Thanks! Hadn't seen this yet

Looking forward to the show coming back. We don't know who the big bad is yet, right? I know Jesse said to expect the reverse flash so perhaps he's the big bad of the last graphic novel?

I think Barry got his powers in 2014. If the events of the pilot after the timejump take place in oct, then he also got into a coma in 2014 It'd be interesting to see a flashback to before Barry got into a coma. See what everyone's life was like before all of this happened

I hope I'll be able to write about the things I liked and the things I had issues with later or later in the week, but ... I actually quite enjoyed the episode. I went in knowing what happens, though. I actually think love being so important makes sense with how they've built up the story, though some of the dialogue could have been more natural Faults and all, from these first 3 episodes, this is the one I have the feeling of wanting to rewatch Anyway, hopefully more later!

Yeah, a small tease would have been nice. It does seem like we know so little about season 7 after they wrap up the season 6 arc. Hopefully we'll get some interviews now that the season 7 premiere is so close
-
I like that trailer a lot! And I like that the connection between Barry and Iris is very clear. Would have been nice if they teased the villain for after this arc, I think a lot of people are curious about the new arc and it would get people talking probably, but It might have been too much for a trailer? Looking forward to the new season. I've missed the show

I don't think there's been an official announcement (?), but according to this article from hollywoodnorth (yvrshoots) :

The panel was a bit short and we didn't really learn much new things (from the panel itself, the trailer had a lot of info), but it was nice to see the cast and Eric talking. I hope they also did/will do individual interviews like during comic con I thought the trailer was really good. I thought they made good use of new and old footage and dialogue to bring it all together. It's not the most spectacular trailer they've ever done, but it really makes me look forward to the new season. Especially since all that new footage is only from one episode. Curious about what is going on with Iris in the mirror.

TV Panels at DCFandome The Flash panel description says there will be a trailer. Candice will also be on another panel, and Eric will also be part of another (different) panel.

Not my full thoughts yet, but let me just start with that last scene. Wow, cried my way through it. Even with Barry and Iris not actually interacting it was still very powerful, or maybe it was made even more powerful because even without knowing they were still saying the same things. I've been listening to that song this week. (Speaking of, does anyone know if it's more expensive to use songs or to have them write music for the scene? I've noticed they started using a lot more song this season)

WE CALLED IT!!! ~😊 ~ I hope that real Singh is ok ( the succes is assured line is I think there to make clear that it's a mirror version) Trying to stop Carver in itself isn't necessarily a bad thing, but keeping people trapped in the mirror while you let mirror versions live their life (and in some cases actively try to destroy those lives) is pretty not good I know people don't like the standing around in star labs situation, but I've come to the conclusion that I miss team flash working as a team on missions. I get what they're trying to do with separate storylines and giving everyone something to do, but they could do different things while working towards the same goal. Because now usually no matter how dire the situation of the A plot is there are some characters off doing other things. They don't really work as a full team anymore on anything. Maybe every few episodes we can have something that everyone works on? I was hoping to really like Sue and Ralph's journey...and they definitely have potential, but I'm not fully convinced yet. Maybe it's more that I don't have any 'I really want them together!' feels yet. I thought the heart to heart scene was a step in the right direction (even if I kept thinking it was going to be another double cross). Still, I think it's a good thing the show is trying a different type of couple dynamic. People have mentioned the batman and catwoman dynamic when talking about them and that seems to fit, at least for now. I know it's not to be taken seriously and the scene was funny, but I didn't really like how they wrote the Cisco and Sue interaction. For Cisco, It felt too much for someone with a girlfriend. It was nice to see a Cisco and Ralph team up, though The fight between Barry and Siri was brutal, though since it's not real Iris it's easier to brush off than the one from last year. Hopefully there is more real Iris in the next episode Altogether, a pretty OK episode (even if I really miss westallen)

