  1. I get an occasional Spanish car commercial and some other one in Spanish that I can't remember. I obviously am not paying attention and they don't bother me. Mostly I see them on a cable station or on Pluto, not on antenna shows. But the ones that make me go huh? are car dealer ads in North Carolina or Texas. I'm in Oklahoma. But they all look alike.
  2. it could have been Julio even though I said I was paying attention, that was a typo, I left off the "n't"
  3. From discussions a few pages ago, I thought that the lady trying to get the people in the shop to sing along with Build Me Up, Buttercup was a take on a video - it's on YouTube, of a guy on LA freeways singing the song to radio/tape/CD, (it's an old video) in a very loud voice, windows down and encouraging people in other cars to sing along with him. Some do, some are rude, but I thought it was a rather cute video. And I still hate LiMu Emu and Doug - especially Doug.
  4. I've not seen this ad and that's ok, don't need to but anytime someone starts talking "apps" at me, I run screaming from the room or I want to throw something at the computer or tv. Someone, somewhere in these threads mentioned the product, for which I've forgotten it's name, exactly what the product is, but somehow it's related to women's incontinence. The one with the woman who lowers her voice and glances downward as she says, "that skin." I never paid attention until I saw that post now I truly hate her. And for my other annoyance, the Chime snit who boasts about getting her paycheck two days early. I said in another post that it sounded to me like she was on the verge of breaking into giggles, but after watching the ad a few thousand more times, I think what I'm referring to may be the dreaded vocal fry that others have complained about. I've never been exactly what a vocal fry is, but I think she has it.
  5. I have to disagree with this one too. I have a friends, in the early 90s, their daughters were young, they have pictures of daughters painting dad's nails, putting curlers in his hair. But my favorite pictures of them is when dad lay in the driveway and the girls drew chalk outlines, they were so funny and cute. I got distracted reading posts that I forgot what I came here about. I'm not a Rachel Ray fan, but the pet food ad she does in her commercial kitchen where she asks, "who's hungry? I said, who's hungry?" annoys the stuffing out of me. There's just something about the way she says those lines. It's not convincing, it strikes me as superficial (I'm not sure that's exactly the word I want, but it will do for now).
  6. Icemiser, I wonder about the pieces separating if you lie across a couple of the or large dogs or small children or even teenage children were doing gymnastics as they sometimes do.
  7. I think Rula Lenska is a British actress. And I think she's still alive and acting in Great Britain. At least she was a couple of years ago when a friend mentioned her and I googled her. But back to commercials, the Chime Banking one where I want to smack the young woman who goes into the office bragging she already got paid. The other thing about her that annoys me no end is that in her entire piece she sounds like she's about to break into giggles. A lot of young women talk like that and it's annoying. I don't know if it's an affectation or some sort of speech impediment or if they are about to break into giggles, but it's annoying AF.
  8. I think the Delta guy does a great job with his dancing. He rather reminds me of my ex-husband, but he's a much better dancer than my ex.
  9. I know not what y'all are talking about with the massagers, and I don't really think I want to. lol. But, what I came here to say was a few months ago, I posted about my confusion with the home meal delivery service, Wholesome Foods or Healthy Foods or something, it's Daily Harvest, just saw their ad again, I couldn't understand what they were scooping out of a cup of frozen silver metallic looking stuff. I think they did something with the color on that ad, I haven't touched the color adjustments on my tv. But the past few weeks, it's showing up pink, so I guess it's some kind of frozen, strawberry or cherry ice cream or smoothie.
