  1. I had to laugh when Scheana was talking about the party (where they all wore white) and I said to myself "what, another event? it's not the wedding yet?" And then like the next scene was Lala enumerating all the various events they were supposed to attend. So this wedding weekend is right at the beginning of Tom/Raquel's great love affair and I know, we're all saying we can see things now given what we know, but there were several moments last night where Raquel seemed to be catching Sandoval's eye or secretly smirking about something he was saying or doing. I noted it especially when they called Schwartz over to the table to ask him about his dinner with Katie and tell him to start kissing others. Raquel popped over to the table (as Ariana mentioned in her talking head) and was standing at the corner of the table directly opposite of Sandoval. He was ranting about Katie and whatever else and she for sure caught his eye and gave what looked like that kind of secret smile when you share a private joke with someone else. In general Raquel was certainly feeling herself last night and loving that she was in with the group while Katie was out. And whoa has karma come for her.
  2. He reminds me of high school boys out with their prom dates. The girls are all glammed up in their prom dresses and heels and the boys are in jeans and tennis shoes. Always irks me. As this does.
  3. I agree that that's what the writers are going for, Perry having to give up some of his rigid ideas of right and wrong and grow from his cases. And I love truly honorable characters, not perfect people, but ones who fight for what they think is right and try to do so without harming others. That's how I do see Perry and that's what I think the writers are going for. It just felt like too much wallowing for his own "loss of innocence" when the accused are literally facing death. Some of my response is colored by having been a big fan of the books when I was young. I still have that picture of PM in my head. That version was similarly honorable and willing to fight for what was right, no matter what. He was also a man who was always moving forward, no matter what he thought of his clients guilt or innocence. That said, the books were pulpy legal mysteries that didn't have much character development, something I've loving with this tv series.
  4. I don't mind the delving a bit more into what goes on with Perry and Della when they're not working, but boy was Perry annoying and I just wanted to yell at him to get over himself. He's all wounded and tortured because his clients are "guilty" (I agree they're probably not) and how this affects him. But good lord. Wasn't he his former boss's investigator (the older attorney who died in season one)? As such wouldn't he have seen that attorney handle many cases where his clients weren't lily-pure? Likely as an investigator, he'd have been finding evidence to help the cases for the guilty. So how is this such a big shock to his system? And let's say, as Perry believes, that his clients did kill the guy - which he shouldn't because he did all that measuring of the shot and how it would take an expert marksmen and the Gallardos said they shot him after a struggle, etc. - but let's say they did do it. Even so, they are now facing being hung. So Perry's little pity party about how bad this makes him feel? Not a fan. I did like the bit about the gun and them trying to figure out what to do with it now they've got it. That's vintage Perry Mason from the books. He was constantly skirting (not breaking) the law on things like that and wriggling out of "this is it, I've got you now!" moments from his adversaries. Yeah, I'm guessing the actress was not available. And I don't understand why they didn't just have them broken up off screen? Della is a pretty straightforward person, so I have a hard time believing her acting this way. I actually like the new woman and their chemistry (liked Hazel with her too), just not sold on this as who Della is.
  5. I noted that too. Also that he was the first to hug her when she and her friend "surprised" them at the boys night. I do think it's interesting that Raquel was actually a "heroine" edit this season. Boohoo, everyone's mean to me. Look at poor innocent me, who is just too naive to be doing any of this deliberately. It's only because we know what we know that we're seeing so much more than what she (and the editors at the time) were intending. I would love to get the camera folk and editors drunk or under a truth serum to see if they actually did know before anyone else? Or had an inkling? Some of the confessionals seem very pointed and since we know the producers/cast film many of those much later? I'm wondering if there were suspicions by the editors/producers, thus the direction they took the story.
  6. I didn't get the sense that Della and Perry wouldn't do the work they were getting paid for by Sunny - just that they were perhaps inflating the price. What they were talking about doing for him is work that can be done alongside their work on the Brooks case. I was lost on this one too. Not sure why that happened. Otherwise I really liked the episode. It filled in some blanks we had after episode one (without revealing everything) and set up storyline for the remainder of the season.
