imo, I don't think Barry and Iris trying to get pregnant because they think Barry is going to die would be a good storyline (even if I wouldn't be opposed to her actually getting pregnant), but as others have said I do expect them to at least mention Nora/children since they were clearly still expecting to have children (and another Nora) from their conversations in 6x01. Barry said last season that Nora was his legacy all along. That he wanted to be remembered as a good man, a good husband and a loving father. So now that he thinks he is going to die I'd expect some reflection on his legacy. And not even just Nora, but in general. Like how Iris reflected on how she was afraid of leaving nothing behind in season 3. But especially on Barry and Iris as a unit and Barry, Iris, Nora/children as a unit, since we just had a season of which the theme was 'legacy' that was partially focused on the repercussions Barry's disappearance during crisis on infinite earths had on his wife and daughter. It's weird that now with the actual crisis on infinite earths and his actual disappearance looming there's no sense of that aspect of his legacy in the episodes, even just in conversation. Maybe it'll come up in one of the upcoming episodes. I enjoy the episodes for the most part, and I think there are interesting ideas and some really interesting set ups, and I can appreciate that they're trying something new with the episode formats/themes, but yeah, there's something missing on an emotional level for me. Pivoting, Is there a possibility of Nora and/or any of Barry and Iris' other kids to cameo in the crossover? I know Eric said not this season to more Barry and Iris descendants, but....

Since the hallucinations are because of something Ramsey does, and looking at the pictures and the way the episode description is worded ('his convictions are tested') I don't think they're going for a Barry realizes there's a chance and he starts fighting again storyline, but rather Ramsey makes a last attempt to have Barry be more like Ramsey and save himself regardless of the cost to other people and this is the last big test for Barry before heading into crisis. I don't think Iris not being in the pictures necessarily means she won't be involved in the Barry and Ramsey storyline either as herself or a hallucination. I want to think that she will. Candice seems to have filmed quite a bit for this episode, but that could be for the investigation part/B plot.

On to other stuff -I like the new Wells - Acting in that last scene with Joe and Barry was fantastic, - But overall the scene left me puzzled with what they were trying to say. I know they're not saying that Joe is more important to Barry, but that is what it ended up feeling like and coupled with some of their other choices I disliked it too much to get lost in the emotion. It's just an odd choice to make emotionally, especially in the lead up to Barry's death. I'm also not sure what they meant about Joe being one of the biggest reasons Barry could become the Flash. I think sometimes they forget that while amazing, yes, Joe and Barry's relationship wasn't always this idealized thing. In the pilot it seemed clear that Joe and Barry fought about Barry thinking he saw the man in yellow and that that was a bit of an issue between them growing up. Iris was the one who always believed in Barry. I don't know, I'm probably way overthinking this. He probably meant in some kind of inspiration way about being brave and keeping going or something. (but even then, how many speeches have we had about Iris being Barry's strength to keep going?). I can rationalize it, but in the end, I just didn't like it. -About the above, I didn't mean Ralph's comment about Iris wasn't mean, clearly it was, which is why they had him apologize, but (I think) the purpose of the writers putting in that line wasn't because they wanted to be mean to Iris, but that they wanted someone to point out that Iris is running around doing random things (like last week, and this week again) instead of spending time with Barry (if he was actually available...). Could they have done it by Ralph asking why she was doing this in a nice way? Yes, that absolutely would have been better, but I'm focusing on what I think the purpose of the line is overall. But that's just my take on what they were trying to do. Not saying it makes it all better, but for me personally, it helps a little

While I can't say I feel really good about how things are playing out, my take away from this episode was actually that Iris behavior is written like this with a purpose. I didn't see Ralph saying that to her as a diss, but as the writing shining light that hey, Iris is acting strange for a woman whose husband she thinks will die in a month and a bit, something is clearly up. And planting a seed. It's not much, but I admit the idea that this sticking her head in the sand is part of her reacting arc does make me feel calmer

I think that was Candice talking about her real life costume plans The eternium is very interesting. They specifically had Wells mention it's a multiversal element. With crisis coming up and the multiverse being a big thing with that, I wonder if Iris having this element will come into play there?

