  1. Re Gabby and Christian's gf. It seems to me that whatever the truth may be, Gabby would never want to admit that truth. If you put yourself into her place, would you ever want to admit that you were jealous of Christian's gf and turned against him for that reason? I think Gabby is plenty smart enough to know that would make her look bad and so she would not admit to that - regardless whether it's true or not. If the truth was that she was angry at Christian for not telling her about his gf, once again, if you were Gabby, would you want to admit that was the truth? I don't think so. I have no idea what the truth may be and I couldn't even guess. But I have said and done things in the past that would would cause me to be deeply embarrassed if I ever admitted doing those things. So I think Gabby decided it would be in her best interest to just withhold the truth - regardless of what that may be. After all, she is under no obligation to admit to anything and I think it's in her best interest to just remain silent if and when she is asked something that she believes that answering would embarrass her.
  2. I have a theory about that because as you intimate - it happens all the time. I would propose that after someone experiences a few different relationships, all they really want is someone who doesn't drive them crazy. If you want to be cherished and pursued relentlessly by the opposite gender, just be polite to them and don't drive them crazy. That's all it takes beyond the basics (like bathing regularly and good grooming and reasonable clothing). If you will just do that, I believe you will become a big hit with the opposite gender. I was a total bust with ladies until I put that into practice and I couldn't believe all the highly attractive women that began pursuing me. Honest! But all of them just drove me crazy. Weren't you wondering how that happened?
  3. Christian's move of looking at each person before deciding to play his idol may not have had a huge value. But just so long as one of those people would get nervous and display some kind of "tell" or "tick", it could pay of very well. IMHO, it was a very clever thing for Christian to do because one of those people may have not expected it and with all the TV cameras there and the need to keep secrets and a few other factors, it would have been easy for one of them to avert their eyes when they had not done that before and given Christian a clue that he better play the idol. And that is exactly what happened. I think it was a great move because it had zero downside risk. I mean, was there something bad for him to do this? Did it cost him anything? No. It was an extra free chance he had and he took it and it paid off for him. It was a clever tactic.
  4. Re Nick and Davey. After tonight's events, I have come to the conclusion that Davey is a much better player than Nick and I would love to see Davey win the season.
  5. I don't believe they really did. I belive Mike is an opportunist and when the situation presented itself, Ang figured she could get some advantage for herself by cozying up to Mike and making him think she was his new best friend. But I doubt Mike was fooled. I think he would have understood exactly what she was doing and he was smart enough to know that if she wanted to throw her alleged support at him, he was not going to turn her down. He would play along as long as he felt it was to his advantage. Mike is not a particularly good player. But he is a very clever man. Clever enough to be able to come out on top when a situation does not involve more than just 2 or 3 people. IMHO, Mike doesn't seem to be able to control a group of people very well. But he can easily understand what's going on with just one or two other people and he knows how to manage that kind of scenario.
  6. I don't believe it had anything to do with Gabby. I don't believe she was jealous. I believe the freaking editors were just doing their job and tried to invent some jealousy where none existed because it was very easy to do that and it would be very believable among the audience. But I don't believe it was real. Not for a second. I think the editors were just flexing their muscles - either because they were told to do so or because it was an easy way for them to impact the audience.
  7. It seems to me they are showing the loved ones less and less. Jeffy spent less than 30 seconds talking with each of the loved ones. We didn't see any of their reward together. That was very different from past seasons. I believe there must be a reason for that and it's kind of fun to speculate what that reason might be. But if I want to do that, I'll go to the Speculation thread. Whenever someone uses the term "maroon", a few people usually have never heard of that before. I believe it originated in some Bugs Bunny cartoon in which Bugs was trying to be a wise guy and he wanted to say "moron" but for some reason decided to say "maroon" instead. I always thought it was because it sounded more insulting with his Brooklyn accent. Maybe TPTB didn't want to use the word "moron" because they felt that it might have been politically incorrect at the time (in the 1940s).
  8. She said something about how it was perfect that Christian believed they were voting out Allison. So long as he believed that he would not have to waste his idol. I guess she figured he wanted to keep the idol more than he wanted to risk being voted out.
