you mean how bad Courtney's was? I saw that they displayed her creation last; I imagine that wasn't necessarily the order they went in. -

Being able to meow like a cat is not a super power. It's just damn annoying. I was so confused about 1 and 6 being the best spots for white elephant. That's because the one time I did this, I was number 1 and they didn't have the "last chance" thing. I got a terrible gift, and sat with it for the whole rest of the exchange since no one wanted it! -

^Thanks for that! Even though I get the NYT, I missed that! LOL, just the opposite of Noel's pants. Every time I looked at them, I felt a distinct discomfort in my thighs!

Maybe the editors think the hair flipping is charming to the viewers. Personally I can't stand it.- 2.4k replies

what's funny is that while they did show a package of Rolos on top of the vat of candies, from then on they called them "caramel candies." So I guess they didn't pay very much for the sponsorship! -

The "top" to her first bake was very very hard, so they did the whole stabbing it with the fork to show how hard it was. I was only half paying attention, so when I looked at courtney's triffle (which I thought was a cake) I was so impressed by all those clear bubbles on the side, wondering how she did it, and also wondering why the judges didn't remark on it. It was only when I saw the next one with the same bubbles that I realized it was the triffle dish LOL.- 2.4k replies

Just started watching the new season of dalgliesh. And given my observation that there seem to be only 100 British actors in crime TV, I was surpised/not surprised to see Dr. Thomas Chamberlain in clerical garb.

Hers was SO much better than his. No contest in my opinion.

I wasn't even following it and got spoiled; FB pushed the story to me because, I guess, the internet knows all.

This is the restaurant Dylan is working at (from the link above, in case you just want to cut to the chase) https://www.fivefieldsrestaurant.com/

Maybe I have a dirty mind but I thought it was ... R-rated. Georgie's cake was gorgeous. It totally blew the other two out of the water, looks wise. Other years I've noticed some post-production cgi of the cake plate to say "baking show." They didn't bother this time, I guess because you had to be looking hard to see it. (I was)

I think the term for this episode is "jumped the shark."

I was too lazy to go back and check, but did they put plates of six cookies on the table for each other the taste, and then another six for the judges? I was thinking, "wait, they are going to finish off those platters!" -
google on my phone seems to know that I'm interested in the topic, showing me a headline right below the search field, so now I'm scared to use it.

I haven't been able to tell she's a home baker from her performance. She's awfully good. -
I keep seeing poor shannon strapped into that chair in her white pants, wondering "when the heck does she get a chance to use the toilet"?"

I will admit to reading the Cross books, and to me, the book Alex is a lot more cerebral, less rough-around-the-edges. It doesn't bother me; it's just not how I imagined him. Of course by now in the books, Alex's kids are basically grown up, not little school kids, so maybe he mellowed :)

I loved The Good Place, and this one has a lot of promise (I've only seen the first episode)

S15.E09: Patisserie Week - Semi-final
dleighg replied to TVbitch's topic in The Great British Bake Off
wasn't Georgie's basket amazing? And Dylan's avocado! I think they said the pit was covered in caramel? It looked more like chocolate to me. I was a bit surprised that Paul didn't mention that Georgie's blackberries were.... much larger than blackberries and looked a bit cartoonish. I get it, you can't make it blackberry size, so I guess that's what you have to do. -

I was so impressed with those showstoppers! I think the right person went home, and the reasoning came down to what Paul foreshadowed earlier- that if it was really close, they would use previous performance as a tie-breaker.- 53 replies

and didn't she get dinged for not enough flavor in her cake? Serves her right. The hair flipping is SO annoying. -

Now that I have watched the second episode, the carolers were much worse than I expected. -

So I gather they had two episodes last night? I kept thinking "WHAT CAROLERS?" I wish Courtney with her little girl voice and hair flipping went away. And Megan continues to annoy me. She certainly knows where the camera is and what expression to use for it. I'll have to watch the second one now. -
I don't find that. Since I'm typically making banana bread, I let it thaw a bit and the peel comes right off.
