  2. I'm guessing that Freddie is alive, but I'm not sure that really gets Will out of the moral complexity he's put himself in and I'm not sure that I'd want it to. Like I said before, I think he will regret not shooting Hannibal when he had the chance...if it were me, I'd prefer being put back in that asylum to what this fishing expedition is doing to him now. That ménage-whatever was waaay too long. I'm no prude or anything, but it dragged on so long that I got up to get a cup of tea during it. Yawn. This episode was just a bit too stylish for my taste. I usually like the balance they hit with the creepy and beauty, but I think they were trying too hard with this one. Overall though, it wasn't bad and it did move things along a bit.

  4. I think it's probably a whacky fit for any network...although, AMC might be the best. It's really a show in a class of it's own and doesn't fit any demographic well and I don't think it will matter where it ends up, I tend to think it will never draw huge numbers. It's not that kind of show. In this day and age of DVRs and online streaming and such, does it really matter where it's broadcast from, people will find it either way if they want to watch it.
  5. Sure it can make sense, but does it make it interesting? Also, I think it's a big hurdle for them when there are no limits on the monster's abilities. It makes no sense that werewolves that can control their nature or shifters that can be anything at any given time or any other monster that has no limit to it's ability hasn't taken over the world. This is why I generally loath vampire stories as well. Humans should be living in pens like the leviathans were planning if these clans of organized monster families exist. Also, they can't really put them in any real danger because, I for one, will not believe they actually are in danger. This is exactly why the writers have been complaining about Castiel for the last four years.

  7. Actually, in S6, only the Alpha shifted without shedding his skin. In Two And A Half Men, the shifter that comes after the baby at the beginning of the episode shed his skin just like all the others--Dean grabbed a bit of it in the grocery store and there was a pile of goo outside of the cop car after he shifted into the cop (he/she, what is the appropriate sex of something that can be anything?) Also, the baby splat goo all over the wall when it shifted. Sam killed that shifter with a silver bullet, just like all previous shifters, in the motel room and then the Alpha came for the baby at the Campbell Base Of Ridiculousness. The Alpha was the only one that could do "new" things. And just because I was watching this episode last night, I'll throw another little tidbit at ya...the previouslies have clips from other shifter episodes where they flat out tell us that shifters shed their skin when they shift (I thought it was kinda funny in light of the debate about shifters in Bloodlines.) Also, remember that in S6 the monsters were more monster-y due to Eve's influence, after Eve died I assumed that the monsters went back to status quo--so any "new" abilities that cropped up in S6 should be null and void by now. Honestly though, I'm not too worked up over a few canon changes with a new show, as long as they stay consistent within their own universe. It did slightly annoy me here because this was supposed to be an episode of SPN, which means they should have stayed consistent with Supernatural's established rules, but it wasn't the worst thing that they did so... . Whether it was a CW concept/mandate or not, these guys made it and stamped their names on it, it's theirs now. And, I would imagine that the CW asked for certain things, but I also can imagine how one could take the things that the CW asked for and still manage to twist it into my own original creation. To me, this stunk of them throwing everything in the pot knowing that people would show up and eat it no matter how crappy the stew turned out.
  8. My list varies depending on my mood, but today...S2, S3, S1, S4, S7, S6, S5, S8, S9. When thinking of watching Supernatural my default generally runs to S2. I really feel like this is when the show hit it's stride and really excelled in storytelling. It was creative, but still fun and a joy to watch. Favorites are always hard to pick from this season because there's so many good ones and even the not-so-good ones have moments of pure gold that I treasure. Lately, S1 and S3 have been very close seconds on re-watch. S3 has more episodes that I really get drawn into, but S1 has the best sense of atmosphere and adventure, so it just depends on my mood. S4 has recently downgraded a bit for me since I feel that so much of what the show relies on now--brother angst, angels/demons and the over oppressing depression--started here. However a few of my all-time favorite episodes lie here and if nothing else I think this may have been one of the more creative seasons they have managed to put together. S6 and S7 are pretty close for me and I rather enjoy both of those seasons **ducks all the rotten tomatoes being thrown**. I find them to be far less offensive than the current season and actually enjoyed many of the arcs and themes, but mostly a lot of the stand alones are favorite ones for me. Oh, poor S5. At one time I didn't find this season to be so offensive, but as time has marched on I have become tired of the oppressing angst and grimness. Originally, I though they would break the boys up and then bring them back together and be done with it, I was wrong and now I'm sick of it. Plus, they really failed to stick the landing at the end of the season. Still though, there are a couple of really golden episodes here. S8 and S9 have just been a lot of nonsensical irritation for me. It's become so much of a soapy, melodramatic and boring shell of what it used to be. I think I'm coming to terms with it though and am starting to just take it for what it is and no longer have any higher expectations, but it's not been an easy road for me. For some reason though, I can't seem to stop watching.

