  1. Could be, but Jephte seems heads and tails above Olajuwon in intelligence. Just my impression.
  2. I actually took the time to look up the requirements for a position with that title and at least in NY State a HS diploma or GED is the minimum educational requirement for all levels of the position. As the grade levels go up there are more courses required to be certified, but even the highest level only requires something like an additional 6 courses, and I'm not even sure they're college level courses but specific trades courses. So it he's not a "garbage man" but it's also not a job where one needs a degree or background in engineering. I am sure the managers at higher levels would need those degrees, but not someone with a title of "operator". But seriously, there is no shame in that and like others have said, I'm sure it's a good career with good benefits. Both Olajuwon and Katina don't strike me as having been college educated but so what? My husband has a GED and so did my dad.
  3. I saw that on the after party and I find it very hard to believe Alyssa's story about the psychic. That's a very specific thing and most psychics don't get THAT specific. They may use more general adjectives about eyes and height but tattoos? I think she liked Steve and caught a glimpse of his tattoo and then made that story up. Then she stirred the shit by telling Noi about it. She's figuratively throwing a tantrum because she didn't get what she wanted and when she saw Noi with someone better in her view and happier with her match, she tried to take her down with her. Her maturity level is an insult to toddlers.
  4. Agreed. But if Jasmina wanted this to work, she would reassure him rather than criticize him when he does so. Yes, and did you see the cold way she reacted when he told her about all the loss he's experienced? If a man told me that the first thing I'd say is, "Oh how horrible for you, my heart goes out to you". But nooooo, all Jasmina could do was coldly point out that if he dwells on that it could be a problem for their relationship. She is one cold hearted self-centered bitch, sorry.
  5. Another words a Garbage Man? Actually, a sewer man. Move over Art Carney, Olajuwon is here!
  6. Not to defend Lindsey because she's taking the bait, but this show plies them with alcohol at every turn. Drinks are handed to them everywhere from the moment they say "I do" to every moment they're in a limo., the hotel room, a meal, even pina coladas at the hotel. That's no accident and I bet it's all paid for by the show and handed to them. They know it will make Lindsey say and do things to offend people and that's exactly what they want.
  7. Katina thinks she's the shit but she's naive if she breaks down in tears over Olajawon's smarmy sales pitch. I thought she was supposed to be street smart but she bit into his schmoozey line of crap hook line and sinker. She only knows this guy 3 days and already she knows he's had a checkered past and yet she's STILL buying everything he's selling. He would have sent my red lights blinking like no tomorrow!
  8. I think Michael and Jasmina are two sides of the same coin. Or maybe the same side. They have similar issues with loss and mistrust and are both engaging in relationship sabotage and gaslighting each other. She wants to make it his fault so she latched onto what his family said about him going into things with a negative attitude. But in harping on that SHE becomes the one with a negative attitude! So they both take turns borrowing trouble that doesn't exist. Then he wanted to turn the tables on her and make everything her fault so he tells her she cut him off. I didn't see her cut him off. Now he's the one looking for problems that don't exist. At least he was willing to cop to some of what she said about him. She is never willing to cop to anything and gave him a lame non apology. Meanwhile is there really anything for either of them to apologize for? No, but they are both looking to find fault with the other one and are way too touchy about everything. They are so much alike and a perfect match but one made in HELL.
  9. I thought similar about Alyssa. It's not just that she didn't want to go snorkeling with Chris, it's also that she wouldn't want to get her hair wet and mess up her false eyelashes and eyeliner. That's the absolute BEST she can look and I'm sure she knows that she would look awful with wet hair with wonky eyelashes. She was fine with the boarding on the water, because she didn't get wet at all.
  10. You are not the only one to wonder about that. In my house we all wondered if production put Mark up to saying he wanted to slow things down. I think this show keeps firming up the contracts to make them have to say what production wants them to say when they tell them to say it. Like there is a script they're sometimes told to follow. Lindsey was obviously put on the show for drama and if things are going too good between her and Mark she might not provide it so much.
  11. What grossed me out is that it seemed like Olajuwon was bragging about it in front of his new wife and everyone else. That was the height of bad taste and low class. If he had truly changed he would cringe to have people know that stuff. Unfortunately I don't think Katina will be put off by that, which says something about her too.
