  1. How much appreciation has there been in the collectible doll market? Even if her investment doubled, she's spent $250k on dolls. Where did a retired store clerk get that kind of money? Still, I enjoyed their reaction to the news. Maurice seemed nice so I hope he stays sober and the family gets better. Mary is lucky to have such a good friend. Her lot looked nice so she should be able to get something for it. And she should be getting a pension, so maybe she could rent somewhere before she starts hoarding up her friend's house.
  2. I liked it, a weird little meta homage to Dave.
  3. I was just thinking how much I missed Dave and then Rachel Maddow showed part of this last night. Thanks for posting the whole thing!
  4. I liked the title they gave the smallest option: towable closet. Because, good God, that was ridiculous. I don't get the wide range of prices. Some in earlier episodes were $60k, which seems high. Maybe that was all due to finishes and appliances, because it can't be location.
  5. I'm just starting season 1 and am so glad I found this show! I like it enough to put up with the ads for all the other USA shows I don't watch (except for Mr Robot).
  6. I love watching the tiny house shows but I seriously doubt there are many people who could live comfortably in less than 250 square feet. I like to have more than a day's worth of food and toilet paper on hand, so I need more than one tiny cabinet for storage. I had to laugh when the daughter of the woman who retired to Hawaii mentioned "all" her knickknacks - 2 vases and 3 books. Still, I'd love a tiny house as a vacation home near a beach. camom, did you ever see Small Space, Big Style? It was about houses/apartments under 1000 square feet (some much smaller, like NYC apartments). I liked that show because my old row house is about 900 sf (plus unfinished basement, for laundry and storage) and I could relate.
  7. I love Rachel but I'm tired of her harping on Fox News and the arbitrary top ten cutoff for the debate. As much as I hate Fox, it's their party (pun only slightly intended) and they can invite as many or as few people as they want. Trump being on stage while Lindsay Graham watches from home doesn't give the short-fingered vulgarian an advantage in any primaries, IMO. I'd rather hear more about those missing birds than about this for the next 3 weeks. Which is why I DVR the show.
  8. The building looks so ordinary without the marquee.
  9. Oh, how I miss Spy. I've been using that description of Trump for 30 years now!
  10. My office is very close to a Wendy's so that's my weekly treat after spending my lunch hour visiting my dad in the nursing home. Spicy chicken sammich and medium fries make me less sad. Krispy kreme came here (upstate N.Y.) and was huge for about a year, then - poof, gone. Dunkin rules, I guess, though I think their donuts are mediocre. If any of you are ever in Albany, try Cider Bellies - fabulous.
  11. That opening segment was powerful. Jon articulated my "I can't even..." thoughts better than I ever could.
  12. Thank you, nowandlater. Dave would definitely have enjoyed the Trump spectacle. I'm still a little peeved with him for letting Trump off the hook for his racism, though.
  13. I'd buy a collection of Will it Float and Is this Anything. I agree that collections and best-ofs are the way to go, but I too think that will not capture some of my favorite moments with Dave at the desk just talking about whatever was annoying him or what happened with Harry over the weekend. On another topic, I re-watched his episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. So funny. I need to look around for the Paley thing with him and Seinfeld, as I recall that being fascinating. Two smart comedians talking about comedy is as good as it gets, I think.
  14. I predict Michelle's house will be full of crap again within a year. Her husband and mother are afraid of her and won't be able to stop her.
  15. Rachel saying that Graham's op ed piece said "this is not funny at all," while shaking her finger, is the funniest thing I've seen in a while. I just love this story.
  16. Me too, and now I'm tearing up at my desk. I loved her screaming from backstage!
  17. Interesting poll. Dave's appeal was broader than I thought.
  18. Irritable, as a cat lover, I thank you for saving your mother's cat. And congratulations on saving yourself.
  19. You did not imagine it. The bit was funny, but not as funny as the tabloid's response. I'm pretty sure Tom Selleck came back on to talk about it. Selleck was always a good guest and had a good sense of humor.
  20. Oh, me too. I was just bemoaning the fact that I'll have to endure Graham being a presidential candidate without Jon being around to do his impression. It's up there with McConnell as a turtle and Cheney as the Penguin. Rand Paul's references to 9/11 as a place made we want to slap him silly. He did once manage to mumble the word "site" at the end so, at some level, he seems to know how wrong it is. I wish people like Jon would start reminding others that the 1st Amendment has to do with a citizen's right to speak out against government. It doesn't mean everyone has to let bigoted douchebags say hateful things with no consequences.
  21. I don't think a summer of reruns at 11:30 will adversely affect Colbert's show. My late-night viewing (recording, really) has been Dave and Jon Stewart only for ages, but I'll watch Colbert whenever he starts (Trevor Noah, on the other hand - no). I've got the Foo Fighters song and the Late Show theme song playing in my head way too much. Gary E, I mistakenly went back to Page 1 of this thread and saw your post about Regis once playing Pea Boy. When he was going through the audience the other night on his way off, I wished he had a basket of peas to toss around.
  22. Wow, that's a lot of viewers. It was a great show, so I'm glad lots of people saw it.
  23. Agreed, alynch. That's a lot of POTUS, and Dave has been pretty brutal to Shrub. I hope the staff got a big severance package so they can take some time before job-hunting. I'm sure the last 6 months has been really stressful for them. I liked the behind-the-scenes video because it showed how many people work there. Lots.
  24. The pause for Farrah's spaced-out "wow" was superb. I hung around for the first few minutes of James Corden's show and he did a nice job. The bit with Sting was funny, and reminded me that Corden really can sing.
  25. A quick random thought: I was glad to see Tony Randall in the dead guys portion of the montage. He was a good friend of the show.
