S04.E04: A Break Is Necessary
brillia79 replied to TwirlyGirly's topic in 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After
I think Pedro’s mom is a lawyer. But lawyer doesn’t mean good income in the DR. Or here, for that matter. -
That’s why I said they were a watered down version of Chantel’s parents: no matter what the foreign spouse does, good or bad, they will find fault because they wanted a different partner for their son/daughter. If my son came to visit with his wife and I didn’t care for what she was wearing, I’d keep it to myself. Because I have no business telling a grownup what to wear. That would be rude and a bad way to welcome my daughter in law to the family. Respect goes both ways, and silence is free. Still not sorry. Wearing a sleep set you can find in any Macy’s or Walmart is not going to cause a familial rift. Being upset that your son brought home a wife from another country who they don’t know at all just might. That’s Russ’s fault. But it’s much easier to blame the foreign spouse that the kid you raised who didn’t strictly adhere to your values.

Elizabeth & Andrei: Expectant Mother Trucker
brillia79 replied to Morrissey's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
I’m thinking if I did all that hard ass work to get back to America (remember, he overstayed his visa and shouldn’t have even been permitted re-entry on a K-1 visa), I’m not gonna bust my ass like that again (or even lift a finger) as long as someone’s daddy is throwing money my way. Honestly, it’s not a stupid short term plan. Just risky in the long term if daddy cuts them off or dies and leaves them nothing. All his manly man of the house talk is protesting too much. Just grift in silence. Mow the lawn. Finish the tile backsplash in the kitchen. -
See, I have no doubt that Pao was a skimpy dressing party girl when they met in Colombia. I do doubt how much Russ’s simple midwestern persona was on display there. He liked that party girl, brought her home, and expected her to become a simple midwestern (I’m gonna puke if I have to type this phrase one more time) wife. He could’ve found such a woman in Oklahoma in the first place. Just like I said last week that Pao could’ve stayed in Colombia if she thrives only when immersed in South American culture. They are poorly matched.
-
Well, I think it’s rude to make a guest feel uncomfortable in your home... all for the crime of wearing shorts and a tank top in the morning. Sorry, not sorry. She wasn’t being insulting (then). She wasn’t naked - not even close. And so when Pao insisted they stay in a hotel this time, she’s the bad guy? I wouldn’t sleep in their home again either. We’ve got a watered down version of Mom n’ Dad Chantel here. Pao could’ve been wearing an old lady house dress and Russ’s parents would still take offense to her presence because they want their son with someone else. Someone “midwestern.” Maybe they’re right. It’s more honest to just marry who mommy and daddy want you to marry that to pressure someone to change to meet your parents’ approval.

Elizabeth & Andrei: Expectant Mother Trucker

I don’t know if it’s fair to blame Andrei’s excuses on Libby entirely. He has no problem bossing her around per his traditional “masculine” Moldovan values. But when it comes to working, is’s “My wife won’t let me?” How convenient for him. Andrei is a golddigger. The likes of which Pao, Anfisa and Larissa can only dream about being. -
Plus, it was not Russ’s mom’s place to tell Pao to cover up. You’s think She came downstairs in crotchless fetishwear instead of a camisole and some shorts. She acts like there are no breasts ever shown in the Midwest. Lies!
-
And a spiteful teen at that. She wants half of everything from their 2 second marriage even though she did her damnedest to interfere with his work and wanted him to quit his job? Jon should leave the teens alone next time he goes in vacay. And not complete the green card paperwork unless he wants to pay for Fernanda’s living expenses for 10 years.
-
Paul and Karine.
-
Sure she could. However, it’s less likely that she gets a non-daddy job until after the baby comes. Showing up to a job interview visibly pregnant is a good way to get a rejection letter. It’s not legal, but pregnant women still have a hard time finding employment. I'm not determined to see Andrei as a lazy, entitled bum and a creep. I’m working with what he’s giving me. Libby sucks too. But I can’t help but remember Andrei talking like he was a man with a plan, who needed no financial help because he had his own savings and Libby’s family was gonna have to just fuck off. He can feel free to put up or shut up any day now.
-
I FaceTimed in for my niece’s birth. I. Saw. Everything. It was pretty awesome.
-
With no job to support said baby, any job is the job for him right now. Men in the military miss the births of their children due to active duty plenty. What’s so special about Andrei?
-
I don’t want to hear another thing about traditional Moldovan values until Andrei can support his own family without Libby’s dad’s money. Not another word.

