  1. I liked how Caroline asked Adam [ADAM!] of all people to borrow a shirt.
  2. I know there are many, many reasons it would never happen (including the danger of bruising host egos), but I would LOVE to watch a reality show about the making of SNL. They could film it all year and then run it between seasons over the summer. What fun to watch Kate McKinnon develop her Bieber! Or to see Drake trying on an array of wizard costumes to get the cosplay just right! Or to watch someone explain to Drake what cosplay is!
  3. I happened upon Dahlia Lithwick's piece from last year on Order Muppets and Chaos Muppets and realized that Capt. Holt is essentially the platonic ideal of an Order Muppet. He is basically Bert + Sam the Eagle. And he operates within a sea of Chaos Muppets who "make their way through life in a swirling maelstrom of food crumbs and small flaming objects." Taking this theory a step further: Jake is obviously Ernie; Terry is Big Bird; and Gina is... some frightening combination of Animal and Statler/Waldorf?
  4. Steven Tyler as Hook? Billy Ray Cyrus as Hook [to Miley's Pan]? CYNDI LAUPER as Hook?!? The Hook casting possibilities delight me.
  5. I want to talk casting. I'm not really familiar with the Pan musical... but it always involves a Lady Peter, right? So... no Bruno Mars or Clay Aiken (hee) as Peter Pan? Rihanna as Peter Pan would amuse me muchly, but that's not going to happen. Demi Lovato? A lesser Kardashian? Oh, wait. Taylor Swift. It's totally going to be Taylor Swift, right?
  6. Hells, yeah. That was excellent. I literally LOL-ed... seven-ish times? The lesson is either [a] that every sitcom should have a lie detector episode or that every sitcom should have a Walton Goggins episode. I would also accept [c] that I should have a glass of wine before watching every sitcom episode.
  7. I wrote a version of this in an episode thread. But I think I wish they had spoofed a different genre altogether. Archer Vice feels a little on the nose. Maybe put the show in a Real Housewives situation or a Survivor/American Idol situation or a TV sitcom situation or something like that.
  8. I wish they would need a babysitter for Bert. And that that babysitter would be Dahlia from Suburgatory.
  9. That's SERGEANT Peanut Butter Big Lil Sebastian, Kate!
  10. Yeah... this could work. Seeing the episode, I'm totally on board with a format re-set. I do kind of wish they had gone the other direction, though, and made them all insurance adjustors or something (in a witness protection program?). I like the show best when these ridiculous people are dealing with something mundane, rather than when they are matched with a ridiculous setting.
  11. Well, I think it's that (a) no one wants their kid to have to testify in front of a grand jury and (b) who knows if some sort of weird perjury (or whatever) charge could emerge. And I agree that the case-o'-the-week strained credulity. There was just too much chaos and nonsense with the double jury for it to be remotely believable.
  12. That was EXCELLENT. And I'm so glad I flew to England rather than waited. Because I'm sure that when it airs on PBS there will be a round of "make sure you don't spoil the third episode" talk that would have inadvertantly clued me in on the Mary shenanigans. The plotting is just so tight on this. I love, for instance, how they visually introduced the idea of Sherlock's mind palace well before cluing us in on the villain's mind palace. We as viewers weren't even aware that it was essentially Checkov's Mind Palace!
  13. I'm in basically the same boat. I had read a few comics over the years but have just in the last month or so gotten much more into it the whole thing. I even visited an actual comic store last week! Without a doubt, you need to read Saga. And probably Y: The Last Man. Both are by Brian K. Vaughan. And both are just really good at world-building and at mixing drama/humor. The new Hawkeye (by Matt Fraction and David Aja) is also great -- and I'm not someone who is generally interested in the superhero side of comics. Beyond that, I've also totally enjoyed Nowhere Men, Punk Rock Jesus, and The Manhattan Projects.
  14. Depends for me on how hard they lean into the dog-reuniting, head-grabbing, heart-warming parts of the plot. I'm wary of too many lessons being learned. If it ends up being a weekly Soldier X Learns Lesson Y sort of thing, I'm out.
  15. About 2/3 of the way through, my friends and I all glanced at each other and burst out laughing at how absurd the whole thing was. Especially the pants. The pants were a PROBLEM. [That said... I still liked it quite a lot. Especially the design stuff.]
  16. Good point on the need for some New Kate Beats. Sadly, as someone-or-other mentioned elsewhere, I fear that the "New Beat" will be a surprise end-of-season pregnancy.
  17. The revelation was that he was dead for awhile?!?! Seriously? Not a clone/ghost/zombie sort of thing? I look forward to the oral history of What Went [Epically] Wrong with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. [starting, of course, with the title and its damned punctuation].
  18. I'm curious to see whether Sarah remains the show protagonist. Season One was primarily (although certainly not exclusively) Sarah's story. Will the same be true of Season Two? Who will be the first clone we see? That will be telling as to the season-long perspective.
  19. Maybe it's just a drug cartel stint for an episode or two? Which will then be revealed to be an ISIS plan?
  20. I liked this episode more than I think I should have. And it occurred to me while watching it that Sherlock may be the rare SHOW WITH NO PIERCE [a "Pierce" being that annoying character who could be lifted from the show entirely and whose absence would automatically improve said show]. I think I like all of the supporting characters! That Molly person should be annoying. Really. But I find her endearing! We've seen 20,002 put-upon police chiefs on television, do we need another? Apparently we do because I like the Sherlock one! Mary, the new third-wheel wife? ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER! Mrs. Hudson? Cackle away, Mrs. H! I love you too! Am I wrong to declare this show Pierce-less?
  21. Yep. This thing is exciting both because of it itself and because it pushes along the promising idea of anthology TV. Next we need an anthology sitcom!
  22. This whole world of "Youtube channels" is still a mystery to me. Any tips to doing Youtube channels right? Should I... subscribe to things? Is "subscribing" a thing?
  23. True. Leonard had more lines than Chang! Which is good. And it would indeed seem that to be a true Pierce of a show, a candidate would have to be a bigger presence than that. I think we need someone to go on an Abed-esque quest to determine the proper new Pierce of Community. Yarn and post-its will be involved. Will it be Shirley? Britta? Jeff? ABED HIMSELF??? Who knows?
  24. "The Perfect Job." "The Perfect Man." "The Perfect Chance... To Throw It All Away!" I guess they're assuming all of the fans are going to show up regardless and are therefore gearing their in-trailer taglines to an entirely different audience? Because... YIKES!
