  1. Agreed. I mean they aren't "space aliens", they are basically from another dimension, as you say like The Empty is, outside of time and space.
  2. Also I'm not sure where Ratings go but for episode 3, the Live + 3 days viewing almost doubled the Live(96%) and while the demos are the middle of the pack, it was the most viewed Wednesday show on ABC last week.
  3. Yeah to me it seems like everything is moving forward in intensity. Now that there are 4 episodes it looks like they have been intentionally building it up each week. Even the mystery of the week was more intense, more violent, more shocking. They've been teasing Cassie and Cormac's flirtation since the first episode, now they essentially went on a "first date" investigation and also proceed to make a very gory break in Cassie backpacker case. They've been teasing the mysteries at the camp and now this week we find out exactly how much Buck knows and the tensions are very high between Sunny, Buck and Walt. Avery says he will support Emily continuing her investigation which seems to ease the tension between them. Luke confronts Emily about her suspicions about him with a subtle threat. Beau has been pretty strict on not letting Jenny into his personal life except on a superficial level, but this week she meets his ex-wife and sees how his ex- unsettles him and the professional rapport they've been slowly establishing this time helps save their lives on a very disturbing case. And Tanya and Donno are NOW bring corralled into the glamping situation, to go after Paige and Luke - where the issue with Walt, the backpacker and what Sunny is willing to do to protect her family are also being tied into the Paige and Luke situation because Paige is hiding with Walt. Honestly I'm really loving how they are weaving everything together. Many of these things started seperately but are now starting to careen towards each other.
  4. Well they obviously changed the narration so you can kind of throw out the original narration in the trailer. Most people are not going to be particular remember what was said in the trailer and trailers aren't canon, even film trialers often change by the time the film comes out. Yes we know it doesn't follow canon and the show itself has said to paraphrase "yes this story looks different, there's a reason for it and we're going to figure it out". I mean that was in the actual narration in the episode.
  5. That's why I always liked that fanfic where Dean and Sam kind of don't ever die, they just keep hunting, like some sort of demigods... IMO I always kind of thought of Dean as a hunter through and through, "saving people, hunting things" is in his soul, I just can't imagine even death changing that. He could never NOT want to help. I just couldn't imagine him sitting around heaven for eternity basically doing nothing. So I would like it if s*** hit the fan and he was put back on the job to try and fix it.
  6. They may start another case or do another shorter case for the finale few episodes. It seems like they usually run the cases for a certain amount of time they don't usually take up the WHOLE season, though elements of it may follow through. So the Glamping trip will be done but perhaps the storyline about whatever Luke and Paige stole will turn into something else or lead to something else that then takes up the back end of the season.
  7. She's supposed to be disturbing. She is clearly disturbed herself. Ryan O'Nan(Donno) wrote this weeks episode, didn't he do a fantastic job? I actually thought he seemed a bit more "human". But anyway I LOVED this weeks episode, I really thought it's the best of the season so far. The main storyline has really started moving along, we've found out more of the history of Walt, Sunny and their pasts. Emily looks like she is going to follow in Dad's footsteps with her detective work(or maybe someday she'll work for Cassie?:)) Now is Avery "helping" or at least being so open to Emily's continuing her "investigation" because he wants to know what SHE's discovering in case she gets too close to something to do with him and he needs to put a stop to it? It's interesting Carla said Avery really wanted this bonding trip, etc and Avery made it sound like Carla was the one who wanted them to "bond". As for Carla, they just seemed like a divorced couple who still have some tensions, I didn't think she seemed like a terrible ex, maybe it's just the actress but she seems to have a warmth to her, BUT it was rude to show up at his work unannounced and put him down in front of his partner. Beau was pretty flustered though. I do think there is something to the idea that he still loves her, because of his reaction to her and also because he watched her walk away. I quite enjoyed Cassie's investigation with Cormac tagging along, it was nice seeing her smile and having some fun ,even if they case she is on is serious and she and Cormac do have good