  1. I loved the game where all of their lines had to be text messages from the cell phone they were holding. I really hope they play that again.
  2. I remember when it was promoted as celebrity week and it was awesome because it was people who could hold their own with the regulars and actually participate as full members. I think the guests were Robin Williams, Sid Ceasar, Whoppi Goldberg, Richard Simmons, and someone else.
  3. I love all of these games. I wish they would play them again. The current U.S version repeats games too often. They could even work the guest star into some of these games. The Broadway song could be about the guest star. Also, while two of the main cast are singing the fake theme song, the guest star could be one of the people acting it out.
  4. I agree. The celebrity guest is a waste. I'm sure CW agreed to produce the show in exchange for getting another place to promote CW original shows, but it's wearing thin. I love these ideas. It would give us more time with the players we care about and still give CW a chance to promote their shows. I think the celebrity guest would also be good in sound effects. I like the game where they have celebrity in the scene, but someone else doing the voice. I wish they played that game more often. Here are the games I wish they would bring back/play more often: Super Heroes Sound Effects Mission Not That Impossible Greatest Hits Party Quirks Sitting, Standing, Lying Down Also, there's a game I've never them play but would love to watch. It's called celebrity cafe. Each performer has been assigned a celebrity, but the catch is that the performer knows who the other three people are, but not who he or she is, so he or she has to figure out who he or she is.
  5. I actually think that would be fantastic. There's tons of funny stuff involved with wedding planning. The best part about watching them spend a season planning a big, crazy, fancy, wedding is seeing it all go wrong.
  6. I loved the call back to the first episode. One of the first things we saw Franklin do was admonish some young neighbors for stealing ice-cream. One of the first things we see him do with his new found power is pay off the ice-cream man so he'll give the neighborhood kids free ice-cream. (Also, was it implied that the ice-cream man would also get free or discounted crack?) It took me until this episode to realize the woman at the center of the search was the same woman who died in the pilot. (Maybe I'm slow on the uptake or it was just really bad writing). I understand that they wanted to show different levels of the drug trade, but I think this show would be much better off if they just focused on Franklin.
  7. While I saw that there was a post for discussing spoilers for the upcoming season, I didn't see one for speculation so here it is. What do you want to see in the next season? I'd like The Beatles to be mentioned. I get that the show doesn't probably doesn't have the budget to license clips or songs, but they could have a subplot about Timmy trying to earn money for Beatles tickets to impress a girl.
  8. Yes! This works for so many reasons. Sonny is the oldest son and a hothead like Danny. Michael, like Jamie is the youngest brother, the one who wasn't supposed to go into the family business but does anyway and is great at it. Also both Michael and Jamie are rational, cool, and logical.
  9. My in universe theory is that it was a choice. Jamie and Erin decided to get rid of their accent in college or law school, but Danny kept his because he thought it made him sound tough. A reason that I read somewhere on the internet is that Donnie Wahlberg has a rather thick Boston accent, and the only way he can cover it is with a fake New York accent.
  10. It was sheer luck that he discovered crack. The dealers let him live because he gave them a large sum of money. As for the trade secrets, he must have figured that anyone with that much money was probably a potential business partner and worth sharing the secret with.
  11. You are in luck. We are getting a second season. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5737466/episodes?season=2
  12. Franklin is the only who feels like he has a coherent storyline (how we get from Point A to Point B to Point C). It seems like they keep trying to find a new storyline for Teddy every week and they're going to keep trying different things until they find something that works. Gustavo's story is okay. It's slightly better than Teddy, but quite as coherent and well developed as Franklin's.

    The Nineties

I'll never understand why they do an episode on TV and not movies (this is true for all of the decades series).

    The Nineties

I had forgotten about CompuService and Prodigy too. There was a certain amount of anticipation when the modem dialed. It meant an online adventure was about to start (even if the online adventure was as tame as checking out the imdb.com hit-list, daily poll, and assorted message boards). I loved the ads for the iMac. I clipped this one (or something similar to it) and hung it up in my bedroom.
  15. That's a good clip, but my favorite clip of Tina as Palin is the Katie Couric interview sketch. Overall, I thought this was a great episode and really liked the way they organized it. I was surprise they skipped Nixon on "Laugh In."

    The Nineties

I was so thrilled this episode actually aired. I remember in the late 1990s how cool it was to go to websites for my favorite shows, especially the message boards. I needed to check with my parents before going online because using the internet would tie up the phone line. I loved the Today Show clip at the end. It was funny and reminds us how far we've come in such a short time.
  17. Franklin will be going into something new and different. Crack, while derived from cocaine, is a very different drug in terms of sales and distribution. Franklin will not have to go into white neighborhoods/spaces to sell it. He will be able to sell it in his own community. I get the need to show what the neighborhood was like and the role drugs played (like Franklin's uncle who sells weed), but did they really need 7 episodes just to get to the introduction of crack?
  18. I thought they covered Stewart and Colbert in the segment that was titled something like "Ripped From the Headlines." If they only covered Stewart, than they should have covered Colbert in the segment on parody/satire.
  19. My problem is that I tuned in for a series about how crack devastated a neighborhood and outside forces that lead to that devastation. I feel like they've shown us the before and we as an audience get it. When is crack going to change everything? The show feels like it's spinning its wheels at this point.
  20. Agreed. They did a great job covering Williams and Pyror, but they could have done a much better job covering John Belushi (they needed to show more SNL/better SNL clips) and Chris Farley (Where was the sketch where he dances with Patrick Swayze?)

    The Nineties

I'm curious, what did you think was missing? What should have been included that wasn't part of the Clinton episode? I think the episode did the best it could in the time allotted. They had to cover the Middle East, the break up of the Soviet Union, and the 1992 election all in around 42 minutes. Unfortunately you're going to have to wait another week or two. Next week is terrorism, which for some reason includes Columbine, but maybe it will make more sense in the context of the episode. I think of terrorism as having some sort of political motivation or goal, which wasn't the case with Columbine. Maybe the episode is really focused on crime and terrorism. As for music, they have to include grunge, rap/hip-hop, Latin/Hispanic singers who achieved mainstream popularity, and the teeny boppers.
  22. I wished they had mentioned The Colbert Report or the White House Correspondents' Dinner. I don't see a need to mention Trevor Noah, because Jon Stewart was really the one who made the show what it became. The only thing I can think of that is Noah and Colbert were too busy, and Stewart didn't want to participate. Also, it looks like there's a season 2 in development. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5737466/episodes?year=-1
  23. Yes it was. The episode was on Race and I thought it was a well done episode.

    The Nineties

Exactly. They did the same thing with Reagan in The Eighties, which makes sense to me. I don't know what the other segments are going to be, so it's possible The First Gulf War may be covered in a different episode. You are exactly right. The theme of the episode was Clinton, not politics in the 1990s. It's possible other political topics will be in a later episode. 2000-2010 will do an episode mostly on W Bush, because he was president for most of the decade (2000-2009). In this hypothetical 2000-2010 decade miniseries, they will probably do an episode on Race/African Americans, and may decide to cover Obama in that segment.
  25. When Chernobyl happens, he's going to be thinking something along the lines of "This is horrible, but I called it. I hate to be right about this."
