But... they are of equal importance to their respective shows. Barry and Oliver are the titular heroes and Iris and Felicity are by the narrative their big loves. The thing is, we don't know how the Christmas episode will go down. We don't know what will happen. We don't have that much info for that episode yet. There's always a Christmas party, so maybe they'll tie that into an after wedding celebration. Or maybe we'll see them try to leave for their honeymoon the entire episode. Over the last couple of years I've seen people in fandom get really mad at things(some of the angst before the musical episode...man. People were getting mad at other people's theories etc) only for the episode to be delightful or for whatever storyline not to be a big deal. I'm not saying don't feel what you feel, you feel what you feel of course. And I don't always follow my own advice since I do worry about certain storylines etc. lol . But there's a little more than 5 weekts to go, why rob myself of the joy of the anticipation of my favorite couple getting married just because it might not be 100% perfect or what I would have wanted for them? Especially since it's already been written and shot. There is so much to look forward to imo. I mean, they're getting married! I think of how sad I was feeling 2 seasons ago during 2a and well...

Katee Sackhoff talked about her character (Amunet) for a bit during a con:
-
I don’t think it cheapens them. Why would their entire relationship be put into question because of the way the wedding goes down? While I love that Barry and Iris have a long comics history (it’s really cool to read about all their stuff from the past), I’m not sure why the fact that Felicity and Oliver are not a comic couple would cheapen things. In the DCTV continuity they’re a solid couple. They’re clearly THE couple on Arrow. In the continuity of the shows, and in the Arrowverse Barry/Iris and Oliver/Felicity are pretty much the biggest couples. They set up that they’re equivalent back in the first crossover with the ‘guys like us don’t get the girl’ thing. So it’ll be THE Flash couple and THE Arrow couple side by side. So having them share a wedding doesn't do a disservice to either imo Barry and Iris are awesome, because they’re awesome on the show. Not because they’re a comic canon couple. I can’t speak for anyone else, but for me I fell in love with Barry and Iris on TV and only then did I start reading comics because of that. I totally get respecting the source material, there's some great stuff, and I think there’s a lot to be said for it on The Flash especially in terms of its importance because they racebended Iris*, but I don’t think just the fact that something is comics canon somehow makes it inherently better. (And if anything to me the whole 'big wedding that gets crashed by villains and has many surprises, including a double wedding' sounds exactly like something that could happen in a comic-book). I’m not crazy about a double wedding in non-wedding clothes just after a funeral, but that’s another thing altogether ;) *I wrote about my feelings on this on one of the boards maybe last year. Pasting it here instead of finding new ways to say the same thing ;) I'm not a stickler for comic canon per se (I like Olicity after all) but knowing the way WOC get treated on TV shows and in fandom, especially when they are also love interests, I'll say that I do find some comfort in the idea that it’s not just that Iris is married to Barry but that Iris is the matriarch of the Flash family (though there are no guarantees of course). They have speedster children with their own stories and grandchildren with their own popular stories. Bart Allen in particular is pretty popular, I’m sure he’ll pop up at some point. To me keeping this part about the characters is not even about canon, it’s about responsibility when you take a character like Iris and change her race: Making Iris West black, and making a big deal about it in terms of ‘we have great representation! Look at us!' and then turning around and giving that role, that family, those children to another woman, especially a white woman, would be extremely offensive on so many levels.

Ah, I just remembered. At least this time it's Team Flash's fault that there all these new metahumans and not Barry's, but I wonder why they decided to go this route. And in the end it seems Iris was right to question Cisco's plan.

Short first reaction, this was a nice episode, felt really comforting to me for some reason. I love, love, love Barry and Iris, but that scene in the church seemed so out of character. I have to agree with some here that sometimes they're pushing the comedy so hard they alter some of the characters for it. I did notice that Iris had on a different wedding dress. Haha. Love that first dress by the way, looked very pretty. And: I'll marry you any time, any place. ❤️. I think my favorite Barry and Iris moment this season so far is still the 'You came back to me...Always' scene. Next week looks fun too, curious about Ralph. And I'm going to miss Wally! (Iris felt the most like Iris to me in the scene they were saying goodbye). But he'll be back, right? right? Could he be going to Legends? I have a lot more thoughts on Wally, there are a lot of things I felt they could have handled better, but I'll write them when I can.

