  1. @gunderda I understand what you're saying about not calling them kids, but if you're in your early to mid 20s (and I know some of them are older than that, but I'm thinking mainly of Megan's age) that's a kid to me! I'm just getting old. Sigh. Lol!
  2. A lot of people are giving him a hard time but on this week's show I liked how he told her straight out that she made him uncomfortable with the level of touchiness. Many guys (and girls) aren't that straightforward. I have two teenage boys and the one thing we have tried to teach them (overall, but in this context, about dating) is above all, be honest and don't play games. I also think, for all that some of us have said that Kris hasn't taught Megan a lot of life skills (or at least it seems that way from what we're seeing), she had some great things to say about the breakup. I loved when she kind of laughed and reminded Megan she's only 24 and has plenty of time. That sounded like any other parent of any other young adult, with or without disabilities. And I had to laugh about the gluten lie she told her (and the fact that Megan kind of rolled her eyes when she found out it was not true, rather than get upset. She probably knows that's the kind of thing her mom would say). I meant to add, @anonymousgirl that yes, I watched Monica and David a few years ago. I wonder how they are doing now.
  3. I know it's been pointed out that he doesn't, but it seems that whatever his developmental delay is doesn't involve the middle school attitude toward sex. That was probably not worded as well as it could have been, but I don't know how else to say it.
  4. Agree, and it seems uncharacteristic of them because they seem so levelheaded. But I can appreciate it's a tough topic to address. I loved how Angel was so laid back on the couch (literally and figuratively) when they asked did they want to have sex and he said yes. I wonder what his capabilities are (not related to sex! Lol!) because he seems to understand it more easily. He also seems to have a very calming effect on Cristina.
  5. Wow, that sex ed class was illuminating. As capable as each person may be in certain areas, it seems they are all on the level of a middle schooler (or maybe even younger) emotionally when it comes to some topics. That's scary when you think of how easily they could be taken advantage of.
  6. Cristina and Angel completely crack me up. "Legit", "badass", "watch your language" and her no farting rules...and then he promptly burps into his sleeve. You can tell they really love each other and like each other too.
  7. I didn't either. That's another thing DS and I both don't want next season, a love triangle.
  8. Dh was just able to get tickets for Little Foxes when we are there! So excited. I love Laura Linney and the idea of seeing her live....?.
  9. Finally watched this. Wasn't crazy about some of it but glad they finally circled back around to the book ending. Even if we didn't get the epilogue. 1. I agree. I especially like the scenes with the bright sunlight, as if to juxtapose their situation with brightness. If only some of the episodes weren't so dark...the series as a whole was very uneven that way to me. 2. Exactly what I said to DS as we watched the guy hand over the health insurance and rx cards! 3. He said "trust me." That was right on-book. There was something else that he said in the book that he didn't say but not sure if it was just me not hearing it. Where did the spoiler icon go, I can't find it anymore.
  10. To those who also watch Orphan Black and watched the season 5 premier, is the woman who is "Mud" who shows Cosima around Revival the same one who said she went to a bat mitzvah at the hotel where the Mexican ambassador banquet was?
  11. I mentioned that to my son, who just finished the book and has watched the first three episodes. He said he thinks the mother will be in season two. I kind of think that ship has sailed but I could be wrong.
  12. This is so true even with neuro-typical kids. (Not to take away anything from your post; I love reading your perspective because you have an insight most of us don't.)
  13. Reporting back...my DS16 finished the book and loved the Historical Notes section like I thought he would. I have not watched the season finale yet but gather from what I am skimming that these notes do not appear because there will be a season 2. I am disappointed with the direction this has gone in. DS is going to start watching now and I think he is also not going to like the return of Luke and Moira. He is not looking forward to seeing some of the Ceremony scene, which he thinks (and I agree, having seen them) will be very awkward to watch. I thought the Historical Notes was the best part of the whole book in terms of giving it a framework and answering some of the questions that were vague in the book, like what was Nick's role and did Offred get out alive, which we obviously end up finding later that she did. Oh well, I probably will watch season 2, or at least start it.
  14. I am not going to be able to stay up for this whole show because I need to get up for work tomorrow. But I am really hoping Laura Linney wins. I love her in everything she does. Enjoy the show everyone!
  15. Your comment about Miss Saigon is pretty much what my DS16 just said to me. We don't get to NYC often enough to see a ton of shows, so unfortunately, we tend go for the big ones. We're going next month and are seeing Lion King. Which is not to say I wouldn't try some of the others, but time and funds just don't allow for it as much as I'd like.
  16. I just said to DH and DS it might be a great show but that number did not inspire me to go see it.
  17. The 60s-80s showed up on Netflix so I'll probably just wait for that. No interruptions.
  18. Was not a fan of this episode. I don't feel the need to flesh out all the characters the way they have been. Did not like the off-book Mayday mission. Only one episode left and I do not like where I think season two is going to go with more storylines not in the book. I have been mostly pleased until now and now I am just...not.
  19. Agree with so many things people have said. Rachel's family is awesome. I loved seeing John Sr. watching them dance and singing along. I do not get a deadbeat vibe at all, but more the older generational gender roles at play. John Jr. has a great sense of humor. I think in some ways he seems so much more capable than some of the others. And I hope Steven's new job gives him the challenges he wants.
  20. And that's part of the problem with the show as I see it. They have done a good job with so much but they've removed ambiguity from so much and I miss it.
  21. I just thought of this: how do you think they will handle the recording of the story since they have shifted the "present" to 2017-ish versus 1985? Cassette tapes are not the norm anymore. Do you think she'll have found a cell phone along the way and made videos of herself telling the story? That also kind of negates the mixing in the music idea, which is too bad because I loved that detail.
  22. Don't forget "Dr. Donnie" (Kristian Bruun from Orphan Black)! Yes, I know he was a one hit wonder on this show, but I love him as Donnie.
  23. Maybe because it was so dark, I didn't see it well enough. LOL.
  24. Interview with Joe Fiennes from a few weeks ago. http://www.gq.com/story/joseph-fiennes-the-handmaids-tale
