  1. my PBS station shows the Christmas special in the evening on Dec. 25th and repeats it once or twice afterwards. They will have one again this year so be sure to catch it this Christmas. Love that the girls are back, think its time Trixie finds her true love. Barbara got married and stayed on the show so they can do the same for Trixie. Loved how the doctors reached the delivery room just as the midwives revived the last triplet -showing again the tension between midwivery and the coming modern hospital deliveries. BTW research is now showing that vaginal births are important in giving the baby an immune boost -the ultra sterile caesarian method may be to blame for the increased rate of food and other allergies among today's kids.
  2. So many shows fail to "stick the landing" and it really looks like Crazy Ex Girlfriend is going to land in the failure column. How many great shows fizzle before the end? Many more than not IMO. My guess is that we are going to get one of those cliche mega fast forwards at the end showing how all the characters end up and the 2 rejected guys end up happy with other women. Actually would be fun if she decided not to choose and formed a polyandrous 4-some with them all living in a compound in, of course, West Corvina.
  3. Totally agree, in fact I wrote something similar a couple of episodes ago, why do they all adore her so? Especially Josh after they way Rebecca terrorized him. I'm surprised they've become close friends again even. I've had not the same thing happen to me but somewhat similar where someone I was close to did a lot of horrid things during a breakdown (bipolar). Our friendship never recovered although I would say I have forgiven him what happened. Beyond the production number, my favorite storyline this episode was Rebecca stalking her therapist. I loved her saying "Help me" after Rebecca left the bar. She got a small taste of what Rebecca can dish out when she's motivated. I think the show lost something essential when Rebecca got her psychological issues under control. I'm happy she's well. But in terms of a TV show, was more interesting when you thought she could go off the rails at any moment.
  4. I loved the send up of the Bachelor/ette round robin dates, showing how silly it is to choose based on one night -although in this case she has known them all longer than the normal reality show. They were also tweaking us, the audience, for getting invested in the different guys (I'm team Nathaniel BTW). Am disappointed it looks like Greg the no fun guy is likely to win her heart, but I guess two of the three are destined to be hurt no matter what. Did like the production number immensely.
  5. One thing that makes me think she will end up with one of them (likely Nathaniel) is that she has been trying and failing at relationships. She went through that period where she was sure she couldn't be in a healthy relationship and her therapist encouraged her to believe she deserved love. I think if they end it with Rebecca alone it will fall short of her truly being healthy. And it seems they have been moving her towards health. But we'll have to see what Bloom has in store for Bunch.
  6. Have to say I miss the fantasy songs, and although its good Rebecca realizes life is not a musical, do wish they had more music in the show than they had last night. For some reason (maybe because of the lack of songs) I was thinking throughout the episode "Why are all three of these guys so hung up on her?" Nathaniel said how many times Rebecca had broken up with him, Josh of course she stalked, and Greg, well we found out a couple of weeks ago that they have no interests in common. Agree with everyone who's posted about Valencia, I didn't get why she needs to be the one proposed to. I wish that scene had had her propose to Beth, instead of giving her the ultimatium "propose to me or else". I think its fine that she wants to be married, and have the wedding etc. I missed Hector tonight, although did like Heather helping Greg set up the restaurant. Was I the only one wondering if there would really be that much of a salary difference between the lawyers where Paula is and where she was interviewing? Are Darryl and Nathaniel paying so much less than other firms? Anyway, I love the cast but the show has lost its zip. But I'm in to the end. Hope there are some good moments ahead.
  7. good episode, but couldn't get over the Valentine theme. I love these episodes that tailor to holidays, but only when they are shown near the holiday. I thought Grace knocking down RBG and the resultant outrage to be really funny, and liked the supposed RBG radio address absolved the person (Grace) who pushed her. Was a good comedic take on the unusual interest people take in RBG's wellness and the NY state of mind vis a vis cabs. Enjoyed Schwimmer and Karen -he got his first dose of full on Karen weirdness, a lot for anyone to take. Wasn't as crazy about the Will / Estefan / Jack storyline but that's okay. Good ep overall.
  8. Agee on Paula -they said she had one stent put in, well usually you just stay 2 days at most with one of those. I had a friend w a bypass that was in the hospital for a week, but IRL Paula would have been out long before 2 weeks. But it made for some good comedy, and I loved having the gals all together: Paula, Rebecca, Valencia and Heather. Agree w posters who say Josh getting back with Rebecca would be too weird given the stalking. No matter if you have forgiven each other, there's a limit IMO. I'm rooting for Nathaniel too, was pleasantly surprised he was the one promoting that they should all be friends, even though Greg was supposedly Rebecca's choice at the time. Enjoyed Madison and Amanda's daughter getting them together, I can see them as sisters with a friendly rivalry.
  9. good episode all around. Loved Jack and Grace trying to diet and then realizing they actually look pretty good (for their age). And a good plot with Olivia, Karen, and Will in his Judge Judy robes. At first I didn't like the "Will as law professor" storyline, but now think its great.
