Whoa, Rybakina takes out Swiatek! I did NOT see that coming. Now, Coco has to come back against Ostapenko. Come on, Coco!!!

    All Episodes Talk

This is one of my favorite episodes. I actually find his “humiliations” funny in this one, as opposed to the one where it looks as though he’s living on bottle/can redemptions. Her response to Frasier was so warm, sensitive and unexpected. She might have been a good match for him.

My condolences. :-( However, you’re right. His improvement has been remarkable. I wonder how important the addition of Annacone to the team has been. Boy, it’s been a blood bath for the men’s seeds today: Fritz, Zverev, Ruud.

My pick to challenge The Djerk is Sinner. Any one of the remaining contenders is going to have to jump up a level or two. Did anyone watch Coco-Emma R?

Would anyone here be able to guide me through how to cast my espn+ video onto my 2007 TV?

Does anyone really believe ND won’t play? I’ve seen a few clickbait headlines about “concern” because he had missed and truncated some practices. I’ll believe it when he officially withdraws.

Okay, I have to admit grudgingly that ESPN+ may be worth the $9.99 for the month. I was able to watch a few matches that weren’t going to see the light of day on TV: Kvitova-Van Uytvank (sp?) and Korda-Garin. I still persist in objecting to the diminishing amount of tennis shown over the air. I also don’t like that most of the commentators are stateside in front of green screens.

Thanks, salacious kitty! I'm hoping to find one that could help me record confidently over the next two weeks. So still seeking further advice.

Has anyone found a guide that you are confident shows the correct broadcast availability of the AO here in the US? For instance, none of the guides that come up with a google search even mentions TennisChannel, but the onscreen guide for DirectTV (the service I watch TV on) has TC broadcasting the AO at 7am Monday morning, which would coincide with live tennis in Melbourne. And other guides say the ESPN coverage starts at 6pm EST in the US, but others indicate 7pm. And that’s to say nothing of the coyness about when it’s ESPN TV versus fucking ESPN+. Any guidance would be appreciated.

So disappointed about Naomi. She was so damn exciting. And how did I manage to miss the fact that Alcaraz won’t be playing? Who the F is going to beat Djerkovic now? I was counting on Carlitos.
  11. I wonder if that’s the one Carl Reiner starred in or the first real DVDS, where they made DVD up like he was in silent films. Happily they figured that out pretty quickly.
  12. He’s a big star actor in Iceland, according to Phil’s introduction. Also, IIRC David said both that he couldn’t swim and that he wasn’t a strong swimmer. Given how awesomely he was holding it together mentally, especially at the first swimming challenge, I could imagine that saying he “wasn’t a strong swimmer” could have been a way for him to keep his attitude as positive as possible. I was so impressed with him. Of course, he should have learned to swim before going on the race. Hopefully this experience will prompt him to really learn how to swim. It’s just a basic safety skill.
  13. He seems knowledgable, and he’s also articulate, warm and funny. I remember once he groaned in pleasure (and then sheepishly apologized) at a turn in one of PapCiz’s sequences. It was hilarious and was the clearest explanation why they’re considered to be so great. And if NBC doesn’t realize that an attractive brunet would also be welcome, they clearly don’t know their audience!
  14. What happened to Agosto? He was never/rarely on the main broadcasts, but he was excellent. Does he have a conflict too?

I've never used the hug emoji before, but this definitely called for it. I assume that’s your dog in your picture. He/she (they?) is INSANELY adorable.

EXACTLY. That’s why when they’re going poorly they’re so INCREDIBLY depressing to watch. There’s just nothing there (aside from Judge, this year, of course). There’s no life, no fun. It’s not just that they’re losing when they’re going badly, but they’re losing in such a glum way. Cashman doesn’t seem to pick those bright eyed, high energy always-ready-to-go-and-do-their-best kind of players that are fun to watch even when they’re in a slump, the kind of players Cleveland and Tampa Bay specialize in. Those players have spirit.

I haven’t been following the changes that have been going on in baseball, especially in playoff formats etc, but one thing I’m happy to see is that all the games (this round at least) are on one channel. I hated having to search around to find the damn game, already! This slightly outweighs not having Ron Darling as an analyst anywhere. I hope Met fans are consoled with having David Cone. Poor Phillies-Cards fans getting stuck with Michael Kay and A-Rod. Blech.

What did you like about him, Mojoween? The times I saw him he rarely had anything of interest to say. For such a highly regarded baseball mind I was surprised and wondered if the extra second or two it took to translate to English was the issue. Also, I’ve been wondering since Stanton hits so much better when he’s playing the field if there has been any discussion of getting him back in the field sometime during the playoffs. How healthy is he reputed to be?

I was worried about Rafa during that match. He looked more sluggish than I can ever remember him looking. I’m glad he’s withdrawn. I hope he and his wife can relax a bit more soon and that the rest of the pregnancy isn’t so fraught for them. As a huge Roger fan, it’s actually been easier for me that he hasn’t been playing the last couple of years and has sort of gently faded from my sports-watching consciousness. However, facing the actual retirement with him there in front of me was much more upsetting than I was expecting. It feels like a true life loss of a benevolent, very human and grounded, exemplar of beauty and hope. I couldn’t watch a lot of it, as lovely as it sounded.

I hope you’re right, jatmacc99. For me, them allowing him to leave would likely end my being a fan of the team.
