Why Grammar Matters: A Place To Discuss Matters Of Grammar
SuprSuprElevated replied to candall's topic in Everything Else
I hope this is okay to post. It's an episode of Barney Miller featuring an NYU (I think) English professor who was arrested for destroying an advrtisement on a public conveyance, because of the assault to the language. It's less than 30 minutes if you can spare it, and good for a laugh or three. -

Though younger than many/most, she is a classic victim of two people; herself and Andy Cohen. Debate could be had on which should get top billing. I know that AC isn't as influential (if at all) in the programming as he once was, but I still see him as a villain.

Yeah, the only thing more ridiculous than her Madame Tussaud's skincare regimen, is the notion that she gives two fux about any of these 30/40-somethings, or they about her. The relationships go about as deep as the butter on their bread. 😉

I thought that was laughable as well, but technically, she is a single mom, with the loosest of definitions.

Which again, will ruin the entire concept/opportunity. The folks that already have trust issues or are control freaks, don't like wfh to begin with. Exampls such as ^this will only reinforce their resistance to it. -
Not a bad idea, but sometimes I welcome not having to wrangle two squallering kitkats into and out of the car and the vet, lol.

You mentioned ^upthread that Cavendish's sibling (sorry, horrible with name retention) hissed when you brought him home. I was going to comment that mine have often done that when only one went to the vet. I think it's a combination of foreign smells, bad memories, and fear. 🙀

S08.E01: Great Ex-pectations
SuprSuprElevated replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in Southern Charm
Okay, I put the pipe down, and realized that I confused a different episode (was watching previous season I guess, prior to new S8/1), and that is where I saw Dani. This is the episode where Madison had the weird island sand party, which was supposd to be Austen's bday, had they not 'broken up'. Mea culpa. -

Dani was definitely in this first episode, looking painfully thin. Don't you remember her whining about Kathryn, nearly in tears (the apparent sole purpose of the Dani character), on the boat to the sand party and a few other scenes? You all may be thinking about K's other (former) friend, the one who gave birth a couple seasons in, and her son was very ill? Can't recall her name. -

Well, fair enough, but this testing isn't really an interview per se, but a skills/knowledge evaluation. I still belive that even with ^these requirements, it sounds like the hiring process has gotten out of hand. -

Perhaps recruiters/HR folks would disagree, but I cannot fathom why one would need more than two interviews to make a decision about a given candidate (coupled with any obvious background/reference checking ((as if)), etc. I too, having been self-employed for the 17 years prior to having to become a family caregiver for most of the past 10 years, never dealt with the nonsense you here describe. I truly fear the outcome when the day arrives that I will attempt to re-enter the workforce. I will be the proverbial deer in headlights. 😳 -