Some initial thoughts: It wasn’t bad, but I admit that after two really emotional episodes this fell kinda flat emotionally speaking (for me I mean). Why spend an entire episode on someone thinking they’re going to die when Barry already decided he’s going to sacrifice himself for everyone if the need arises? It broke the momentum. You know Iris also has some experience in living while knowing the date she might die, so they could have taken the opportunity to have Iris and Frost actually team up. I know not everyone is keen on seeing those two interact, but I feel like if they want to sell this family team dynamic they're gonna have to have either Iris and Caitlin or Iris and Frost interact more. Speaking of, it's a bit strange that Barry and iris haven't themselves talked about when Iris was sort of in Barry's shoes in s3. (It was only referenced with the the newspaper name changing back to Iris West-Allen) But if we’re not talking emotionally, it was an ok episode. (this all sounds more negative than I feel. I thought it as an entertaining episode overall, just not as good as the first two) I feel like I keep talking about A, B and C plots, but the A, B and C plot never connected. They were completely separate and that didn’t work for me. I like that they’re working to give everyone something to do, but I dislike that they don’t even try to make the cases flow together and just randomly smush three different disconnected stories in one episode. The eternium and Iris….very, very interesting. I think that will come back. It didn’t feel to me like the new Wells (whom I liked) knew Iris. I’m not sure how much I’m connecting with Allegra yet, but I think she could be an interesting character and it’s been a while since we’ve had a recurring character on the show from whom they need to keep Barry’s secret, so that should be interesting. And I love mentor Iris. And I love Iris building the citizen. And the Iris and Cisco team up. But….I’ll agree that both Barry and Iris felt a little unnatural this episode. We think Barry might disappear soon….let’s go do our day jobs then, see ya tonight sweetie! I understand that they can’t just have Barry and iris sitting at home or just them being together and they have things to do, but even adding little touches like them messaging or calling each other more than usual or Iris looking at a picture of Barry throughout the day or something would have gone some way in showing that it’s not business as usual. I did like that it was them together telling the team both times. But I think Barry and Iris should have told Joe first.

While I totally get that, it's hard for me to think that the end of 7x22 going into the portal was Felicity dying so imo Oliver must have been alive all this time. (But I guess that's where the other part I wrote kicks in where perhaps this time it might be different because of the change and perhaps they get to be together earlier)

From some of those set photos it seem like like Earth 1 and Earth 38 may have merged? I've seen a few times now (not here) people asking why the monitor hasn't visited Kara to tell her that she will die during crisis, but that's the thing, there has been no indication in universe that Kara will die during crisis. I think this train of though might be coming from A: because of the deal Oliver made. But again, the deal Oliver made has already saved Barry and Kara. They were saved in Elseworlds from dying. There has been no indication in universe that Kara is or will be in particular danger during COIE, Oliver's deal wouldn't be about that. B: because people know that Supergirl died in the comic, but again in universe there has been no indication that that will happen in the arrowverse universe as well. Obviously that doesn't mean it can't or won't happen, they have talked about recreating those famous covers etc, but I thought it was interesting how it's already treated as if it's something in universe as well. One more topic, I've been thinking about Oliver's fate during the crossover and how he could end the crossover. Lots of plotholes in this, but: First, I don't think he's dying. The fact that Felicity went to him in 2040 for me indicates that he's not dead, even though the world does think he's dead. Perhaps he can't return home for some reason. (Spoiler for Pirates of the Caribbean under the cut) So like many have speculated it could be that he goes to that other dimension that Superman, Lois, Superboy and Alexander Luthor go to at the end of the crisis comic. If in the crossover they follow the comic of them possibly going to the dawn of time and things changing so that the multiverse never existed, the future almost has to change because so much of the past will be changing. So what if Oliver still has to go to that dimension but somehow this time Felicity and baby Mia go with him (also William?). Obviously it would be great if Emily came back for the crossover, but if she doesn't they could have the monitor or someone say that Felicity is already there waiting for him and have Oliver look into the portal and hear Felicity's voice calling his name. Maybe see him walk in and hugging her (a stand in) from afar. In the comic every hero that was at the dawn of time when time changed was still there regardless of if they existed in this new timeline, so current Mia that grew up the way she did would still exist if she was there, so everything that happened to her growing up would still mean something because it would still be her backstory going forward. Sidenote for the spin off: But lots of plotholes, especially with the other future characters or if they'd even want to bring baby Mia to that place. And there are still two episodes of Arrow after the crossover so idk

