  1. It was also my memory that Steve was reading Proust when they first met. I have a habit of zooming in on pics or pausing shows to see what books are being read, so I assume that's what I did. The clip got posted here but I couldn't make it out, but I also haven't gone back to watch the actual episode again. I need to. I had the impression that Che was pan and slept with men and women but I'm not sure where I got that idea. Did we hear them self identify that way at some point?
  2. I was so pissed at Sam when she was being mean to Joel, who is, like, the personification of hope and joy and candy snd sunbeams. It was like watching her kick a golden retriever puppy. So glad she realized she was being toxic snd went to make up with him. Hot neighbor is hot.
  3. I love it, and so did my honey, it's right up our particular entertainment alley. Dark, funny, sardonic. And we both really really like Sofia Black-D'Elia. She’s gorgeous and talented and not afraid to play dark and sordid. Sam is a difficult character, the kind it'd be easy to have no patience or empathy for after awhile, in lesser hands, but she has this inherent vulnerability and self deprecation that makes you root for her. Love seeing Ally Sheedy too. Will def keep watching.
  4. I think Miranda DID put Steve down and make it seem as if his comfort level in the marriage was something to be ridiculed as inferior, tho. Her very blatant implication was that he was boring and "not enough" for her because she, Miranda, was exciting and thirsty for more, even though it doesn't appear she bothered to try to do much to revive their relationship or suggest new things. Its fairly stereotypical mid life crisis bullshit, designed, consciously or not, to make the dumped person feel dull, pitiable, less-than. Steve doesn't deserve that. Like many here, I've been thru it. Husband of 14 years tells me he doesn't love me anymore. Our relationship definitely had its ups n downs, but it was still shocking. Of course, he was having an affair but didn't want to look like the bad guy, so didn't have the decency to admit that, i had to find out on my own. He used phrases like "our relationship is crushing my soul" and "you're not enough for me" blah blah blah. A story old as time, but still pretty devastating. In the end, divorce was the best thing that ever happened to me, and I hope we get see that for Steve. I hope Miranda has some consequences for her actions. I agree with @JasonCC (sorry for what you've gone thru, but I 100% guarantee it gets better and you will be happy again, happier, even, than before) that she deserves a little humiliation, a little hubris check, a little reality. I can't tell if the writers will give that to her, tho, or reward her.
  5. Please, y'all, don't give them any ideas. Why would Nya want to be with Miranda? Nya is straight and with a sweet, hot guy. She's also very hot. Miranda has become a creepy, frizzy haired Karen (sorry to the actual Karens who never deserved to have their name besmirched) who's selfish, disloyal, weird and vaguely stupid. I don't know what anyone would see in her anymore.
  6. Well, I mean, nobody should do anything sexually they aren't comfortable with. But pulling it completely off the menu just cuz you've been together a long time seems unsporting.
  7. Is it supposed to some kind of weird accepted "fact" that women don't blow their partners after awhile? I mean, we know Miranda didn't (poor Steve) but surely Mr. Big wouldn't have been ok with that, or vice versa for Carrie. Again, I know its a joke, but it feels like one of those old wives takes people for some reason like to believe in. I keep hearing Charlotte's voice in my head from some old SATC ep saying "oh, poor Steve!" and I really expected her to say it again now but no. Agreed, she should have gotten out sooner. And again, i haven't really seen anyone here thinking Miranda should stay in a marriage she doesn't value anymore. Sure, some people are sad about the relationship ending. And yeah, some people would find the kind of comfortable relationship they've had a good thing, and that's ok. And its even okay if its not enough for Miranda and she wants out. But she's handled it all in the most selfish, hateful, tacky, gross way, and that's what most people are objecting to.
