  1. None taken. Though my Catholic roots sometimes take over the Mormon conversion and I say, "Jesus, Mary, & Joseph." A lot.
  2. Minot? If so, I've been thru there on the train. Wait, this seems vaguely familiar. Did we talk about this before?
  3. Shoot, shoot, shoot -- I got bored (you people aren't posting fast enough) and went to look at my email. I got a message asking me to do the opening prayer this Sunday. Darn. No skipping out now. I wonder if anyone would notice if I came in in my pjs and a robe, said the prayer, and ran out? 😒
  4. I forgot - I loved hearing Dr Now say, "I'm going to adjust his perspective." I bet he said that to his kids when they were growing up. Aliya jr and I had 'attitude adjustments.' And - I don't believe a thing Steven says. At all. Ever.
  5. Couldn't decide if I could stand looking at Steven Assanti again. I will if you will... Jeez - his legs are like the elephant man.
  6. OMGoodness - "Lard Luck Story"? Love those UK newspapers. He and the girlfriend split years ago. Why is he still eating pizza in an attempt to drown his sorrows? I do know that he's been in and out of the hospital with cellulitis and I think he had to have a toe amputated. I'm sure all of this is rough, but damn. I remember his UK show. He lost his parents' house due to the expenses from his eating. How do you do that? The house they worked for, you just use to feed your gaping maw. You should be ashamed.
  7. I watched the rerun yesterday (I think) and she just grated on me big time. The little girl voice, the failure to help herself even though she had young kids who needed her (and their own space), everything. Her legs did look horrific. If any of us looked like that, we'd be begging for a 30 day water fast to bring down the weight, but this woman can't even eat some chicken and broccoli. I noticed her eyes - I wonder if she has thyroid issues? Also, she seemed to doze off when Dr Now was speaking. She said her breathing was OK, but I wonder if she didn't suffer from oxygen deprivation - or maybe sleep apnea, which would make her sleepy during the day.
  8. Because... Iowa: deer can't read eta - I'm a FB friend of Paul Mason, formerly the fattest man in the UK. He's lived in the US for the past 5 years, initially to get skin removal surgery that they wouldn't approve on the NHS. I've seen him go in and out of the hospital and have various health problems. I haven't seen him around much and just now he posted that he has to go back to the UK because he let his visa run out and other stupid stuff. I could tell from the picture that he had gained weight and he admitted being around 500 pounds, up from 275. He talked about getting therapy and financial benefits in the UK to try and turn things around. It's kind of sad - and shows that the morbidly obese are probably fighting additional demons that keep them from maintaining weight loss.
  9. So, they don't put you to sleep for cataract surgery. You get something that doesn't make you care that you can see the shadow of a long metal thing in your eye. Anyway, it's all over, I'm fine and I say, "Did you give me anything? 'Cause I feel fine." Laughs all around the OR.
  10. I liked that Dr Now was patting VNA's shoulder in the OR. That said, I am so going to hell because all I could think of was a scene from Beavis and Butthead, where Butthead is patting the hand of a pilot after a crash and saying, "Don't die and stuff." Aliya jr and I say this to each other all the time if we feel sick - a feeble little pat on the hand and a "don't die and stuff."
  11. Spaghetti really hikes my blood sugar, but I have had a little rice. The difference now is, I measure it out whereas previously, I'd have a bowl of rice w/stuff on top.
  12. A Michigan Cornish pasty. When I was a young bride in Ann Arbor, my late husband used to beg me to make these. I never learned how - though I'm sure I could do it now. His mom was from the UP and our son spent summers between A2 & the UP, so all I heard was "Why don't we have pasties?"
  13. I'm sorry - it looks like she's got a panty liner strapped to her head.
  14. Yeah. We're 4 hrs away in Iowa and my son goes to or through Chicago a few times a year. He times his travel for early morning so he can avoid the Chicago area during peak travel times. Also - none of their friends have $100 so they can get a cheap motel room for the night? I understand they don't work, but jeez, their friends aren't doing well, either.
  15. Who the heck packs up the documents they need to show their income? Why would you even bring old documents?
  16. 'Cause they might get hit by a semi while they pick up stuff in the middle of the interstate?
  17. I have been doing IF for over 2 months now. So far, just skipping breakfast, but that's huge for me as I was always told breakfast is important, and being diabetic, they beat u over the head about skipping meals. The thing is, when they say eat 3 meals and 2 snacks, your body is always processing food, and since the ADA says its OK for a female to eat 175 gms of carbs a day, you've always got carbs in your system. I've reduced meds and working on getting off of them by doing low carb/semi keto most of the time. I want to do OMAD, but am afraid to do it at work. I think I should start with a longer window and then work on shortening it. I'm losing weight, so this craziness is paying off.
  18. Fair enough - but Dr Now's diet, and many, many other diets that work if you just follow them, are on the internet. They could have started to diet, even if they still need Dr Now's expertise to do the surgery. The snack thing doesn't sound completely wrong, but it's probably not going to work out well for them.
  19. "You don't know, huh?" Love ya, Dr Now. He's getting a bit more casual in his speech.
  20. Is the same day? They're eating all that food in the same day - actually it looks like the same 1/2 hour. Wow.
  21. My grandmother was a wonderful person - but that didn't stop her from telling us to go outside and get our own switch off the bush in the yard.
  22. Whoa! That's a stack of pancakes. I'm just gonna say, maybe these people aren't all wrong about their eating choices. 😄
  23. I think Olivia, who lived in the basement, was from Chicago. I could be wrong.
