Wow. Caroline Kennedy, former ambassador to Japan, on today with Savannah. So this is what a 64 year old woman looks like with no work done to her face. She also has a little speech oddity to me. She seems really nice though.
-
Savannah and Al back in NY already? Why? Pretty lame. Edit - I see it is to interview the athletes coming back to the states, like Caleb. Meh.

So all 6 women gymnasts won some sort of medal, whether individual or team? That is great!!!πΊπΈπ π€Έπππ₯

Ugh. Another scholar. New "family" member Yamas butchering the language. "Hoda, you and me..." Something about watching the games. π

What is so special about this guy that Kayee and Jessica are dueling about? He is dull and doughy to me. Does he have money or something? Seems the gold digger could set her sights higher for a sugar daddy.

Oh great. Another sentence butcher.π Butcher er?π€

Ugh. I hated that scene in the autopsy room. Too CSI for me. That's one of the reasons I don't watch that show or those other ones like it on networks. Too gratuitous for me. I don't remember, have they ever done that before, showing recreated remains like that?

No Jersey couples tonight? Bummer.

Closing Ceremony: Winter's Only A Few Months Away
seasons replied to Meredith Quill's topic in 2021 Olympic Games
I'm confused. Since athletes have to leave within 48 hours of their last event because of covid restrictions, won't there be very few athletes at the closing ceremony? -
I love road trips too. Did they sleep in the back of the car?π€

Wow, to be young and beautiful and healthy and happy starting your new life together. They both seem so normal (in a good way). Loved when he winked at her as she walked towards him down the aisle. Lol side eye from Auj as Tori read her speech, which was nice. Notice no hashtags, Auj.π Amy sure scurried when that bouquet landed near her. I guess she got it. I did like that dress on Amy. Well done speech by Matt. "Molly Glue". Too bad though she's probably seen and heard a lot growing up she will surely avoid in her married life. Does she have a chance of having a little person?

What I noticed from the last episode was that the leg bowing was seeming to cause J to walk on the inside of both feet. So I'm guessing that is factored in as well - the feet can't be developing normally with that kind of step. Ugh poor kid. -
D&S are 46 years old. I know they've had a shit ton of work done on themselves, but I will say their skin is beautiful. All over. Even their hands. I wonder if they get injections in their hands like Joan Rivers used to do.

I've been thinking about the athletes a lot lately. Simone, those that have trained forever and then can't compete because of a positive covid test, etc. Imagine being a gymnast from years ago before they knew what twisties were, just that it was maybe at best some sort of spatial disorientation, or at worst, all in the gymnast's head! The shame and confusion that some of them must have felt breaks my heart. π And at least now we have a better understanding of mental health as well. Sort of. π₯

Ugh. Poor Jade. She seems like such a good kid. I wonder if she will decide to continue the sport. So glad to see Suni win the gold. I was kinda glad to see our girls - and other athletes as well - seemed to ditch the heavy stage makeup. But which has now been replaced by those fucking eyelash extensions. I hate them. They all look so fake to me. Like Bessie The Cow.

Ugh, Savannah made sure to pack another ugly dress. Yellow gingham or something with puffy short sleeves and a lace-up neckline. Complete with a princess crystal headband or something. At almost 50 years old she can't make this look work. I'll bet her shoes are ugly too.

I wonder if part of the pressure on these athletes must be worrying about the disappointment you think those around you might be feeling - parents, coaches etc who have sacrficed so much time and money on your training. So much for so long. Competitors that you beat previously that you worry actually might do a better job than you at this level. In other words, the blood, sweat and tears of those that have supported you for years. The expectations and such of your support team. Your actual teammates. I'm a big time worrier and used to be a big time people pleaser so this is what goes through my head. And it is wrong probably to think that way, your support team just wants you to do your best, but the self blame must be awful for some top competitors. Hope this makes sense.

Olympic Fashions: Does This Uniform Make Me Look Fat?
seasons replied to Good Queen Jane's topic in 2021 Olympic Games
I'm sure this has been asked before, but... Beach volleyball - women wear next to nothing, men wear baggy tank top and shorts. Gymnastics - women wear leotards cut practically up to their armpits, men wear loose pants or shorts. Diving - men wear micro panties (hate the word "panties" but that's what they are!) Women's swimming wear cool long and lean racer-back uniforms that go down to practically their knees Really I'm not a prude but I just don't get the sexualization of the athletes in this way, especially when these outfits don't seem to enhance performance. Am I missing something? -
Re: Rowdy Gaines - I have a sleeping schedule which is mostly that of a vampire so I'm up at night enjoying the overnight coverage where Rowdy seems to be. I totally and seriously respect and appreciate his accomplishments, and love his enthusiasm, but it sometimes startles me if I happen to doze off and hear his excitement! But for insomniacs like me, the overnight coverage is pretty awesome. Also the SNBC channel!

Tori was a kindergarten or first grade teacher, right? Probably not for too long though, maybe a few years, before she left when she had Jackson. I taught special ed in a public school for nearly 20 years before I had to retire early for health reasons. I can imagine / speculate what kind of young teacher Tori was based on how she disciplines Jackson. Too loose, no consistency, laughing and giggling, etc. Even toddlers figure out how to outsmart parents and teachers like that. You could often tell what kind of classroom these young teachers were running just by walking by the room and sensing the loose vibe. We veteran teachers also noticed that the young teachers coming in so often demonstrated a sense of entitlement, even though they were just starting and had so much to learn. Had no idea that at almost any job, you are at the bottom of the totem pole until you work your way up and prove yourself. I get a sense that T fits right into that mindset. Sure, some veteran teachers were too set in their ways and wouldn't let it be a two way street, that we could all learn from each other. T& Z almost seem to be just playing house in their immaturity in more ways than one. -

I seriously just imagined that music from the wizard of oz when the wicked witch comes along as Amy was walking along with Felix. Her energy is just so negative to me, even coming across the tv. That's her, not just editing imo. -

I do wonder if Tori will forever wonder if this baby was the non dwarf girl that she wanted, so I do feel bad for that. -

Amy said she was "easy going" . Chris is caving in on the rock thing. He'd better get used to it. She is awful. -

God, even cleaning up the rocks has to be her way or she plays a head game with him and shuts down, so when she doesn't get her way she blames him for being on his own his whole life. She is awful. -

Chris must be eating that slop Amy puts together. Or something. That belly is getting bigger and bigger. Doughy.
