  1. I liked it, not perfect, but better than some finales. They ended on hopeful notes for everyone, Jill married and pregnant, Tammy with her own business and boyfriend, Marjorie reconciled with her son and now babysitting her granddaughter, and Bonnie strong enough to help Adam through this cancer scare or treatment. Wendy remained somewhat a mystery, but that's okay. I liked the new mother/daughter, particularly as the actresses were veterans from other Lorre shows, Melanie Lynskey from Two and a Half Men (Rose) and Rondi Reed from Mike & Molly (Peggy). I think it was a good time to end it, am curious as to why, Alison Janney has her theories but isn't saying. My guess is money. CBS didn't want to pay the cast what they would want for another round. But who knows, maybe they'll do a reunion special sometime. I hope so. I was rather hoping we'd see Christy's kids in one of the later episodes, maybe a bit of Baxter. Its really too bad Christy left before this season. I'm sure she had her reasons, but the show lost something special with her departure.
  2. Yes, but I'm so glad they didn't kill off the character. I liked this episode, and how much it meant to Bonnie that Trevor chose to keep being her therapist over dating Jill. Wonder how they will end the show, hope its a good one.
  3. I was shocked by the reveal that Ainsley faked it, makes me wonder when she remembered. Bellamy Young is my favorite character, glad she is getting more facets of her character revealed. I think CZJ looks as she does for character reasons, Jessica as a character has expensive clothes, hair and makeup while CZJ is playing a doctor in the psychiatric hospital. I think its great she joined the cast, gives Martin someone to interact with outside his family unit. Malcolm is falling apart, I can see him having a breakdown soon.
  4. I have a feeling Ainsley didn't kill anyone this time, maybe not the 1st one either. I think she's being set up, maybe even by Martin. Martin would love to bring his kids to the dark side.

    S01.E04: Fall

Surprised I'm the only semi-obsessive GG fan that watched the CW 4 night run of A Year in the Life. But I'm okay being the one and only! My thoughts-- 1. Loved everything Emily, realized I relate more to her now and loved her letting go of her old married self to emerge as Emily in Nantucket, still with Richard's portrait but no DAR, no big house. And that she finangled another deal out of Lorelei's need for money. Can well picture L/L spending two torturous weeks with her every summer plus Christmas. Huzzah Emily! 2. Loved seeing all the Star's Hollowites, I've missed them all. 3. Michel -had the best lines of the revivial IMO. Loved the arc they put him on, including his interviewing candidates for his job. When he asked Molly if she had brought kleenex and she said yes his response -"you should get them out now" was great. 4. Sookie. Don't have to explain this one, and although I wish Sookie had been in the series more, I did love the rotating kitchen staff every season, so obvious no one could take her place at the Dragonfly. 5. Paris -loved her over the top agressiveness, the surrogate subplot was weird except it gave a reason to have more Paris. Loved her and Rory going back to Chilton for alumni day and Paris grilling the Headmaster on all the furnishings etc like she owned the place. 6. Luke-he didn't have any grand issues, makes sense as he's long known who he is and what he wants. Loved his reliability and the wifi thing. Typical Luke not to want to go with the times. 7. Lorelei -never quite figured out why she was unhappy, and what revelation she had that made her think !marriage! that will fix it. Did enjoy the whole Wild crew around the campfire and showing Lorelei walking up the trail muttering -I hate the outdoors! Loved the moments with her and Rory, as many posted I didn't like some of the filler like the Summer musical. Thought the wedding was perfect, and can imagine the big wedding the next day being so festive and relaxed. And of course Lorelei told Sookie to bring all the cakes. 8. Jess/Dean -loved the scene with Dean in the store, perfect. They, I think, left it vague whether Jess still loved Rory or not, so we can imagine the possibilities. Did like that he gave Rory the umph to do the book. 9. Rory and Rory/Logan -I totally sympathized with Rory's job struggles. Once you're out in the working world, it doesn't really matter where you went to school, and the skills to succeed are different than the ones that help one excel in the classroom. What about Paul as the father? Yes Rory didn't see him much but she didn't break up with him until Fall and presumably they saw each other on occasion and had sex. Logan/Matt, as many have said, had crazy chemistry with Rory/Alexis. But I can't see Rory being happy moving to London and being the wife of the Huntzberger heir apparent with all the socializing and trappings of wealth. Rory has always been betwixt and between, grew up in small town and regular people but then went to Chilton and Yale where her peers were mostly ultra-wealthy and snobbish. I can't see her living in that world, although she's adept at visiting it. They did play it that Rory wanted Logan to choose her and in the end he was passive and didn't acknowledge her hints. His loss. I've no doubt he will be unhappy without her. Maybe he chucks it all and moves to Star's Hollow. Anyway I've no doubt Rory will have a girl, name her Emily, and have a wonderful if challenging life.