Cisco was also on the Flash poster for last year's crossover event.
-
I guess, but wouldn't see it as a test run, personally. I think if Joe and Cecile have a baby this season we might not see the twins in baby form (as in Iris getting pregnant in real time) at all unless the show goes longer than 7 seasons. We're at the beginning of the season and if Cecile just finds out she's pregnant that means we'll see the entire pregnancy play out during the season. I don't think they'd do an arc like that twice. But the great thing about speedster kids is they can show up in teenage or even adult form.
-
Ok, I just had a thought....what if Jesse's news is that she's pregnant....? They did say that that relationship would evolve...(and because she's pregnant she doesn't want to run into the Speedforce or something which is why she has her dad bring the news) Edited to add: Now that I think about it the teaser says the dad finds out in the last moments of the episode, so that rules out Wally if he is indeed the one leaving for a bit.
-
Yeah, not sure who else it could be at this point. Unless it's Cynthia maybe? That would be a shock. Just in time for the arrival of her dad next episode.
-
Teasers for the episode from Screenspy (I find them pretty big teasers, quite spoilery)
-
Early reaction for episode 3. They probably released another screener?
-
The backpack thing is cute :) But when would Barry have gotten him that backpack though, since he was in the Speedforce. I think Oliver's son already had the backpack in last week's episode.
-
Glad people here liked the episode. I'm still processing I think I have.....mixed feelings (lol)
-
One more screener reaction:
-
‘The Flash’: Jessica Camacho on Gypsy & Cisco’s Relationship, and Danny Trejo’s Breacher Interview with Jessica Camacho. Lots more questions at the source. Apparently we'll see Cynthia in a different outfit this episode.

The Flash: 4 Reasons Not to Miss This Week's Funny/Serious/Curious Episode I wonder what the Arrow crossover is about.

I just had a thought. Isn't Caitlin technically still someone the police are looking for?

Hi! Welcome to the board :) I don't really agree on the main point, I still feel the stakes and Iris getting captured was a leap of faith for her. So the point was she had to believe that Barry would come for her. But I can understand some of your frustration in that the writers seem to want to return to the status quo of Team Flash as fast as possible as we've seen in the season premieres of both season 2, 3 and 4 (but honestly that's an Arrowverse thing). There are a number of ways I could have seen them keep Barry in the Speed Force and still include Barry by showing what he was going through in the Speed Force. Show him come face to face with past, present and future in the actual Speed Force etc. But since I really enjoyed the episode I can live with it. The way they handled the season one cliffhanger was a bigger issue for me to be honest. In a quick flashback.
-
I don't know, it's not what I would have done, but I guess what they were going for is Iris had faith that Barry would come get her. And since it worked and he did, she was proven right. It was definitely a very big gamble though. But when you think about it, belief in the impossible and defying what should be scientifically possible has been a thing in Barry and Iris' relationship. When she saved him from Grodd's mind control she did it just with her voice since tech couldn't do it, she saved him with True love's kiss etc. Even earlier in the episode his powers activated after she touched him just like in the pilot and 3x21. Considering those things in combination with what her father had just told her, that she needed to have faith, I don't think it's a stretch for her to have faith that she/his love for her could bring him back. Not saying it was the best plan, though. They could have just tried pretending she was in danger, you know? (though I think it might not have worked since when he ran he instinctively seemed to know where to go and where she was/what the situation was) . But I guess since she had been unwilling to take a leap of faith earlier in the episode they wanted her to take a big one later. Wait, was it revealed those people at the end were from the future? I don't remember that. But they probably know a lot about Barry in any case (and she told the guy/robot that she was important to the Flash so she knew the villain didn't know. That's why she told him). I think the guy at the end orchestrated this whole thing because he needs Barry for something so he needed to get Barry out of the Speed Force.

Oh right, how could I forget, Cecile is moving in with Joe. They're getting serious. I wonder if they'll get married too? And the whole 'duck' conversation made me giggle. 'I don't see no duck'. So silly, yet funny.

He said something to a judge (your honor) about being innocent, I think that might be a future event. Plus the diapers line (we're going to need more diapers) might also be a future line.

That was a solid start to the season. All the character got their little moments . Still going over everything, but some initial thoughts -I chuckled at Wally's sudden Japanese. -Loved that they let Iris figure out the trajectory of pee ka boo -I admit hard Iris took some getting used to, but Candice did a great job showing the sadness underneath. And I'm happy they actually let her explain why she had acted that way. Great performance. I didn't expect to cry because my mind was quite preoccupied, but I was still getting tears and everything. -Iris got to interact with everyone! -We're going to need more diapers!! -You came back to me. Always (gorgeous scene) -Barry telling Iris how proud of her he is! -I hope there will be more to Barry's scribbles -A little sad that the first time we got real, full conversations between Cisco and Iris it was because they were arguing. I feel like they needed a scene alone together. -The plot with Amunet and Caitlin seems interesting. And at the very least opens up the world. -However...we literally did the -i'm afraid of the person/my powers inside me - loses control - is brought back - 3 times already last season. And the thing is, they introduced the cure. Before the cure, in a way there was a mitigating factor in that she couldn't get rid of them. But she had a chance to get rid of the powers/person inside and chose not tot (and the cure is still lying there somewhere) so any bad deeds that she now does under it's control don't have those mitigating factors any longer. -I liked the little bits of humor here and there. -I'll have to see how team leader Iris goes. I liked that she got so much more to do (and how cute was it that Cisco called Iris boss) but I need to see non-hardened Iris as team leader first. - This house is bitchin -And Barry and Iris are beautiful.

And some more: Wally makes an appearance in the new Legends of Tomorrow trailer. So I'm guessing that clip of him and Nate talking in that other trailer from a while back is from one of their episodes.
