  1. I kept falling asleep during the third stage, it bore (heh, heh) a resemblance to counting sheep. I don't know what they could have done to make it interesting, it was like watching hopscotch in grade school. Revisiting the back stories might work for ADD fans. Next week: Monday night football.
  2. And the younger ones with 'nothing' to lose because it's just an exercise routine (emphasis routine routine) for them can speed though. I think there may be a big "but" for the more seasoned competitors: they've done it so often they take for granted that they will make it through and are thinking ahead to the one "new" obstacle. At least some of the old timers never made it to the new thing.
  3. I really hate that someone who (make that someones whoall) didn't complete the course advance. IMO, you don't complete the course, you go home wet. I would like to see how much cleaning the obstacles get between runs. As in, wiped dry from the previous guy's sweat, spit and oil from where ever. When your hand grip matters, everybody should be getting the same dryness.
  4. What does it take to win a race in this stage? Just get farther than the other guy? Get farther faster and then fall and the other guy gets ahead, but slower? complete the race course first? (and a non-completion doesn't win?) (That would be different!)
  5. I watched it with a slight delay. I kept falling asleep except for the "old timers". The editors are hard pressed to make the teenies interesting. I did notice that Kayden the magnificent wears the same clothes he was wearing two years ago and also last year. He's fun to watch and so cool about his style. I kept hating the roulette wheel which seemed to be immobile for some and slick as a pig wallow for others.
  6. The flip into jumping spider cost him a bunch of seconds. He's just lucky that the fast kids weren't that fast tonight The girl who was edited to have run first: did she not know or maybe not understand that when you are running against the clock, it's ignorant to stop and wave and people and jump up and down being so proud of herself? We see this often enough that I wonder if they just don't listen to the "you have 34seconds to complete the run" "Now move!" The spider splash downs are enjoyable. Tonight we didn't see the guy with the prosthetic leg (who beat Dan Gill) and I wondered how some of these obstacles could mess with him,
  7. It's hard to watch when the local real weatherman is covering the screen. At least the tornado warnings were to our northeast in the second hour, but that meant I missed seeing the so-called old timers hit the water. The only competition I cared about ended up with Daniel Gil in the water and his so-easy-to-cheer-for competitor getting farther. Danged if our house didn't get a lightening strike before I could go back and see if Gil's hair deflated or not. Managed to get the show on local broadcast but no show was deemed more important that the flood warning (for us) and the tornado. Just got internet back this evening and I'll look for summaries. The side by side races just aren't worth searching for.
  8. I watched it. I pity the film editors and I wonder how they will fill two hours next Monday. I should specify that fast forward remains an important part of my viewing experience and the mute button doesn't get as much work as it is appreciated through the whole would-be-hour. It's not that the talking heads aren't good, I don't know how anyone could have anything to say that would add to the steaming mess they've been served. There's a reason greyhound races aren't big on TV, likewise wienerdog races. Will we ever get the same thrill when our stunt woman was trying to move up in the air from one large plexiglas box to another one and everybody else was trying to jump? She looked at the distance and figured (yes, she THOUGHT about it) and contacted that second box with her outstretched arm and hand and flattened her foot against it and pulled herself over.
  9. I was reading a good ebook and decided Ninjas would be better later this week as long as I have fast forward. Anyone know how the ratings are going and if the younger demographic is watching or not?
  10. Fast forward remains my best friend. But, in fairness, there was a brief moment Monday night that was charming and it even had a teenager as a participant. Somehow they found a picture of the teenager when he was even younger and had gone to a Ninja competition and was (IIRC) cheering for the guy he was running against that night. That was neat, but not neat enough to go back and get the names and very brief story straight. I almost wish they didn't show the sophisticated set ups that these amateurs work out on all year long.
  11. side by side? There's a reason some race horses need blinders so they aren't distracted by their other competitors. I would not be comfortable if there were somebody airborne ten (or fewer) feet in front of me, also sailing through the air, or dropping and splashing. Blinders, for the ninja who has everything else
  12. The Atlanta Journal and Constitution had a long article about what shows were filing this month in Atlanta I guess it will be time to see if hoarder rudeness is a comparable thing in the South.