  6. It was very common for gay men to marry until recently for a variety of reasons. It was thought that being gay was something to "get over", a failing or a passing fad. Some men wanted family, only way back then was to marry. Some hid their orientation from themselves, at least for many years. Leonard is mad at his dad for cheating on his mom, understandable, but I would guess the father wrestled with his desires for years. This may come back again, maybe something will make Leonard realize its not all black and white. However the dad is a tool, and still puts Leonard down, so I'm fine if he disappears and isn't seen on screen again. I've wondered why Will became a vicar, have they explained this? He seems too green to run his own parish. Did like the ending of the season, with Will and Geordie on the patio with everyone celebrating inside. They kinda wrapped everything up in case it was the end. Satisfying, although if Will needs a frequent toss in the hay (so to speak) to be relaxed he needs to find a girl amenable to being "the vicar's wife". Maybe that will be next season's challenge.
  7. I thought they were in 1955, at least that is when the movie was made that was showing in the theatre during the episode where the projectionist was killed.
  8. The storyline with Cathy's mom was one i wasn't expecting and thought they did a great job with it. I do fear for her being sent into treatment given what Leonard said and Will's experience with the academic psychologists. What a mess. I like Ellie, but the whole romance between her and Will seems forced and very not mid - 1950s, especially for a member of the clergy. They almost have sex in an alley on the 1st date? Then she accuses him of humiliating her by not continuing when they start going at it in the vicarage? In that time, the humiliation would have been to think a woman was available for sex outside of marriage, not the other way round. And you'd think before dating her Will and she would have talked about her views on religion. No sense pursuing a relationship if she isn't of the same faith.
  9. That's a good take, I was thinking it was more to hurry things along as he knew he was high and so not so able to deal with a long labor or complications. He was planning to slip away when Sr. Frances told him Yvonne was about to deliver the baby. He seemed unhappy about the timing.
  10. I think Sister Jullianne ate a chocolate bar in the movies. The whole point though was to step outside of her bubble to get a better idea of what regular women have to deal with, the slights as people bumped into her and didn't apologize etc. Her indulging at the movies gave her (I think) the epiphany that seeing a movie and a little chocolate isn't such a frivolous thing to do on occasion. I agree with you on Beryl, I thought it was more short-term aid as Marion got used to raising the baby. I didn't think it will be full time or last forever. But it was a way for the sisters to reconnect, and in the end Beryl wanted her sister and baby to thrive.
  11. I agree. I don't want her to slip with the alcoholism again, but its been a long time since she's had a romance of any kind. For a few seasons I thought they concentrated on her search for love too much, but now they've gone the other way and she's not been dating at all. I enjoyed all the storylines last night, I felt the horror when Yvonne was in pain and yelling "why did you cut me" and Sister Frances looking on in horror. McNulty looked inept to say the least. I thought the midwives had cured McNulty and the others of their tendency to reach for the scalpal but I guess not. Worse is that he did it not just for expediency but as he was high and had siphoned off some of her meds. Loved Yvonne's scathing takedown of him, saying he was just like all the other men, a little scared boy inside. Val visiting her Gran was hard, seems something is seriously wrong there. I think Lucille was expecting her beau to suggest marriage when he said he had an idea of how they could see much more of each other, and then her face fell when he said they should help with the cub scouts.
  12. I've heard that too, or that they cut different things than PBS but still edit. I wonder why, and is there anyway to see the full episodes?
  13. you know, I think they backtracked on her having dementia to keep her on the show. Maybe when they were developing the storyline the plan was either to have the actress leave the show (as so many others have) or maybe they thought the show wasn't going to get as many seasons as it has. Its odd for someone like me, my mom has Alz, but I just roll with it as I so like Sister Monica Joan.
  14. my guess is that this wasn't meant to be the season finale prior to covid? Seemed unfinished, but maybe it was meant that way, Becky running after Emilio, Jackie making random comments at the border. I was flabergasted to learn that Darlene has evidently been living with her dad for years and not helping out with the mortgage, and as the boyfriend notes -she's 43! I could understand it at the beginning but once she started working she should have been putting into the pot. Dan might not have liked it, maybe that's the angle. But for Ben to try and convince Darlene that she shouldn't help her dad signals to me there may be a breakup coming. Even though he came around in the end.
