  1. I wish I could see into the writers' heads to know if the "if she were a man" business was meant to be Alicia being unreasonable or if they were actually trying to make a social commentary. I just don't get why they even went there.
  2. "I'm a poet, and didn't even know I was rhyming those words" wins tonight for me.
  3. I think just the casting of Steven Pasquale for the campaign guy laid the groundwork. (Agreed, though, I was surprised).
  4. And the conspiracy theory gets cooking!
  5. Not even an Anna Torv.
  6. I was shocked that the pen trick worked too, since the girl had a tension pneumothorax*. Tracheotomy wouldn't fix that. I am loving the pre-med Elena thing. It's been a barrel of laughs already! *I presume, or something similar, based on the the presence of a deviated trachea as was so hilariously described by Liam. ETA*.
  7. I really enjoyed this. Not perfect, but definitely worth seeing if it settles in to a groove post-pilot. I thought Leoni was very good. And if they wanted to make a show centering around Tim Daly the religion professor, I might watch that too.
  8. I agree with you in spirit, but in the show's defense (sort of), unrealistic portrayals of traumatic brain injury (or other injury as you mentioned) is the norm in TV and movies. It bugs me too. If you haven't seen it, David Tennant was in a really well done piece about a man with traumatic brain injury: http://www.headwayessex.org.uk/Home/david-tenant-headway-essex-patron And Anson Mount's last scene was heartbreaking! He is so good. *snicker*
  9. Thanks for the podcast link... ...and, there goes another evening.
  10. So agree. I l-o-v-e the books but this and other changes are strengthening the plot for me. I like that it seems that Ron D. Moore is reverential in a way but also not afraid to try to improve.
  11. I agree, that's the one I wanted to go back and rewatch right away. With "If I Didn't Know Better" a close second. This special just made me love the show that much more (and want more music on the show). They really all held their own quite well.
  12. OK, OK. You guys were all right, I was wrong about thinking last week's ambush was a joint plan. Damn your conniving, Horik!
  13. Lagertha, why would you ask Siggy in front of Horik "What's wrong with Ragnar's son?"? I guess he would find out soon enough. Liked the Bjorn/Rollo fight training (and when they train in general). Not just because it was, ah, fun to watch, but also I like to see what they do to earn their battlefield prowess. I loved that the Big Three play-acted the group dynamics between themselves that had been real just earlier to dupe Ecbert's son.
  14. This. And I snickered at Siggy taking the "Floki's on the outs with Ragnar" piece as a big secret to Horik, then Floki does a completely public announcement of said secret by not inviting him to the wedding. Also: Really? Bjorn didn't know what a blood eagle is? The guy's a teenager, not three years old. (Unless the blood eagle didn't actually exist historically and he's the lone voice of reality...)
  15. I'm going to miss Jarl Borg and his crazy eyes. And his beard braid twins. And his skull.
  16. I agree -- it will be so interesting to see if Athelstan chooses Ragnar or Ecbert once Ragnar comes back. I also wondered if Ecbert's son tried to tattle on Athelstan about the communion bread, and it totally backfired on him. I do think that Athelstan enjoys his talents being appreciated more than they were during his Viking stay. You're not alone.
  17. I'm going to start bringing a skull to meetings.
  18. Maybe Jarl Borg had a second set of stores for his own people?
  19. Any other TWoPers over here yet? Love the Ecbergt character. I cannot tell what he's going to do next, and he has such a malevolent undertone. Was surprised by Siggy asking if Rollo is still in love with Lagertha. I guess they're going to go there!