Where was Ralph? He's only been in 1 episode in 6b. I don't get what is going on with the regulars this season. I think the mirror plot is cool, but I think they could be doing so much more with the other side of the mirror. We could be seeing Iris on this entire journey on the other side exploring that verse, finding mirrors, trying to get out, but so far it's mostly been her in that room and their solutions have been very conversation - try - fail - conversation. There was something off about Singh this episode. About Iris' reaction, when real Iris has had a chance to react so far to seeing Siri with her family it seems her main concern has been that they're being manipulated and not that they don't know (in 6x11 while she yelled it wasn't her, first she yelled at Siri to get away from him, in 6x14 my impression was that she was mostly concerned for them). I think we'll get some plot on that, though, if only because Eva herself seems to resents her husband and ever so subtly seems to be trying to push Iris in the direction of resenting her own family (I hope your family doesn't forget you as quickly etc). For me, I'm not mad at Barry (and personally I'm not at all into the idea of a big how could you not know it wasn't me storyline) and I think it should certainly be noted that Barry is also being harmed by Siri's actions. I think everything so far makes sense as to why he hasn't caught on. As someone mentioned, he almost immediately noticed something was off but got so much backlash that ironically he now feels questioning any change in her is him being a bad, unsupportive husband who won't let his wife grow. So on the level of the story they're telling I understand. That said, from a writing perspective I don't think it's an ideal choice, especially not for Barry and Iris and how they've been portrayed previously. Barry and Iris have very much been written as a soulmate type couple in previous seasons, and I think things would look different if they'd written in accordance with that for this arc . Or they would at least have more scenes like Barry somehow sensing Iris looking at him and things like that. To be fair, they did actually write that scene with him sensing her looking at him and I'm expecting some payoff for the lightning rod mentions. Which if done right could go some way in making me feel better about the way certain things have been handled. Perhaps it's the romantic in me, but I like I said above I understand and agree with every explanation, but I just want him to feel instinctively that it's not her. And to be fair, they have actually written Barry feeling it's not Iris to some extent, Barry has been acting different not just in scenes with mirror Iris (which btw have a subtle strain to them, which is great acting on the part of both Grant and Candice), he seems to be distancing himself from her in his overall behavior and who he confides in, maybe not consciously. But if they wanted to go that route they should have made it more clear. I understand that especially this season they are doing a slowburn on a lot of things and trying to be more subtle than maybe they have been in other seasons, like they had Barry have little things off about his speed in different episodes without immediately commenting on it and explaining it. But this is their main couple, I wish they'd take a little more care in both larger and smaller things. Barry has been spiraling this second half of the season, he's all over the place, and yes, crisis changes and the speed force are a big part of that, but they could have used the opportunity to also tie it to Iris being gone and him unknowingly reacting to that (and maybe they will) To reiterate, the mirror plot is a cool, I just wish they'd take a little more care in how they handled Barry and Iris in it. I don't mind Barry and Iris having obstacles like this, I actually prefer them having to deal with 'one of them is trapped' type obstacles, than things like their fight over Nora working with Wells, because it has the potential to showcase their connection, but that actually needs to happen. If one of the main couple is trapped like this, I want to see their journey back to each other treated with more care and frankly more importance than it's been so far. I expect we'll see it when it's the episode for them to deal with it and I'll probably love their moments, but it should be baked into the foundation of an arc like this.

I can't really see Siri (brilliant name idea!) as a just more assertive version of Iris. Even without the evil-ish look at the end she felt too manipulative to me, and a little callous. Especially about hitting the guy over the head with the bottle (not necessarily the act, since you can say it was undercover, but her attitude about it after). I just can't see Iris in that. With all the lying she did (about her arm which was clearly fine, for example) I can't see her not knowing she's mirror Iris/not the real Iris Speaking of, maybe I'm looking too much into this, but we know Iris can handle herself and she has been handling herself for seasons now. I know they played Barry's worry up in this episode, but the narrative that no one wants her to go out in the field because it's too dangerous hasn't been in the show for years. Not for Barry, not even for Joe I think. They even made a point in episode 10 to have Joe say he wouldn't ask her to stop. I think the last time it was kind of an issue is 4x16 (please let me know if I'm forgetting something!) and even then it wasn't about people not wanting her to go out in the field. Ralph said Iris was leader from behind the desk and never went into the field. Barry told her she didn't need to prove herself to anyone, but when she said she wanted to prove it to herself there was zero objection. So with the damsel line in the trailer I was kind of ???, but since it's Siri and not really Iris saying it, I guess tbh, I want people to think more about how Iris is doing, not less. I know she'll be instrumental in getting herself out of the mirror (and that is awesome, and I'm happy that Iris is such a big part of this story arc, and I'm intrigued by the mirrorverse), but what I don't want to see is the rest of the team, and especially Barry, going on with their merry way for episodes on end because they don't know a fake Iris is in their midst, while Iris is on the other side of the mirror fending for herself. About Danielle, she did audition. I remembered reading about it and in this article (which has transcriptions from a panel she did with David Rapaport on casting) she talks about auditioning (after the part in the article where Rapaport talks about how fast these things can go)