  15. Thanks - I must have missed that bit of dialogue.
  16. I'm old enough that I remember the times before the rubella vaccine was available. I was a kid, but I remember my mom telling me that rubella was not a big deal for most people except if you were going to have a baby. I remember being sobered by that thought, although I didnt know any babies born that had been exposed. On May, didn't the Turners think May's mother was dead? I imagine if so Miss Tang had to provide proof she was the child's mother. Back then it was hard to single women to be moms, especially without family support, and that was the main basis the Turners have in their favor for keeping her. These days it would be harder to justify, even if the child were to be traumatized by being returned after a long period. I am not sure May remembered Miss Tang at all, and I didn't like that she became more strident as May clung to Sheilagh. Kids often don't remember much before the age of 5. I didn't anyway. Good storyline for Sister Monica Joan this week, and also liked the kitchen scene with the Dr. and Sister Frances. One thing jarring about his return -when the young men left last time, the midwives and Sisters agreed that alternate accommodations would need to be identified, that they weren't going to have the Dr.s stay at Nonnatus again. And then the Dr. is put in the attic room, no discussion or explanation given.
  17. I haven't seen the show much this season, so was shocked by the whole Darlene wants a baby storyline. She just hasn't been that kind of women, and she has 2 kids already. Understand why Ben wants one, of course. Darlene was my least favorite character last night. Actually I haven't connected to her much since Roseanne died, somehow Darlene seemed less cynical with Roseanne around.
  18. thought it was absolutely perfect, up to the new sign welcoming all to Schitt's Creek with the Roses replacing the Schitts. I'm glad they ended it with "the kids' in front of the motel arms around their shoulders while Moira and Johnny drove off. Wouldn't feel right if they had shown the actual move from the motel. The part of the documentary I found most interesting was the role of fashion in the show. As I am not a fashionista, I didn't realize how much time and money was spent on wardrobe, especially for Moira.
  19. Dan said a while back that the Roses could reappear at some point, like a special update or reunion show. I know anything like that would be quite a ways out, but the fact that he said it means to me the show will end in a way that it would work to bring them back together. Think it makes sense that most of not all of them will discover the town is their home after all.
  20. I particularly liked this episode, love them all, but this one was particularly delicious. Moments like Moira assuming the party is for her and cutting the cake, David assuming Patrick would be excited to move to NY, Johnny showing us a bit of the tycoon Rose of old. Like many of you, I also think most of the Roses will stay in town, David and Patrick for their store, Johnny and Moira due to having to remain close to the product -roadside motels, to get the chain off the ground, and for promotion purposes. Plus Stevie and Roland are partners, I think the Rosebud will end up being corporate headquarters. Alexis may go, but I bet the plan will be for her to do the PR for the new company so she'll be back occasionally.
  21. Its in Canada, Dan Levy kept it vague, but admitted that it is set in Canada, makes sense as its a Canadian produced show.
  22. squeeeeee they're back!!! I loved both storylines, the zany of David's mania about the wedding venue and the picnic with the elder Roses. Poor Johnny getting caught in his altogether by the cop / fisherman. And of course Moira isn't really done with acting.
  23. Gibbs is tired, and broken down, hated seeing him like that. But we do all get old. Ziva was right that there were hints she wasn't dead, they didn't mention it last night, but Tony said he was going to follow up on certain things that didn't add up about her "death". Gibbs did close the door on her, but that was because (spoiler!) the actress left the show. They left out Tony's plan to search for her I imagine it didn't work out, or he had less time given he was raising their daughter.
  24. Well, I missed that entirely. I thought she might be interested as they've shown her joining the nuns in the chapel, at times seemed to be trying to understand their community, and of course, the look on her face when Sister Jullianne said she was coming with them to court. I've never gotten that sense from Trixie or from Lucille -both of whom are religious to some degree (or a lot in Lucille's case). Well we'll have to see, maybe what I've been picking up on is that she is starting to question her atheism, and the story will be discovering God, but not becoming a nun.
  25. On Frasier, in the end he doesn't go to San Francisco -he's on a plane, but it lands in Chicago. He's going to try and win Charlotte for keeps. In my mind I've always thought that Frasier marries Charlotte and they eventually move back to Seattle, although I don't think he'd go back on the radio anymore.