  10. loved this episode, especially the Paula health scare It was so real Rebecca and Paula discussing how hard it will be /is to change your lifestyle for good. I agree with those that said this episode shows Greg is not a good fit for Rebecca, he's the type to stay home and not socialize, and that's so not Rebecca. Opposites attract, but in the long run goals and interests need to be more of a match. I'm back to thinking she will end up with none of these 3 guys. I think there is too much history for her to get back together with Josh, Nathaniel is moving on (I think), and Greg, is well, Greg. Oh, and I really liked the scenes with Rebecca and her therapist and then her sleeping on the bench to wait for Dr. Chin to get there in the morning. And I liked when she said -am I the first person to sleep on this bench and he was like -not even close.
  11. Loved, loved Nathaniel's trip into Rom-com land, and the curveball the show threw by having him realize he needed to let go of Rebecca instead of the usual happy ending rom-coms have. As Nathaniel boarded the elevator after telling Rebecca about his extended daydream and realization, for the first time I felt that Nathaniel is too good for Rebecca, and I won't be unhappy if they end up apart -an odd feeling as I've been shipping them since the two first got together. Anyway, really enjoyed the episode, and while at first I didn't like that they are focusing on other characters more than Rebecca for much of the season, I'm okay with it now -they all deserve to be celebrated and their stories told. Brava to all!
  12. Yes, malls are dying due to online shopping. Which pulls money out of local economies and towards the big retailers and shopping sites like Amazon.
  13. Yes, but also I was surprised at how eager they were to move back to Chicago -I would have expected some mixed feelings at least, especially from Mark.
  14. I was surprised and a bit dismayed that Darlene decided to stay in Lanford because of David. I would have rather had her do it as Jackie is a mess, Becky needs help, or just as she is unsure she wants to uproot the kids away from David. But what can one do? Nothing. Best part of the episode was Jackie's meltdown, really felt her despair and grief over losing her sister. Good riddance to Matthew Broderick -still can't figure out what happened in that scene a few weeks back when I though she kicked him out, but he is out of the picture for sure now.
  15. I'm in the minority with you. It was so sad. I don't know where the next 8 episodes are going, but plenty of time for Rebecca and Nathaniel to get back together. Although my money is actually on Rebecca not being with anyone at the end, a solo woman looking at a lot of options for her future.
  16. I know this is a sitcom, but really having a hard time believing Darlene would be so overjoyed at moving her and the kids to Chicago with Ben. They haven't been dating all that long, her divorce from David isn't final, her dad is still recovering from Roseanne's death, and she just promised Becky that she'd be there for her when the baby is born. I think this will blow up somehow, but think the whole premise is unworthy of the show.
  17. I miss my weekly visits with Murphy and the gang.
  18. this ep just wasn't that enjoyable, at least Rebecca's storyline wasn't. I appreciated the concept of her vaginal health interfering with her desire for sex, but the execution wasn't all that funny to me. I did like the Bert/Darryl tussle over the employees, it seemed natural to me that Darryl would feel neglected coming off paternity leave to find Bert was everyone's favorite boss. My favorite line came from the priest when he advocated for a more professional workplace, a plea that was ignored by all around.
  19. Did they have Christopher Rich on this year? A story with Miller Redfield would seem in order if the show returns.
  20. Loved Murphy pestering everyone, especially Frank, as she was so worried about Avery. And liked how they mixed the danger of Afghanistan with the quirky -like there being a Starbucks in Kabul (there likely is!). The ending was a little anticlimatic as I'd seen the preview with Avery being on the couch. But was still a nice way to end the episode. My favorite part might have been Corky getting carried out of the bar with her "Women rule" proclamation. Love these characters.
  21. Know any older folks? They like to reminisce about the old days. And repeat stories. That is how I saw it, a talk between old friends that had the benefit of giving Avery the idea to go overseas to reset his journalistic cred.
  22. very good episode. So often dogs overwhelm a show, but not Benny. I like Avery going to the war zone, and if there is a season 2 would be great to continue with him making trips abroad except that I want him to still be a big part of the show. Loved Murphy's "I'm bionic" with her 2 hip replacements and Phyllis telling Frank that she won't bring him a menu as it hasn't changed in 40 years so he should know it by heart. this show has been a bright spot on my Thursday evenings.
  23. Loved Katey Sagal, think she and Dan would be a good match. And good on the show for not going there . . . yet. You don't start dating again a few months after your wife of 40 years dies. Loved how clueless Dan was about flirting. The bit with him and Jackie at the end was great also. I enjoyed the re-enacting how Vikings lived, especially as it finally got Jackie to stand up to the weasel. I wasn't crazy about the Darlene and Becky scene in the pool hall. For one thing, when Becky said -I wrote you, and Darlene said -I sent a care package --I was like, come on, you two weren't living on opposite coasts at the time. Landford is in the same state as Chicago, in fact I think its supposed to be not that far away -1-2 hours tops. And when did this happen, the 1930s? What happened to phone calls etc? I know it was a convienent way to explain it, but better to have Becky say she didn't feel comfortable actually asking.
  24. Avery is by far my favorite character of the reboot. Loved Murphy's rant at the shelter, was reminiscent of her old charging style. If there is a season 2 wonder if Avery will work with Murphy and the gang. Or maybe they should have him start his own website with podcasts etc. Its very common way people try to work their way up (or back in). 2 more episodes to go. Somehow I am more connected to the show this time around. Maybe its just my age. But I'll be sad when the credits roll on episode 13.
  25. I think he made the vegan paella for Darlene -she was the one who didn't want him to eat meat in a prior episode.