  8. I know there's only about 10 years between SR and CN, but Miranda looks like Ches's grammy. I do not understand or believe that Che is in love with her. I have no idea, at this point, why they would be. I also call bullshit that Che feels like they didn't need to have the open marriage convo BEFORE finger banging Miranda, or then sleeping with her for 3 weeks. They are right, Miranda had no business putting herself out there while still ostensibly in a monogamous marriage, but it's still on Che to ask, if that's a deal breaker for them. Also, Che comes off like such a dude-bro sometimes, that's what bugs me so much. Being non binary doesn't make it less obnoxious than when its a guy. And I still just hate the hair. All that said, Che is much more likable than Miranda any more. SR is a good actor, I just wish they weren't saddled with this fairly thankless role. The steve/Miranda scene was well performed. I've been thru a divorce, many of my friends have too, and its never pretty. Its also rarely as calm as that conversation. Steve deserved to get PISSED. I'm at least glad he told her he didn't have it in him to rally for them as a couple anymore. He's fucking tired of it. He deserves more. I can buy that he's been content with a great house and watching movies and eating ive cream with his partner; hell, that's a goal for many, especially after you get a little older. And sex lives wane after a lot of years together. But to never have sex, for years, and not even talk about it, that's not normal, and I don't know why Steve would settle for it. I'm glad to see he'll be back next week, I figured this would be it for him. They've had so little regard for him up til now. I really hope they do not have him begging her to come back or taking her back once Che hopefully dumps her. I liked Carrie’s new neighbor. I liked Carrie again this week, despite the inexplicable smoking get up. I loved most of the rest of her wardrobe tho. I loved her interactions with Lily too, and that she's a good Auntie to her. (My BFF also adopted 2 Asian daughters and one of them is named Lily and I'm their Aunt Luna and I just loved the vibe in this storyline). I loved that she's helping Carrie organize her wardrobe. I loved that she was wearing Carrie’s old knitted poncho, the one from the Single and Fabulous? episode. And when Seema came over, carrie was holding another dress i recognized, I forget the episode but they're having a picnic and she has pigtails while wearing it. And the Alexander petrofsky Paris gown. It IS stunning. Harry might be at his fighting weight but he looks better chubbier. His face is too gaunt. And I never really needed to see Harry's penis, thanks, but hey, good for them. And again I know they were joking but it still bugs that they were so incredulous that Harry and Charlotte still have oral sex. Though SJP's delivery of "Back up, back the truck up" was hilarious to me. The Chelsea Market! I love the Chelsea Market. This ep WAS better than most of the others, but I'm still so disappointed in the completely revisionist history between Steve and Miranda. And in how Miranda doesn't seem even remotely like Miranda any more. Seriously, its partly the hair. Maybe if she was a redhead again I'd recognize her.
  9. I haven't seen anyone suggesting she should stay with Steve if she isn't happy with him. They just want her to treat him with a modicum of decency and respect, maybe a little guilt and regret, and to honor what they once had at least a little bit, instead of being an idiot cheater about it all. I don't think anyone wants her with Steve anymore. He deserves so much better.
  10. It seems to me that both Charlotte and Carrie have let Miranda know they don't approve of the affair. Nobody's cheering her on.
  11. Maybe I'm just remembering edited versions of the show? My mind explodes at the idea of Charlotte eating ass. I'm guessing Miranda is now open to it, and that Che’s ass tastes like ambrosia and champagne and strawberries, cuz they're the most desirable person in NYC and beyond, you know.
  12. Also Charlotte said "Trey likes to do it", about rimming, not that she reciprocated. No way do I believe Charlotte does that, even with Harry. She didn't want his naked ass on her white furniture, let alone her face. But I imagine she came (ha) around to blow jobs with him. Speaking of Trey, Kyle McLachlan was looking very fine walking the Prada runway today. https://www.instagram.com/p/CYzCVqlLg6T/?utm_medium=copy_link
  13. Plus, surely Carrie and Miranda are just joking. Of course women in long term relationships still blow their guys. Or maybe Big never got blow jobs anymore. We know Steve doesn't. Not from Miranda anyway .
  14. I don't think it's Carrie’s responsibility to not even ask Che because of Miranda (and once again, it's creepy that Che has put their employee in the position to have to worry about her boss's sexual conquests with her friends), but good point about maybe Miranda should have been given the option of knowing Che would be there, and possibly avoiding them by not going. But we, and Carrie, know that was never going to happen. Miranda was gonna show up for whatever crumbs Che was going to give her.
  15. I've seen this sentiment over and over, but don't quite get why Carrie is such a bad friend for not mentioning it to Miranda. While it's more than likely that she's just too self absorbed to think of it, maybe she just didn't tell her because she doesn't want to encourage Miranda's weird Che obsession? She knew Miranda would see Che, wig out and go stalk her, but maybe she didn't want to actually be party to it, tell her beforehand and have to see/hear Miranda babbling like a schoolgirl about it. Carrie clearly doesn't think Che and Miranda are a good idea, for many reasons. Maybe she felt telling her beforehand would be enabling?
  16. It's my memory, though I can't find proof, that Steve was reading Proust, but I don’t have any recollection of what it was, exactly.
  17. If KD is fat, kill me now. I think SJP is more attractive then Matthew Broderick. I hope Steve says "oh thank God. I'm so tired of you, you thankless shrew. Also, I have a 36 year old girlfriend. I was just staying til Brady went to college."