Just a few thoughts for now, I thought it was another good episode. The Barry and Iris scenes were excellent, though I'm curious to see how their resolve will hold as the december date gets closer and closer. I thought all plotlines (A,B and C) were good, but I do think it's maybe better to keep it to two per episode. Since two of them were so heavy I get why they wanted the third one to bring some levity, but I think they could have worked Frost and Cisco into Cecile's case and maybe give that one some more humor in finding things out. Plus I think balance wise I would have wished more time was spent with Barry's plot, though to be fair the A and B plot did end up coming together at the police station so that was good. I didn't like it last season when they had plots that were had the characters in those plots not interacting with characters that were not part of those plots. I don't like getting in the middle of these types of discussions, but I'll say

Some more early reactions to episode 2 of season 6: Putting this one under the cut because it's a bit of a spoiler for the Arrow episode as well:
-
I wonder why Cecile would want to change her job? Maybe it has something to do with her plot in episode 2. I need to back and read it, but I think it was something with a dangerous meta Sounds like Barry is going to try to prepare/train different team members over the course of 6a. Frost in episode 3 and Cisco in episode 4.

Some more thoughts: Some great Barry and Iris scenes. Cried, cried, cried during the scene where Barry and iris finally talk especially, but also a bit during the jacket reveal at the end. Love them. They both had different ways of dealing with it. Barry was forcing optimism, that's why it couldn't really be addressed with his character until after his outburst. Also all this talk of them meeting another Nora one day and having children is giving me WestAllen baby feels I thought it was a clever way to use the jacket in the storyline. I'd kind of forgotten that Iris also has the jacket (or rather that it's her jacket to begin with) Some funny moments, which was nice. The music bit, lol While I feel we didn't get enough buildup for her relationship with Cisco, I like Kamilla well enough and had no problem with her being at Star Labs. She said she was there to visit Cisco plus immediately after they caught godspeed Cisco said it was time to clock out so more than likely she was there to pick up Cisco so they could go on a date or something. It was also a quick way to show she is part of and clued into his entire life. Curious to see where they'll go with Cisco. I wonder if hearing about the upcoming crisis will make him doubt his decision. While what they set up with Frost doesn't entirely track since in season 4 there was an episode where Caitlin felt insecure because she felt like some in the team liked hanging out with KF more than her (baking sodaaaaa), I didn't really mind. When KF started appearing when Ramsey held Caitlin's hand I though maybe KF liked Ramsey, but Caitlin said it had been happening all summer. Loved Ralph's entrance. So it seems Sue is missing. I wonder if she is a meta?

Brandon Routh posted a picture of himself in front of a Palmer Technologies logo on his instagram video and indicated it's for the crossover. (I don't remember, what's the current status of Palmer technologies?) Looks like he might have been filming as Ray? I doubt there will be a lot of scenes with everyone. Hopefully they manage some, but with so many productions running at the same time and all of them needing actors, the window of time for everyone to be on one production is going to be very, very short and probably require stand ins to complete the scene. It'll probably be larger and smaller groups scattered throughout different locations at any given time. These are probably just the characters that are on the waverider at this particular point in time. Maybe the waverider will be some sort of base of operations? Not naming those on the picture above on the waverider (which I think might have been monday), I think the social media of these people has indicated that they also filmed this week, though in a few cases it's a 'might' have filmed this week : Rick Gonzalez, Juliana Harkavy, Jesse Rath, Elizabeth Tulloch, Tala Ashe, Danielle Panabaker, Chyler Leigh, Melissa Benoist, Caity Lotz, Ruby Rose