From her instagram videos it looks like Natalie Dreyfuss (who plays Sue) is doing some press for the next episode so keep an eye out for that. Also, looks like she's going to be on Afterbuzz after the next episode

Quick initial thoughts: ooof this was tough to get through because I was nervous about whether or not it was Iris. Halfway through I started to really hope it wasn't Iris, because it wasn't just Barry who thought things felt strange between them, and that Iris was strange, me too and the resolution didn't feel right. That's why I was relieved to see that it indeed wasn't Iris. I don't like that Barry can't tell it's not Iris, or rather that he let himself be dissuaded since he did feel something was wrong. But I can't really compare it to episode 7 since evil Iris was actively pretending that she was Iris (and being quite devious in manipulating im when Barry brought up how different she was acting) to the point that I also started to wonder, while dark flash was clearly and obviously dismissive and not really putting effort in trying to pretend to be Barry and it came on the heels of something happening with his mind. Not to take anything away from how great it was that Iris immediately knew, but I guess I can sort of see why in this case with nothing particular happened before it (that he knows of) why Barry didn't immediately think this was some pretender even if my shipper heart thinks he should have. I'd rather he'd caught on and I'm not sure how to feel about that he didn't (and I wish they didn't have a kiss between fake Iris and him) Moving on from that point, how does fake Iris know all those things about their relationship?

Very cute clip. I was going back and forth about whether we would see Iris or imposter Iris in this episode, but this clip makes a good case for imposter.

Not all, but some thoughts 🙂 I enjoyed the episode. -Lots of great Iris content. What I especially like is that it seems to be setting up a bigger story for her. I tend to love other world type stories so I'm very interested in what the mirrorverse will look like. Will it be like central city, but with things different/not how they are, or will it be more of an abstract place. -I did think they went very fast with the story of not only finding out that Joseph Carver is behind Blackhole (or is there someone who is his boss?), but also confronting him with that knowledge and there already being a standoff of sorts. The bad guys already know that she knows, so even with the information releasing switch, wouldn't they try to come after them somehow? -Like others I'm not sure why they're acting like Cisco and the others (everyone but Barry) wouldn't also remember the new timeline even if their memories were restored. Thinking about the backdoor pilot on Arrow - A nice Barry and Iris moment to (almost) end the episode. I think this episode did a nice job in weaving their two plots. While they were mostly separate, you saw them together at the beginning as those journeys got started and then they got to talk about their journeys as the end. And the plot with Cisco dealing with the new world also nicely intersected with the A plot. Still hoping for some scenes of them really talking to each other, though. Them helping each other with the issues they face. -I don't need Nora to be namedropped every episode or anything, but I feel over the last couple of episodes (and even before) there are a lot of instances where her name/existence would/should naturally come up but it just doesn't - Even though I immediately had my suspicions that Barry needed there to be something to do because he felt so helpless and sad, part of me, like Barry, was hoping that Oliver actually had left behind a message. Not for a mission but some kind of letter or hologram or something from Oliver. I guess I just wanted to hear from Oliver. But I understand why they didn't do that, it would open up too many questions. -Team citizen is really starting to click. They're starting to have their own dynamics among each other like the way Kamilla and Allegra were sort of teasing each other about their lunch orders, and asking whether Allegra was even 21. I like it - I don't understand blaming Nash for crisis. He didn't open that cave till episode 8, but the antimatter was already making its way through they universes since at least episode 2 where Jay showed Barry that he was tracking it. And on Arrow

My thoughts (probably) tomorrow, but that was a really nice episode (plus: westallen ❤️). The ending is intriguing, curious if we'll get to see the other side of that mirror next episode.