  9. Have you seen the mid-season interview that Gabby did in The Hollywood Reporter here: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/survivor-david-goliath-gabby-crying-drama-carl-blindside-more-1165698 I would give credit to the person who first posted the above link. But the interview was so good that many people have now posted it and I have no idea who posted it first. At any rate, if you haven't yet seen it, I'd like to recommend it to you. Gabby comes across as an extremely well-spoken and very intelligent lady. Seems to me that she knows and understands more about playing this game than most anyone and if only intelligence and knowledge will translate into winning the season (unfortunately it doesn't always work out that way), Gabby should have a real good chance to win this season. This interview makes it real clear that she feels her crying is in no way a sign of weakness. But instead it is a great source of comfort and strength for her. If you think about the plumbing in your home, if you clean it out (with a good cry) periodically, then it will be ready and able to handle you flushing all manner of stuff away with not problem. So, I would think that Gabby is fully flushed now and ready for the 2nd half of this season. I wish her all the best of luck and I sure do hope she wins. If not Gabby then at least someone who has been kind to her. You go Gabby! Show them how it's done. Show them all! ETA: Her crying is also a great source of strength in another way. I think it causes most everyone to under-estimate her. They may think of her as, "that poor unfortunate girl cries because she misses her family back home. But they fail to see she's as smart as a whip and when the time is right, they never see the lash of her whip when she makes her move and decapitates them (like she did to Carl). Ain't she just wonderful?
  10. Thank you for posting that interview. It was great. I keep feeling mystified how so many people here find all these great forums and I never do. Could you please tell us how you found that interview? More to the point, can you advise me how I can find those kinds of interviews. I asked someone else who told me to check the CBS site. I will add the Hollywood Reporter site now. But adding one site at a time seems like such a slow process.
  11. I wish to speculate that Davey will be the next player to get voted out. I have no solid reason for this pick. It's really just a guess. If I'm correct, I'll explain how I came to this conclusion after E11 is broadcast. But for the present, I think it will be best to say nothing more. Oops. I'm sorry but I made a mistake. I forgot about Kara. I have to change my speculation. Not Davey but Kara. Phew. Only 12 hours to go. I'm glad I got this in in time.
  12. All things considered, I just flat out love Gabby. I think I will love her until the day I die and anything she wants to do will be just A-OK with me. Gabby? Cry me a river if you like or do not cry at all if you like. I will be happy if I can just marvel at your beautiful ears. I fell in love with you the instant I first laid eyes on those ears. They are God's finest creation - the pinnacle of His wondrous abilities. Of course, those ears are only a tiny reason for the way I feel about you. When I heard you say, "We must take agency in this game", and later "...... even more cognizant of the fact ......", I fell right off my chair. I mean, who uses language like that besides me and some of the other eggheads here? That was it! The issue was settled for me. Not only are you cute as a button, but you are also smart as a whip. Tell me though, how do you feel about cliches? How's about bad jokes? OK. I better go now. ETA: There is a great mid-season interview of Gabby here: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/survivor-david-goliath-gabby-crying-drama-carl-blindside-more-1165698
  13. I will send you a PM (Private Message) with the two nicknames. I just want to clarify something with you however and that is, "Most everything that I put into quotations in my post about the movie "I Am Ali", was spoken by Muhammad Ali and I'd also like to clarify that during that press conference (if it was indeed a press conference), everyone who attended seemed to love Ali and was laughing along with him. In fact for almost his entire life, the whole world seemed to love him and enjoyed hearing what he had to say and thought very highly of him. The point was made over and over again by most everyone (including almost all of the most important people and dignitaries in the world at that time) that Ali was a stellar individual. - one of the most loved human beings who ever lived. No one ever seemed to suggest that he behaved in a racist manner or any kind of improper manner - unless maybe you were fighting him in a boxing ring). Indeed the point was made many times that Ali loved people of all races. His Headstone could easily have read "A Lover of All People". He did not hate white people or any people of any race. It seemed to me that at the time he was alive, almost everyone in the whole world believed Ali was one of the greatest human beings ever. I certainly did. It was Ali who made the reference to "Mary had a Little Lamb" and I think he was suggesting that poem was used to brainwash people. He said "black people" but I think you might want to see that clip for yourself. I don't know for certain but I would guess it would not be too difficult to find it somewhere on Youtube. I'm not very experienced searching for movies or movie clips on Youtube. But maybe some kind and gentle soul could find it for us and post it here? Umm .... Mike White? Violet and Green called you a "gentle soul". Are you listening? Could you find that movie clip for us and post a link? Or maybe someone else could? OK Mark. I'm gonna send you that PM now. Oh ...... wait! wait! wait! I know what to do! I know what to do! I know what to do! I'll ask Angelina! Angelina? Are you listening? Could you find that clip? Angelina? Angelina? Angelina? .......