Just wanted to quickly drop in and say I thought it was a great episode. More later

I don't think one necessarily rules out the other (re Barry being in LOT and dying dec 10). I'm starting to think that Barry might die (Oliver's deal didn't also cover what happens to Barry and potentially Kara in the upcoming crossover, plus as far as we know the headline itself hasn't changed, though perhaps we'll learn more on tonight's episode) So maybe he will die, but instead he'll be gone for however long the gap between part 1 in December and part 2 in January is supposed to represent. If there is a time jump. I don't know if there will be, of course, but maybe there could be? It depends on the type of cliffhanger. If they do a 'everyone is in immediate danger, how will they ever get out of/survive this????' type cliffhanger then they'll want to pick up immediately where they ended part 1. If they do a 'they lost the fight/all is lost' type cliffhanger then I can see them doing a time jump, even if it's just the realtime month in between part 1 and 2. Kevin Conroy mentioning 'first day' makes me think his role is more than just a cameo.

Was very surprised by both that question and the answer. How would they make it fit with what we already know? I don't know, but I like the idea of it a lot! It has the potential to be an awesome story.

This is mostly about the Flash (spoilers for the flash) but he makes some comments about crisis. He talks a bit about visiting Elseworlds set last year and how they talked about getting Tom Welling in the crossover. He mentions at some points there are 'other cameos' which does lean back into the idea that a lot of these actors from other shows being announced are there for cameos. But on the other hand he also talks about characters that haven't crossed into our universe meeting characters and fighting side by side and raises the question what they are going through emotionally and how their emotions mirror the emotions of characters we know like Oliver, Barry and Sara He talks a bit about Crisis and Barry/Iris starting around 6:30 and a little more around 27:20 He talks a bit about Crisis and Tom's character around 18:40 He starts talking about Crisis (including about going to the Elseworlds set etc I described above) around 22:47 He also mentions Barry, Cisco and Caitlin might have a moment during crisis I'm listening to it again so I'll try to add some more timestamps later if I can

Interview with Eric. So much information here. Some interesting things about Barry and Iris, Iris' journalism, Crisis On Infinite Earths, The Flash in general, and more

Reposting what I posted in another forum thread: Under one of her instagram posts Elizabeth Tulloch answered a fan who asked (I'm paraphrasing) if there would be an Iris and Lois team up in the crossover (and that it was too bad that they didn't interact last crossover) saying that they'll be happy with the crossover 👍 True, I hadn't considered that. Maybe the filming will give some hints of how much they're on set If a character is leaving they should get a good send off, for sure! And with not just characters but the show itself leaving I think there might be some arrow show tributes in there as well. But I do think all that will have to be balanced within the larger story that's being told. I guess this crossover has a difficult job because it’s trying to do so much things. In no particular order: - Of course, just telling a good, cohesive, story and also being a good crossover, Juggling all those characters -adapting one of the biggest DC Comics stories in a satisfying way. A story in which sometimes characters that are not prominent characters in the arrowverse have the biggest roles. And giving the adaptation the feeling that it's larger than the arrowverse -Finishing/dealing with a 5-6 year arc on the flash and giving it the proper weight and make it a satisfying end (?) to that arc. They’ve basically been like, Barry will disappear!! crisis!!! For 5+ years on the show so they have their work cut out for them to pay that off for the Flash regardless of what ends up happening with Barry's disappearance. -Saying goodbye to Arrow, the show and the characters, most notably Oliver, and giving them a proper send off (in terms of the larger universe, I know there are 2 Arrow episodes after). Not sure about the characters that will stick around through spin offs or go to other shows though. I guess that will have to be set up, and I imagine that when it comes to Mia she will get a decent amount of scenes with Oliver and have him pass the mantle of Green Arrow to her for the spin-off -In some cases setting up storylines (potentially introducing new characters?) for the other shows for the second half of the season

New trailer:
