  1. What I hate about the side-by-side is that I find myself in deep empathy with the racers. I would hate to be on any of those arm and finger strength things as seeing out of the corner of my eye someone doing the same or worse or better. For me it would be the ultimate distraction. Speaking of, how did they resolve the guys sbs who both fell on the last obstacle. Mr. Cats was talking and distracting...sort of fitting, that.
  2. `Meanwhile, here's a newspaper article from Australia about someone who cleans up Hoards. A slower approach Is this common sense? Or is it something that might work long term? (Whatever happened to the British show?)
  3. For fans of the Shetland Islands, you may want to read a news story about the Orkney Islands (that are between Scotland and the Shetland Islands. The Orkney are wondering if they should rejoin Norway. With lots of history and beautiful pictures. 'The history of Orkney
  4. sounds like a retro boy band Anyway, I would doubt that Winnipeg has a method to deal with such mess on a large scale. After Katrina when people abandoned their houses and the electricity was turned off IN NEIGHBORHOODS THAT DIDN"T FLOOD, almost every house had such a refrigerator. Or several. They were instructed to tape them and put them out for pickup. It was tragic seeing subzeros just sitting on the hell strip waiting to be buried in a landfill. New subzeros. But for the lack of sense of their owners who should have cleaned them out, left the doors open, and come back to start over. Which would be first successful abandonment of a hoard in the history of this show. Muchless a sub-hoard that had enough value to interest an auctioneer.
  5. I really liked the Dr. and when he started talking about her deflecting it was a good insight. ;When the basement flooded should have been the best time to drag out all things wet for disposal. We did wonder who would change out the sheet rock which would absolutely have to be done for mold issues. Did first boyfriend leave or die? His "hoard" was worth good money and the auctioneer really could make money off of it at an auction directed at do it yourselfers. (Such exist for small tools as well as large equipment (a friend's husband has bought from them until all outbuildings were filled.))
  6. Highlight of the night, which you might have missed if you blinked Flex LeBrek's husband was running and she was at home cheering for him. The film showed a brief view of their rather new baby. A lovely picture of Momma and baby. Husband didn't make it to the wall but was good enough to go forward. Two things: Obstacle 2 was not the killer tonight as they watched last weeks and learned how to move to dismount it. Once again the three girls shown at then end came from when I dozed off or somewhere and two competed in the run. You know, I used to hate calling young women "girls". But the noun seems to fit here.
  7. Now Warriors has what seems to be hundreds of minors running the course, and that percentage chances of encounters with older ninjas have simply increased. I can see making a suggestion for two catagories of competition: minors and adults. With 18 being the pivot age.
  8. I started a serious watch of this series this afternoon. Claustrophobia hit me, but I kept watching. Hated the hoarder for her not caring about her family at all. So I focused on Dr. Robin, who really seems to believe that her one size fits all approach is the only approach that works. She talked at Lia and it was so obvious that Lia had tuned out the world around her. Mr. Ecats came in with about fifteen minutes left and began to complain that the house was cluttered. I tried to get through to him that those were the after shots. Then they showed before and after and there just was so much stuff before that the walls and room shapes didn't register. If that had been Dr. Robin's audition tape, I don't think she'd have gotten the job.
  9. Yes. Let me expand with what I miss: I miss the surprise of the self made ninjas, the ninjas who didn't have a course built for them, but who took what they found where they lived and worked with it until they had gotten strong enough to compete. Steffi Graff had her skill from being a pole vaulter, some others were rock climbers, and possibly my favorite two from their side stories: Lance Pinkus who used his whole farm to train on. And the Eskimo ninja who had Alaska to train on until invited to a warmer climate by another ninja to do it without cold fingers. (I don't remember his name, and it may be the one 'name for TV' that really worked to separate him from the others.)(I think it's telling that the young ones are labeled with their ages but it implies they don't have anything else to distinguish themselves.)