  10. Been making it a point to watch Medium every morning. There were good actors on this show, they particularly hit pay dirt with the children, all 4 of them were excellent, but the middle daughter, Bridgette, played by Maria Lark was especially a good actor. Last week was the episode where Bridgette and Allison traded bodies and while Patricia Arquette was good playing a 12 year old Bridgette, Maria was outstanding as the adult trapped in a 12 yr old body. Then a few days later, her younger sister had a sex dream about 2 of their dad's co-workers and Maria was just dying to tell her it was not a murder dream but a sex dream, she showed the eagerness of a preteen wanting to share her sexual knowledge superiority. And when Arial was preparing to leave for college and Bridgette was showing her disdain when she really was going to miss her big sister and was hurt that she was leaving home and her. She is such a gem as an actor. Maybe someday, she'll decide to return to an acting career. I wrote the above before the afternoon showing of Cagney and Lacey. Sunday's episode was when Charlie Cagney died and Monday's was Chris alcoholic breakdown. Since I had watched the series years ago, I knew both of those were coming and the acceleration of Chris's drinking is evident, but that episode is a Wow! There is some terrific acting from both the women in this episode.
  11. I do love this show, but I wish Animal Planet would not put the 2 little dogs playing on the bottom of the screen. I keep getting distracted and a couple of times, I thought they were part of what was happening on screen, that there were a couple of loose dogs.
  12. Apparently I'm the only one watching Magnum, still slowly working my way through it, almost finished with Season 7. But, I am either really, really slow on the uptake or I just never paid attention until tonight. I knew Rick's last name was Wright and I knew his real first name was Orville, but I never put those two names together until tonight. I feel rather dumb. I had gotten the play on Rick's Place, I cannot remember when he had that, I think maybe the first season, but I'll just go back to watching.
  13. "3 HOURS AGO, CHENOA333 SAID: Yes it is. Apparently it works. But I was specifically referring to the fact that Khloe has had so much cosmetic surgery for everything else on her body. Her tv show on E! is called Revenge Body. My point was that Khloe has no purposeful job other than lots of plastic surgery so migraines aren't stopping her from more plastic surgery. That's all of them. The dumbing down and famous for being famous fad is a disgrace to this country." I think the Kardashians have a lot to blame them for with the dumbing down of this country. These are not good role models! They may not have started the ball rolling down hill, but they contributed to it big time.
  14. apparently, the Peloton instructors have become stars in their own right during this pandemic. Was watching Weekend Today and the two hosts got a surprise lesson from one today (probably filmed earlier this week) by one of the Peloton star instructors. They were so excited. I was "oh please, give me a break!" Taking my comment about the Kardashians to Small Talk.
  15. with the main cast moving from this show to Major Crimes and I watch both, enjoy both and read both threads, I'm not sure where this was discussed. But, the supporting cast is just so good, the little things going on in the background of the main actors' scene. The other day, I think it was on The Closer because I think it was Irene Daniels, but there is a chance it could have been Amy Sykes. She was sitting at her desk while the main scene was going on and then I think it was Gabriel but it could have been Sanchez, see, I was really paying attention. Anyway, he walked past her and ruffled her hair. It was a moment that occurs everywhere and all the time between co-workers. I don't really see too much of that in other shows.
  16. Been seeing this one, usually on Animal Planet or the news. Yellowtail wine, I guess because it's playoff time. It's annoying and makes me scratch my head. I haven't heard anyone sing with that heavy of a British accent since Herman's Hermits sang about Mrs. Brown's Lovely Daughter and being Henry the Eighth.
  17. I almost don't want to mention it, because I really don't want to see it, but there's ads from a certain dating site I don't see on tv any more. Maybe it's that I just don't watch the channels they advertise on. Maybe all the farmers found each other. Where I used to work, we never mentioned names of patients we never wanted to see again because as soon as their name was said, they'd make an appointment.
