  1. I wonder if he did that because it helped him know when to go in.
  2. I STILL can't believe that Joni Mitchell has never performed at the Grammys in her long, long career. I actually don't live too far from a cafe she performed at before she became famous. The cafe isn't there anymore. It's now a men's clothing store.

    Season 8

Finished the season. Loved the finale, not sure about the one with the former nun. I get that she wanted a full makeover/re-do, but she's crunchy to the core. It's like a full 180 lifestyle.
  4. How did everyone survive the last few days without Primetimer? I finished Queer Eye Season 8. Pretty much it.
  5. I remember going to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat back in the 90s and SOOOO MANY of the moms there were swooning. It made me giggle because I'd never see so many adults act like teenagers. @Caoimhe: In Canada, we typically think of condos = ownership and apartments = rent. But some people rent out units in condo buildings too.
  6. I am about 70% deaf in my left ear (from birth) and was once asked by a teacher who specialized in working with deaf children why I didn't wear a hearing aid in my left ear! Why bother as an adult when I never had one as a kid. I don't want the world to sound like a rock concert or club?
  7. Speaking of eyesight, I had a procedure done at the hospital recently and the nurse connecting my IV said she was worried she didn't connect it properly. She had glasses, but wasn't wearing them. She then said that she needed to glasses only to see far away. Still, she worried me. But it ended up being okay. She also said she has been wearing reading glasses/bifocals since she was 40. That sounds young.
  8. I reconnected with some elementary school friends on Facebook, but we just follow each other. I haven't seen them in person in 30+ years (save for one, and that's because I bumped into her on the street).
  9. I LOVE Brussels sprouts!!! I have a pack of frozen ones in my freezer that I'll heat up with a bit of broth, black pepper and garlic powder.
  10. Did anyone notice that Ed O’Neill said his ancestor, at 17, was just a year older than his daughter when he went off to fight in the Civil War? Ed’s kids are both in their 20s, aren’t they?

    Season 8

Same here. I did wonder how the two managed to stay together. She looks really nice and pre-makeover, Ernest looked, for a lack of a better term, homeless. Great jobs giving him a new look!!
  12. For those of us who are Queer Eye fans: I just added season 8. No clue why it wasn’t up!

    Season 8

Discussion for Season 8. I’m surprised it isn’t up yet!
  14. Flavoured butter definitely comes in individual sticks. I've seen the plant based stuff in sticks too.
  15. The Rideau Canal? That's in Ottawa (our country's capital and where my husband is from), a 4 1/2 hour drive from Toronto!
  16. Kiddo skated for the first time today! He fell a lot, but had an amazing time at his first lesson. And having a friend from school in his section really helped too.
  17. LeVar has two kids, according to Wikipedia. His daughter is an actress (though I've never heard of her).
  18. I was going to do roast chicken for dinner tonight, but it was so cold that I turned it into stew. Then I accidentally dumped half a container of turmeric powder into the chicken and spent part of the time scooping it out so it wouldn't be so...turmericky.....Served it with rice.
  19. My mom trimmed my son's bangs without informing me first. Now he has "nerd hair" for club photos this week! We're going to get it fixed, but not in time for the pics. Why do grandparents - especially IMMIGRANT grandparents - like to overstep like this?
  20. Thank you! But it’s a long road ahead to becoming actually “known.” A library system already turned me down because they’re not looking for books by independently published or small press authors right now. Disappointing since that community has a large East Asian population. A nearby town (similar demos) did ask for a review copy, however. I have also been asked to read it at my son’s school!
  21. Other than drinking ONCE underage, I don't think I've ever rebelled in the bad girl kind of way. Of course, unless you consider strength training a sort of rebellion (my maternal grandmother HATED the idea of women being muscular. If she knew I lifted weights (not even HEAVY ones. We're talking 20 lb at most if I'm not with my trainer), she'd be turning in her grave)...
  22. Yes, Our Three New Years! has been published! Available in hardcover, paperback and e-book formats on Amazon, Indigo, Barnes&Noble and likely some independent bookstores. I know for a fact that it's physically IN at least a small handful of bookstores in Toronto. Not sure about other places, but definitely online at the above mentioned stores.
  23. Ahhh vintage flame wars. I remember being part of those as well. And 20 odd years later, I still haven’t learned to stay away from them.