chemistry(whether or not this is a good we'll see, he is part of Sunny's family after all). Them coming up upon the body in the woods in the dark definitely gave the shivvers. We found out Paige is hiding out with Walt who is trying to protect her - did Luke really try to kill her with that rock but Walt saw him and got to him first? So now Paige is hiding out with him, both from Luke and whoever else might be after her? She's clearly there by choice, at least to a certain extent she could easily have yelled out when Sunny and Buck were there to alert them to her presense and chose not to. And now Donno and Tonya are involved because of Luke and Paige but who did they steal from, who would put out a hit on them? If Avery is untrustworthy it be related to him? Now that's out of the way, the weekly murder case was so so very creepy, it was really good. That antique shop with all the dolls is a thing of nightmares. Not to mention the murderer's wolf mask. And the case was a very dark one with a mother murdered, an attempted murder on the father and all because some sicko was obsessed with a teenager since she was a child? It seems like some symbolism with the choice of mask used - Big Bad Wolf after Little Red Riding Hood? Like a twisted nursery rhyme. The whole investigation was well done and also showed gave insight into how Beau and Jenny's partnership has progresses. Seems like the personal and professional are starting to intersect, which Beau has been trying to avoid. The scene in the hidden room VERY intense. finding the girl, her being drugged and out of it and then the perpetrator crawling out from under the bed. The fight scene was very tense and well done in a small cramped space and of course it all ended with showing us how simpatico Beau and Jenny are becoming, they're developing that sort of ESP partners have when they've worked together closely for a while. It was choreographed really well. And I liked that they didn't have Beau, who didn't have his gun in his hand and was injured, try to "protect" Jenny by shoving her away. He took the best tactical decision in that situation and BECAUSE they have now started to develop that partnership, she did what had to be done without delay and without needing it explained. She could protect everyone and he enabled her to do so. And it did lead to this rather hot scene there at the end.(text of the tweet isn't mine, This was the only video of this part of the scene I found on short notice, the others were cut up into smaller pieces)
  8. In The Beginning and Samuel and Mary's reaction seemed to show that even at that time demons were not especially common. Obviously they were known, hunters with any experience at all would know how to fight them but it seems to me that demons not all that common where hunters would be that relatively casual about it. So I'd think the fact that demons seem to be a dime a dozen and enough for experienced hunters to practically roll their eyes about them showing up, is an actual change from the original show but one that will tie into the explanation of why so much else is different. So basically yes to what you are explaining but ALL of that ties into the reasons everything is different and we don't exactly know the nuts and bolts of that yet.
  9. I wouldn't. Why would you love a story where Dean screws up the past and has to fix it? Poor John and Mary as the parents of Dean and Sam really did get f'd over by "the powers that be" of the SPN universe, almost as badly as Dean and Sam did, only neither of them knew it before they died.
  10. This will all be explained. They went into everything else, they certainly didn't just miss that prior to when the show started demons were a fairly rare occurrence, it was mentioned more than once. So if there is a difference here, it ties into everything, into all the differences, that they have said they will be explaining by episode 13.
  11. John was in a uniform, they are made out of wool and probably warm enough and Mary was wearing a leather jacket. I think the uniform and leather jacket were probably enough. In fact March of 1972 in Kansas appears to have been warmer than normal(average daily temp in the 60s) . In Lawrence KS it was a pleasant 62 degrees on March 23rd 1972, though it was cold at night but I think we can give the show a pass for that. 😃
  12. People who aren't following interviews wouldn't know that it isn't following canon thus the narration to set up that we are also looking to find out WHY things are different. Two mysteries one in the past, one in the present - probably eventually tying together. John was 17 when he enlisted. Tours of duty were 2 years.
  13. Another thing to consider, he just got back from the war and now he's immediately found himself another one? That sounds potentially like someone who actually is not so happy go lucky but someone who isn't even really trying to "get back to normal".
