  1. I often wondered what it was about her that impressed me so. It wasn't just the clothes, because everyone was dressed up. She could have looked like a witch, but it didn't matter, she just had this amazing presence or charisma, almost like an aura about her that took my breath away. Whatever that is, she had it in spades even then. Hitchcock, not so much. ;)
  2. Gosh, I should thank some people. I'm just so bad at remembering names. - Marilyn Monroe I've got great tits too, but I don't throw them in everyone's face! - Joan
  3. One of my earliest childhood memories is of seeing Bette Davis in a restaurant near Santa Rosa, CA. I was too young (4?) to know or be impressed by who she was, but still vividly recall her walking by our table and just being blown away by this force of nature. I don't recall her face, though she had to be pretty old, but was dressed to the nines in brilliant blue sequins. I'd never experienced anything like it, and was sure she was "a queen". My mother was more excited by the fat guy at the table she was with, Hitchcock. I still don't know why they were there together, but just thought I'd share my brief brush with greatness.
  4. I agree that the lingering look itself didn't come off as lustful. It was pretty neutral, and could have been anything. But its placement along with Abby's plummeting grades and wish to move out makes me wonder.
  5. Being fed such thin slices of their lives is delightful yet frustrating. If Ed isn't lusting after her, then I think they're actively misdirecting based on the transition, which perhaps can be meaningful. Like this one, that went from Perry & Celeste talking about their dirty secret sex to Renata getting banged in the office.
  6. Last week I didn't see Ed as a problem, but I'm beginning to think there may be something to his lusting after Abby. Especially since they cut to this scene immediately after hearing "Some of the men were staring. I saw erections." Yay or nay?
  7. I can't play Elvis's grandmother, I won't do it. - Joan So what brings you crawling back to Hollywood? Another guest shot on Wagon Train? - Bette to ex-husband Her unemployment is my long-simmering revenge. - Jack Warner about Davis I ran into the gardners outside, they want to know when they'll get paid. We owe them two months. - Mamacita And what did you tell them? That it was an honor to prune Miss Crawford's bush and to shut up.
  8. He kinda blew that right away by admitting he gets physical. Loving the music, but 1st graders digging Fleetwood Mac? I wish.
  9. Yeah, I'm loving the show but this I almost have to laugh. Even the therapist was like ' Dude have you looked in a mirror?' I'm just not buying it.
  10. This is true, I forgot they changed the law last year. There's no minimum age, and they don't even need a doctor's prescription. Any drugstore with a pharmacist will sell them over-the-counter, so to speak.
  11. I can understand not buying your kid a car at sixteen. My parents didn't, but I wanted that license regardless. It was like the first official step to becoming an adult in my mind. I'm assuming she's sixteen, since I believe that's the legal age for obtaining birth control without parental consent.
  12. I heard a couple of Hank Williams songs. Not a Sun artist, but his 'Honky Tonkin' and 'Move It On Over' of 1947 were certainly major contributors to rock and roll. Agreed about the "Elvis, stay out of the colored church!" storyline - enough already. And just how naive is Mrs. Phillips supposed to be? She's very sweet, but this is beyond the pale. I'd be wondering what exactly Marion does at Sun Records that's so essential to Sam.
  13. I wonder why Abigail isn't driving herself around at sixteen? I was down at the DMV on my birthday.
  14. According to her great-great grandson she was indeed "quite infatuated" with him. First of a two-part documentary in which Prince Michael of Kent traces the story of the idyllic love match between his great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria, and Prince Albert of Saxe-Coberg.Shot at various locations including Windsor, Balmoral and Sandringham, the film charts both the private and public lives of Victoria and Albert.
  15. I believe this will launch FX into the Sunday night lineup. I watch FX more than HBO, but previously their shows have all aired on week nights. Can't wait!
  16. Some type of ligature was my first thought as well. Evil Twins is such a trope but with their parents it wouldn't surprise me if they did it. Amabella could be too frightened of them to tell.
  17. Series One has been on Netflix since July. Apparently BBCAmerica pulled out of the show, which caused Netflix to get involved. According to http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2016-06-09/the-last-kingdom-series-two-will-be-co-produced-by-bbc2-and-netflix "Series two of The Last Kingdom will premiere in 2017 on BBC2 in the UK and on Netflix outside of the UK."
  18. Thanks for the background on Drake. No wonder he's especially good as young Elvis! And "Elvi" as the plural is a hoot.
  19. Watch for it coming on Netflix next month (March)!
  20. This episode turned up the heat but didn't really advance the story much. I still enjoyed it though. That private elementary school leaves a lot to be desired. Now we have the teacher planning some family tree project for the kids, which should ramp up Ziggy's anxiety and anyone else from a non-traditional family. What's next, DNA swabs run through CODIS?
  21. A few more screenshots. Johnny Cash, Colonel Parker with Eddy Arnold, and apparently Phillips' favorite lunch, bologna & Velveeta! I guess we'll see The Killer later on.
  22. I really liked it. It held my attention and the hour went by fast. They had to pack a lot into one hour, and most of the main players I'm familiar with, except for Sam Phillips, so it should be interesting. I knew he started Sun, but that's about it. The actors I'm totally unfamiliar with, but I thought they did a great job. Love the 50's look, the clothes and the cars.
  23. Huge fan of Martha here, and of the actress Alison Wright. Sorry to see her go, but the good news is she will be in the new series "Feud" also on FX, about Betty Davis and Joan Crawford.
  24. No, you weren't imagining it. I wonder who the mystery man is...
