sure I'm familiar with that story. The Detectives did the father so completely wrong here, was pretty shameful. I know they wanted to "catch" someone but man that was disgusting. I'm sad too that they couple couldn't stay together after everything they had been through.
  23. This one just broke my heart :( Such a sweet little girl. Eby is true evil, glad they caught him and he is locked away. I hate when I put in two hours of my life and it isn't resolved at the end.