From what I read they wanted to do the tie-in comics to tell the stories they couldn't on the screen, so while a few characters that are in the crossover show up, the main characters of this story are characters that probably won't. Considering Felicity is one of the main characters of this tie-in, and it makes sense for the narrator to be one of the main characters, I don't think it's that strange for her to be the narrator. I don't think narrating necessarily means writing the story, but that she's the one who has the boxes on the page with her pov. Terrible description, sorry. I can't think of a good example at the moment, but those boxes they have in comics with the thoughts and viewpoints of the character. There could be a conversation going on between 2 characters and then the box might say something like, 'Actually, she's right. I am scared'

That's a no from me to erasing Cecile or Baby Jenna. Jenna is just living her off screen life in peace. Despite my issues I’ll take this season (so far anyway) over 2A. Plus, after the 5th episode of this season Iris had already had more screentime than she had in the entirety of the 9 pre-winterbreak episodes of season 2 (what I consider 2a).

Overall an ok episode. The plot with Barry and Ralph was fun. Barry's fish out of water -ness at the party was so funny. I do think they went a bit overboard with the clumsiness/incompetent-ness. -The other plots were ok, but with there being such a shaky sense of what Iris is feeling and her not having talked about it with anyone I felt a bit incredulous with them exploring the emotions of 2 recurring characters (Chester and Allegra) to the point that it was hard to concentrate on what was being said. To be fair the Chester plot was there to explore Cecile's emotion and we also learned more about Nash through Allegra which might tie in to crisis. I got a better sense of it when I rewatched, and I do like Allegra and Chester, but I still think the plot with Cecile and Chester could have waited until after crisis and they could have had the reveal that Nash probably knows/knew a doppelganger of Allegra in a plot that wasn't centered around her. The Cecile and Chester plot wasn't bad, but it wasn't really needed now with crisis looming, even for levity since the A plot had funny elements as well. I know someone's own problems don't stop just because there are big problems elsewhere, so on an in-world level I get it (for the most part), but on a show level I don't understand why they're writing in a story about someone's fears about changing jobs when the main character might be dying in 3 weeks and they've barely explored the stories you could tell about that??? Though I guess they needed to explain that Chester got out of the MAC before crisis -Speaking of, so team Flash really looked at each other and were like, should we tell Chester's grandmother (mentioned in the article Chester pulled up) he's alive?.....Nah -It's almost funny how everyone was like, wow there's a potential way to save Barry if Nash finds this artifact....should we help him find it? Nah, let's just go back to our lives. Even if they were accepting before, shouldn't the whole team rally now that they think there might be a chance? It's especially weird that Iris wasn't involved, not just on an emotional level, but Nash was looking for something in her office. They could have at least made Iris' other scene at the end of the episode about trying to helps save Barry instead of her tracking yet another unrelated case. I already talked about how strange the writing for Iris (in particular, though not just her) has been after episode 2 in other threads, and I still don't fully understand it, but for her to now get a glimmer of hope that Barry might be saved and they again choose to have her focus on a random case instead? As with a lot of things, at any other time this focus on cases would have been awesome and it's still awesome to see Iris track down that mysterious organization, but if there's ever a time to have Iris focus on Barry it's 3 weeks before they think he's going to die. Barry himself was also not that interested in helping . As much as I talk about Iris, Barry himself hasn't had much voice either. Yes, we've seen him talk about it with a lot of different people, but a lot of that is filtered through their emotions and comforting them about his own potential disappearance. It's one of the reasons I can appreciate him getting the medal because it was something being done for him. - Iris not being at the press conference was weird and even weirder for Iris not to be there for Barry's shining moment (which admittedly was cute). But if she couldn't be there for some reason, one of team citizen should have been there. To have no central city citizen presence at all? If they want to make the central city citizen a legit news outlet that's taken seriously in their world I don't understand excluding them from big deal press conferences like this. Reading this over it sounds so negative, I don't feel super negative, but there is just a lot to say about the issues I do have. Again I liked the episode fine, but the timing of some things is off
