  1. I agree about Bruce Jenner. I'm disappointed in Brian Williams. I was hoping for at least one more Regis impression from him, but his ridiculous apology makes him seem like such a douchebag that I'm not sure I could enjoy it.
  2. I'm trying to just enjoy the shows but it's getting harder to ignore the looming finale. Dave has been my tv pal for so long, 35 damn years! Jack Hanna is a nut. I'm going to miss him.
  3. El blizzardo Diablo! Well, sorta. I saw John Oliver live last month. He was fantastic. Double posting to add that Nicole Wallace was more likeable than I expected.
  4. Well, it looks like Dave is going to need some recovery time after this football game so the break is serendipitous.
  5. "Area sportscaster" always amuses me. The egg drop was good too. And Julianne Moore is a delightful guest!
  6. But wasn't she on Thursday night? No matter, she was wonderful. I got the feeling that she and Dave have a personal, non show biz, relationship. He's clearly a fan.
  7. So Todd the intern is the new cue card boy? I like it! What's the joke about Edward Norton not living in Dave's building?
  8. I don't want to believe that this will be Amy's last appearance. It's too awful to contemplate!
  9. I've been enjoying the Bush bashing but had forgotten the thing with the glasses. Who does that?? Douchebag.
  10. I didn't recall this either. Thanks for the synopsis. What an ugly story.
  11. Now I'm mad that my ortho didn't give me my old arthritic hip! I had my surgery at about the same time as Steve C so I enjoyed listening to him talk about it. I had to refresh my memory on the John DuPont story. So weird and sad.
  12. I agree that Jordan K. Is getting better and better. He and Jessica are the best new kids in a long time. Pussy crats is spot on.
  13. I live in a mostly poor black urban neighborhood and I was voter 196 for my district - at 7:30 pm. Just abysmal turnout. I'm in upstate N.Y. where democrats always win but it's still disappointing. I'm thinking of complaining about how our polling place changes every time, getting increasingly inconvenient. I don't think that happens in "better" neighborhoods. Anyway, the stack was fun.
  14. I also wondered how a writer of an off Broadway play and a children's entertainer could afford to spend so.much on a house. But I always wonder that with HH. Maybe they have savings and put a lot down. joelle was so awful up l I couldn't make it through the reno.
  15. I just finished reading And Now, an oral history of the NBC show. It was an interesting take on the show, told mostly by the writers and producers (nothing from Dave himself). I learned the origin of Pea Boy!
  16. I was thinking they should always have a supply of good stuff to throw off the roof, just in case! That Black Sabbath song was awesome. I think it might have been the first time I understood the words.
  17. I'm officially sick of the audience's over the top applause for the first guest. Stop it!
  18. Ditto. That was a great piece all around. She seemed genuinely appalled when that woman said she'd been harrassed on a sight-seeing cruise. The only place I've seen Lena Dunham is on TDS but even I have an vague negative view of her, apparently based on skimming internet stories about her, so I was glad Jon made me acknowledge the unfairness of that. And I really liked her dress.
  19. I hate it when Bill O'Reilly is on the show and sounds half-way reasonable, but the questions bit was fun (I especially liked yes or no). WHat happened to Rosie O'Donnell? I used to enjoy her appearances, waaaay back in the day.
  20. The discussion about the Eagles was great. Poor Nancy, saying "Bill, no!"made me laugh. I missed Bill Eichner because of football going long. I'll have to remember.to adjust the dvr every week,
  21. I think the Levine interview was the first one I ever skipped entirely, and I've seen every show. I'm looking forward to the Gillibrand interview. She's from my part of the state and I think the local politicos expected her to be a flop, so I'm glad she's done so well.
  22. Speaking of Jon Oliver - I just got tickets for his live show in December. I'm so excited! "In my defense, fuck that guy" is one of my all-time favorite lines from tv.
  23. Agreed, the tribute was perfect. I liked the bit about them expecting haggis jokes when hearing Robin was Scottish. And I liked that they showed a lot of pictures of Robin laughing.
  24. Two old guys talking about their heart surgery - comedy gold! He was always a great guest. Very sad.
  25. I also love all the "how many guys in a --- suit" bits. And I loved Will it Float and Is This Anything, mostly for the interplay between Dave and Paul. Todd the Intern has been a good successor to Biff with all the remote segments. I'm so old I remember The Car and Truck Rental Song and It's Just Plain Big. Good times.