  12. It's almost like she's playing the same character as in "The Gilded Age". If I didn't know better I'd think the show was trying to tease the audience for a possible appearance of Kim in a 2nd season.
  13. This.....exactly. I've watched Miranda and she was a natural for the part because she created it. I think Jim Parsons thought Mayim could pull it off and since he was instrumental in this it was produced, but perhaps those decisions are best made by professional casting people. It would be a hard role for anyone to pull off. I get it that they were enthusiastic about recreating a really funny, unique show but they were probably biting off more than they could chew.
  14. I'm happy when no more women are eliminated but not happy to see men go home just because they're men or they're white. So I agree that the comment mentioned was mean spirited and prejudiced. A white man has won in 6 out of 14 seasons on this show so a non-white and/or non-male winner would hardly be tables turning "for once". Considering that most gourmet chefs in the US have been historically male and white in this country, it seems to me that Top Chef has done far more to help non-white and female chefs get recognized and given their due than it has done anything against that.
  15. That's a good question. Did I miss something? Does anyone know how he's been getting there?
  16. There's no way she would have been too tired for sex with him if she really wanted it. That was total BS. I think he makes her feel like an "old lady". She talks to him as if he were her son or something. Then again, he asks for it by acting like an unsure teenager. What a horrible match!
  17. OMG I have been thinking this about Danielle the entire season! She needs an eyebrow intervention in the worst way. I understand the strong eyebrow is in style but she has no idea how to shape them!
  18. I read this was coming back this year but I haven't seen any premiere date yet.
  19. Nicole could afford to wonder what the bears were eating because they were far enough away from her camp for her not to feel unsafe. In fact, in earlier episodes she mentioned that they were no threat as long as they stayed at a safe distance on their side of the cove, which it looks like they did. They even looked far away and zoomed in in all the camera shots we saw of them. I actually think it was the other way around and the show was trying to make it look like the bears were more of a threat than they really were.
  20. It's not starting sex too early that's the problem, it's that having just married the guy, Vanessa assumed Tres wouldn't be just having his fun like no strings attached, but doing it within a serious relationship. That isn't too much to assume in what at that time was a legally binding marriage So I agree with Snarkle that Tres had the responsibility of being up front about not being on board with a serious commitment if he was just having fun with her at that time. He could have said, "I want to have sex with you but if I do please understand that it's just for fun and not within the context of a true marital commitment." Of course he'd never have said that because if he did he knew she would probably have said no.
  21. Whatever anyone's personal experience may be, no one can speak for how Whitney's body reacts to dieting only their own. And no two people are the same. I have read that no two people with PCOS gain or lose the same way. It may be harder for you to gain weight and easier for you to lose it even with PCOS than for Whitney. Insulin resistance for anyone is a tough thing to beat and cutting out only 300 calories a day will not even make most normal people lose weight, which is why most diets always cut people down to somewhere around 1500 calories a day. And it's circular logic to claim that Whitney gained weight not because she has a low metabolism but because she eats more calories than she burns - It's precisely because she has a low metabolism or insulin resistance or both that she doesn't burn calories as efficiently as someone without those issues and gains weight more easily and on less food than a person without that problem. It is common knowledge that insulin resistance causes a person to put on more weight on less food plus makes them have a much harder time taking it off than if they didn't have the insulin resistance. That's a double-bind I wouldn't wish on anyone.
  22. Yeah, I'm not going to bash Christine for taking advantage of a little help. She's paid her dues as far as I'm concerned. I pay someone to clean my house when I'm stretched thin for any number of reasons, including that I just need a break. And it's not even that easy for me to afford it, either.
  23. Not to defend her, but this used to be the rationale men used to devalue "women's work". I've worked full time all my life and never had kids and yet I would not say this about Christine. When I'm home (like I was yesterday because of snow) I find I've got plenty to do, and my house is half the size of hers plus I don't have a zillion other family members taking up my time. Hubbie is out hustling his butt to make $$ round the clock so all the housework, food shopping, cooking, etc. falls on me. I feel kinda sorry for Christine and the rest of the wives because as far as I can see they don't get any support from Kodouche with these things.
  24. Guy didn't become a megastar either overnight and Jeff is rapidly going places with the network so I hope he will one day eclipse Guy. That network needs less of Guy by now and it seems like most of the public agrees from what I read on comment boards.
