  1. "We're a team, you and me. Simpatico to the point of spooky."
  2. Loved that Prisencolinensinainciusol with Ray and Nikki walking into the bridge games. Adriano Celentano performing I'm wondering if Heart's 1976 classic "Crazy On You" relates to the year Ray got the Corvette. Pic of a 1976 Vette:
  3. After a re-watch I'm feeling a bit more positive about the show. Standouts are Nikki Swango, by Mary Elizabeth Winstead. She's the very definition of confidence as opposed to Ray who just radiates low self-esteem with his beater Corvette, comb-over, shifty eyes and general hostility. Why she's with him is another mystery, although it could be love, I suspect dating your parole officer has some advantages. (NSFW pic below) I love this guy Varga who could use some dental attention.
  4. I'm thinking that may remain a mystery, like Lorne Malvo disappearing from the basement.
  5. It's early yet, but a few thoughts on the opener - So far it just doesn't feel as connected to the Fargo-verse as the past two seasons. "Crazy On You" in 2010, really? I loved all the winks to No Country (among others) last year, but this one I can't place. If it's not a nod, I don't get it. Michael Stuhlbarg for Best (not necessarily authentic) Fargo accent. I like Carrie Coon, but she's no Marge Gunderson. I just hope Hawley's "Legion" hasn't diminished Fargo. Rare that someone can do two successful shows concurrently..
  6. Mostly I just kept thinking about how glad I am that Fargo is back. I do love that P & E are mainly being used for sex and not really in a position to manipulate their targets.
  7. I'm not sure Matt is being entirely forthcoming, but admittedly Kevin's "No one likes handing out pamphlets more than you." is less than compelling evidence.
  8. Warren Jeffs just blames everyone else when his doomsday predictions come and go without incident.
  9. Did anyone else think that the first woman looked liked Nora too? I thought it could be her in middle age, until the older Nora turned around.
  10. Gary Busey as a big balloon, Kevin the Unkillable... This show is so crazy, I love it! I don't know what the hell is going on, but I don't really care!
  11. Speaking of Garcia, I just found out he's played by Javier Bardem's brother, Carlos. Another highlight was thinking McCullough was really scalping that guy in the restaurant.
  12. Update: May 5 th on Netflix for US viewers, according to this - Binge begins May 5 for Last Kingdom in US
  13. I didn't even realize it was the season finale until I read your reply! They can't stop now, we haven't even seen the big four jamming. Too much time spent on Marion? I don't know what the ratings were like but I sure hope it comes back.
  14. The Peabody Hotel ducks! Still performing twice daily. lol
  15. Yikes is right. I used to think Phillip had some redeeming qualities, but walking his own daughter into Gabriel's lair was chilling. Some see him as "family", but I can't think of a single conversation that didn't relate to what they're there to do, bottom line. They may even be offering her up as a way to boost their own standing, whether they realize it or not.
  16. Have only seen the first episode so far, but I'm hooked. The story seems a bit worn and cliched - hard-bitten family patriarch, the "raised by Indians" trope, but it's well acted and beautifully shot in the state of Texas. I like the time-toggling and including Comanches and Mexican-Americans in the main cast. Great seeing Zahn McLarnon and some new faces as well.
  17. I've only read non-fictional accounts of captives, and they're almost always females. I think it was the Texas Rangers, or perhaps before they called such, that inspected Comanche camps and reported on this. From what I understand men and boys would be killed outright in an attack, but girls were more valuable, easier to control, and could be ransomed or traded. Here it's the opposite - the females were killed and the boys were taken.. but for what purpose?
  18. I agree with this for the most part. I guess it's because she seems to swallow whatever they tell her that makes her seem needy to me. Sure, she questions them, but rather lamely. She has zero girlfriends and few outside interests. The only way I can tolerate much more of her is if she started asking some hard, intelligent questions. Creepiest scene of the episode was her parents taking her to meet Gabriel.
  19. I'm fixin' to watch the first two episodes on AMC (no login required) and will return with some thoughts. I do enjoy a good western in my lineup. http://www.amc.com/shows/the-son
  20. I don't see Henry as a good candidate for recruitment at all. Paige is rather pathetic and needy, but Henry seems to have much less connection with the family and probably wouldn't notice if they left for a week. I keep waiting for some suspense in this show. Perhaps they're saving it for next season.
  21. Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about this proposed collaboration. I've pretty much accepted that TD #1 was lightning in a bottle that will never be captured again, but of course I'll watch if anything comes of it.
  22. Many successful series start off based on books but come into their own in a visual medium, and the book becomes less important. I feel like they've barely scratched the surface with these characters and I'd love to see what the writers come up with next. Even if others can't commit, I think Reese Witherspoon's Maddie could easily carry the show. All I know is I won't be paying HBO to see Will Ferrell in another comedy, Ballers 2, or whatever else they've got in development.