  14. I truly enjoyed this and can't wait for the next episode. Obviously I was looking forward to it and supportive of it but it really turned out to be great. There is so much heart. And the world very much felt like the Supernatural universe even with the differences and the new characters. It felt much like home. It actually felt better than the last few seasons of Supernatural and more like "Supernatural" too imo. It felt like a fresh start, something new while at the same time familiar. Drake and Meg have great chemistry and the whole group does together as well. I enjoyed all the new characters and even though their story is a bit different, Drake and Meg feel like John and Mary to me, they feel like "Winchesters"(in the sense of being ancestors of Dean and Sam). Drake has a slightly easier job in seeming Sam-ish(he's a tall man for one thing so people are more ready to see the similarities) but I see a good bit of Dean in Meg's performance of Mary, not a lot, not like either one of them are doing carbon copies, but her attitude, etc. They are both believeable as Dean and Sam's parents. I already feel like that meme with Carlos and Latika - you know "i've only know them for a day but if anything happened to them I'll kill everyone in this room and then myself", that one. LOL They are going to be great additions to the Supernatural universe. I don't know what the big bad is going to end up being but I wonder if they will be like The Winchesters version of Leviathans, I don't mean in look or how they act, etc but just in the sense that they are new, they don't know how to fight them yet, they are from outside the realm of heaven, hell and earth. All in all off to a great start and I'm really proud of what Jensen, Robbie and Danneel have created.
  15. Yeah it makes sense. New John and Mary, new Samuel and I think Tom will do a good job.
  16. I don't know, I'm looking forward to seeing Tom's take on the role. Honestly it's not like Mitch did wonders in the role of Samuel. He was a name, he was OK.
  17. I personally liked this episode and I feel like the suspense was really picking up. I don't mind that they've switched up the mystery a little bit by making it a little bit more of a mystery and none of the scenes felt pointless. There are other ways to be terrible than murder. I was actually really touched by the stuff about Jenny and her mom, she did a good job showing how much pain Jenny has from her relationship with her mother, from how her mother has used her and continues to use her. And this time the case of the week ties into something more, with Tanya and Donno. That they do. He just looked amazing the whole episode. The way Beau is SO determined to keep personal and private life separate with Jenny does seem to suggest that maybe in the past he's had a problem with it and he's trying to NOT repeat the same mistakes. There was also something about when he was telling Ivan that his brother wouldn't want him to spend the rest of his life in prison that makes me wonder if there is something there. It was also interesting how Emily is so suspicious of Avery. I'm still not sure it isn't a red herring, trying to make him seem suspicious, but at least it shows she has a more fraught relationship with him than it's seemed previously.
  18. They aren't. They aren't setting Cassie and Beau up at anything more than friends, they've had her show interest in Cormac,
  19. I think neither Buck nor Cormac know exactly what is going on, they know something is up but I don't think they know about Walt. I agree I think Walt is from a pre-Buck era in Sunny's life.
  20. I think the idea is he's still not that experienced being a parent. I assume her mother does most of the parenting so Avery just sort of is "around". So to him he probably really considering it, "well she's only walking a couple hundred feet up that path, no big deal and I REALLY gotta go. What could possibly go wrong?"
  21. She has a son, her son is now in college, he was I think 17 or 18 when the show started.
  22. Don't forget his visualization techniques. :) Beau is definitely trying to deal with his issues in a healthy way. A character doesn't need to have the weight of the world on their shoulders to be interesting. I'm kind of enjoying the more "street level" issues and challenges of Big Sky and I like seeing Jensen get to act in that setting. He can be both very professional and yet clearly tries to be sensitive as well.
  23. Great interview with Drake https://www.ksitetv.com/winchesters/winchesters-drake-rodger-on-playing-john-jensen-ackles-supernatural-more/232165/
  24. I think within the show it's because they are portrayed more as detectives so they get to dress in "plain clothes", because that's generally what police departments do, so that's how the writers handle it. I'm not really sure if Sheriff's departments work that way but well the sheriff runs it and if he wants to dress in plain clothes, whose going to tell him no? LOL And Jenny has been in plain clothes the whole time which means the previous sheriff let her. I don't look for realism in Big Sky, LOL. There's really never been much on this show that's all that realistic. LOL More of a go with the flow of the story type thing.
  25. I think she said in one of the scenes with Denise that she had to go pick up Kai, so maybe he's supposed to be there, just not on screen? He has a lot of sleep overs with friends I guess? I mean they probably shouldn't do the kids shouldn't be seen or heard thing, at the end of last season I mentioned that, but maybe her mentioning him means he'll start showing up up within the next few eps?