  18. How did their timeline line up with the Beatles? I'm confused about timing between the Beatles, Beach Boys, and Monkees...because I thought I read somewhere that the Monkees built their idea of the music videos or romps off the success of the yellow submarine film, which I think was 1966. Wasn't that prior to the Monkees? I guess I assumed Monkees and Beach Boys were copycats, which doesn't mean they didn't have distinct talent, etc., just that the Beatles were first. as someone who was in Jr. High School at the time of the Beach Boys and the Beatles, they became really famous about the same time, but I think the Beach Boys had some hits before the Beatles came on the scene. The Monkees came out when I was in High School. I think they were a sort of response to The British Invasion. I never thought of those musical scenes as romps, but that is a pretty good description of them. I was also disappointed to lose Man from U.N.C.L.E., I was an Ilya girl all the way! Now that's a show that in many ways doesn't hold up, but in other ways was very ahead of it's time. I saw a few episodes on very late night H&I when I first shut off cable. I can't remember much about them except they used a lot of sexual innuendo. Or as in one of my favorite misspellings from my working days, sexual in yer window.
  19. I want to know why Brenda's Ding Dongs are wrapped in foil. I finally broke down and put one pkg on my grocery order today. Mine came wrapped in clear plastic.
  20. I have a slightly different take on the Liberty Mutual Nostalgia Christmas commercial. I want that doll house! I think it would fit my 16" dolls perfectly! And it reminds me of the tin litho doll houses I had as a kid, and to be honest, I have 2 of them currently that I've found at flea markets.
  21. Quantum Leap is on the Roku channel. I don't think I'm going to watch the entire series, but I am going to see a couple of episodes that I keep missing. Watching Season 1, Episode 1 right now, and Scott Bakula was so darn cute.
  22. I haven't filed taxes in 10 years. Reason, I'm on SS retirement only and it isn't enough that taxes are withheld or paid. So I owe nothing and I get nothing in return. I don't qualify for any earned income stuff. This year, I may have to file for last year because of the $1200 stimulus, I'll have to see. If all we get this year is the $600, I probably won't have to. If we get more stimulus money, I'll have to see. and for those who want to look down on me for just having a minimum SS retirement, stick it in your ear. There are reasons, plans were made then circumstances happened. Life is what happens when you're making other plans.
  23. once upon a time, when I could do laundry at home and hope to again in a few months, I used vinegar in the rinse cycle for towels. It makes them fluffier and more absorbent. I never use fabric softener or dryer sheets for towels. But this past year, I didn't do my own laundry, my neices did it and they think they know everything and I'm an old fashioned fuddy duddy and don't know anything. So, fabric softener got used. I hope tomorrow to accompany my laundry doer to the laundromat. No fabric softener will be used on the towels. Editing to add about the vinegar, it helps take out the excess soap that may be left in the towels from the wash cycle. I think I learned that from an old HGYV show, with MaryEllen, I believe. I loved HGTV in those days.
  24. You ever smell a wet dog? yes, but you wash the towel. I have a dog towel hanging by the back door to wipe muddy paws. No one is going to mistake that towel for anything else. But it goes in the wash and come out just fine. It also has huge holes from where the dog chewed it, that's how I know it's the dog towel, that and it's a different color than my other towels. I don't use Gain, either.
  25. I don't mind the Martin/Charlie Sheen ads, I don't pay a lot of attention to them, but if Dad wants to help son get his act together, as long as he's not enabling him to relapse, it's fine. I haven't heard how Charlie's doing and it's not really my business. Live and let live and all that. As for Jennifer Aniston, I'm not really a fan, but I love Aveeno. I am allergic to so many skin products, the more expensive, the more chemicals, the more allergies. Aveeno is one of about 3 I can use. However, I'm so old, I have no idea what a serum is in skin care. Of course, they have it (according to Jennifer). To me a serum is something in medicine. As far as not knowing what it is in skin care, I care even less. I think the big tax bill they are faced with does come from penalties and interest, that can add up quick. I'll tell you one way a person can get that behind. Many years ago, a friend of mine went 4 years without filing taxes. Her husband had killed himself after barricading himself in their home and the police storming the house. It took her a very long time to get back to any kind of normalcy in her life. She finally faced the taxes when the IRS left a note on her door. I helped her and she ended up getting a huge refund with interest for those years. In her case, it went well, but it could just as easily gone the other way.