  13. At what point are the mens' semi and womens' semi combined? This wasn't a problem when everybody raced against the clock, but will the finals still have the two contestant races?
  14. If you are near an area with rapid development, lots of new buildings and lots of real estate sales, the upgrades can be as often as annually. (there are dates and you can check evolution of buildings over time.) I'm out in the country, but lots of development and every two years or more often is what the county property assessor uses. If there's heavy tree cover, satellite views are shot in winter to avoid the leaves. Some drones require licenses to operate them. And some places (like flight paths to airports) forbid drone flights. And then there are places where the gift of choice was a drone for a youngster; you can tell where those are by the drone carcasses stuck in trees.
  15. Google earth satellite views show a whole lot. This spring we used it to check our woods to see where trees had fallen we could cut up for firewood.
  16. Once upon a time, I as an aged 40 something had a young female tech I was training. She had had a daughter two years earlier and was trying to get back in shape. One morning she was crying and I asked why. That morning at home she was on the ground trying her stretches and trying to touch her nose to her straightened knee cap. Daughter comes over , mimics her Mom's stance and touches her nose to her knee cap and further rests her cheek on the floor next to her knee. And asks her Mommy if she could do it? Mommy got to thinking on her way to work and realized she'd never have some flexibility ever again. And that's what I think of when I see the teenagers, the very light weight teen agers scooting through the course.
  17. So, shall we crowdsource a movie about the hoard that grew? First we need a title: Chairman of the Hoard I had plans for that rock Where are my teeth?
  18. What I hate about the side-by-side is that I find myself in deep empathy with the racers. I would hate to be on any of those arm and finger strength things as seeing out of the corner of my eye someone doing the same or worse or better. For me it would be the ultimate distraction. Speaking of, how did they resolve the guys sbs who both fell on the last obstacle. Mr. Cats was talking and distracting...sort of fitting, that.
  19. `Meanwhile, here's a newspaper article from Australia about someone who cleans up Hoards. A slower approach Is this common sense? Or is it something that might work long term? (Whatever happened to the British show?)
  20. For fans of the Shetland Islands, you may want to read a news story about the Orkney Islands (that are between Scotland and the Shetland Islands. The Orkney are wondering if they should rejoin Norway. With lots of history and beautiful pictures. 'The history of Orkney
  21. sounds like a retro boy band Anyway, I would doubt that Winnipeg has a method to deal with such mess on a large scale. After Katrina when people abandoned their houses and the electricity was turned off IN NEIGHBORHOODS THAT DIDN"T FLOOD, almost every house had such a refrigerator. Or several. They were instructed to tape them and put them out for pickup. It was tragic seeing subzeros just sitting on the hell strip waiting to be buried in a landfill. New subzeros. But for the lack of sense of their owners who should have cleaned them out, left the doors open, and come back to start over. Which would be first successful abandonment of a hoard in the history of this show. Muchless a sub-hoard that had enough value to interest an auctioneer.
  22. I really liked the Dr. and when he started talking about her deflecting it was a good insight. ;When the basement flooded should have been the best time to drag out all things wet for disposal. We did wonder who would change out the sheet rock which would absolutely have to be done for mold issues. Did first boyfriend leave or die? His "hoard" was worth good money and the auctioneer really could make money off of it at an auction directed at do it yourselfers. (Such exist for small tools as well as large equipment (a friend's husband has bought from them until all outbuildings were filled.))
  23. Highlight of the night, which you might have missed if you blinked Flex LeBrek's husband was running and she was at home cheering for him. The film showed a brief view of their rather new baby. A lovely picture of Momma and baby. Husband didn't make it to the wall but was good enough to go forward. Two things: Obstacle 2 was not the killer tonight as they watched last weeks and learned how to move to dismount it. Once again the three girls shown at then end came from when I dozed off or somewhere and two competed in the run. You know, I used to hate calling young women "girls". But the noun seems to fit here.
  24. Now Warriors has what seems to be hundreds of minors running the course, and that percentage chances of encounters with older ninjas have simply increased. I can see making a suggestion for two catagories of competition: minors and adults. With 18 being the pivot age.