But why shouldn’t Pao suck it up and move to Oklahoma? That is where her husband was living when they came back to the US. She knew that before the wedding. Instead. Pao proceeded to make up a fake modeling career to move to Miami and told Russ they were finished if he didn’t get on the Miami plan. Russ gets to Miami and surprise surprise, no modeling career. She can’t support herself in Miami and there are better employment opportunities for Russ elsewhere. Pao is the aging version of Fernanda. A selfish opportunist. But here’s what it really boils down to. Pao could’ve stayed in Colombia if she needs to be around likeminded people and a shared sense of culture. Bucamarenga looks nice! She could’ve been an Instagram thot anywhere in the world. Why did she need to marry Russ? Oh yeah, to be on tv. As for Russ and men in general, don’t marry a party girl and think you can turn her into a meek schoolmarm wearing cardigan sets and ankle length skirts. Russ could’ve found that woman in Oklahoma. Why do these guys keep acting ashamed of the party girl they have good times with when it comes to their families? What kind of identity crisis is this? He’s also not camera shy. -

And no one who drops the “I gave up everything” line goes back home to family and friends when the relationship goes south. They hightail it to a major city still in the United States. They try (and fail) at modeling. -

I hope this isn’t getting off topic/ boards on boards, but what’s the sense in having pages full of comments about how terrible the others are based on how they portray themselves on the show, but when it comes to Libby and Andrei, well that dreamboat is putting on a bad boy act exclusively for the cameras. Nothing to see here. Sure, reality tv plays fast and loose with the concept of reality, but they work with what they are given. It would be nice to think all these couples really get along, but over the seasons, we’ve had stalking, fisticuffs, blood drawn, divorces, court dates and prison time. No one on these shows is that good of an actor. -

Thank you! And that is really all we have to go on, other than the occasional internet sleuthing. If Andrei and Libby are given the benefit of the doubt for fake storylines, then why any of the other train-wreck couples? Furthermore, what kind of person would intentionally act like a lazy, entitled walking red flag? Does this show even pay that well? When it comes down to it, there is little difference in motive between Andrei and Azan. Azan just prefers his cash in hand instead of free rent and groceries. And doesn’t have to sleep with Nicole too often. -

Alexei is the man Andrei pretends to be. And he’s not a menacing creep about it. Loren kinda sux, but they’re making it work. I hope after watching Andrei yell about moving out of the house next week, they show him applying for jobs so they won’t be living in a cardboard box when they do leave. I won’t hold my breath. -

Right? Andrei can yell at Libby, push her (overbearing) family away, and dictate she is not permitted to go to clubs without him or not answer his calls right away, but I’m supposed to believe Libby is the one keeping him from getting a job as a truck driver? Libby is making him live rent free in one of daddy’s nice rental properties? I’m also not impressed with his 3 months savings. I moved cross country as a single lady to an expensive city with 5 months savings during the recession. The first thing I did when I got to the new city was start looking for work, because I knew that money wouldn’t last long. I damn sure didn’t get pregnant during that time and I didn’t have to financially support anyone but myself. As soon as he had work permits, he needed to find a job if he’s so independent. The way Andrei talked, you’d think he had a year’s salary (US, not Moldova) to live off of. I do agree that Andrei didn’t change overnight. He was a bum then, he’s a bum now. No change there. -

Chantel clearly didn’t know anything about K1 sponsorship obligations if this is really the first time she is hearing this. Neither did her parents if they thought that stupid LegalZoom prenup had any real value. Im not really a Pedro fan, but he’s not a terrible guy. If he leaves Chantel, I don’t see him quitting his jobs so she has to support him. Pedro is not work-shy. I’m guessing he’s making more money than Chantel who is in school/ works for her parents? I see him going back to DR or staying put in Georgia, working, and sending money back to his family. Pedro is not Andrei. -
Right idea, but no money (except for show earnings we’re supposed to ignore - probably still not enough to rent a place, pay bills and pay for having a baby)
-
Smothered... Cher and her mother were on My Super Sweet 16. I recognize that dysfunctional duo anywhere.
