Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"
nokat replied to Betweenyouandme's topic in Everything Else
The tiny use by date on products. I wanted to use milk, and ended up changing my readers and holding it up to the brightest light. I finally ended up doing the the look, sniff, and taste test. I didn't gag, so I guess it was okay. The tiny print on things in general. -
I'm a fan of fresh fruit and vegetables. We have a community garden here that I volunteer for, and it has been getting harvested. I ate a lot of radishes, and we have lots of things that will be ripe soon. Doing some weeding and watering makes the food taste all the better.

I have fond memories of eating watermelon and seeing who could spit the seeds the farthest. An indoor party, it wouldn't go over so well. :D

The sandwiches sound good to me. Ah, the golden child that takes precedence.

I like your attitude.

I had a few lonely holidays. I try to not have them as much. Crowds of people, no thank you. A few people I like, yes.

Prime isn't the deal it used to be. -

May I bring up how many people mispronounce my name. I realize it and get to whatever I'm doing. It is pronounced many ways. I was just at an event, and people were trying to correct pronunciation. I think my name is not that difficult. -

It's perfectly fine. It's processed closer to the farms, usually. The best is local, but it isn't always practical. -

I'm a sucker for grilled onions and peppers on a piece of sausage while I walk the fairgrounds. I want my unhealthy fair food. My peeve is how much sodium is in prepared food. I buy low sodium if I can, and make my own with a lot lower salt. I swear it about gags me at times when I go out to eat with friends. So much salt in food. -
I have an issue with Jono too. He could ask if it is a preference or something serious. I've brought food to a restaurant just to be sure, and they haven't had a problem with it. I have a few things I can't eat, but so much more that I can. I wouldn't want to hinder someone else's experience because I'm not able to indulge. I feel this way about some guests, that everyone must adhere to their latest food fad.

There is a huge difference between an allergy and disliking a food. You don't like seafood, so here is chicken. I'm allergic to shellfish, but I love fish, so I would be happy with that. I'd also travel with benedryl and an epi pen. There is no way that tiny kitchen could be in control of gluten or other special dietary requirements.

As was lobster and brisket. Call me poor if I eat either one. This one pisses me off. Poor people make food taste good, and suddenly the cuts aren't as cheap.

I'm used to photoshop on windows. I also use an Android phone. I find both easy enough. I did smile at WYSIWYG, because a lot of software developers used that.

Why Grammar Matters: A Place To Discuss Matters Of Grammar
nokat replied to candall's topic in Everything Else
How I speak changes depending on the context. If someone is yelling down the parking lot at me, I'll say me and Ed are shopping for flowers. (I don't know who Ed is, or why we're shopping for flowers.) Casual conversation versus sounding educated. -
I think I will hate watch this.

Why Grammar Matters: A Place To Discuss Matters Of Grammar

I see this so frequently on forums and just in use in general. Less is for things you can't count, although I guess you could if really determined. I think we lost that war, as well as the one for loose for lose, and regime for regimen. My brain hurts when I see someone write "reign it in."- 4.5k replies

When I first started watching, I was a bit put off by Barbie bragging about how she was so privileged and her Dad took care of her and she only worked to buy the designer bags and shoes. I ended up liking her. She does have a good work ethic, and did well with tablescapes. As for Kyle, I'm not personally offended by nudity, but I'd be mortified if I was with someone who flashed their nethers in public. He was also blackout drunk, which is never attractive.

@Yeah No If I get sick that extra weight drops fast. I always worry about that. A male friend is a stick after undergoing chemo. I'm sorry about your father. I do stress eating too. I'm doing the lose then gain it back dance too. -

I didn't start to gain until covid hit. I was in my fifties and more sedentary afterwards. I was post menopausal in my late forties. Yes, the bad fat gathers around organs. As women, it's not horrible to have some extra in your hips. I like to be active. Once you stop it gets harder to get back. -

I actually do strength training after I walk. My blood work tells me I'm okay, as is my heart rate and blood pressure. Many of us gain a few pounds after menopause. I'm just not liking it. -
This gave me a giggle. I was looking at groceries online, and there was the suggested products up top. Taco ingredients and then a huge pack of toilet paper. Sounds about right. 😄 They might have been thinking about Taco Bell.

People say this to those in the military, but I'm saying it to you. Thank you for your service. I've loved libraries since I was very young. I loved to sit in the library to study in college. I still have a library card, and am lucky to have a well funded library available.

I looked outside to see if I want to go for a walk, and heard thunder. I think I'll stay inside.💨

I preferred four ten hour days. I'm there already, so an extra couple of hours. Commute time is a big part of the day anyway. Studies have shown the same amount of work gets done with fewer hours.