  14. Is it worth making a list of all the seasons and abbreviations that define their names? For example: HvV - Heroes vs Villians I know that "B vs W" prob means "Blood vs Water" Here is the Wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Survivor_(U.S._TV_series) It shows Season 35 as Heroes v Hustlers v Healers - I will now enter all the ones that look correct. 15. Perfectly understandable. Many other people feel exactly the same way. Except not everyone hates Christian. In my case, the hated one is Angelina. I wonder. I'm thinking of introducing a new name to call her. But this forum is just so darned polite and respectable. I fear it would be inappropriate to call any of the players by a mean and nasty nickname. I have two great names in mind for her. I can hardly contain myself and resist posting them. Sigh. Hmm .... what would you think about starting a hate thread? Would that be permitted on this board?
  16. I did criticize her. I criticized her because I believe she was being dishonest. I think she was trying to say that she deserved praise and recognition because she negotiated with Jeff for rice and she sacrificed her chance at immunity so the others could have rice to eat. I believe you are entirely correct that she did that to get jury votes. But she made only the most glancing remarks about her negotiation and her sacrifice because that was not what they were talking about. IMO, she tried to "slip one past the others" and I think that reeked of dishonesty. She didn't come right out and admit what she was trying to do. She subverted the discussion and only mentioned herself in the most "offhand" manner. She said she didn't want to "make a big deal" about her negotiation and sacrifice. But she did that while she was making a big deal about her negotiation and sacrifice. (although to the best of my recollection, she did that shortly before the TC - not at the TC). Bottom line? I despise this entitled brat and I fear she might actually win this game by "bamboozling" the others into believing that she is a great player and a great humanitarian when the truth is that she is an entitled brat who freaks out when she doesn't get her way and tries all kinds of trickery to try to bamboozle the others into believing the B.S. she is selling. But to be honest, I sure do hope the odds of her succeeding in her "Big Bamboozle" are close to zero. Thank goodness she will never bamboozle Allison. Allison sees right through her. She has Angelina nailed dead to rights.
  17. If Ang should make it to the FTC, I just hope Alison is also there because I think Alison could eviscerate any and all of Ang's B.S. better than most anyone - except maybe Chris. Chris seems to do a great job of speaking when he has time to prepare what he's going to say. I don't think I've seen enough of him speaking in response to someone else taking an argumentative stance against him. But I think I've seen a little of that. Remember when he said something to Ang about "I just wanted to make sure that was what you were saying." The other person who I think could do a real good job in revealing Ang as a selfish and entitled "brat" would be Gabby. I couldn't hardly believe my ears when she said words to the effect, "We must take some agency in this game." Wow! Who speaks like that? She spoke like she was the President or Prime Minister of some country. She spoke as if she had an IQ of 200 or more. Wow! Maybe I just get easily impressed. But that language just knocked me off my chair. I certainly never expected that. I sure hope that Gabby will not betray Chris. It's very unlikely that she will - considering where it was we saw that. But even if she should try, I would hope most people would side with Chris over Gabby. This may be some strange talk for someone who has always professed their love for Gabby. But there is a limit to everything and if you have loved a spouse for many years and all of a sudden, they start beating you, you have to withdraw your love and send them to prison or send them for treatment - whichever is applicable. No one can afford to keep enabling someone who is beating on them. Forget about it! I would just hope that what we saw was part of some elaborate deception where Gabby is lashing out at someone else who is trying to get her out and that it backfires and Christian and Gabby live happily ever after. Oh Lord! Please allow Christian and Gabby to realize they were made for each other and to get married and live happily ever after and raise lots of great Americans with big ears and big brains. Amen.