  10. Well, that was just horrible. Oh well, my expectations were low, so I wasn't actually disappointed. When did these guys got from making a quirky, unique little show to making the same boring crap this is every other show on the CW? I'll never understand people's desire to make more of the same rather than taking the opportunity to try something different.

  13. Yeah, I don't think that Hannibal is as interested in any of his patients the way he's been interested in Will. I think he usually sets something in motion just to see what will happen, with Will he keeps interjecting himself into the narrative and guiding some of the events rather than sitting back to see the outcome. I'm not sure that he wants the perfect friend out of Will, but definitely doesn't want to loose his favorite pet.

  16. Yeah, I think Will will lose (and has lost) a bit of himself on this fishing trip--but I also think he knows that to some degree and is sacrificing himself in-order to catch Hannibal. I think some of his playing with Hannibal is him in control and some is him being drawn in by some of these darker impulses. Isn't catching Hannibal supposed to be the case that pushes Will over the edge and prompts him to leave the FBI in the books?

  21. Or even better yet, stop talking and kill them. Seriously, shut the hell up and you may survive an encounter with the Winchesters. I thought is was a really slow and uninteresting episode...more of the same stand-around-and-talk that they seem to like as of late. Personally, I am not finding this Dark Dean story very interesting or appealing, but I think Jensen is really enjoying it so I let him have it. I'm so tired of vampires, they seem to be everywhere anymore and I've never found SPN's take on them to be particularly more interesting than anyone else's--same goes for werewolves. I miss the days when they brought us new clever twists on old monsters. They did elicit a smile out of me when Jodi climbed into the back of Baby though--not many female characters get this honor--you go girl! And I was glad to see that not only did Jodi survive, but she's also not the friendly neighborhood monster now. I thought Sam was choosing his words very carefully there--it's not that Dean enjoyed it, he was showing off and having far more fun than Dean usually would. Killing monsters is a means to an end for Dean, he does it to save lives and help people while getting to let off a little steam himself--he's never been proud of it before or not felt the weight of it. I didn't see Sam as judging him for killing a monster, but was concerned at how un-Dean like he did it. Not saying that I cared for Jared's performance much, just that Sam didn't seem all that judgy to me, just concerned. As far as the 2x4--to be fair, they both get hit in the head and thrown up against and through things that they should never survive all the time. I wouldn't put too much stock in the idea that it means anymore this time than it did when Dean got thrown at least 40 feet, through a window and up against a wall in The Song Remains The Same and got up like nothing ever happened. (I was watching this episode the other night and my first thought was "how did that not kill Dean.")

  23. I don't really remember in the shower itself--maybe it washed off ;)--but in front of the mirror he had it.
  24. Oh, I know and I agree. I was just saying that if there was a backstory here, I wouldn't mind seeing it. I totally get why Alana doesn't trust Will's judgment, but even last season she was 100% trusting of Hannibal about Abigail. It just seems like there could be more to this mentor/friend/colleague business and could make for interesting story and I for one wouldn't mind seeing it.
