  1. I don't see how can discount the depth of Stan's and Philip's relationship. When things when sour with Stan and his wife he went to Philip. That in itself defines what Stan thought about Philip. And, he loved Henry which also speaks volumes. As an FBI agent Stan never played it strictly by the books. Looks at his relationship with Oleg which crossed the line. Maybe it was just due to Nina but there again it shows how Stan was greatly influenced by his emotions. His feelings toward Gennadi is another example.
  2. Only the viewers know that. Stan doesn’t. He cares too much for Henry to lock Paige up without any concrete evidence.
  3. Great ending. Unfortunately Philip and Elizabeth are left with nothing but memories. I thought the scene with Beamon was an all time great one. I really don’t understand what people who did not like it were hoping for.
  4. Capitalizing on 9/11 didn’t make he look very good either.
  5. David Krumholtz did not look good in his role as Frotty. Hopefully there isn't a health issue at play. In "The Deuce" he was 50 pounds heavier than he was before that role and after, in Billions.
  6. I think if all the show's characters were happy in their lives they would be more likable but that's the point of the show. These are starving comics looking to make it big but most of them do not. I agree that many of them are cringe-worthy at times but their struggles make them more interesting. Even Goldie, who is at the top of the food chain, has her own issues. She drinks and smokes all day and has to deal with whiners like Bill. I am really enjoying this season. The show has done a great job of character development.
  7. Didn't Taylor basically admit (by her lack of denial) that she mentioned who was going to dinner to tip Axe off? I assumed that's what she told Oscar and why they broke up. No?
  8. Elizabeth is a monster but I am still rooting for her. I guess that says something positive about the writing and character development.
  9. Watching Malkovich play a Russian thug is going to get old really quickly. It did for me during the hockey scene. If Rhoades and Axe are not after each other this show is going to go south, just like when Sam and Diane finally hooked up. That was the beginning of the end of Cheers.
  10. What did Cassie say to Nick when he sat with her at the wedding after finding out the the boy was really her son? I couldn't make it out. This was a really good episode. Both Cassie and Goldie were excellent in dealing with "motherhood."
  11. Even if there are 2 slides and the one that Chuck showed Axe is a fake, Brian still has trading information on both Chuck and Wendy. How does this help them? It will be more interesting if the 3 of them actually work together to clear all of them.
  12. While I enjoyed some of the season I have no clue what this show is about. I like Ramon except when he is seeing things. I agree with others that I can’t believe no one called the police after the 2 kids were beat up. The only other character I like is Greg. He seems to be the only normal one. The rest all seem so random.
  13. Was the opening scene the last one in real time? I can't tell if Charles SR is going to rat on Chuck or if the threat of moving the casino caused him to change his mind. Was Brian's visit to the sauna before the opening scene or after it?
  14. I totally disagree. Ramon is intelligent enough to realize that Farid's interest in Ramon has only to do with Farid. He is using one of his patients to understand more about himself. If he was a true professional he would tell Ramon that he can no longer be his doctor. Instead he continues to dig deeper into Ramon for his own good. Ramon's parents should be asking Ramon questions to understand why he doesn't want to see Farid again. They would quickly see why Ramon is right. Not only is Farid abusing him, he is lying to the parents to convince them that he should have increased access to Ramon.
  15. Well, everything is out in the open now that Vera told Eddie everything. I was glad that she did and I was happy that he didn't show her the door. What exactly will now happy when Eddie meets Lilith is anyone's guess. Every scene with Cal is great. This guy carries the show. I really hope he is recognized some way for his performance.
  16. Sarah wants to believe but all the new information she has seen has made her question her lifelong beliefs. After realizing that there is no garden I wonder what she will do. I agree about Mary. She is rarely happy and seems to be pushing Cal too hard to go off on his own. I guess she isn't afraid that he will dump her. She did do a good job with their new client. I often feel like taking Russell's guitar and hitting him over the head with it.
  17. I don't get why both of them didn't remember each other after Cal discussed being abused by Steve. Does Vera now know that she knows Cal from when they were kids?
  18. I am finding this season fascinating. First, Hugh Dancy is amazing. His "Cal" deserves an award. Secondly, having the reversal with Eddie leading the charge and Sarah doing the questioning has made for a good story line. I also think that introducing Vera and her Mom. Steve's former lover and daughter, added to the plot line. Having prior members come back to haunt an organization to quite common. In the last episode it was interesting to see Sarah come to the realization that there is no afterlife. Not only is that contrary to "the garden" but it is also contrary to what most people believe.
  19. All great points. I loved the empathy dichotomy. Last year my daughter, who is Caucasian, visited Portland with her husband who is Moroccan. They were considering moving there but felt that it was 'too white" which really meant not diverse enough.
  20. I really didn't consider their divorce ugly. Most of the friction was created by their lawyers and once they were done they both seemed to be relieved.
  21. I am not a doctor but Jack has a lung issue and he isn't on oxygen? He is just sitting in the bed? I find it hard to believe that a pretty fit guy would just succumb in that situation without any intervention until he coded.
  22. I am ok with that but the couple leaving their home and giving the Pearson's a crock pot which ultimately killed Jack is not a meaningful connection to me. They could have just as easily bought it at a garage sale. And it isn't as though that couple had any role prior to this.
  23. The show hit an all-time low with this, starting with the hype and ending with the family watching their dad perish. And in the middle was an unrelated story of a couple leaving the home that they raised their kids in. That would have been a nice story if they didn't tie it to the Pearsons with a stupid crock pot. Seriously, what was the point of that? Are we supposed to be deep in thought about the fact that Jack's death was unnecessary because it wasn't caused by his drinking or something more meaningful? Sorry, I am not going there. Just poor drama writing.
  24. This last episode started slowly but finished very well. I knew Joel wasn’t going to be happy with Midge’s on stage success. Great idea for Susie to get Lenny Bruce to bring the crowd and have Midge perform first. And she killed. Rachel Brosnahan is really great.