  18. You may recall, during the TC where Alec was voted out, Christian was speaking about "Calculated Risk" when Angelina spoke up about "Calculated Decisions". Since Ang has talked about her areas of study at Yale, I wanted to see just how much she really knew about these scientific areas of study. So, for anyone who may be interested ...... I Googled "wiki calculated decisions" and there was not a single entry for the phrase "calculated decisions". In fact, it looks like the phrase "calculated decisions" was replaced throughout the Google text by the phrase "Optimal Decision" which may be some recognized topic or field of study. When I searched for "calculated decisions" (instead of "wiki calculated decisions", there were several entries. But none of them seemed to be referring to any existing field of study. Most of them appeared to reference the ordinary English language as in, "I made an ordinary decision but someone else did some calculations which helped them make a better decision because it was a calculated decision. I tried to find scientific terms in Wikipedia first because I find that ordinary people contribute more articles to Wikipidea than do professionals. I'm not certain why. Perhaps it's because professionals expect to get paid for their articles. Bottom line? I don't believe Angelina was referring to some formal or well-known field of study called "Calculated Decisions". Christian had used the term "Calculated Risk" and maybe Angelina forgot exactly what he said and used the term "Calculated Decision" because it was the closest she could come to "Calculated Risk". IMO, the main point is that Angelina was trying to take the spotlight off Christian and put it onto herself. She is still angry about how she was ignored when she suggested voting off Jeremy and her group voted off Jessica, but when another man made the same suggestion a few days later, her group went along with him. I believe she remains furious about that and in some warped way, she keeps trying to take the spotlight off other people and put it onto herself. It's as if she keeps calling out, "Christian isn't the only one who can use big words, I can use them too (Salient). Chris isn't the only one who knows about scientific terms. I know about them too. I went to Yale. YALE! or was it Stanford? STANFORD! You all listen to him instead of me because he's a male and I'm a female. But it's like Carl says, "It's just that simple!" In a very cunning way (but also a very transparent way), she kept trying to put the spotlight on herself because she made some great negotiation with Jeff and she sacrificed her chance for immunity so the other people could have rice. More than once she said she did not want to make a big deal out of her sacrifice and her negotiation. But did you notice that she said this while she was making a big deal out of her sacrifice and her negotiation?
  19. Deleted. Sorry. Posted in the wrong forum.
  20. Excuse me for snipping so much of your post but I wanted to focus on that single sentence so I could say: PERFECTO! IMHO, you summarized their mindset perfectly. Can you please tell us what is your special power that enables you to get inside other peoples' minds. I believe this is the 3rd time I've seen you do that. It is very impressive. But it's also a little scary. (just kidding - it's not really scary - but it really is impressive)
  21. I just re-watched this episode and focused on Angelina. There was one aspect of her behavior that I thought best defines her personality. Please allow me to first set the stage. It was during the first TC (where Alec was about to be voted out). Christian had just commented how everything in the game was a "calculated risk". Then Angelina spoke up saying, "You know what, Jeff? I think the concept of "calculated decisions" is really salient right now. Everything is done with intention. You know, should I get this food and am I feeling in a good place with the people that say they trust me and who I say that I trust and that was something that was part of my calculation as well." Remember how she had previously complained about how she had originally suggested the idea that someone should be voted out but no one paid any attention to the idea when she suggested it. But then, a few days later, one of the men (call him Mr. Z.) suggested the very same idea and everyone immediately agreed to do it and praised Mr. Z. for having come up with such a good idea. Angelina was really pissed off about this because it was originally her idea and no one paid any attention when she suggested it but a few days later when Mr. Z suggested the very same idea, everyone acted as if that was the very first time they had ever heard that idea. Well, IMO, everything she said during the TC about "calculated decision" was just a cover for what she really wanted to say. When she said,"and that was something that was part of my calculation as well.", I got a vision that what she was really saying was, "You are going to give Christian credit for using this advanced phrase "calculated risk" and so I'm going to use the same phrase to show that when I made my "sacrifice" for the team, I did the same thing that Christian did. I don't want you all to think that a man used this brilliant concept but a girl didn't. So I'm making sure that I rub your faces in the fact that Cristian wasn't the only one who used that big concept. I used it as well and don't you all forget that. I am just as good as a man is. Also, I want to rub your faces in the fact that I can use a big word too - like SALIENT The following is my interpretation of what Angelina really wanted to say but felt she couldn't and so instead, she said that nonsense about "calculated decisions".
  22. I just re-watched Episode 10 and focused on Angelina. You know, should I get this food and am I feeling in a good place with the people that say they trust me and who I say that I trust and that was something that was part of my calculation as well." At first, I thought she was just trying to show off by using a big word - salient. But no. That wasn't it. I put the definition of salient in the spoiler box below. Remember how she had previously complained when she had originally suggested the idea that someone should be voted out but no one paid any attention to the idea when she suggested it. But then, a few days later, one of the men (call him Mr. Z.) suggested the very same idea and everyone immediately agreed to do it and praised Mr. Z. for having come up with such a good idea. Well, IMO, everything she said during the TC about "calculated decision" was just a cover for what she really wanted to say. Please allow me to present a paragraph of theater showing what Angelina really wanted to say but felt she couldn't and so she said that nonsense about "calculated decisions" instead.
  23. I just woke up after having a terrible nightmare. I dreamed that this episode started a new tradition and from now on, every time someone is voted out, one or more other people will chime in unison, "BING!"