  10. Did I blink at inauspicious times? They had competitors up for a couple of seconds and didn't even flash their names (or did I blink and miss them. That third obstacle was a dream killer. I freeze framed the end of game summary and they only listed three females, and were none of them the racers??? The men contestants had bad runs IMO, did I read it right that one of them only completed the first obstacle and others only got to the third? Tonight's runs may have been so bad that the editors depended on massive fluff to fill the hour.
  11. If I hadn't seen the list, I wouldn't have bothered. There are enough of my favorites from ages past, I will watch and hope for the best.
  12. If there was a single good race so far, I missed it. P**A would complain that players are falling almost before they leave the starting gate. One person races leave me wondering why? I sort of expected there would be more of the race off, not just the two almost in guys or gals. Speaking of guys: I am not a Daniel Gill fan, his hair bothers me and his little protégé , The kid, may have been or become the reason that the place is crawling with teenagers. That said, Mr. Gill looked really fine in his tight fitting shirt. Lots of other guys looked buff, but IMO that tight knit made him look as if he had been sculpted in ancient Rome from fine Carerra marble. Back to reality: the guy with the prosthetic lower leg made me smile a lot, a whole lot, in a most wholesome way/
  13. I think it may have been because they planned for series of one hour shows. But NOW there's a writers' strike so there was no one to write an explanation for the hosts to read?????????
  14. Did they make any announcement as to why the fifth obstacle change to the bells? Was it just editing or have we seen the last of the first fifth obstacle? (I even understand why this part of the country has a Fifth Third Bank, but I don't get switching obstacles in the middle of a broadcast)
  15. I haven't watched enough of the eps in order to understand what's behind the order of who is opposite whom. I have found it depressing that I know most of the teams and those I really have grown to admire over time don't seem to be adjusting to their less-than-brave new world. Fast forward is the only way I can make it through a two and a half hour watch. Ok, I'm old, but I don't need the flashing light beginning and I'm looking fondly backwards on the drag racing start lights. Basic question: is the floor in such bad shape in front of one of the start boxes that bots are having to detour around it? Most recent I think at least two hung up at the same bot-hole
  16. A news story from England. Two siblings die of self caused smoke inhalation and kept the authorities out long enough so they must have thought the won in the end. They didn't own the house and there were neighbors sharing walls on either side. Personal rights and community rights ...no easy answers.
  17. I'd read a lot about it when the body was found, and I had read a lot of history. I was really turned off by the trailer with costume man appearing are reappearing and reappearing. I don't think the movie writers and rewriters of recent history have had me in mind as part of their target audience. change my mind/?
  18. Google has this
  19. If you haven't tried a Kerry Greenwood Miss Fisher book, it's February and just thinking of living in Australia is an improvement over what are having now. Amazon Kindle has some of the Miss Fisher e-books at under two dollars, which is less than the gas to get to the library to pick them up. You might want to try one to see how it is like and unlike our beloved heroine's TV persona. (I like them both.)
  20. I'm a week or two behind in watching. It's come a long way from must see TV. It's interesting to see changes made by the teams we've come to know. And, for me, that's a problem. We don't have any new kids on the block, any underdogs with unknown potential. The new teams seem to have a leader or two who have left their motherships to do things their own, maybe new way. Rusty has a place in my heart. Heck, when did we last see the innovation of more automated Chomp. My solution: next year announce a not-heavier than 100lb. weight class will be the only class. Let's see if they can think minimalism and what is important and what can be discarded. (I'd bet Minotaur could minimize with the best of them.
  21. Who do we contact to request respectfully that there's an American audience who would like to hear the content of that broadcast that isn't the show?
  22. She looks so good to be 76 years old and this article talks about the four shows for next season. There's also a video of her as a blonde on a current tv show and her dog is with her, not behaving particularly well.
  23. Are the flames for show, or do they damage the other bot? I've been trying to remember the flames of years past, and I remember getting bored with them because most seemed to be more damaging to themselves than to the other bot. My dream of a blowtorch bot probably won't happen because they don't want to melt the floor of the cage (a nice sticky trap that would be less forgiving that the occasional kill saw) A flame never flipped another bot, at least not yet.
  24. We're in the process of changing access. The battlebots website hasn't been updated, does anyone know which streaming services will have it?
