  1. I watch the reruns of the previous episodes Sunday afternoons before the 8pm episode. This past Sunday when they showed an episode with the 3 of them out by the river fishing, dock building or whatever ***I think*** Trish was the one who noticed the caiman and pointed it out. Later on Amber coached Jen on how to grab the one that was on the line … so later on how come between the 2 of them were they not able to catch at least one of them? And no, that net was not genius. Seeing it on TV and knowing how fish flip and flop when caught one can see how poorly built it is for its intended purpose. Watching Trish’s tired, lazy act and Jen’s reaction of “I can’t do this alone” was fun to watch but despite this I do think they’ll make it to 40 ok, remember that dock can serve as a raft and it’s mostly built so they won’t have to waste energy on that. The one thing I do want is to never, ever see Trish on this show again. Jen on the other hand, it would depend on who she’s paired with. She was a real disappointment IMO.
  2. If this is “real” then what was what we were watching all these years? Not real? 🤣🤣. I guess it’s their way of naming it to not get it confused with the original but it’s from so long ago it might not make a difference? I watched the original back in the day so it could be interesting to see who would show up on this version.
  3. That was excessive … then they called themselves the jungle gangsters (or something like that), at least they didn’t immediately sit down and make a stupid sign.
  4. Yes, it’s a new season. At the end of last nights episode they had a season preview. ID has been running a commercial lately about upcoming new episodes for some of their shows and Fear Thy Neighbor but don’t give dates. So yes they should do a better job of promoting when they’re going to be airing.
  5. I saw the same posting there too and while I was generally supportive of Amber through the episodes my opinion of her has risen. There’s also a post from Matt that’s pretty diplomatic in saying don’t blame the edits that made you look bad on TV. Talking about Matt, Dan and Waz - handling that anaconda, wow. When they were talking about the spiritual nature of it with reference to the natives, my thinking was, then you’re going to eat it? That’s nuts! Respect to them for letting it go despite its size. Just wondering though if that’s another one of those animals that are on the do not kill list in exchange for filming there. EJ trying to nab that eel - it seems any time there’s an eel catch there’s 2 people involved. Hoping he gets it but having help could increase the chance. With both 3 person teams thriving I’m wondering which one is going to move since they all usually join up into one team. I’m eager to see how well they all work together.
  6. I’m glad Amber found EJ and Steven and they’re working together so well. This is the show I want to watch, along with Matt, Dan and Waz. It’s funny that when Jen talked about all the teammates she’s lost she’s sitting next to the person who helped drive one of them away. So it takes 2 of them to catch a little fish with that crappy net. Then that crappy fruit. Not so tough are they?
  7. They should be fine based on how they each did on their challenges prior to this XL however Jen’s reaction to Amber announcing she’s leaving (What? You’re leaving without discussing it first?) made me think she’s certain they’re screwed, undermining themselves and their survival abilities. If at the time she was aware Amber overheard their conversation with Jeff she might have thought differently, who knows.
  8. @Captain Asshat yes 100% to both of your posts. Rewatching the first episode, Amber/Trish/Jen had a (seemingly) quick discussion and resolution about the shelter spot, building, etc. No conflicts then. That roof? It should be secure enough for it to be toasty warm as well was waterproof - I’m not sure if I missed something but why did they even stop working on the shelter at all before all the fireworks started - it got too dark? That’s the part I’m not clear on but yeah, that’s about the time the problems started. Then later with the fishing line and that crappy net. Trish has the nerve to take ownership over Jeff’s fishing line, I hope she struggled with catching fish with it, along with finding lousy bait. I suppose they’ll get their “savior” catch right before extraction but if they’re going to attempt it from the spot where that dock is, good luck with making it through those hyacinths. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Then with Jeff’s arrival, boo on the producers not making the teams 3-3-3 but whatever. Dan had mentioned that he spoke with Matt before the challenge for advice so no surprise he’s delighted to take some mentoring from him. Steven did need EJ for help, even if it was just for someone to talk to and be able to answer back and have a real conversation.
  9. Glad the drama with the women is over - or I hope. So Jeff, Trish and Jen were going to leave Amber in the middle of the night but they’re surprised when Amber says she’s leaving the group with no discussion? I’m glad Amber took the high road with her pep talk exit speech saying they’ll do well in their remaining 10 days. Even if they don’t catch much it isn’t that long, maybe they can weave another mat in the meantime 😆😆😆 But the big mystery is what will Trish and Jen have to talk about now that Amber is gone???? Their remarks about not being able to leave after Jeff tapped sounded like they feel like Amber is keeping them hostage. Watching them fish and catch nothing while Steven and EJ are catching one fish after another was pretty funny. Whichever camp Amber ends up with it looks like she can do well, I hope she was able to leave that bad experience behind her. I was wondering if even though he wasn’t 100% at the time if they would have left that night if it hadn’t rained. Although it’s better the way it worked out what they were planning would have been interesting to watch.
  10. I was expecting a tap out in last nights episode but I wasn’t sure who would decide to leave. The first one after 15 days - this is a hearty bunch, I’m glad that we didn’t get anyone who taps out at the first sight of a hint of potential danger. Now I’m wondering how long the winner will be out there. Several of them appear to be pretty good at catching fish, that brook trout looks pretty tasty. Usually on these survival shows I’m cringing at what the survivalists are eating - bugs, snakes and worms are a big no from me but my mouth was watering at the thought of the taste of that trout. 15 days out in the wilderness must have given Jacques some more of an idea of what he really wants. Time alone with only your thoughts will do that to you.