  18. Because I'm a glutton for punishment, apparently, I rewatched. And I agree with the post about Steve being cute during the terrible attempted sex scene. He was taken by surprise, but he almost immediately tried to get into it, and Miranda did NOT really try. She was using him, and she was frankly a heinous bitch about it all. And did she really say that 27 second finger bang in Carrie's kitchen was the most transcendent sex of her life? That's not pathetic or anything. Also, this show is way overestimating how much I want to see CN semi naked and having sex. Also, I know she's a really good actor, and I know all the heavy breathing is meant to denote unbridled passion and all, but it just makes me think CN really hasn't ever HAD transcendent sex. But since I'm being so hateful about her, I will say that she looked really cute at the farmers market in her green jacket and jeans. Why don’t they all dress like that a little more often? I still don't think Carrie was judging the teacher or blaming him for the bad datw, she was just embarrassed and didn't want to repeat it. I'm a huge Dear Evan Hansen fan but I missed the kids were singing You Will be Found at the auction the first time. I do think they're making Miranda super casual about having sex outside of her marriage, and also with someone who is not a man. This is neurotic, analytical Miranda. Che identifies as non-binary but possesses boobs and bodily parts Miranda hasn't, you know, worked with in bed before. I'd just think there'd be some reaction or questions or angst or something about it at some point. Maybe CN had no such reaction, maybe it just all felt natural to her, but I really think Miranda would react differently. But we barely know this Miranda. Liked the Billie Eilish song at the end.
  19. I'd feel bad if Aidan's divorced but I guess it wouldn't be shocking if he is.
  20. The way they're trashing Steve, I would no longer be surprised if everybody winds up single again at the end of this, so maybe Harry's next in the trash bin. Charlotte was definitely treating him with some disdain this episode, for no apparent reason
  21. I didn't understand the Charlotte stuff either. Is this supposed to be indicative of greater probs in the relationship, or was it just to parallel the fight the Wexlers were having later, or was it just meant to be funny? It wasn't very funny. I can't see Charlotte talking to Harry like that, for basically no reason. How weird is it that Carrie was, by far, the most likable of the women this ep? She looked good too, and I liked most of her outfits. She IS playing the "Big died" card a lot, but that seems normal, and Anthony telling her she only got one more of those was funny. Her memoir made me think of Joan Didion's Year of Magical Thinking, tho no way is Carrie the caliber of writer that Didion was. I'd read her book tho. I didn't think she was looking down on her date when she was trying to dodge him, tho maybe I missed some dialogue. I just thought she'd seen it as a disastrous date she didn't want to be reminded of. And ugh, that auction was also disastrous, and humiliating. Nice that he bailed her out. Its funny how many people, when we first saw leaked photos of the date, thought that guy was Berger. I don't see the resemblance myself. Ugh, Che. Ugh, Miranda. Ugh, how they've destroyed Steve and the entire history of him and Miranda. I never thought I'd loathe Miranda, but this did it. She's gross. Che is a smarmy player and I hope she treats Miranda horribly, which is not how I should be feeling about a character I once liked. And its bad that its also influencing my opinion of Cynthia Nixon. I have a feeling this might all be leading to Aidan, and much as I love John Corbett, I hope I'm wrong. We don't need Aidan's character assassinated too.
  22. I think Sara Ramirez is attractive, and when they still publicly identified as a woman,, i thought they were gorgeous. They still have charisma, but i just can't with that hair. I hate it on anyone. Che's swaggery machismo isn't attractive to me, and I wouldn’t think it would be to Charlotte even in straight-woman fantasy land, but who knows. I'm boringly hetero, but if I ever fantasize about women, they're as far from men as possible: girly, voluptuous, hyper feminine. Kind of how SR once looked. But Che is non binary anyhow, so i suppose this is all moot. I hated Carrie and Big's affair, I remember being appalled by it. While it's kind of ballsy ( esp back then, before so many show protagonists were anti-heroes and meth/mob kingpins and serial killers) to make your shows's supposed heroine a big, lying cheater, it was still off putting to me. Big cheating wasn't shocking, he'd already been established as that. And Carrie falling back under his spell wasn't surprising either. It was all tacky and gross and I felt bad for Natasha, but I got it. But Carrie staying with Aidan and telling him she loved him while actively banging Big was really infuriating to me. I don't even think most of us are necessarily judging Miranda for the Che infatuation or her reawakening or whatever they want to call it. It’s just the complete lack of respect for Steve and their history that is pissing so many off. That and Miranda's complete lack of apparent remorse. This was kind of funny: I watch a Spanish show on HBOMAX called Dafne and the rest (Todo lo Otro) and I hate dubbing, so I always have to reset the closed captioning to English and the audio to Spanish. When I first turned on the new ep of AJLT, Carrie and Anthony were speaking Spanish, so I had to reset. Apparently when I did, I hit the 'full dynamic range' option, which narrates what the actors are doing, gestures and facial expressions, for the hearing impaired. It’s intermittent, and took me a few minutes to catch on. But a woman’s voice informed me that Seema and Anthony were curling their fists into tiger-paws, then that Carrie’s eyes were scanning the room, then that Lily was before a mirror applying lip gloss. I for real thought we had the Carrie-like voiceover, except it wasn't Carrie. I was so confused for a couple minutes. Ha.