  7. This was good. For sure, not a happy viewing, though I did laugh a couple times, but good. I'm intrigued by Costello and Selby individually and as a pair who have a long-time, clearly conflicted, relationship. And I loved the ways in which we are introduced to Costello's relationship to her daughter Iris. Yes, Costello is a mess, but it's clear that she loves her daughter a lot and wants to do her best (even if it's equally clear, that her hold on that determination is likely tenuous at best). I'm in to see where they all go (and getting to know more about Gloria).
  8. As you gear up for Lisa's visit on WWHL tonight, if you haven't watched last night's ep, you might do so. No VR cast but Jerry O'Connell was on and asked about the drama (since he's such a Bravo fan). Don't remember all he said, but he was wearing a Team Ariana shirt and he said that the Toms are children, not men. Immature babies (okay that's my phrasing). I don't always agree with JO, but it did make my heart happy to hear him say it.
  9. Count me in with those who have been obsessively reading anything and everything to do with this. Loving each and every reveal. I think what’s helping is that I didn’t like (could even say hated) Sandoval and Rachel before all this hit. So seeing this mess implode? I’m mean enough to enjoy. Side note: Does SUR really stand for Sexy Unique Restaurant? If I ever knew that fact, I’d long since forgotten. And now seeing it? Blergh. Not sexy and for sure not unique - I will give you restaurant.
  10. Initially it was supposed to be Katie on Wednesday (with some other non-VR person) and I'm bummed it's going to be Lisa instead. Lisa tends to coddle Sandoval like he's a toddler and if you factor in the money motive she has to make sure he is still viable? I think she's going to go the route of being the "disappointed mommy" rather than really letting him have it as Katie would. I'm trying to lower my expectations as I'm thinking I'm going to come away from the viewing more frustrated than anything else. Perhaps I'm wrong, but knowing how Lisa has always just patted them on the head and said "now, now" in the past? Not holding out much hope for it being satisfying. This would indicate that she is following the PR plan that was leaked a couple days ago. That plan had her being the victim, so here she goes.
  11. The fact that it's been going on for months is what makes this one different than all the other "he/she cheated" drama we've seen on this show. Not the biggest Ariana fan, but if she considered herself to still be in a committed relationship with Tom and he knew that, then there is literally no defense for his behavior. None. If he fell in love with Rachel/Raquel (gag), then all he had to do is say so to Ariana. A drunken fling can be got past, by the couple and by fans, and has been several times by members of this cast, but seven months? All while you're spending time with the girlfriend as a couple? That's a level of narcissistic hubris we have not seen. I hope this puts paid to Sandoval as the "hero" of the franchise, and that may happen in the short term. But in the long term? I fear, even as bad as it is; Lisa, Andy, producers, etc all have money in this. So if they decide he's to be rehabilitated? It will happen. We'll get tear-filled confessionals from him and Raquel. We'll get editing that will make Ariana look like the problem. Etc.
  12. I have always disliked (at times, hated) both Sandoval and Schwartz, as I think they skate on so many things - as men generally do on these shows (VR, Southern Charm, Summer House, etc). The women have always taken the brunt of the blame in any of the situations that arise. And though Ariana hasn't always been my cup of tea with her "cool girl" branding, I have appreciated how she acts like an adult person in most situations. All this to say, I do really hope that this sticks to Sandoval this time around and I hope that Ariana and Katie are wildly successful in whatever they do.
  13. So, according to James, it’s been going on for months and worse. And if true, it means all the Schwartz stuff was a front.
  14. I have been loving the outfitting - but do have to wonder a bit about all these capes and sweaters, and coats, etc. in Georgia? I know they have a "winter" season, but I'll be looking to see if we ever see summer clothing (which is about 9-10 months out of the year in Georgia) on this cast.