  11. One can only hope … if CNN’s ratings improve as a result I wouldn’t be surprised if they do.
  12. @AZChristian interesting point about Jeff’s “vomiting”, I’m probably going to watch the re-air Sunday to see. I wouldn’t be surprised regarding any loose scripting here. Someone has to be doing well in this group, right?😆
  13. I’m hoping the previews aren’t a ruse - Amber moves on and Jeff taps because of whatever his ailment is … or at least is that much of a detriment to the group as a whole (after Amber leaves) that Trish is resentful that she has to carry the group as far as catching fish, etc. I didn’t keep track of how many days have passed so far during Sundays episode but I think it’s getting close to 30 so I figure the chances of Trish and Jen making it to 40 are pretty good. With that said I was thinking about future XLs and who’d show up again to possibly attempt 60 days - if Trish is one of them I’d be tempted to not tune in but this depends on whoever she’d be teamed with.
  14. No, I can’t stand her either, mainly because when we see her working on what she thinks is important it’s some me-centric or useless garbage like that net that seems to have disappeared. That sign is dumb. Another born and raised “Jersey Girl” here and I find it offensive that Trish uses that as an excuse for her behavior. There are plenty of nice people here and she’s giving us a bad rep.
  15. I’m not sure if what’s going on with the women’s group started out script generated or not but I’m certain once they planned to send in the 3 legends they couldn’t help but send Jeff to a still intact team that wasn’t getting along … just to pour gas on the fire. IMO I think Steven should have gotten more than one person for help despite the fact he’s completed a 60 day challenge already as well as others, just to make the camps 3-3-3. I’ve never been much of a fan of Amber but I don’t hate her either. I would like to see her get 60 days though (maybe we won’t see her again & see someone else?) but how well does she think she knows Jeff that she could tell him something that could blow back in her face, especially someone who has pulled garbage before to antagonize people? As far as Jeff the showboater is concerned if he does what he was “hired” to do for this XL and is done for good with this show I’ll be okay with that. Time for some new regular cast here.
  16. Based on the preview clip they showed last night I’d say a tap out is a definite possibility. 🤣
  17. I was wondering the same thing too - I’m guessing probably. By now you’d think maybe Amber should realize she should adjust a bit with Trish? Jeff seems like he’s stirring the pot than trying to be a mediator. He says he wants to take Trish and Jen under his wing - what makes him think he’ll do any better? He wants to catch a big eel so he’ll need help, who’s going to put down their weaving or sign making long enough to do that, lol. Trish told Jeff she caught 3 fish “just like that” the other day while Amber is out all day fishing. Okay, so why isn’t she out there catching the treasure trove of fish? She doesn’t consider the food sources are drying up like the other camps have noted. Idiot. I’m concerned for both Dan and Steven, they both don’t look so good with the weight loss. I hope Steven and EJ find Dan/Waz/Matt to team up. I want to see more of the men and how well they’re working together, not this cringey women not getting along drama garbage.
  18. I’d think amongst the 3 of them total days done would be close already if their regular Naked and Afraid appearances are included. Plus Steven did that 14 day challenge in Alaska which in my opinion is a pretty impressive thing to accomplish.
  19. I was thinking, oh it’s “Eye-Gore”, ha ha. I’m rooting for one of the women to make it to the end. I think Jessie - the former SERE (?) instructor has a better chance. Anyone here watch Naked and Afraid? Watching Karie when she shot the grouse and how she quietly celebrated made me think she’s the polar opposite, anti Jeff (who has a habit of yelling each time he makes a catch, no matter how many times he’s done it to the annoyance of everyone else) I thought Juan Pablo’s use of the cans for a stove/chimney was pretty clever. Hope it works well for him. It looks like it’s still pretty “warm” there if no one is stressing about building a fire yet unless they each brought some toasty clothes with them.
  20. One thing I wondered when watching the cringey segments with Amber/Trish/Jen is if it were Suz Ahn with her over explaining things instead of Amber would things be better or worse.
  21. Yeah, I don’t see that teaming working out too well. Granted he’s a fisherman and will probably catch plenty for the team but I’m thinking Amber’s not going to take his joining the group too well going forward. I am interested in how well he’ll get along with Trish. About Trish and that stupid net it seems she abandoned it since she was going in to the water to get a fish during last night’s episode. Poor Steven - those caiman eggs didn’t seem to work out for him later. I hope with EJ joining him they’ll be able to actually catch a caiman. Loved the swing that Dan and Waz built and how well they’re working together. I’m concerned for Dan and that injury from catching the anteater. I was almost expecting a tap out. I had a hard time watching them catch it too. I am excited for the teaming with Matt, they can only get stronger.
  22. I don’t like that episode either mostly because of the yelling and the general dislike the couple seemed to have for each other. I didn’t care about the characters either. There are a bunch of clunkers in the 5th season (along with some classics) but I’m not sure if I could identify the worst episode out of the bunch. Have you seen “Uncle Simon” yet? The 2 main characters in that episode are pretty unlikeable too.
  23. Something I’ve been wondering about Trish - she’s not going to come right out and say it I’m sure but maybe this is an age thing. Trish is older than Amber and some people have a problem with taking advice or “orders” from someone younger. We’re not seeing everything going on so perhaps Amber has mentioned the roof, firewood, etc thing so many times that by the time she brings it up and it’s the time it’s aired for all viewers to see it is coming off as bossy to some. This thing with Trish is sort of reminiscent of the teaming of Shane/Alana/Dani from the first XL when Shane got bullied out and left when Jeff/EJ came along. I don’t think Amber is going to leave for another group until an official merge but I’m guessing if Trish were paired with one of the other legends there’s a chance she’d pull the same garbage with her self centric tasks, who knows about the trash talk.
