@bannana Thanks for sharing your experience. It's karma, I guess, that my mom, who wouldn't let us throw anything out even if it was broken, is now going to be in a position where she will only be able to have a few things and if she progresses like your mom did those won't mean anything to her either soon. I've definitely seen the distress and agitation the last month. I wonder how she's going to react when she moves into a facility and nothing is familiar to her. At least now, she recognizes where she is most of the time.

Thank you, @Cupid Stunt.

Stargate Origins - General Discussion
marina to replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Stargate Origins
I registered for the free stuff at command and found on the forums someone who has does puzzles for old SG1 episodes. There's also a lot of fun quizzes and interesting articles on the site, so it's worth swinging by. The registration fee also includes streaming all the SG1 eps so I'm thinking of paying the fee just so I can clear a shelf and get rid of my DVDs. -
It's actually easier to place someone into a facility out of the hospital. Because my mom was in the hospital, we've been able to put her on a crisis list. My brother said he has a friend who didn't have access to the program we have and has been waiting a couple of years to get their parent into a facility. Maybe this was the best chance your niece had to get your sister the help she needed. Being in the position now that your niece was in (my mom's memory issues started with what has been diagnosed as a small stroke), I can't help but feel for her.

It's good you have them on your side helping you out. As much as it's hard to say what's going on, the more people know the better.

Downplaying, yes. I had to start going to all my mom's doctors' appointments because she would claim that everything is just fine. Cutting the toenails in particular was a challenge. My sister started taking my mom to the foot doctor to make sure it got done. Honestly? Get him out of the house for a few hours and have someone come in and clean. We cleaned out a lot of mom's crap while she was in the hospital. Subterfuge is a practical strategy at this point.

The only reason we're getting away with it is that she doesn't realize what's going on. When they first broached this program to us at the hospital, the coordinator and I were sitting beside her bed. She completely freaked out, said we all didn't care about her, we just wanted to put her away, and all other kinds of stuff. The coordinator came to talk to my mom and explain that we were just trying to do what we could because we can't support her anymore. She has since forgotten that conversation. She was evaluated 10 days ago and the conclusion was that she can't make her own decisions anymore. But she was more confused then than she is now. I'm dreading when she figures it out. It's not going to be pretty. My dad didn't like the idea at first of having strangers come into the house. Part of how we first sold him on thinking about it was pointing out that we could have a PSW come in to do housework. Is there a way you can get him help like that at least? Once my dad saw how it made things easier, he was much more open to considering other things.

That's tough. One of my dearest friends is in the position you're in with his mother (minus having his own health problems). He told me his mother finally gave him permission to start looking for a home because she's starting to realize she can't do the things she used to do. I'm lucky in that I live with both my parents and my dad does a lot, plus I have siblings who are helping out. Can't imagine how hard it must be when you're the only one.

I'm there now. She spent 3 weeks in the hospital which accelerated things and right now I'm sitting in our living room with her sleeping in a hospital bed. We're in the process of getting her placed (we're in a program that provides us with extra supports for 50 days to facilitate this) but yes, some days I think - yeah, we can do this, her confusion is clearing, she's getting more mobile. Then I remember that she has no understanding of what is going on around her, even right after I explain it, and that sometimes she doesn't even remember who we are. The PSWs coming in all tell me how sweet and funny my mom is, which in a way makes it worse. She sometimes gets these moments of recognition when she realizes just how bad it is, just like we're seeing Dina do, but it never lasts. I've been screaming at Jack to get some PSWs in at least to give him a break, but does he listen to me?

Long Island Medium - General Discussion

The organizers really can't filter out for age in these types of events. Generally young men don't consider speed dating until they're in their late 20s. And Victoria is 23 (!). -
Frankie Drake Mysteries - General Discussion

I liked this one. Finally, something that Frankie isn't good at! Trudy, as usual, shines. Mary and Flo continue to be a delight, and I was so happy to see my friend Dimitry show up as Sennett. So much fun! -
Pride T-shirt attire doesn't bother me but I agree with the rest of this. Hoping they do a serious revamp of Pride because his tunnel vision isn't an attractive trait in a lead character. You want me to believe that Pride is this great leader? Showing him leading, not dragging his team around. Little disappointed in Loretta for downplaying that bit of self realization Pride had but then again, she gave him hell last week for his behaviour and then he saved her son. She probably felt she had to cut him some slack. I'm also really happy we got to see the Clearwater fall out. Hope there's more that gets done with that.

She was always going to go away alone. I also quite like the actress. And UO, I like her chemistry with Weatherly.

Not so nice being on the other side of someone's impulsive, instinctive actions, eh Pride? Well done show. Maybe we are seeing a change in Pride.

Yeah, I was really hoping they weren't going to go there with Hemmingway. He's pretty to look at but I'd rather see him with Trudy. She killed it with that song. Flo was fun once again, Trudy rocked, happy to finally see Whiskey Wendy and looking forward to her story. I have to agree with everyone else about Frankie not feeling part of that era. -
I was having way more fun following the team then caring about the case. Poor Marissa. You think Kyle would be smarter than trying to mess with someone who used to work in Homeland Security.

Chloe Sullivan: Let's Be Real, She was the Real Lois Lane!

I didn't recognize her. She looks much aged. The interesting thing about her testimony is that it sounds like a testimony for every personal development program I've ever watched/seen. Nothing sinister about it at all. -
@neuromom The commenting on this show has always been on the low side. The mothership gets about double. As popular as the NCIS shows are, they have a perception of not being cool to the type of people who post here.

@Miss Dee, there's no Hemingway in future episodes, as far as I can tell. Certainly not in ep 2, which I just watched. I'm biased because the actor is a friend but I'm loving Flo so hard. Just love what they're doing with the character. I liked that we saw a lot more of Trudy this episode and I'm finding myself really interested in knowing more about her. And after finding her annoying in ep 1, I liked Mary here. The actor playing the factory owner's voice was incredibly familiar but when I looked him up on IMDB the name didn't ring a bell, nor his resume. I like that we got some taste of a major social issue going on at the time. The mystery itself was kinda meh. -
Did a little research on the actor playing Cable. According to IMDB, her first role was playing the lead in Annie when she was 5. Her father is the co-executive producer of the show but she's paid her acting dues so it's not straight nepotism.

Forgot to mention Franks! Not a fan of the character but loved the reminder that Gibbs talks to dead people, even if he'll never admit it.
